  1. Me too. I also read recaps, though I haven't yet for this ep, but I will also be pissed off if we need to remember S1 stuff in order to put things together. Was it the mother we saw giving birth who died along with her baby? No, I guess not, because they said it was a stillbirth. I'm not sure if when Lund sat up and spoke to Navarro if that was real. I'm thinking it was the spirits talking to Navarro. When Navarro threw the orange into the darkness, I expected it to come back. Just like in ET! That shipwreck on the ice... I'm assuming that has something to do with Navarro's mother's death. Navarro told Qavvik that her mother was killed, but I don't think we know if someone killed her or if there was an accident -- like falling thru the ice? -- that killed her. When Danvers has earbuds in, it sounded like static. Maybe she listens to white noise sometimes in order to concentrate?
  2. Watching him, I was thinking of his Michael Strahan, which also has a lisp. So I wondered, does Devon naturally lisp?
  3. Her costume seemed to match the back of the tarot cards.
  4. I have questions about the photo that Dakota showed in the monologue of the audience at the SNL 40th show or celebration or whatever. What year was that? And why were there so many big celebrities there? Trump and Palin, I understand, but Steven Spielberg? I can't remember who else was there, but it just seemed weird to me.
  5. I was trying to figure out why she looked so different. Some good, some bad. At first I wasn't into the Home Videos/paternity show sketch, but then I flipped. The performances were just perfect. I wasn't watching SNL when Jimmy Fallon was a regular, but I have seen a Barry Gibb sketch or two. I generally liked this. I couldn't always understand what Fallon was saying -- He definitely seemed out of breath -- but I liked him and Timberlake. The guests added nothing. Maybe that's how the sketch always is. Oh and who was Dakota supposed to be? The please don't destroy sketch was great. All the putdowns were hilarious. I liked several parts of WU. Che saying about OJ, "He didn't even do it!" cracked me up. I also liked Jost saying about Trump's de-bank speech something about taking de-ambulance to see de-doctor. I thought Ethan was a pretty good character, though I didn't think much of the lines were funny. I hadn't heard "Asians don't raisin" before. Jan Janby could be recurring. I don't care for the cross-eyed bit that Heidi incorporates into these weird characters, but the cards were pretty funny, esp with the reveal of Only Fans. Oh, and the catfish card was great. As for the rest... meh. The CO didn't work too well for me, but I think that was because of the execution. The writing was fine, but the performances were off. The restaurant sketch went nowhere. I agree with another poster who wondered why they kept saying chicken fongers repeatedly. Sometimes I find joke repetitions funny. It didn't work here. I think the sketch might have worked better if each time the server repeated the orders, the words got progressively wilder and weirder. Didn't care for Big Dumb Cups, though the Ugg-designed one that tasted like foot was kinda funny. The book club was bad. The lost luggage sketch was not great. Dakota is generally funny, but I think on a sketch show like this she needs to be quicker. There's too much pausing -- as one would do naturally, IRL -- and that slows things down. Maybe that has to do with needing to read cue cards. I'm not sure. But they all need to pick up the pace. I liked Timberlake in the monologue and the Gibbs sketch. I also really enjoyed his first performance. (I was multitasking during his second one.) Why was Chappelle there at the end?
  6. I assume that we'll get more info about their relationship, professional or otherwise, and that will explain why she couldn't get the files from him directly.
  7. I don't really feel one way or the other about Dakota, though I did enjoy the TV show Ben and Kate. Sarah, on the other hand, turns those promos into anti-promos.
  8. TMMM = The Marvelous Mrs Maisel Many times my brain crunches away trying to figure out abbreviations, so I feel your pain. :)
  9. I may have to rewatch that because I didn't connect the teacher with the guy Danvers was dancing with. Were both scenes in Part 2?
  10. I donate to a PBS station (PBS SoCal) and get a Passport membership. I don't remember how much I donated, but I think it was less than $60. Plus, I've done my donation to the station, so Passport is just a nice extra. I've also found several shows on there that I liked.
  11. I considered that, and it's certainly possible. When we see Roy give his call-to-arms on the website, I didn't check out the webpage all that closely. He certainly could have proselytized about his views on marriage and women. But there are tons of other sites and podcasts that promote the same views.

    S05.E10: Bisquick

I didn't catch any hints in the. I think it was referencing school board meetings IRL where people would scream about parental rights, curriculum, 'grooming,' etc. Just incivility in our current society.
  13. Thanks. I guess I was thinking of 'Poltergeist.' :D Don't make me look at my frozen turkey in horror.
  14. Shows he was stuck in his high school jock life. When he gave the I-want-a-wife speech to Indira, I felt sure he had watched a YouTube channel about this or maybe read forums that espoused these beliefs and desires. He sounded so much like he was parroting what he'd heard or read. I suppose it wasn't important how he came to these views. He was simply another example of a toxic male insisting on subservience of his female partner.
