  1. I think the previous poster was more or less assuming you were calling her a muffin peddler as a way of insulting Lois and was simply explaining that just because she sold muffins, that didn't make her less than. Or any less smart or talented. She worked there because most people have to work to eat/live (also, I always thought she was doing it more as a thank you to Martha Kent than anything else) and she didn't know what she wanted to do with her life yet. Plus, she was technically a high school student living in a small town (in season 4). When she did finally go to college (and then proceeded to get kicked out), she continued working at the Talon because it was a job. Most of your problems with Lois' character seem to stem from the restrictions on her (as the previous poster was trying to say). She was stagnant mostly because she wasn't allowed to do much. She couldn't be a journalist (because DC Nay-nayed that), she couldn't work at the planet, etc etc. So when she did start writing, she started at a tabloid paper. And, as someone who lives in the real world where jobs are hard to get and if you don't have the right connections (Chloe only got into the planet because one of the Luthers helped her get her foot in the door, if memory serves me correct.) it is often very hard to get any upward mobility whatsoever, I see nothing wrong with her starting out in the tabloids. When she finally did get into the Dailey Planet, it was because Grant was drawn to her personality and had even read some of her stuff in the Inquisitor. He liked her writing before he met her and said as much. (Aside: And I think thoughts like that, as well as poo-pooing on people who didn't go/don't go to college, are kind of off-putting in a way. Some people on these boards may not've had the opportunity to go to college or had to start all the way at the bottom and got as far up as they did through sheer luck and being in the right place at the right time, a la Lois in Smallville. Just a thought.) As for what investigating means, it very literally means to carry out a detailed examination or inquiry, especially officially, in order to find out about something or somebody or to take a look or go see what has happened. In all of those episodes SteveS mentions, Lois does just that. And same as they mentioned before, Lois is a very divisive character. But, she was always seen as a feminist icon because she went against the status quo, even in her earliest incarnations ---a female working and thriving in a very male dominated world. SVLois wasn't nice, or cheery, or sweet, etc in the slightest. She wasn't book smart (or computer savvy, as seems to be the go to characteristic for acceptable female characters (if they're not streetfighters) nowadays) but she was street smart. She benefited from being an Army brat in a way that she was exposed to things that Clark wasn't able to living his entire life in Kansas. And that's how she was good at investigating without the aid of randomly being able to hack government entities (way harder than they make it look on the show, and the people who do it often spend years at it....not minutes) or superhuman abilities. Crusade/Gone - Lois was looking for her cousin, even figured out on her own that it wouldn't have made sense for Lex Luther to've killed Chloe (and that he was probably being set up for it) Facade - Lois starts writing for the Torch for the extra credits, manages to stumble onto a story bigger than most HS articles are; writes about it and then flips it and even ends up writing an editorial about how people's obsession with their outer appearance is more detrimental than good Devoted - she helps Clark and Chloe with the whole cheerleader love potion in the Gatorade debacle; is the one that helps them sneak into the party, uses Clark's good looks to her advantage to steel evidence, etc etc Pariah - figures out that Alicia didn't commit suicide and figures out who actually did kill her/framed her Recruit - the entire episode is her trying to clear her name/prove she didn't put a football player in a coma (which if she had...good for her? Handsy drunk guys are the wooooorst) Lucy - meh, no real investigation here. Most of the things she figured out was because she knew her sister. And even her unease with Lucy's visit came from the fact that she knew her sister wouldn't just up and visit her out of the blue. Forever - helps Clark find the crazy kids Forever High school art show Exposed - she helps Chloe look into the murder of a stripper (even goes so far as to actually strip in order to help her cousin out. now if that's not love, idk what is) Hypnotic - I honestly don't remember this episode. I just remember it being the one that broke up Clark and Lana for nteenth time Sneeze - she is literally trying to figure out how the Kents' barn door ended up miles away from the home; Arrow - Investigates the arrow; does so well that she actually gets kidnapped because of it (at this point, I believe she's actually a journalist. It's tabloids, but journalism is journalism) Reunion - figures out who's trying to get revenge against Lex, Ollie, and co and how he's doing it In Combat, she scooped Chloe and Clark on the