I am so happy that people have been posting in this thread again. I always like reading/writing about Columbo. I really enjoy most of the episodes and when watching a mixture of Columbo and "new" Columbo it is noticeable that they used more than one basset hound as there are distinct color variations between the early/later episodes. Of the newer episodes, I really like the college one (love watching the students' reactions as they realized that they did not in fact out maneuver Columbo), the one where Tyne Daly just eats up the screen (she killed her husband who owned a football team), the Dabney Coleman one in which he kills his wife (and he was in an original run episode as a sargeant working with Columbo so I love that he went from colleague to murderer), and probably a couple of others. More missteps with the new episodes than the original one IMO.

I so wanted to love this show. I watched the 1st season and then this season in quick succession. Overall, I find it to be quite underwhelming. Far too much human interaction that doesn't ring true to the era. I am not a fan of Mrs. Hall interjecting herself into every action and conversation. I am also not a fan of Mrs. Hall not doing her job-the three coats with cow digestive yuck all over them and then telling Siegfried to darn his own clothes. I'm not confining her to "women's work," but I am expecting her to do the work associated with being the housekeeper. I couldn't believe that she was being semi-rude to Siegfried's date for Tristan's birthday dinner or to Tristan's date who mistakenly thought she was Siegfried's wife (hey, not everyone knows all the business of one of the local veterarians in town). As they are modernizing many of the characters and behaviors, I think they should have modernized their view on spaying/neutering dogs and cats. Of course they should have neutered Trickie Poo, but instead they celebrated that he could "be himself." Yep, and that is why we have overcrowded animal shelters. This is a story that they could have just left out if they didn't want to present "fixing" as the far better option. If they want a story with cute puppies, then just state that Trickie got out-don't celebrate "he's a male doing male freedom things." I do like Tristan and James. I absolutely love the scenery and the occasional animals. So, yes, as the show will be back for seasons 3 and 4, so will I. But, I do wish they would leave some of the overly wrought dramatic stories out. Maybe create the soap opera version of this show and then have two shows instead of just one. Maybe some like "All my Loves Great and Small..."

Although beautiful, this was a non-epic leg as there was not any order shuffling even though it seemed like Arun and Natalie had a chance to overtake the twins. So, Ryan and Dusty are portrayed as the team to beat even though I think Penn and Kim have now won more legs. I do wish the departure times were more staggered because it seems like the producers are encouraging teams to work together by releasing them in groups.

S14.E05: It's Not a Shore Thing

(super small voice) shouldn't we be discussing Jasmine in a different thread-maybe her season or social media? I truly do not mean to offend anyone but I want the dirt on the current participants... -
Okay, this is going to sound horrible but I don't mean it to be. I was just thinking about this and wanted to ask-to be considered a neuroscientist, wouldn't Mayim actually have to be working in the field? Although I have a doctorate and was a teacher, I don't reference myself that way anymore as I am retired (but I do refer to myself as a former teacher). Even though Mayim has a doctorate isn't she more accurately an actress (well, and game show host...)?

S01.E01: 2 Joes Are Better Than 1

I also use the plural. If you are talking about something where one would use "us" it is "me." If it is something where one would use "we" it is "I." -
S03.E05: Power of Veto #2; Live Eviction #2

Wow! After watching this episode I also wanted Mirai out. She was really nonsensical in some of her ramblings. Old people, only Asian, Cookout? I really did not get her point. I looked it up and about 6% of the U.S. population is Asian-American. So, if this was truly the first time she had been the only Asian-American in a group, then she has had an unique life always being surrounded by other Asian-Americans. I agree with others that something had to have happened off-screen that led to the vote being 7-0. I think Chris Kattan was totally shocked to be there after the vote. Don't worry Chris-just go take a nap and everything will be okay. -
So, adios to Sierra (I think) who was the one who told Clayton about Cassie and the current villain. She suffered the fate of being eliminated after telling the lead that his "chosen" one is actually a snake in the grass. Loved her attitude when she left. I think a lot of the women really don't care about Clayton but they want to ensure that they get to go to Europe and continue their screen time.

