  1. It's a stylised A. Again, Miles is an idiot. No I'm not talking about the A. I'm talking about the omega. This is the stylized A for Alpha: I'm talking about the Omega on the yacht, and on Claire's bathrobe:
  2. I liked the episode. Good mystery, and they finally found Janis. Hope there will be more revelations soon.
  3. It's really a wonderful film. Very Jane Austen-ish and great fun to see we get the full treatment of swelling music, horseback riding, and sunlit kisses, just like any other period rom-com. Plus, there was a painting of Mr. Malcolm's black family at his estate, and it reminded me of the famous painting of Dido Elizabeth Belle, equal to her white cousin. I love that the movie is making clear that diversity is not out of place in a period drama.
  4. The movie itself doesn't state their relationship. But when the movie was first shown to critics, somebody asked Rian Johnson about the cameo, and he said that yeah, Blanc is gay, and Hugh is meant to be his partner. But because this is a spoiler, some reports were rather quiet about it. Here's an article mentioning it. The movie had some funny moments, such as Blanc getting into the pool with his entire outfit on, and him standing behind a naked statue to eavesdrop. Well, Poirot never handed over a weapon, but he does approve of vigilante justice. (If you don't know the endings of Murder on the Orient Express or Curtain, look there for examples of Poirot doing things outside of the law.) I thought of another one in Dead Man's Folly, but I just now remembered that the book ended differently than the TV adaptation.
  5. According to Andi's journals, which Helen told Blanc about, Miles did do something. I'm not sure how, but he somehow got Birdie a gig, got Lionel published, and got Claire elected to a local, pre-Governor office. It's kind of vague in a "things started happening" way. I guess he did somehow have useful connections, and then Andi brought Miles along on Alpha for some reason. But you'd think she wouldn't let him be co-founder. She could have given him a lower level job without all the "partner" credibility. It still bothers me that Andi let Miles in her house, and Blanc talks about how she's too smart to fear him. Um, she's too dumb and trusting, if she didn't fear him showing up out of the blue like that.
  6. Plus Jason claimed that Santa was beardless because he had "alopecia" which is a callback to the Sitwells on Arrested Development.
  7. I thought Netflix would add the Christmas special to the existing Murderville episodes, but instead they listed it separately so I had search for it. Marshawn Lynch came back for a fun cameo! Jason Bateman and Maya Rudolph were great, though I thought the Pete Davidson appearance was very unnecessary and far too late. He didn't even do any investigation. I figured out the killer based on the name tag clue but then they threw me off with the accomplice thing.
  8. I think Jane must have thought Todd was a lawyer, because I don't think he said specifically that he was a private investigator for the firm. Took me a while to recognize that lawyer from the previous episode. I wonder why they brought him back to be a love interest? Did they intend him to be that all along?

I still don't understand what "absurdities" or "bad fantasy" you're talking about. But I'm not going to argue with you. To me, it's just the mythical World Turtle standing in as an allegory for climate change. I liked it.
  10. I loved it. Very charming and funny. Also tragic but full of tender moments.

That's a very extreme take. They didn't say they had no fuel at all, just that using Pando as a fuel was killing the turtle. It's like how fossil fuels are killing our planet, but there are alternatives like solar, wind, geothermal energy. They can invent a new fuel or make new technology. They can't make a new turtle. No one needs to go back to the 17th century, and they most certainly did not look like they were in poverty, much less needing slaves.
  12. Denise's parents were great. They even mentioned Jojo, and Connor still follows her on reality shows. He doesn't seem as heartbroken as before.
  13. I just ignored the stuff about the Contractor's instagram pics. The rest was a pretty funny. I liked how Tom and Connor switched clothes so people mistook them for each other. The kids sold Connor's stuff for money, and Connor looked like they must have sold expensive stuff cheap, but he didn't even explain it to them or say they shouldn't have sold his stuff without permission. I did like the fake snow in the the house; the family can still have fun without going overboard/extravagant like Connor usually does.

