  1. I had to google that. I was thinking of Ben Turpin, so I was confused. Anyway, this sounds like a show worth checking out.
  2. I thought the same thing. On both counts. BTW, I was wondering about the title of this ep, Gregory's Garden Goofballs. Seems like a very random title. Was this phrase actually said?
  3. I donated there a few times. I was made aware of it from The Colbert Report, I think. So is the show's school named after Quinta's former teacher?
  4. I'm glad I never watched Arrow. Actually, I don't think I've ever seen the actor before. I think he's doing a great job as Manny. And I'm glad Tariq is back. He has A LOT of bad qualities, but he often overcomes them to show kindness or goodness. And man, is he funny! Barbara: So you'll be here. Tariq: Yeah, twice a day for the rest of the year, or until, you know, I find a job or meet somebody else. Barbara: [pause] So I'll be seeing you every day. Tariq: Why, you don't think I could meet somebody else? Tariq: May I have a word with you, Your Honor? Ava: You may approach the bench. Loved that he tried to steal Play-Doh. And took the Lunchables. Loved Mr Johnson saying he was going to get his holy mop water. Why do I feel that he's going to actually get some money from the Nigerian Prince?
  5. This is a pet peeve of mine. I hate ever-present scoring, esp when people are having a conversation.
  6. I guess where my confusion started was when Peter told Danvers that Wheeler was left-handed, she responded, "I didn't know that." I first took that as her saying that until Peter told her, she didn't know. But maybe she meant AT THE TIME she didn't know that. But still, who knew he was left-handed? When did Danvers and Navarro learn this? I don't know if Peter explained this more clearly and I wasn't paying close attention. Is this clear to everyone else? I miss that show. I wish it hadn't been cancelled.
  7. There was another trooper who was beating Leah before Navarro stopped it. Did Navarro continue to beat Leah? I didn't think so. 😆
  8. I loved that. First off, when the woman warned her that the urn was hot, that was a fantastic detail. Navarro hugging the urn was beautiful. Like I said, this whole sequence was my favorite part of the ep. What? When did she beat Leah?
  9. 😆 I don't think we'll ever find out with absolute truth. I think the show will just use this as a funny and effective running gag. I'm with you. Their getting together seems to be the endgame, but I really don't want this dragged out with miscommunications or one is ready to commit but the other is dating someone else, and then that switches back and forth. I think Melissa said something about unless a miracle happened, she wouldn't want to get married again. Then during the Eagles zoom thing, she said this is a miracle, so Gary was like, "A miracle! She said it!" Of course he was wrong. Like others, I'm glad the show didn't have her suddenly change her mind and give him a Yes, but I also didn't like that she just ended their relationship. It seemed so sudden, but obviously, like she said, she had told him many times she didn't want to get married, so...
  10. Why didn't I like this ep? I've read complaints here and elsewhere about previous episodes, but I was liking this show until now. Can't stand the mining co lady. Kate is it? Just evil. No layers. I mean, Hank wasn't a great guy, but he had complexity. Maybe my problem with this ep is that while I was intrigued by the mysteries and wanted to discover what was going on, once things started to be revealed, they were underwhelming. Not sure what I expected or wanted. I'm a little confused about the Wheeler case. The guy was left-handed. The photos of his girlfriend had been flipped to show that it was a right-handed person who hit her? Who flipped the photos? But the photo of Wheeler's supposedly self-inflicted gunshot wound wasn't flipped? I'm sure this makes sense, but I obviously misunderstood. The only part I liked was the beginning where we see the cremation process. I'd never seen the entire process before, so that was interesting. If this is the extent of Rose's involvement in the storyline, what a waste. She was one of the most interesting characters (and actors) in the show, but what was the point of her? Maybe she'll figure more significantly in the final ep. I'm still interested in finding out what happened to Annie and the scientists.
  11. I didn't like it. I get the sense that that's where the show is going.
  12. Loved Ava's "sleeping" glasses with the eyes. Her Harvard sweatshirt was great, too. AND the way she pronounced Harvard every time she said it. I'm not sure about the district trio. They may just be exactly who they appear to be: happy, optimistic, eager to help. But, yes, each one of them gives off a weird vibe. That could just be part of the joke. Career Day is a great idea. I don't remember ever having one of those at any time in my school days, which dates back to the '60's. Since I'm not big into football, I felt detached thruout the whole "Oh wow! The Eagles quarterback!" bit. It didn't help that the QB was a terrible actor. (Handsome as heck, though.) Happy the show is back.
  13. Don't say that! Take it back!
  14. That's a pet peeve of mine. In police shows, the coroner will tell the detective what they found, and they'll always define the term, like Petechial hemorrhaging. I'm positive every detective knows what that means. I understand why shows/movies do that, but it often sounds clunky to me.
  15. Hmm. That's interesting. I never noticed Rose only interacting with Navarro, but she was the one who called in discovering the Corpsicle. 😆 I did feel bad for Hank. He's not a great person, but still, it was sad seeing him standing out in the snow holding the teddy bear, all expectant. It's always amazing to me how some people are easily scammed.
