I actually don’t think it was flawless. Her 2 axel wasn’t smooth and I really don’t know what she did for the first minute of the program. Just skated around.

The South Korean’s program was lovely. If she felt the pressure of the home crowd, it didn’t seem to hurt her.

Both Chen and this OAR athlete look like they are afraid of this ice and a bad injury. Hopefully it will get better before anyone else competes.

At this point, I'm willing to believe they picked Jason as the alternate just to prevent any further drama among the team members. He's (at least publicly) a team player and maybe he can work with Vincent on being a little more lyrical. Sometimes its about the intangibles, and if for some bizarre reason he had to compete, his SP isn't terrible if he can land his big jump.

It's frustrating to me as a very casual watcher. The only skater that I would pay to see is Jason Brown because I love his artistry and interpretation of the music. I totally understand that he has no chance to medal so I'm fine with leaving him off the team but I hate that it happened with him splatting all over the place. He didn't play to his strengths, he tried to play to the judges and it ruined his style and his ability to perform. I think it's Chen, Zhou, and a toss-up between Rippon and Minor.

I know Karen Chen had a stomach virus. Maybe she passed it around and they ran out of energy? Otherwise, it's a nightmare for the men.

She has said she may switch short programs if she makes the team. How well could she really prepare a new short and a newish long? That just seems like a bad idea. Bradie is Miss Consistency, Mirai has experience and maturity, Karen is the ingenue. Isn't that our usual makeup?

In most Calvinist denominations today, women still can't be ordained. Liberty University refuses to allow women to major in pastoral leadership. That's a rant for another day I have been lucky in that our congregations have had no expectations on my role (with a few exceptions). When asked by younger spouses for advice, I tell them to do only what truly interests them and your only responsibility is to support your spouse (which should be no different than any other marriage). It's worked well for us for the last 21 years.

I am in no way fundy but I am a pastor's wife. It makes me happy that we haven't only seen Jinger in that "role". Her lack of interest in highlighting those duties makes me think she married Jeremy for himself, not his career. It's a very good thing, especially as I'm not sure he will last in full time ministry. There are women who stalk seminarians to marry in order to be the pastor's wife. It seems to have some cache amongst the fundy set but I've never understood that mentality. It's not lucrative, your husband is away weekends and holidays, and if he has any integrity you really don't know the good gossip anyway! If these women wanted to do the real ministry, they could go to seminary themselves, but of course, that will never happen.

And why is Travolta introducing Urban/Underwood? That seemed random.

I do love her friendship with Viola.

We're convinced that Ariana's mike was turned way down in that number. She should have blown them out of the water.