Spoilers for Strange World: Wait, how is the allegory immoral? It said the people were living on the back of the giant turtle, and that when they traveled underground, they were in its stomach, heart, immune system, etc. They destroyed the Pando to save the turtle. (Actually I don't think they knew it was a turtle, just a giant living creature.) They had to learn to live another way without the fuel. How is that immoral? I liked it. At first I wasn't going to see the film because I was weirded out by the blobby creatures I saw in the ads, but then I heard about the gay character, so I watched it. It's a nice family dynamic, and I loved that Jaeger didn't miss a beat when he found out his grandson was gay. He immediately moved into advice about how to win over the guy Ethan liked. I also liked the way the father/son problems got resolved. Ethan told everybody "there's no bad guys", you just have to figure out how to live cooperatively in the environment. Callisto was a good character, and I didn't know Lucy Liu played her until the end credits.
  15. Wow, nothing on the Cons list? I was expecting more Pros, but to have no Cons listed at all? Nothing about being a hypocrite regarding his "buy local" and anti-gentrifying campaign? And no concern about what the new owners would do with the shop? Plus what others said above about the workers. Last season, didn't he hire that girl to be his apprentice? They even had a quincenera for her and acted like Calvin would be her mentor. But what's going to happen to her without Calvin, given her record of being in trouble with the police? The new owners aren't going to keep her, assuming that it stays a car shop and doesn't get turned into something else. I mean, they went through all the trouble to have Tina quit her cupcake business and come back to the shop. Now the shop closes and her job's gone too. Is she still just a volunteer music teacher, or is she getting paid? I don't see why Calvin needs to retire now. He's not that old, and he doesn't need to take Tina's job too.
  16. yeah WTF with these crazy plot lines? MaxDot Manufacturing is not taking MaxDot money? Why the fuck not? It's a spinoff company maybe, but it IS actually related to the company. What is this with taking private money to fund it? None of this makes any damn sense. And if it did need private money, there's still no mention of Bob just selling his stupid yacht or whatever. I'm sick of Christina as janitor too. God, this show is chore to watch now.
  17. Another thing I thought of--the company is referred to as Alpha but we constantly see a logo which looks like the Greek letter Omega. It's on the yacht, and on bathrobes. Is this another sign of Miles being super stupid, that he thinks Omega is the same as Alpha? I also think there were was a mural in the dining room that looked like Kanye West with a trident I think. Very weird tastes.
  18. I wonder where the past seasons will stream. They were on Paramount when CBS had the show, but then they removed it after CBS canceled it. I haven't seen it show up on Peacock yet, but maybe I need to check again.
  19. Yeah Tunde was totally in the wrong. This show is annoying me more and more. I want to delete my season pass and give up on this season. But I still sometimes hope that a good episode will come along, or they'll come back to a plot they dropped, like Abishola becoming a doctor. It feels like the writers are just doing random plots and forgetting previous history.
  20. Yeah, I rewatched it, and I guess he does look shocked/amazed when he sees her. Apparently he didn't stay to watch Andie die, because he sped away in his car, almost "pancaking" Duke. When Blanc talks to Helen, he says the death was "nonviolent" and the killer didn't need to watch her die, just set her up in her car and leave. Although I wonder why Ethan Hawke's character had enough bracelet things for both Blanc and Andie (Helen). Also why that injection/gun thing had enough doses for all the people. If Miles only invited his friends (5 boxes), and he knew Andie was dead, then why expect so many guests? Did his crew just prepare for plus ones for each invitee? Like if Claire had brought her husband? I guess Whiskey and Peg are considered plus ones for Duke and Birdie.
  21. Was Steven the stoner guy who appeared every now and then? I kept wondering if he would turn out to be the killer, or at least a red herring. Also when they said that the gun was missing, I thought Claire must have taken it off him, because there's a definite moment in the movie when she bumps into him. I was wrong though. The twist makes you rethink the movie and want to rewatch it knowing that Helen is playing Andi. However, if Miles knew all along that she wasn't Andi, then why didn't he confront her?
  22. So glad for Zhilan to be out of the wasteland and back to interacting with everybody. Glad she finally made up with Pei Ling. I assume that Bo smashing that glowing thing released Xiao. Unlike in the library, where the runes trapped her, she was able to go wherever, and I guess she homed in on Pei Ling pretty quickly. I enjoyed Sebastian getting to help at the library; his story at the restaurant has been so frustrating. I want to know how Xiao became Bo's shifu. Like where is he actually from, and how did she contact him? How did she give him the swords and make him meet Nicky?
  23. If Bob needs collateral for his loan, why doesn't he use his yacht? Or at least sell the yacht so he doesn't need to take out such a large loan? These stupid writers are annoying me with their crazy plots.
  24. The November episodes had some funny sketches and guests, but the next episode isn't until Dec 16th. I mean, I know it's the holidays, but it's been approximately 1 episode a month this season. They need to be more regular.
  25. When they kept talking about Genesis, I thought it might be a resurrection spell to bring someone back to life, but instead we just see Henry absorb a ton of magic energy. I'm not sure what the Zarco guy wanted from Genesis or how he expected to control Henry. Looks like Xiao is still inside Pei-Ling. Is there anyway to get rid of the alchemist and let Zhilan come back?
