  1. I'm relieved that Zhilan broke out of prison sooner rather than later. I was not looking forward to a season of her stuck in her cell being bullied. I wonder why she left her pendant behind, though? I didn't get Althea's stupid boss complaining about her working "in front of everybody" then complaining about her working in the nap pod too. What the hell is she supposed to do all day, if you won't let her work on Loungr's actual app? I hated the whole scenario. I want Althea to do something else, maybe make some app that helps Ryan's doctor's office or something. Anything other than this stupid Loungr crap. I don't get why Mia ran off. Is she afraid that if she gets too close to the family, then Sasha's going to murder them all like they did with Mia's New York friends? Also I thought the writers were trying to make us suspicious about her for a while, but she definitely recognized the fringe jacket.
  2. I thought Corey's dad was sneaking out to have an affair, but I guess he was just fighting with his wife. Glad that Dean and Corey made up.
  3. Yeah I suspected the neighbor guy as soon as the cops showed up at the house. I thought, "who would have called in a tip just then? Maybe the neighbor guy called the cops as soon as the mother called him. He's only pretending to help."
  4. It was nice for Christine and Dottie to make up, but I don't know why Christine was in the commercial. She's going to get fired from her new job for appearing in a competitor's ad. I don't know why she'd agree to this, or why Bob wouldn't see the conflict of interest. I thought she'd just stay off camera and just be there for "moral support" but no, there's she's singing and dancing the jingle with everybody else. She's SO fired.
  5. So many guys tried way too hard with the rowing. First the guy who took off his shirt. 🙄 Then three guys tried to serenade them with "Row, Row, Row Your Boat"! Why wouldn't you at least pick a love song for the serenade? Then when the singing didn't work, they all jumped into the water. Why would that impress her? Stupid gimmicks. They should have waited until they were on land again to try to speak to her (or the family) during the picnic. My understanding of Captain Kim's story, is that he was friends with the girl since 5th grade, but they only started dating in high school. For him it felt super serious because he'd known her so long, but apparently she moved on from him to somebody else.
  6. Yeah I'm not liking her prison storyline so far. Will she eventually be able to break out and see Kerwin again? I'm not sure how she could apologize, though, unless he accepts her help in getting away from his dad Russell Tan. I hope Ryan can have a happy lovelife this season. I forgot what the chef's name is. I thought they were going to say that Mia was the one who buried her mother. Because when Nicky found Mei-Xue's grave last year, she did ask "Who buried you?". Yet Mia didn't mention burying her mom, and she made it sound like she didn't return to her mom's cabin until after Sasha and company killed all the friends in New York. So, again, is there another relative in hiding? Is it Mia's father?

    Cyrano (2021)

I thought the movie did sort of suggest that at the final scene. When she says that Cyrano is reciting the letter from memory, and not reading it, she doesn't act shocked at the revelation; she's very flat in fact. And then later as they discuss she says something like "I knew" or "I loved you." I don't remember the exact dialogue. But if she'd already figured it out, then why didn't she try to say something after the war? Why was she still waiting on Cyrano to confess? It just felt very muddled. I'm also kind of annoyed by that random nun being aware of Cyrano not eating, yet Roxanne didn't notice him starving himself, even though she's getting regular visits from him. Like, why? I knew that the original play had a tragic ending, but I'd hoped that Wright would have altered the ending to be happier, since this is a musical. I mean, the comedy version Roxanne with Steve Martin had a happy ending, but I guess Wright didn't want to Disney-fy this movie by letting Cyrano and Roxanne be together. Peter was wonderful, though, and I second the wish for him to get more leading man roles.
  8. I think Harry's actually operating somewhere below his previous hideout/headquarters. They said it was in some abandoned section of underground tunnels that is somehow undetectable by cops or government. Even so, it is still ridiculous. I can hand-wave it away though. This episode was good, though I'm sad we saw so little of Ms. Li alive. I just was wondering about her bruises, and the next scene, she's dead! So terrible. I agree that Delilah was less annoying.
  9. Was this show just a miniseries, or will they try to do a different woman the next season? Because they didn't just call this "The Mamie Till story", I thought they might do more civil rights women. Has there been talk of renewing it?
  10. Yes, the episode was funny. Gloria and Kemi were cute too. I just hope the baby stays hypothetical for now. BTW, is Dele back in American school for now? Seems like his visit has been going a long time, and he'd be missing classes from whatever school he goes to in Africa. Surely his dad would have something to say about that? Oh, I had a thought, since Abishola mentioned that she still takes care of Bob's mom in addition to her hospital job-- What if Gloria takes over taking care of Bob's mom, to earn extra money? That would relieve some pressure off Abishola and maybe Gloria can interact with Abishola's mom too.
  11. It looks like they still upload clips to Youtube, so I can still watch there. I hope they'll still do that with songs and skits, because those are great. ETA link to the show's Youtube channel.
  12. this season has been very uneven, juggling Poison Mary, Poison Ivy, and Marquis as Joker. I thought about giving up on the show, then I thought, well, it's only 13 eps this season. Might as well stay to the end. I have no idea if they'll renew it again. I did like some parts with Mary and Alice, but Luke has been very annoying. At least he's let go of the AI now and is fully Batwing. We never found out if Sophie has a new day job now. Is she just living off savings while working for the Bat team? They never said where specifically they sent the blimp to blow. They said the area was relatively deserted, but it was still in the city wasn't it? I hope they didn't let the acid rain go over like slum parts of town and kill a bunch of poor people, because that'll mean we get more guilt on Luke and Sophie, and maybe Gotham will blame Batwoman. The new monster definitely looked like he must have been drenched in the acid. It looked like he had a boney leg and maybe claws.