90 Day Fiancé: Pillow Talk
seacliffsal replied to Frozendiva's topic in 90 Day Fiancé: Other Spinoffs & Specials
I just don't understand why they have Ron and Betty on this show. They add absolutely nothing and I think she is trying too hard by eating escargo. And, I have never seen anyone eat a bowl of them; usually one receives about six but it looked like she had a huge amount. With all the iterations and seasons of all of these 90 Day shows I would think they could find actual participants rather than family adjacent commentators. Okay, that rant is over... I find Molly boring (but at least she was a bona fide participant. I think Veronica and Tim should be on every week. I did like Kenny and Armando and they had some good comments. My eyes were a bit teary when they had their puppy with them and talked about Truffles. -
Guy's Chance Of A Lifetime - General Discussion
seacliffsal replied to FormerMod-a1's topic in Guy's Chance Of A Lifetime
Want to know why Phil's chicken stand came in last with the public? Because he was singing the whole time. Geesch, why did he think that was a good idea? On several of the reality shows I watch (Project Runway), the contestants think that the audience wants to hear them sing. Maybe some viewers do, but not me. Especially if they are off-key or a bad singer. I really don't understand what the point of the final challenge was-Kevin, who won, created a dish that while good would be too expensive and labor intensive for the Chicken Guy restaurants. If Guy was looking for new recipes to incorporate, it just isn't fair that he could take the contestants' recipes for free. Oh, and waiving the franchise fee does not equal paying them or even a cash prize. And yet they all seemed so super excited about the waiving of the franchise fee. Maybe these contestants don't understand what a franchise is and how the fees/royalties work. I don't see how there can be multiple seasons of this. Maybe it was a one-off solely to advertise the restaurant? -
I just found out that this show will not return for 2 weeks because of the Superbowl, which, like others, I only watch when my team is in it. TLC, you never loved me-liar! Ben is a jerk. "Never been loved" I really hope his children are confident in who they are and will not be overly hurt to hear/watch him say this. What a jerk. Oh, and now he's not only a stalker, but a stalker who thinks he is a writer. So, the other passengers on the runaway train were supposed to be so enthralled with the true love of the dancing couple that it calmed them and distracted them from the ensuing disaster? I guess they had no other choice because they were dancing in the aisle and therefore the others could not leave their seats. Not only a jerk, but a truly selfish one at that. I hope the camerapeople at least were able to order something to eat in that restuarant. Oh, and Ben is pretty arrogant in thinking others don't understand God's will and/or true love. I don't want to watch him (or Caleb) work out shirtless. Oh, and Gino is a lying jerk. He continued to lie even though Jasmina had evidence. He must get away with a lot of things to think he could get away with that. I am hopeful that this was (finally) Caleb and Alina's final appearance. Caleb loves to hear his voice waaaaay too much, but he wasn't wrong when he finally told Alina that he was not the one who would be her lifelong aide. People think love conquers all, but there is a difference between infatuation and love as well as other considerations that are a part of love. Myself as well as some of my friends may want a significant other, but as we age there is the factor of becoming a caregiver and one has to be willing to do so. I am glad to not see more of this couple, especially as I thought Alina pushed way too much (like Kim does) and Caleb saw himself as an unique and special snowflake who would show us the path to enlightenment. I thought Ximena's tears before she accepted Mike's proposal were due to her really not wanting to marry Mike while knowing that her income would be cut off, and she would have to get a job, if she didn't accept. I really wish TLC would keep young children out of this mess. Those sweet boys are going to be in for a lifetime of hurt if Ximena doesn't marry Mike (I still hate how Tifany continually allowed Daniel to build up his hopes and then she crushed them every single time). I just can't take Memphis' voice and way of speaking. She also sets impossible standards and expectations for Hazma. He can't work until getting a green card! Also, it shouldn't even be 50/50 as she has children and he is not responsible for them (so, at most, he could eventually be responsible for 25/75). She will want a home/apartment that has enough bedrooms for her children-that's on her. They need more food to feed children-that's on her. Yes, I know, when one marries someone with children, one expects to help take care of them, but I just find her expectations ridiculous. Pre-nup? Okay, then get a Tunisian lawyer for Hazma. She wants him to pay for the wedding? Then keep it simple. However, it's her continual demeaning comments to him that most bother me. If you don't like him, then....wait for it....don't marry him!

I liked the young couple in England mainly because they seemed to like each other. Way too many episodes where I wonder why the couples are even together. For no other reason I would have gone with either of the over budget options solely due to having some outdoor space. Yes, they could have saved $200/month by going with the two bedroom option, but I think the extra money for some outdoor space was well spent (and I don't really think there was doubt that she would be able to get a job). He should be an officer as he joined after getting his college degree, so although they are young, he would at least be getting a solid housing allowance. And I love that they got a cat!

I think I figured out why I so prefer Ken to Mayim and it's that Ken lets the game speak for itself while Mayim uses the game as a way to highlight herself.

