  1. When she got that short haircut I kept wondering what man had done Kelly wrong. Many women get drastic haircuts when they break up with someone. Years ago when I went thru a heartbreaking, Adelesque(TM) break-up, I went to my stylist and while I was sitting in the chair I suddenly decided to "cut it all off". Because of the emotional state I was in, my stylist refused. She said she never did anything drastic to her client's hair if they were going thru a break-up, had recently lost a loved one or gone thru a traumatic experience. She is still my stylist and I will always be grateful to her for saving me from myself.
  2. Because Laura was catatonic for several years, I bet Nick or Luke had set up some kind of trust fund to provide for her. Laura does not seem to have many expenses. She has lived with Nick for a long time and she says she is going to move in with Dante and LuLu so I don't think she has that many expenses. It is too bad Lucky burned down the Spencer home when he found out about Liz and Nick. I loved that set and it would have been nice to see Laura back in her home. I loved the Jax and Alexis scenes today. They have such love, respect and trust in each other that has lasted decades. When Alexis threatened to expose Jax's secret about the kidney transplant if he called her girls and told them about her drinking, Jax did not lose his cool and make it all about him like Sonny would have done. He knew she was frightened, humiliated and desperate. He knew she would not reveal his secret and he did not fly off the handle and throw barware. Jax expressed his love and concern for Alexis without judgement. He might have been angry and disappointed in her "blackmail"/bluff attempt, but he made it clear that he loves her and if she needs him he will always be there for him. Jax needs to be on the canvas permanently, unlike Sonny and Jason, he is a hero for whom you don't need a Silkwood Shower after you root for him. Imagine GH having a hero that is not a murdering, sociopathic mobster.
  3. I really hate it when rape storylines focus on how it impacts the victim's male loved ones rather than the victim. I understand how horrible and helpless it is when someone you love is a victim of a violent crime, however, a rape victim should not be further burdened by having to worry about how the men in her life are traumatized by the crime committed against HER. How many women do not report being sexually assaulted because they are afraid of what their husbands, brothers and boyfriends reaction. They are afraid of their loved ones anger and them getting into trouble by going after the rapist which only adds to the victims guilt and shame. I understand the anger that comes with having someone you love being abused in any way. However, it is crucial that you do not show that anger in front of the victim because it is not about you in that moment. You have to suck it up and be there for the victim.
  4. In the short run. Every person I've known (and I know quite a few) who have done it have gained the weight back. They had amazing losses, and it took them longer, but eventually they were back to square one. I have had weight loss surgery and it did work in the short run. Before and immediately after the surgery I did lose a great deal of weight. However, I was only eating 600-800 calories a day. I could not maintain that type of restricted diet. A few years after the surgery my Lapband failed ( it turns out many of these devices are failing). Last year I began having pain where my port was located and one night I spiked a 105 degree fever. I was rush to the ER and told I had an abscess at the port site. I was in emergency surgery for six hours and they removed the lapband, a four inch abscess and over a liter and a half of infected fluids. The band had eroded into my stomach causing a hole in my stomach. I almost died that day. My surgeon told me that what I experienced is happening to more and more of his patients. At my six week follow up he suggested I have another type of weight loss surgery. I have debated doing it, however, I don't think I will. I am just too scared. Like Kate I have struggled with my weight and with my mother's issues about my weight all my life. When I was 12 years old, my mother went to the extreme of taking me to an out of state diet doctor who for a fee and without any medical testing whatsoever would give you a 30 day supply of synthroid, water pills and an amphetamine. ( This screwed with my metabolism in a major way.) It was the only mother/daughter activity we ever did. I can't wait to see how the writers deal with the struggles Kate and her mother will have about Kate's weight. So many mothers and daughters go through this. It truly is an emotional minefield. If written well, it could help so many mothers and daughters. So far I have been very disappointed in how Kate's story has been written. Those dieting group scenes make me cringe. I would love for Kate to find a group that focuses less on food (and the parceling out of crackers and cheez-its) and more on the emotional reasons why they need to self medicate with food. What is going on emotionally with Kate that is causing her to harm herself. Is it grief because of the death of her father? Is it a way for her "win" the power struggle with her mother? Or, is it a combination? When an alcoholic or drug addict stops using, underlying emotional issues rise to the surface. What is going on with Kate emotionally that she self medicating by overeating? So many people believe that if someone loses the weight their lives will be fixed and true happiness will be found. It would be great to watch Kate go through the emotional journey of weight loss.
  5. What is wrong with the primary guest that he seeks out opportunities to be on this tawdry little show three times? FameWhoreDom Syndrome
  6. I so want Ben to be on Top Chef. He would get his ass handed to him. I would love to see Anthony Bourdain and Padama critique his dishes. So far this year I have set my oven on fire twice and I burned tonight's meatloaf but even I know that you do not pour a mixing bowl full of ice into a pot of soup without tasting and re seasoning it. I feel bad for Kelly trying to manage those three drunken belligerent losers he has for a deck crew. There is not a single one who he can rely on to do his/her job, stay sober and respect the boat. These idiots were even disrespectful to the captain. When Nico started yelling at Kelly, he should have gone to the captain and told him of Nico's insubordination and request that Nico be fired. It was a mistake for Kelly to take that abuse.