location of the fight club by simply looking at a picture and seeing something they'd previously dismissed (She recognized the numbers and letter on the wall in the background of the picture were military, and because of her years living with her father she knew what they meant --base name and building location.) --again, street smarts. And I could literally go on, because most of the episodes after this point are Lois sticking her nose into something and getting herself into trouble (mostly because she's largely out of the "there are aliens among us" loop). TL;DNR - it's fine if you don't like Lois. She's meant to be a divisive character. A love interest that isn't sweet and caring, etc etc. She's rude, arrogant, prickly, and standoffish ---and to be honest, that's why I loved her. (Although it's very interesting that, as disliked as she was, people still talk about her to this day so vehemently.... 6 years after the show went off) some may not have found humor in her character, there were plenty that did. I actually used to watch Smallville with an ex of mine (back when it was still on tv) and he would only watch the episodes with Lois in them because he didn't like anyone else. Same with my mother and my uncle (that grew up reading Superman comics). I will agree with you, though, on the Chlois front. There should've been way more scenes with the cousins together, because the ones we did get were awesome. I would've loved to see more of them investigating together, and then maybe having Chloe get fired/quit and Clark comes in and takes her place. Then you'd still have the dynamic of Lois not wanting to work with Clark, but then there would've been a more personal motive behind it. But that's just me *sips tea
  2. They already announced season 6 (20 episodes too, I believe) last week at comic con. Okay, I thought I was the only person who was confused who the other werewolf fighting the scorpion in the club was. Because I too thought it was Theo until the very end of it when Brett had a line (and what is with that ealry 90's sitcom hunk/crush name?). They all look like they rolled out of the same factory. Teen Wolf boys have always been pretty but...they were very easily distiguishable in the early seasons. I could tell Isaac from Jackson from Stiles etc (and I picked those 3 bc they all have similar coloring. Not just...because they're white.)
  3. Okay, one qualm I had with this episode (it could just be me) but why the hell was everyone acting like they didn't believe Malia when she brought up The Doctors? She literally brought them up 3 times this episode and no one asked her a single damn follow up question about it. They all either exchanged looks or straight up ignored her. What was up with that? Say what you will about Malia, but she isn't a liar. That girl is honest to a fault and if she had killed Tracy she'd had copped to it immediatly in a "I felt like my life and everyone else's were in danger. It was either us or her, so bitch had to go" kind of way and shrugged it off. Was their reaction to her meant to be intentional or a flaw in the writing? Like...maybe the doctors got into her head and everytime she tries to bring them up, gibberish comes out of her mouth or she goes silent but she still thinks that she's talking? Like....huh? That bugged me....the entire episode.
  4. Reply Kira just sitting there: I figured she noticed her one supernatural friend without the aid of supernatural healing was bleeding out and chose to stay with her in hopes that she wouldn't bleed out. Plus, Tracy took off immediatly after her tail got chopped off (just grabbing Mulva on her way out). I was willing to fanwank that Malia arrived probably 30 seconds to 1 minute after all of that went down.
  5. Scott: Why didn't you use your gun? Derek: You're covered in gasoline. Scott: :-|
  6. I don't think it has anything to do with the show forgetting anything, I believe there was more to Tracy than just being a Kanima. Kind of like the werewolf in the first episode with talons instead of claws. I think the doctors are just mixing and matching creatures together somehow, trying to see which ones stick. Why? Who knows. Maybe they're trying to create a hodgepodge army of some sort? My favorite episodes are always the episodes where they let the girl's be badass. Too many times they seem to dumb them down, or lessen their strength so that the boys come out on top. And more all female interactions please! Lydia/Kira/Malia are my new brOT3, tbh.
  7. And? She seemed more than a little bit okay with their arangement. Elliott came off as the less than willing participant in that scenario to me. But YMMV
  8. I don't he's mysogonystic (like other posters have already said, mysogonists hate women. Elliot doesn't hate either of these women.) I think that he just sees most people as being fooled and not as smart as him, and therefore they need his protection. He's kind of like a tech version of Sheldon Cooper (does that make sense?). I think him doing what he's doing is his way of connecting with them. I actually really liked the show! Unlike most shows where I watch from behind my laptop, or while I'm doing chores, I sat down and watched this one.
