  1. THIS is how you do a series finale! (Cough Castle cough HIMYM cough.) Not a clever surprise like The Bob Newhart show that took place at the inn, or the American version of Life on Mars, but with a lot of heart, callback to earlier characters and a lovely happy ending. That was a sweet scene between Carl and Mike, and of course the baby and pregnancy conclusion. Maybe corny and cliche, but I'll take it. A nice send off. "Life sucks, and then you die." TV shows don't have to.
  2. I thought this as well, but my alternate thought was maybe Christine did do it because she was worried about how her overachiever mother might react to a less than perfect report card from her "perfect" daughter!
  3. OK. The tornado was supposed to be a mile wide. That thing looked like it was hardly that. Walter picked up the "dry ice" with his bare hands. Without saying ouch. I thought the widow seemed a little old for Vietnam era, though I guess they could have been older than the 18-20 year old draftee. I liked Walt being moved by the widow's sense of closure. I liked the back-up hat. I always enjoy Happy's obligatory, "Not good." It's a fun hour, and I laugh with my kid about the ridiculousness.
  4. I've become suspicious whether all those pictures on Fran's phone are actually ex girlfriends. I mean, how many ex girlfriends does he have?
  5. Good grief, this show likes to kill people off. And such a likable character/actress. And she had kids! That was one ugly dish Stevie cooked up.
  6. That was a good fake out at the beginning of the episode. I thought it was going to be Brett walking in on his wife and the charter school guy. There was so much tension where they left off so dramatically last season with Brett driving towards them as Michelle and David escalated their flirtation. It was awhile in the episode before we knew what had happened. I was afraid I had missed an episode.
  7. Here's how cynical I have become about this show: I suspected in the COTW there was more going on than appeared. Maybe the mother and the murderer were in cahoots to kill the son, and the mother was trying to get him out of long jail time, shades of Pamela Smart. Fortunately not. I'm not surprised it's loosing viewers, combination of the darkness, the complete lack of levity this season, the long hiatus, and the densely stacked Thursday night lineup. I think I'm ready to cut it loose after this season. I'm only hanging on because I think there are only 4 more episodes.
  8. I noticed that perhaps they were flashing between the characters and the actors as themselves, Eddie and his red-haired friend had different clothes on part of the time. So "as themselves" would be current time.
  9. Alyssa, dear, just because you are a mommy now doesn't mean you have to wear mom jeans. That is all.
  10. On re-watch, the first dress Jess tried on would have been perfect. Love Cece and Winston together.
  11. I thought the family interactions after the unexpected death of a family member seemed very realistic. The milling about, so many people you don't even really know who are. Painful episode. I wondered though about the death being so quickly declared a suicide. I felt it extremely unfair to hold Henry to blame for the suicide because of an incident that happened when Henry was 17 years old! I was disappointed the scammer turned out to be one of the father's friends, and a sympathetic (otherwise) character to boot. On a shallow note, where can I get a striped sweater with the blue sleeves like Bess was wearing at the family house?
  12. I so adore Colin Hanks. Quick rewatch before deleting - Colin on the plane feeding pretzels to that giant dog face, got a flashback to Turner and Hooch.
  13. I think Leonard and the girls were in the scene together and the rope was CGI'ed into the scene. Not that it really matters, I just am often curious how they do things. Interestingly, the ad that came on right after TBBT for the Late Night Colbert Show had Colbert double dutch jumping with some little girls.
  14. This was the best episode for me in quite awhile. No political "jokes." No Ryan or Boyd. Some pathos, I really felt for Eve, she had been planning for West Point for several years now. And loved Tim Allen's delayed wall punch reaction. It felt real. It hurts when your kids hurt.
  15. What a beautiful episode. I too was afraid they were going to do the "baby born - old person dies" trope, but so glad they didn't. Perfect for Christmas night. I so love this show and am so glad there is a Season 5 coming up in the spring.
  16. I really enjoyed the cowboy episode. I thought both Booth and Bones looked fantastic in their cowboy/cowgirl get ups and there was a lot of fun stuff, shooting competition preceded by cowboy trash talk, and horses, and Aubrey showing up in his ridiculous poncho and hat. Not so much the second episode. First off, I thought they were going to kill off Aubrey. Glad not. I hated Arastoo coming back. I don't want any time spent on Cam's love life. I thought it was very disturbing those kids were the killers. My red flag went up when Hodgins mentioned all he needed was aspirin. Never take aspirin if there is any bleeding! Then I forgot about it until . . . I'm not thrilled about the paralysis storyline, with the wheelchair looming outside his room. Good grief.
  17. Aha! She did! She said it as she and Walter were running to the train tracks with the grease cans. (rewatching for funny parts mentioned by other posters.)
  18. Please let Arastoo stay gone. I never found their relationship the least bit believable. Zero chemistry. I thought Christine and her baby brother was sweet. But yeah, did she sign for and carry the box to the baby's room?
  19. Betty Gilpin played Isabel, who faked her own murder. I know her from Nurse Jackie, Dr. Roman.
  20. Best line of the night, as the team is lined up in a V formation waiting for the helicopter to pick them up, aerial view, Walter's cape flying in the wind, says Toby, "I can't believe how awesome we must look right now."
  21. I was prepared to come on here and say I didn't laugh once, or even smile at the third episode with the Clompers nickname, and then at the very end, I did. When the mom goes to the school and confronts the kids that called her son Clompers, she says "Dave might be OK being called Clompers, but I'll tell who's not." First kid: "Is it you?" Second kid: "I feel like it's you." Something about the way he said it I guess. There's a kid making the best of a small part. The first episode had a few laughs for me, the Molly drug joke, and the giant prisoner in the cell with Dr. Ken. Other than that, I gave the show three tries and it's just awful. Can't stand the girl in the office with the high-pitched voice, never liked Dave Foley, can't stand the daughter. Ken is annoying and mugging and wooden. Yuck.
  22. Why would the war criminal even keep the ledger in the safety deposit box? I would think there would be a possibility of it being seized as evidence. Why wouldn't he have destroyed it? I did enjoy Happy when the banker and customer walked into the safety deposit box room, "Hi!" Have a sausage."
  23. I just started watching this and am so distracted by that idiot countdown clock, HUGE btw, that I don't even know if I can watch the episode. I am so annoyed!
  24. I kind of hated this episode. First off, I hate torture scenes. Secondly, I found it rather confusing. I was so confused I sought out recaps of the episode and most of them also expressed confusion about what had happened. I thought this recap was fairly good at explaining some of it and pointing out some of the puzzling elements: http://twocentstv.com/graceland-recap-review-hand-glory/ I was enjoying this season more than last until this episode.
  25. I don't think they even have teeter-totters on the newer playgrounds. There might still be some relics around. I think they can be pretty dangerous. I remember when I was a wee thing, the person on the bottom just got up off the thing and I went crashing to the ground. Those merry-go-round things are mostly gone too I think. I also agree with someone earlier who was disappointed with the little bit the seesaws actually were used in the final number as performed. Again, the camera work didn't help, you sure couldn't see everything that was going on.