  7. I am currently binge watching this show and am now into season 3. I had forgotten how great it was. I think the weakest part of this show is Bill and his business and political career. The real strength of the show is the relationship of the 3 wives, in particular the relationship between Nicki and Barb. These two women had their issues but they love each other deeply. I wish they would do a sequel to Big Love that would explore how these three women have moved forward after Bill's murder. It has been a few years and it would be interesting how they have evolved. Would they still all be living in their homes? Do they still believe in the principle? Have any of them remarried and how would that have impacted the family? There is still a lot of story to be told.
  8. The lack of leadership is the major issue for me. Yes, this type of emergency had never happened before, however, once the inmates had been relocated it seems like the CO's felt that their job was done. There was no one in charge who thought to get fresh water to the inmates. I know there was one water fountain in the rec room, however, if I had been an inmate I would not have trusted that the waterline the fountain was on had not been contaminated and I would not have drunk from it. Whomever was in charge was negligent. To expect inmates to go for over 36 hours without access to clean drinking water is a human rights violation. It was inhumane and set the county up for major lawsuits. If I were a taxpayer I would have been furious. This kind of lawsuits can raise property tax rates through the roof. I know it happened in the town I lived in, our tax rate went up over 25% one year because of an incident with the police. Also, a competent supervisor would have realized that providing clean drinking would have calmed a lot of the tensions that was building within the rec room. The disrespect for the inmates' human rights lead to tensions to build rise to powder keg levels. It did not help matters that some CO's were drinking water and soda in front of the inmates. Again, a competent supervisor should have been there to give direction to the CO's and to tell them things like "It is not a good idea to be drinking in front of dehydrated inmates. This behavior will raise tensions and make it a much more dangerous situation for staff and inmates." A competent supervisor would have known to send someone to Costco to get some water. He or she should have also bought some favorite commissary type items while at Costco. Giving out some free honey buns, Snickers Bars and Raman Noodles would have made the inmates happy and bought some goodwill.
  9. I love that young lady! I hope she has learned a valuable from having a ringside seat to the dysfunction of the Cynthia and Peter marriage from hell. I pray that she has seen and heard enough so that she will not tolerate being treated badly by anybody she is in a relationship with. Mama Joyce and the old ladies chanting "We are getting paid" was repulsive. They really use Kandi as their personal ATM. Mama Joy may be right about obtaining a quickie divorce if one of the parties is incarcerated on a felony. However, the financial settlement and child custody are different issues. Those aspects of a divorce is much more complicated and can drag on for what seems like an eternity.
  10. Curious about your insight into this. I've been in a few shitty relationships but I don't think Zac calling Ashleigh a cunt=emotional abuser. She doesn't speak up for herself, she seems to call him on the phone and he tells her what he's up to because she isn't talking about anything. He doesn't take into consideration that she's sleep deprived and being influenced by drug use because she never talks to him about anything. When shit hits the fan, he buys off her affection and she takes all his gifts. If anything, I think both of these people are socially awkward and have poor impulse control. All couples argue and words are said in anger. I called Zach an abuser because of the way he says mean things to his wife. Even when he is being "nice" to her there is an undercurrent of meanness. His projects an attitude of "you will always be dirt under my shoe and be grateful that I am with you.". He talks to her in a tone a parent will use while speaking to a small child when disciplining him. I can only imagine how he treats his wife when he knows he is not being recorded. Ashleigh's body language is very different when she is interacting with Zach. She becomes very closed off ands exudes shame, hurt and anger. It is obvious that he views himself as being better than she is and that he married beneath him. He uses this to keep her down and for her to stay in her place. He says he wants her to get better but he really does not want her to get better. If she did gain self confidence she would realize she and her children would be better off without him.
  11. I so wanted Olivia to look Sonny in the eye and point to Morgan's coffin and say "This is why I kept our son a secret from you. It still would be my secret if you had not shot Dante in the chest at point blank range.." LOL. I can't get that song out of my head now. When my 10 year old niece was a toddler it all Dora all day and that song has haunted me for years. Even the mention of the word "map" puts that song in my head. I even do a little dance in my head to that tune.
  12. In the "Panty Pinata Polarization" episode Leonard gave Penny Sheldon's mother's phone number so she could win her fight with Sheldon. Leonard said that Sheldon's mother was his Kryptonite. When Penny told Sheldon that she would call his mother if he and Amy had a baby thru artificial insemination, Penny was making wise use of the Kryptonite because he would not listen to reason.
  13. Everyone in that church needs to take a breath and think for a second and say "ya know Sonny it would be the best thing for us all if you did eat a bullet. However, don't do it indoors where someone will have to clean up the mess you will make. Go outside in nature and do it there where no one will find you and your rotting self. Leave yourself for your spirit animal the vultures. This election has really brought out the dark side in me. I guess I have no more patience with narcissistic sociopaths whether they are real or fictional characters.