  9. Nah, what he said was accurate enough and the downfall of many of these millionaire pro football players. Child support is no joke (and, as a female I hate to say this, but there are plenty of women who hang out in the pro-sports bracket that will purposely get pregnant because they know they'll get paid. Extra too if the player's married and wants her to stay quiet.) and why buy a boat/plane full out when you can rent it when you need it for much cheaper? And while cars can be a necessity, 10 cars are not.
  10. Didn't the season start out with Rebekah telling hope a bedtime story that basically acted as a recap for the previous season/setup for this one?
  11. Wasn't it hinted that Joah and Aiden were at least talking long before they were seen together on screen? Like they met through a dating app or something? (am I getting them mixed up with someone else?). And I guess my thing with Josh and Aiden was that they were actually a healthy, functioning relationship where they acknowledged each other's faults and forgave them. Not to mention, they were fairly honest and open with each other (Aiden even confided in Josh in regards to Klaus and the deal he had with him.). While Kol was introduced to Davina under his mother's command and lied/stole/tricked her more times than I can count on one hand in just the first few episodes of the season. She even straight up watched him lie to his sister's face and trick her into a body simply because she got him daggered almost 100 years prior. And then she has the nerve to say that Kol is nothing like his conniving siblings? Like...really? Though I did laugh when Rebekah judo chopped her in the throat.
  12. IDK, I like her. Should I be getting an extra paycheck this month? (I could really use it! Lol) Didn't all of those actors/actresses get their pilots greenlighted? And NuKol never wanted to be attached to the show. The actor said from the begining that he only wanted to be temporary. I actually didn't mind the finale. Only wish Dahlia (and Esther) could've stayed instead of being killed off. It'd be interesting to see characters that are mostly nuetral but also mildly antagonistic. Davina got on my very last nerve with all her Kol pontificating. You knew him for what? A month? And suddenly you know him so well? What Vincent told her was very true; for all of Kol's wiley ways, when push comes to shove, he is a Mikaelson first. And he can be every bit the bastard Klaus is.
  13. No need to defend it with me. I was just using it as an example. (And still maintain that Klaus saved Hayley's life with that spell bc Dahlia would've killed her, and even said so)
  14. Just stick to the Superhero shows (or just The Flash, tbh)...they're goofy in nature so you can forgive them more. (Emphasis on The Flash here)
  15. In tvland you can. (*looks at The 100*)
  16. For Klaus it is. For a normal person, yes, that was sanity (but there are some people irl who will kill a person for taking their child.) But because Hayley birthed his only child, that gave her a lot of slack, IMO. Anyone else would've died a sloooow, painful death, punctuated by many many Klaus speeches.
  17. We were never arguing about whether or not Klaus was a horrible person (lets be honest, every one of them are capable of being horrible. Even Jackson whose pack slaughtered Diego's entire human family, including his younger sister), but whether or not he's shown his love for his child. There are plenty of examples of him showing his love *see my previous comment* and even if JM has chemistry with everyone, TPTB chose to show those shots of his open adoration of the child. Klaus does love Hope (even shows it canonically), but Klaus is Klaus. And you cannot teach an old dog new tricks...