My greatest regret watching this was that I didn't remember to use my mute button earlier. Yikes! Each and every designer had to give us their "little engine that could" speech multiple times throughout the episode. Just stop. I also don't need to hear all of the children saying how great their mothers are because that is what I would expect and I would rather see more of the clothes. And, I guess being "strong" negates having any humility or humbleness. Yes, I understand this isn't a popular opinion, but I loved having Tommy Hilfiger there. Love his designs or hate them, he does understand the market. I do value his comments and perspective. So prefer him to Elaine and her over favoritism in spite of what the actual clothes look like. While I did like a lot of Coral's designs, I understood what TH said about it being two collections. I think that through all of the seasons they have looked for a clear collection and that is where she fell short. Had she gone more towards her tailored line I think she would have won. I haven't been a fan of all macrame all of the time, but she did have some lovely pieces. I also think Nina proved TH point about maybe buying 1 piece of macrame but not multiples. I just can't with Chasity. "The fashion industry needs me." Why? They already had Bob Mackie. I agree that she will sell to performers but she consistently seems to really have just one aesthetic. She is very self-important and throughout the season I felt she was trying to become famous or an influencer more than a designer. I think Kristina's rejection of Christian's advice cost her in the end (she specifically stated that she wasn't going to follow his advice). The celery pattern was just a bit too self-indulgent.

I thought it was Amanda who Stephen was also developing feelings for as well as Kurt (there is so much wrong with this sentence but I'm super tired and had a lot of wine...). -

Too bad Atlanta and Boston aren't closer together because the perfect 90 pairing would be Lindsey and Virginia... I must be the only one, but hearing someone farts and has clogged up a toilet doesn't really offend me (I, too, once clogged up a toilet...). So, LIndsey only made herself look bad when she said Mark did those things. However, I am right there with Lindsey about Mark wanting to slow down after having sex. Mark-those issues were there BEFORE you had sex, so you are the one making yourself look bad. -
I think the race would be more interesting if three or four of the teams that didn't return had been able to do so. There seemed to be some versatility and competence in some of those teams (but not all...). Instead, the two eliminated teams came back and we are just rewatching them again so it's almost like the race isn't progressing. But, I am glad that Arun had a good time before he and his daughter are soon eliminated (not a spoiler, solely based on watching them...).

While I do believe in God, I am right there with you that people need to take responsibility for their own bad decisions and nonsense. I would also like to add that God is not Santa, AND that God may answers prayers with "no." It seems that far too many of these participants (and people) think that because they asked for something they will automatically get it (if that was the case, I would have won every huge lottery payout...). So many people told Memphis to slow it down, but she was set on getting exactly what she wanted without listening to anyone who expressed any doubt.

S01.E05: Pool Party Paradise

I am really enjoying this show. As soon as Jennie decided to use her gold coin I thought she was gone. Stephen really seems to not like the drama that is occurring between Carolyn, Kurt and the others so I thought he would let her go for pulling a "Carolyn." Both guys seemed to be glad to have a date without the level of drama that had been with Carolyn, and so when Jenny seemed to be heading in that same direction it was time for her to go. I did like that Jenny wasn't going to allow Stephen to comfort her (I always think that people should just leave without massaging the eliminator's ego). I hope that Kurt wakes up and realizes what life with Carolyn would be like and lets her go. She was like the cat that ate the canary when she encouraged Jenny to go to the vineyard-it was like she was savoring the ensuring drama that would cause. -
I believe that Ryan has stated that Dusty stayed by his side the entire time of his trial and incarceration. Therefore, I don't think he will ever be angry or upset by Dusty's changes of attitude. Akbar sure berated Sherri when she couldn't keep up with him or the other racers (which may have led to him thinking he was in good shape), but as soon as it was just him and the other racers his tune sure changed. He may have had the idea that if it weren't for Sherri he would be finishing in the top each time. I am so glad that he finally had to face the reality of his own performance even though he did try to justify it (oh, I have big feet [I would wager that Penn also has large feet as he is also tall], oh it's my weight...), well, the thing is he seems to have forgotten that he was a college athlete at a Division 1 school... I hope that Sherri has this episode playing on a continuous loop at their home (yes, I am evil like that). I am so glad that Arun had a good time as I don't think he will be enjoying the race for much longer. I also wish the teams had driven themselves and don't understand why they were driven the whole time unless production didn't have time to accommodate racers getting lost. Oh, and I did notice production had someone in a kayak to show the racers which way to go once they got in the water (probably so they wouldn't paddle over the dam).

Also wanted to comment on how much I like the design of the house this season. Except for the chocolate room (mainly because I would want to eat all of the faux chocolates...) I would stay there for a vacation. Kudos to the design team. And, yes, I understand that for "celebrities" they have to make it nicer than for the regular season.

I really enjoyed this and am looking forward to this season. I didn't dislike anyone but I think Teddi could shortly be on my dislike list. I felt for both Chris Kattan and Lamar as they both seem socially awkward. I found it disconcerting that Lamar was drinking the champagne after detailing his addiction issues. I am probably in a small group of 1 that really likes Carson. I like his humor and found it interesting that he pretty much knew everyone. Also, as he is an equestrian, he is in pretty good physical condition and I do believe he threw that competition a bit. I know Chris Kattan mainly from The Middle. However, once Frankie lost her job at the car lot he disappeared from the series.
