  1. The cast recording has rap, hip hop, jazz, traditional broadway, ballads, and a Bach invention inspired classical type piece. The range is amazing. I have one kid in AP US History, one in Civics and one in early US history this year. I'm getting a lot of Hamilton lyrics sung back at me while helping them study.
  2. I hope they checked the packaging. Drumsticks have a recall notice for possible listeria contamination. Without TV or internet (haha), they may not be aware.
  3. I can never wrap my head around the fact that the hot photographer is Lucious Malfoy.
  4. Japanese Prine Minister entrance > Queen Elizabeth entrance. I never would have guessed that. Very much looking forward to Tokyo after that segment.
  5. The hand over the heart thing came up in the gymnastics thread. It seems that the code changed sometime in the last 20 years to add the salute. Many of us over 30 were taught to place your hand over your heart for the pledge and stand at attention and sing for the anthem. As long as you do something to show respect, I don't care where your hands are. As to Lochte, the only thing that isn't sitting well with me is that Brazil has not asked him to pay a fine. Having Fiegen pay the fine in order to leave the country reads like extortion even if it isn't truly. Why not go after the guy who truly is the root cause? Crossing my fingers that USA swimming steps up and helps to reinforce to Lochte that what he did was unacceptable.
  6. Bob Costas just announced that Feigen was supposed to fly out but never showed up for his flight. Shenanigans abound! (just not sure if it's on the part of the swimmers or the government)
  7. I believe the commentators mentioned that he had spent time away from competition recently due to a concussion so it was doubly worrisome. He may not have realized he lost consciousness, but it was pretty obvious to me.
  8. I think for people like me who only watch every four years, it is hard to judge Sanne's routine because it is SO different than anything else we saw. It was beautiful and I appreciated that she took skills that she did well and didn't try to force things she couldn't do as well just to get the points (ahem, vault finals).
  9. Carl was dirty (and arrogant) and then performed the worst version of our national anthem ever caught on tape.
  10. I know nothing but I thought the Russian gymnast's 1st vault was over scored. That was all kinds of wonky. Exciting for Dipa. It sounds like she basically did it on her own.
  11. Dan and Dave anyone. (US decathlon athletes from 1992). Huge ad campaigns with them and then only one made the Olympics.
  12. Thanks for the replies. I remember rumors but they were all pretty vague. It just seems that every other WR has fallen and there was no mention of the sprinters tonight coming close to matching it.
  13. Rowdy talked about it a lot with Ladecky's 800 swim. She didn't kick at all during her prelim swim and he emphasized that it was normal. What little movement she had visible above the water was actually just her body rocking with her stoke movement. She did kick some during her WR swim last night.
  14. I only watch track and field during the Olympics. Is it considered odd that Flo Jo still holds the world record?
  15. Mary is calling the tennis and she isn't even trying to hide her excitement over the women's gold medal match.
  16. I had never heard of Monica Puig either but she is playing so well against Kerber. What a story! My kids asked what anthem they play for Puerto Rico and I while I assume it will be the Star Spangled Banner, I should be able to find out for sure in a few minutes. EDIT:. I was wrong. They have their own anthem. Very cool and major congratulations to Puig.
  17. That is a really interesting point I had not considered. Men's 50 free = wow! Go old guy!
  18. Several former team members have called her out on social media (Julie Foudy) and Christine Brennan who is a well-respected sports journalist was quite adamant that she needs to go. There will be plenty of pressure from outside the team and today's comments along with the domestic violence are more than enough. Plus she didn't play that well in the last match.
  19. I thought Phelps handled that interview well. Maybe a little easier to tolerate Schooling winning than others in the race? Also thrilled for Czeh to medal.
  20. I hope we have a backup goalie ready. I am tired of Solo and i hope the WNT is too.
  21. While a lot of the Chinese gymnasts look very young, USA's own Regan Smith looks 10 and Madison Kochian doesn't look 19 to me either. I am very excited that the current trend seems to be strength rather than starving.
  22. I wonder if part of Phelps' showboating is an attempt to keep himself pumped for the relay. That is a quick turnaround but just long enough for the endorphins to fade.
  23. I am all for educating people about Global Warming but this is a weird mashup of Epcot and Wall-E right now.

Whether or not this physician has an active license, she has had the education required by law to practice as a physician. While her beliefs may not align with yours, you cannot question her education. Also, I'll point out that like you, my youngest was delivered by a CNM. I had a good experience with her (however I had a better experience in a teaching hospital with residents). The experiences we had are not comparable to what Jill can offer her clients. The skill set of CNM is very, very different than that of a lay midwife.