    Cyrano (2021)

I saw the movie, and Peter is excellent as Cyrano, but the songs weren't very good. There's be one or two lines per song that were hummable, but the rest would be bleh and uninteresting. Also, it seemed like we'd get extraneous characters pop up like that at the bakery or the soldiers on the warfront, and they'd sing songs, but then disappear again. Like, it's hard for me to care about random people. And the movie never explained what happened to the Duke guy after the war, or why Roxanne was living at that church. Like, if she became a nun, why wasn't she dressed like the other nuns?
  14. Okay that makes more sense to me. It definitely looked like a professionally painted portrait. Really sad story.
  15. Yeah this baby stuff came out of nowhere. Why should she have to put medical school on hold just because everybody else wants to pressure her into having a kid? They are moving too fast. Plus, wasn't the previous episode about Abishola having nightmares due to all the stress she was under to be a perfect wife and obey her mother? What the hell, writers? 😡 Just finish the medical school stuff, and spend more time with Dele if you want kid stuff. It's already too crowded with Abishola's mother here anyway.
  16. I'm not sure I understood the note on the back of the painting. Ella signed it? She painted it when a kid?
  17. Yeah, if they're changing this show to Peacock Premium only, they could at least wait until the end of season 2. To make this change in the middle of the season was an unpleasant surprise. I guess I will eventually upgrade for her and some other Premium shows I like, but that means I gotta decide which one of my other streaming services I'll have to cut for it.🙁
  18. It was so great seeing her happy and smiling. They've been writing her so dark and depressed lately.
  19. Well it was kind of indirect. Estella said her husband died four months ago, and it made her think of Phileas, so she sent him a postcard from New York. We're supposed to figure out that 4 months ago means she sent it before his 80 day trip, and probably the card just took a few weeks to arrive in London on the exact same day as he made his bet. I would have thought he would then ask, "but how did you send it without a postmark?" Apparently the show just forgot that detail. Also I found this article/interview with the show creator, talking about the finale and what he plans for season 2. He actually kind of dismisses doing "20,000 Leagues under the Sea" because of Disney making a version.
  20. In the book, it was Inspector Fix who got him arrested, and so when Fogg was released (after the real bank thief was caught), he punched Fix. In that case, the betrayal was more personal, since Fix had pretended to be a friendly fellow traveler on the trip. I did like Fogg fighting off that gang, yelling stuff about an "English boarding school." But I wonder why Estella waited seemingly hours to show up at the train station when she knew he had a deadline, and then she didn't offer to talk to him while traveling to the ship, to help him get back on time. They mentioned the Coward postcard, but I think there's still a plot hole, since there still no explanation for the lack of a postmark. Glad that Passepartout and Fix worked things out. Before the next adventure, they can spend Christmas with Fogg, and maybe Fix can introduce Passepartout to her father, as she wished.
  21. I'm sure they meant Battle Mountain, Nevada. Fogg did comment, "You're a long way from Oklahoma" and Bass responded that he was on special assignment to capture Abernathy. That's why he's so far out West. He'll probably head home after turning Abernathy over to authorities. Regarding the horses, I kept thinking, "What did you do with Bass Reeves' horse? Did you hitch an extra horse to the stagecoach? Wouldn't that throw off their rhythm?" Maybe I should rewatch and count the horses.
  22. I watched the first episode before I realized that 2 and 3 were on Peacock Premium. I don't know that I've seen enough to upgrade and watch the rest. I'm worried about what's going to happen to Tre back in Philly. Hillary was fun, and the love interest Lisa is cool. Not sure I like Uncle Phil or Carlton much. Why so much antagonism within the family? Why can't it be drama with the people at school, not at home?
  23. But Fogg said that postcard had no postmark on it! How did she get it to England? Well, I guess we'll find out next episode. The actor who played Abernathy was John Light (he plays Flambeau on Father Brown). He's British, not American. No I think that even in 1872, that it would still be relevant in American history. Lots of ex-Confederate soldiers still acted like the war wasn't over. Some joined the Ku Klux Klan to terrorize freed slaves. Some became outlaws in the west as "bushwhackers" wanting revenge on Union soldiers. I think Jesse James was in one of those gangs. At least that's what an episode of The Pinkertons TV show told me.
  24. I thought this was going to be a typical sitcom plot about Dean being awkward and jealous at the dance, but then the show did that shoplifting thing, and that was a good swerve. Dean was able to genuinely cheer up Keisa, and Kim was awesome. I assume, when Kim was pretending to be Mom, that she told the store clerk not to call Keisa's parents; that she would do it herself. I think in the bedroom when she was vague about the clothes, Keisa was saying she wanted new clothes but was trying not to make it seem like she was too poor to have nice clothes. Then when people said she looked nice in the dress and makeup, I think it made her think she had to keep it up. I would have thought that Kim would have gifted her some makeup if she kept wearing it to school. Good for Dean to tell her she was always pretty. Not that all her self-esteem should be in her looks, but in the moment, it was the right thing to say.