  18. I think we're all going to have to agree to disagree on this one. I'm with the others in that you can see how much Klaus loves his daughter every time he looks at her; his entire face lights up more so than anyone else's ( and that might just be JM the actor vs PT, etc ). He sent her away at the end of last season because he knew it wasn't safe for her; he's said himself that he worries about whether or not he'll do good by her because of his relationship with Michael; was genuinly hurt when Elijah though he'd use his daughter's blood to create a hybrid army for himself (and even encouraged Hayley to go and alternative route in order to create a an army of hybrids he knows he could never control on his own). So not only have they given vocal evidence of his love for Hope , but we were also shown through both actions and just plain old good face acting. Again, YMMV But the final showing of how much he loves his daughter (and even a smidgen of character growth), he let her mother live. OG Klaus would've killed everyone in a fit of rage. And if not Hayley....he'd have killed Jackson and then still put the cure on her. This time he only did one (and arguably protected Hayley from Dahlia killing her herself). Growth! (yes a smidgen of sarcasm on the growth bit, but still...it's progress)
  19. Maybe her witch side saved her? Klaus said Dahlia had to finaggle the original curse to take Hayley's vampire side into account, so maybe that's what saved her? I'm really really sorry if that's how I came off to you, I wasn't trying to say that (entirely). As Hope's mother, I agree Hayley has just as much say in Hope's life as Klaus does (it should be equal), and I think I forgot to add the bits from my previous comments from the previous episodes about my main issue with her running away is that she put Hope in even more danger than she was before. Saying that Hope "isn't a Mikaelson" does nothing to erase the fact that she is, in fact, a Mikaelson. Her pack of Woofs (as Miss. Ladyrotts so eloquently dubbed them) suck...and they weren't going to stay with them past them leaving Nola anyway. Hope would've been left under the protection of Jackson, Hayley, and maybe Jackson's mom (or whoever the heck that woman is). Hope's enemies wouldn't just be vampires or other wolves...they'd probably be witches as well, and while Davina may be cordial to Hayley, she only ever helped her because she opposed Klaus and other people asked her. Hayley has never been shown as one to make and maintain alliances. Even on TVD she was a lone wolf. As for which parent is better? Hayley has exhibited reckless behavior (turning the hybrids in to Klaus; leaving the house even after Klaus told her it wasn't safe in episode 1 or two of The Originals; aligning with Katherine Pierce in off screensville then having to seek refuge with Klaus, of all people; running off with a magical baby with magical enemies and leaving yourself virtually unprotected and up paddle creak if she ever managed to catch up to you). And while Klaus maybe seem reckless, he's mostly weighed the consequences of his actions and said eff it. His actions in this episode couldn't even be defined as messy or more despicable than any of his previous actions. He could've easily killed Hayley and her wolves but he didn't, instead he put a reversible spell on them that can be lifted whenever. Had he not done that, Dahlia already said she would not hesitate to kill Hayley to take her out of the picture. Looking at it that way, Klaus saved her life and her pack. Same with Elijah and Rebekah; Dahlia was ready to kill all of them and Klaus (while maintaining his cover) put them out of commission so that she had no reason to hurt them. So Klaus killed Gia. This is hardly the first time he's killed either of his sibling's lovers. Nothing he did this episode tops him killing Tyler's mom (who really killed for no rhyme or reason other than to get back at Tyler) or a pack of hybrids on Hayley's word, etc. Or even him turning Aunt Jenna for the sole purpose of sacrificing her. Was Gia collateral damage? Yes. That sucks. But Klaus' already said he'd do anything to save his daughter and so did his siblings.
  20. But dangerous to whome? Not to Hope herself. Hayley's also a dangerous parent (and one who makes questionable decisions always, not just on TO but also on TVD where her character originated). Hayley, no matter how she tries to paint it, decided to run off with her baby because her husband gave her an ultimatum and she chose to stay with him. She says on the the voice message she left that it's too dangerous for Hope to be a Mikaelson (not taking into account that running off and raising her with different people does nothing to change her parentage in the slightest. The whole quarter knew Hope was Klaus' daughter, the whole Quarter did not abscond to the bayou), I took that to mean she planned on erasing Klaus 100% from her daughter's life. And if she did tell her, it wouldn't be until she was grown.
  21. I don't disagree with you in that Klaus is hard to work with/parent with. But (as a person who's been a child between 2 parents, so my personal issues very well could be coloring my outlook here) Hayley lost any sympathy on that front when she up and left and was, essentially, replacing Klaus with Jackson in Hopes life. And that is NOT fair for anyone -Hope most of all. She would've figured out eventually that Jackson wasn't her father when she started flinging crap around the house with her mind and neither of her "parents" could do the same. So while I can see where the point of view comes from (that she felt like she had no other choice), I didn't feel bad for her at all when it came to her fate. To be honest, she's had a come-uppance coming since she was on TVD and got Tyler's mom killed. Not only that, but she attempted to do to Klaus what he promised her back in season 1 he would never let happen to her (RE: someone taking Hope away from her and her never seeing her daughter again.) The only stipulation I remember being that they leave Freya out. He said he knew Dahlia's secret (and it's heavily implied that it's why he didn't trust Freya) and was more than willing to share. And, in the end, he kinda did when he had Cammie relay it after he started setting his original trap for Dahlia. Klaus a monster that lashes out to the umpth degree when he feels wronged. He's a megalomaniac, but he's literally never claimed to be anything different. Maybe that's why I've never hated him even though he wasn't my favorite? IDK.