  16. Maybe. She's on The Bear, which is a critical and popular success. I liked it, esp the second season, but I know a couple of people who really didn't like it. (BTW, I thought it was kind of strange when Ayo in her monologue called it just Bear, no 'The.') She's excellent on that show. I also saw her in Abbott Elementary, though for some reason I didn't think she was a good fit. Maybe I should rewatch. I haven't seen any of her standup.
  17. It was a ship. They called it a dredge. I saw the body with the blue hair floating in the water inside the ship -- obviously a vision or ghost or whatever of Navarro's sister -- but I didn't notice the other ghosts having blue hair. Maybe it's stretching it, but I can buy it. She had bright blue hair, so that might make spotting a body more likely. The blue hair would also make it easier for identification. I can accept that a guy on the Coast Guard ship would recognize her. Don't forget Rose! I don't know how normal she is, but she was having a lovely Christmas.
  18. I assume she, like lots of people who do videos, recorded herself talking and then planned on switching the camera to shoot whatever she was seeing. Her body wasn't found there, so whoever (whatever?) moved her body took the camera also. Don't know why she/he/it would do that.
  19. LOVED Ayo. She was great in all the sketches, even the ones I didn't like. The sketch with the hypnotist was the best. She was soooo good. She carried the sketch. She was also fantastic in the drug sketch. The thing is, she knows how to create a character. Not all hosts do that. The Trivia Game sketch was great, too. She and Ego were on fire. I liked Why'd You Say That, but did they do a similar sketch several eps back? Doesn't matter. My first laugh was when Mikey Day said, "No thank you," and left. I thought the Morning News Show was ok. Nothing great, but I did think it had a good ending. That's rare on SNL these days. I had absolutely no idea about the Dune popcorn bucket. Weird. Gross. The CO... man. At first I liked Charles Barkley and Gayle King. (Nitpick: I didn't like when Barkley introduced Trump as President Trump.) Anyway, like everyone else in the world, I was appalled that Nikki Haley was in it. I'd like to know how that came about. Did the show approach her? If so, why? Did she or her people approach the show? Just a weird, big-time mistake. I'm trying not to dislike Sarah, but I'm really tired of her mugging. Her bit as CJ just went on too long. Didn't care for any of it. And I'm tired of the running gag of her, in one character or another, doing jokes/pranks/whatever at Colin's expense. I'm bored with it. I started listening to J-Lo's first song -- Does she still go by that? -- but I decided it just wasn't my thing. I FF'd thru the 2nd one. Ayo made this ep a success. She was delightful and funny.
  20. I really enjoyed this ep. The supernatural/spiritual elements are more prevalent than I expected, but I just decided to embrace that instead of fight it. (I remember when Lost was airing, the creators said that everything would make sense scientifically, so I was irritated when it turned out they were lying.) Qavvik telling Navarro that she was not alone was fantastic. Love him. I also loved when he seemed to be on the verge of asking her to marry him, but he was just distracting her so he could reset her broken finger. When Navarro was saying goodbye to her sister after taking her to the center, you just knew that the sister (Julia?) would die. There's something about how these kinds of "final moment" scenes are filmed that make it obvious. Bugs me. The person under Julia's bed was wearing a cross. Was that the same necklace that Navarro threw out of her car (in the first ep?)? Also, was that supposed to be their dead mother? I noticed the Teslas parked outside the mining company offices. Made me laugh. Evil company. Evil car company. Do Teslas function well in the cold? I loved the scene where Danvers comes to Connelly's motel room and does a little strip tease with her heavy socks. That was cute. At the end, Navarro's ears are bleeding. I think her eyes were ok, but it looks like she needs to be more careful with them spirits and such. Not sure how one would do that.
  21. I can't tell you how many times since watching this ep that Nights on Broadway has invaded my head.
  22. Was it at the house where Liz went, where the women gathered for the stillborn baby? There are a lot of eerie ambient sounds in many scenes, though like you I'm not always sure what's ambient, what's the soundtrack, what's supposed to be in someone's head. A character did talk about that in a previous ep. I had to google to refresh my memory: Silver Sky Mining is funded by an NGO, which in turn is owned by a company named NC Global Strategies. It is actually a shell company that belongs to Tuttle United. How long ago was the Wheeler case?
  23. Geez, I was way off. For some reason (like I'm stupid) I was thinking there was a confrontation out there betw Hank's "hillbillies" and the natives, and they were all brought to the hospital. (Why? Because I'm dumb.) So anyway, that's an interesting guess that the hillbillies have gone wild because of ... contamination? And yet, that doesn't seem to be what happened to the scientists. So I guess I'm keeping my options open. :) Wasn't that the same place that Navarro imagined right after she hit her head on the ice? And again, geez. I completely missed that this was a flashback. I wondered what Navarro was doing going in to arrest the midwife. Yes, I saw her name was Annie. Maybe I hit my head on the ice. Looks like I need to rewatch. I didn't recognize what he was whistling. Makes sense that this is why she hates The Beatles. Earlier Liz strokes Pete's face, saying he needed to put ice on it. I thought it was an inappropriate, intimate gesture. I hate to think she's sexually interested in him. I hope it's just that he's a kind of an emotional substitute for her dead son.