  14. When your marriage is on the rocks it is always a good idea to conceive another baby. (rolls eyes) Postpartum depression, sleepless nights, a very young toddler added to the mix and a husband who is an emotionally abusive douche on a good day....what could go wrong? I know I should not blame the victim but I can't understand why women in abusive relationships keep have babies with their abusers. I know abusers often want their partners "barefoot and pregnant" to keep them dependent on them. It is just another way for the abuser to control their victims.
  15. A good storyline for Sam is to start embracing her Cassidine roots and help Alexis by investigating Valentin. He has already "killed" Nicholas, tried to kidnap Spencer and has taken control over the Cassidine empire. He is a danger to her, Danny, Alexis, Kristina, Molly and Spencer. You would think she would be curious about him. I know Sam and Jason are busy babysitting Carly and Sonny, but maybe it is time to let those two take care of themselves and start taking care of Sam and her family.
  16. Zach is an emotionally abuser. He likes the idea of Ashley having such low self esteem because it makes it easy for him to keep her under his thumb. He gets to play the "you are so lucky to have me because no one else your sorry fucked up ass" card on her. He is the worst kind of scumbag because he knows how to project the "I'm a great guy" image out in public. That's why in season 1 the viewers, myself included, loved him. His mistake was to have Ashley join the program for season 2. Their recorded calls exposed Zach for the abusive ass that he actually is. I hope she finds the strength to take her children and leave him.
  17. At first Quinn and Eric story was a big WTF is Bell doing. However, they soon became my favorite storyline. The actors playing Quinn and Eric have loads of chemistry and won over viewers in record time. It would be soap opera writers malpractice to mess with this pairing.
  18. Hey Kristina, Joss was Morgan's sister too. Did it ever cross your narcissistic pea brain that Joss my need her father right now? Jax loved Morgan and was a wonderful stepfather to him. You are not the only one who is grieving.
  19. There was also that time Michael was in prison and was raped. And when he had a girlfriend who got crushed by a crane, and then his next girlfriend left him for a zombie. And then he met his biological father and found out his entire life was a lie and all of the trouble that happened to him- being shot, committing manslaughter, going to prison, getting raped- was definitely avoidable- if only his mother had decided she didn't want a Quartermaine to be his father, but rather a mobster. That kind of took up Michael's time. Morgan was okay, safe, and meeting Kiki. Exactly! Poor Michael is Jason's Second in Command when it comes to cleaning up the Corrinthos' messes. He was Morgan and Kristina's caretaker their whole lives. Because of Carly and Sonny's selfishness Michael never had a chance to be a child. Sonny and Carly ruin everything and everyone.
  20. A 35 year old drunken Ben walking around naked on the docks and boat is just a big old NO. There are no excuses for his drunken behavior. He is not in high school or college he is a 35 year old grown ass man. If he can not control himself while drinking then he should not be drinking. If the Captain had seen a naked Ben running around the docks and boat he would have given Ben a plane ticket home.
  21. I think Richard was fully intending to go along with Lorelai's plan, however, when Rory showed up at the house unexpectedly he crumbled. The look of terror on his face when Rory fell apart in his arms broke my heart. He and Emily had never seen Rory in such despair. He felt so helpless and in that moment he just wanted to "fix" her and give her whatever she wanted to ease her pain. Rory was being very manipulative. She knew if she went behind Lorelai's back and went to the grandparents BEFORE dinner that night that they would help her get her way. Emily and Richard were wrong for not going along with Lorelai's plan but I can understand why they did what they did. If Lorelai and her parents could have calmly talked it over that night they could have come out with another plan. If Lorelai could have kept her cool and Richard could have explained what kind of state Rory was in when she came to see him that afternoon, things would not have gotten so out of hand and the "rift" could have be avoided.
  22. We just elected Vladimir Putin to be president of the united states.
  23. I can totally see him threatening Melania with him being able to take her son away from her if she does not tow the line.
  24. Yes!!!!!!!!!! He was a Constitutional Law professor. SOTUS Justice would be a perfect post presidential gig for him.
  25. This is why Ridge should NEVER be CEO of FC. The Jewelry Pass idea is a brilliant marketing move that will make FC money. Ridge can not put his ego aside and focus on the financial well being of the company because he is an "artist". He is not looking out for the best interests of the company because he is not in charge and he hates Quinn. He has proven over and over again that he is a failure when it comes to the running of the business end of the business. Ridge my be a first class designer (and asshole) but he is a disaster as a businessman. If he were an reasonable adult he would realize this and give up trying to run the business side of things and stick to what he does best, being a "dressmaker". Rick is a great businessman and has a great deal of experience in the running of both FC and FC International. FC was highly profitable during Rick's tenure as CEO. If Ridge's ego weren't so huge he would allow himself to make amends to Rick and start treating him like an equal. Ridge could be in charge of the creative side of FC while Rick ran the business side of FC. They would be a great team and what better way to respect their father's legacy. If they did this Eric would be able semi-retire in peace with the knowledge that his family has put aside their differences and come together for the good of the family and FC. That is what Ridge should be doing but will he? No, because in Ridge's kindergartener brain FC is MINE, MINE, MINE , MINE. He is such a douche.
