  1. Ava Ayala, the current White Tiger as well. Her powers are magical in origin, but they're more like Black Panther and the Heart-Shaped Herb. I just think America makes too much sense. No disrespect for Silverclaw, but I don't think she's been seen since the first Civil War, and that was fifteen years ago.
  2. I think Book also said that couriers sometimes used it was a way station.
  3. The only other Latinx female superhero I can think of off the top my head is Anya Corazon, the current Spider-Girl. That's highly unlikely for two reasons: A) she'd be playing in Sony's league, and B) one of America's powers is being able to hop between universes. I can't imagine they'd cast a young Latinx actress for a movie about the Multiverse and have her playing someone else.
  4. Netflix's Baby-Sitter's Club Xochitl Gomez in case in Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness. They don't say who she's playing. The chances that it's anyone other than America Chavez are between 0-0.1%.
  5. This is the New Yorker in me, but I actually sucked in my breath by how good Pixar's version of NYC looks. This is the first time they've done a location that isn't stylized in some way, and it looks incredible.
  6. A badly kept secret, but only now officially confirmed: Disco Season 4 is go.
  7. If memory serves, Gabrielle told her that Control had wiped out all life throughout the galaxy. Even if it had only been insects, it meant that she'd been successful in getting the Sphere data to the future.
  8. Because he's smart enough to recognize Felix catus as a superior form of life. It's been an emotional week, but the stuff with the flag at the end really got to me. Best moment was Michael high, particularly with "I have a friend with red hair. Don't give it to her!" I had a similar thought.
  9. Since they're clearly taking a lot of beats from the Fraction/Aja run (which I wholeheartedly support), why is there no notice for Pizza Dog?
  10. Elizabeth mentioned smart boards specifically. Those are pretty expensive.
  11. Walt Disney restructures entertainment businesses to boost streaming. That sound you just heard was the funeral bell tolling for most movie theaters.
  12. I'm glad he cashed out. He won a decent chunk of money, and the prizes that he got were great. The Wizard of Oz first edition is one of the coolest things anyone has picked. I also liked that they framed the school supplies prize as "because we want you to keep the rest of the money for yourself" as opposed to it being some kind of out and out sob story.
  13. I think my favorite little moment was Freeman telling the spacedock worker that she didn't want an upgrade to go along with the repairs. She likes her funky little ship the way it is. She really is Mariner's mother.
  14. THEY MADE THE TITAN LUNA-CLASS IN CANON!!!!! Sorry to shout, but that made my week. I have the biggest, dumbest, goofiest grin ever, and I really needed it.

In positive news, NK Jemisin got a MacArthur Genius Grant.
  16. I actually had the same thought, but I suppose it also functioned as "The Enemy Within" where she was forced to confront her own dual nature. The Cerritos is supposed to be an engineering support ship. That seems less weird than the Enterprise or Voyager not having one.
  17. I ended up really enjoying it, and I'm not sure I was expecting to. I think the best was, perhaps unsurprisingly, Quinto, but I appreciated that most of them tried to do something different than their counterparts from the 70s. Matt Bomer didn't do much besides take his clothes off, though. Although Donald shows up at the beginning specifically so that Michael will have someone to receive exposition, so it's not entirely his fault.
  18. That happened on Enterprise.
  19. This has been the best by a country mile. And I've basically liked every other episode. They need to go ahead and make Paul Scheer a regular.
  20. We have a Kamala. A+ casting, she looks perfect.
  21. Fury's son. A number of years ago, the elder Fury essentially became the Watcher (don't ask), and they introduced his son, Nick Jr. Jr is biracial, so the main continuity has a Fury who more closely resembles his MCU version.
  22. I just love Mariner's constant reminders that, well, Earth is boring.
  23. I wonder if they'll use the opportunity to introduce his son. They could use a younger SHIELD agent running around.
  24. I liked the callback to Rutherford's implant being Vulcan. Honestly, I really liked the episode period.
  25. They just dropped a one-off sugaring competition called Sugar High. The general format, set, and Hunter were the same, but different judges and minimal baking. My feeling is that it was probably a failed pilot for a spin-off. It was quite dull.