  22. Nah, I though YG was added on as a series regular around the time they got the season 3 renewal? Maybe I had no problem with what Klaus did tonight (even though Gia was essentially canon fodder) because I never got the feeling that his revenge (though mostly plan oriented/done to trick Dahlia) was ever truly about them Daggering him. It was about them letting Hayley run off with his daughter behind his back. Which makes what he did to both siblings (Killing Gia, Elijah's mentee and forcing Rebekah to forfeit her human body) make sense, in that regard. He basically helped him loose his daughter and took him out of the game when Hope needed him most. (A friend of mine, a father, who watches applauded Klaus's restraint because he said he'd have done worse.). And, tbh, if Elijah asks Klaus why he went so far, I hope he answers "For Hope," bringing it all full circle.
  23. These last few episodes have kind made me into a Klaus fan. When they let him go one full evil rampage...he's every bit as scary as they originally made him out to be on The Vampire Diaries. The fact that he put the crescent moon curse on Hayley (and her pack by extension) instead of killing her....cruel but pretty brilliant. Even when she returns to her human form, she wouldn't dare try to come for hope because her time would be severely limited. Getting back at his siblings for putting him out of commission at such a crucial time (making Elijah watch Gia burn to death/forcing Rebekah to give up her chance to be human)....Even though he can be a whiny bastard (no pun intended) he knows how to get to people (will even drown your mother in a fountain) and that makes him a formidable villain. I kind of figured he had something up his sleeve whenhe didn't immediately kill Jackson and the other wolves. Nothing's more intimidating than having someone kick your ass, knowing they could end you, and they don't have to try that hard to do it. I've figured all along that Klaus had a plan and that he wasn't bluffing when he said that he knew Dahlia's secret. Elijah's mistake was not hearing him out when Klaus expressed his willingness to share said information.
  24. Actually, their problem with him wasn't that he was running around like a psycho....it was the exact opposite actually. Not verbatim, but Rebecca (and Elijah) all but complained about how Klaus did nothing but paint all day and refused to let them in on his plan. When, in fact, he told them both that he would let them in on his plan if they weren't so hellbent on including Freya in everything because she wasn't to be trusted. And oh my, look at that, he was actually right. Most people's problem with them daggering Klaus (or mine at least, as someone who's never been a huge Klaus fan) was the timing. You don't just take someone out of commission seconds before a big bad witch is meant to show up and snatch their child. That actually makes negative sense. Not only are they going to be hella pissed, if anything happens to said child while they are out, you can all but stick your head between your legs and kiss your ass goodbye. Hayley and Jackson's plan to hide out in the bayou has already been shown to be lame. Not only has Dahlia effectively trapped them with her storm (meaning she already knows where the hell they are ---how are you going to be bayou dwelling wolves and yet think your enemy isn't going to think to look for you in the damn bayou?!?! I'm still not over this) but she ends up finding them next episode. We already know that she can take out the pack whilst filing her nails?! Like....the dumb has been stron with everyone these last few episodes!! Why the hell am I siding with Klaus?!?! KLAUS!
  25. I know Hayley's excuse for taking Hope away was because she was afraid of the Mikaelson's enemies. but....wouldn't her pack have enemies as well? Wasn't the reason the Crescent wolves were cursed in the first place because they basically had "killing parties" in order to trigger their wolf half? I remember Diego (Marcel's vamp from last season) particularly hating them because they killed his entire family. So...who's to say they don't have enemies themselves? And while Jackson (and Hayley too) like to play like he's a saint...pretty sure he's killed a few someones. And the way they were talking about triggering their curse in such a weirdly upbeat way (mind you, they're talking about murder here) how exactly are they better roll models for Hope? Klaus can actually teach her how to survive, and while he may have enemies...he's also pretty good at making allies. What exactly can those two do? Camp?