  15. Just to clarify: Was it Clark in the research facility who was standing, apparently having a seizure, then said, "She's back"?
  16. I just watched this. Really fascinating. I think that maybe the writer knew of this story and springboarded off of it.
  17. OTOH, I remember the Al Pacino movie 'Insomnia,' where he's a detective sent up to Alaska to help with a murder investigation. At the time of year up there, it's daylight all the time.
  18. I don't remember many details from S1 either. I did enjoy it though. I just hope that this season doesn't rely on having watched that first season. I'm thinking that the Easter Eggs are simply that -- just little bonuses for those who watched (and remembered) S1.
  19. All the scenes with them working the case were great and engaging. However, with whatever show or movie I watch, good characters and acting is important. One problem I'm having is still not particularly liking the Navarro character or actress. And of course it gets frustrating feeling lost as to the relationships.
  20. That makes sense. I didn't make the connection. That also makes sense. :) I was wondering about this, too. However, she was surprised at the cost of the Oreos, so it seems like she hasn't been in Ennis (or Alaska?) all that long. Maybe because she was friends with Annie and worked on her case, she developed a lot of empathy and understanding of the indigenous people. But not Danvers! She obviously has animosity toward them. I'm assuming it has to do with her son's death, esp since he was part indigenous, so she wouldn't have anger toward the people unless someone indigenous was responsible.
  21. Ahhh. I completely missed that he said that. Yes, spoiler.
  22. I don't agree that she didn't give a crap what happens to other people. If you had a choice (a Sophie's Choice) of saving your husband or a stranger, you'd pick your husband, but it's not fair to say that you're responsible for the stranger's death. I know this situation is different, but Dot was trying desperately to save Wayne. I can't say what she would have done if she'd known -- though how could she -- that the patient would have been kidnapped, tortured, and killed. She was focused on saving Wayne. I think when/if she finds out what happened to the patient, she would feel guilt over it. I know I would. However, I think in such extreme circumstances -- being chased by your powerful, abusive ex, and knowing that your husband was in the ex's crosshairs -- you're in self-defense mode, and that means saving your family as well as yourself.
  23. If she is, then that's unfair since the bodies were at least partially encased in ice. Who's to know if there was another body deeper in the ice. Pete made a remark about how it looked they'd been climbing over each other, so it stands to reason that someone could be on the bottom. I'm not saying there is; just that until they all thawed, you couldn't tell. I was struck by that, too, esp the Leah's reaction. I like seeing Danvers and Pete working together. For such a young guy, he's pretty good. After Danvers and Connelly had sex, they alluded to previous relationships. Connelly is no longer married. Divorced or widowed? And Danvers had had a relationship with someone named Jake. Do we know who that is? Also, Leah told Pete that her father and Danvers used to dance together. Did they have a sexual relationship? One character -- I can't remember who -- mentioned "the Wheeler thing." Again, do you know what this is? While Navarro was driving, she found a dropped cross necklace in her car, flashed back to a moment with her sister(?), and then she nearly crashed and threw the necklace out the window. Is it possible that she was responsible for the death of Danvers' son? I really like Qavvik.
  24. I guess I wasn't clear. I saw the screenshot and correctly thought it was of the guy laying on top of a grave, but I wouldn't really call that a spoiler. But, yes, I read a synopsis, and that was enuf for me. Holy s***. You're kidding me. I'm trying to figure out why a supportive would feel that way, but honestly, there's only so much WTFism that I can stand to think about. Welp, I was wrong. I don't get why that line would be written. Not funny. Not delivered well. I agree. He's reasonably attractive, but not drop-your-panties attractive like those skits were suggesting. Again, I agree. When I first saw the clip of the judge being attacked, I was shocked by and worried for the judge. I'm sure she got banged up, not to mention being traumatized. Still, Punkie did an excellent job. Ugh. I'm so tired of the show's 'both-ism.' Yes! If he's going to do a joke, he needs to commit to the joke and not feign surprise or annoyance at the audience's reaction. It's amazing when you watch eps from the early years, where Chevy Chase or whoever would do the news bits and just keep moving. No pausing for laughter or reactions so the anchor could react to the audience.
  25. To each their own, but I think he does a great job with the mannerisms. I don't care about him looking like Trump or not. I think it was an ad-lib. It wasn't funny, but I didn't find it tacky. She was just joking that she should get more applause. This morning I watched Conan O'Brien's appearance on an Irish talk show, and when he first sat down, he told the audience to please sit down, also pointing out that they were never standing. I think he's done this joke before (as have others), but it was funny, unlike Sarah's joke. BTW, after reading here that the still from 'Saltburn' was a spoiler, I went ahead and read the movie synopsis at Wikipedia. So, yeah, I guess that was a spoiler, though it wasn't on-screen long enough to see -- at least for me -- what was going on. Anyway, glad I read about it, because now I don't feel compelled to see it.
