  1. I am glad I deleted this from my DVR. I really liked Will at the start, but the slapdash marriage last series where the vows were rendered unnecessary was just bonkers to me. When I heard about Superman, it all made sense. No hate toward TB for wanting more for himself. I get it. It’s up to the writers to write sensible stories and end things clean. I always felt a Midsomer Murders set-up would have served this show better. When the young vicar’s actor takes off for Hollywood or says I am gone if I get this, replace them at once. No reason for others who have already been there, done that, to lose a steady gig in a tough business. Too late now.
  2. Sunday, October 15, 9:00 p.m. ET I knew the long (100% understandable) delay and life in general might mean the departure of some cast members. It will be interesting to see how it’s all handled in the narrative.
  3. Honesty I figured the writers just went whole hog on Regency 2023 with a mama-to-be bride, even before the one year later. Zander rocking up to Charlotte’s work with the baby at the end had me rolling too. The actors did carry it off, I thought, to their credit. Austen was in a class by herself and she never had to contend with actors leaving. They tried.
  4. I was caught up watching the Chiefs and Referees vs. the Bengals debacle on Sunday night and busy with work so just watched the episode last night. ;-) Party of one for Max and Clara. I loved their chemistry there at the end. Max seeing what’s been there all along and Clara not making it easy for him. Well done, Clara.
  5. So glad the show is back. It’s a visual delight from settings to costuming. I preordered the DVD before I went to bed last night (March 21 release, iirc) and am looking forward to next week. I watch as it airs. I do wish the episodes were aired intact and not split over two weeks. Argh, Max. A “flirtation,” you say? Good grief. Grow up. Amelia 2.0 did the smart thing for herself getting out of dodge. Clara did the smart and fair thing for both of them letting Jonas go. Love her new occupation.
  6. As usual, no fanfare for Vienna Blood as with the other two shows returning the same night. Returning January 8 at 10:00 p.m. ET
  7. I get the distinct feeling the inept nepotism detective does not wish to be there any more than William wants him to be. William is of the time. Eliza is well ahead of it. Meeting in the middle is not in either of them, at least not yet.
  8. Bonnie could really just be a plot point, meant to get us somewhere too. It is written to me, however badly, that Will is more in love with the ready made family offered with Bonnie. For Bonnie, he’s a fantasy posh guy with a job she does not understand the implications of for herself. Mrs. C is probably not the only one who thinks of an aborted child from time to time and Will knows Ernie is missing his dad. We’ll see. This show really could focus more on the murders and stop mucking about throwing tragedy upon tragedy at the main players.
  9. Exactly. The characters are early 30s (?) in the late ‘50s. Will is many times around the block, but this is his first real relationship so Bonnie’s teenage dream behavior toward him would not put him off, I guess. Bonnie was married before and has a kid grieving his dad watching it all go down so it makes the flippancy around this from her side especially jarring, and a bit icky if I am honest.
  10. And what was with you did this and heard this before, re: vows? You should still theoretically want to say them to each other? Right? The actors are good and did their jobs and there are happy people on Facebook, but still WTF? 🤣
  11. This episode had the feel of one of my late cousin’s perfect Christmas wrapping bows. Did they think Tom would pull a James and bolt? Robson’s interview made me wonder. The older you get in show business the more you appreciate steady gigs. Tom and Charlotte did sell it to me, even if I found it sloppily executed, just like the Geordie and Cathy marital discord and reunion. Will is essentially in his first adult love relationship and Bonnie was, her words, young and rushed it with husband #1… It’s TV and 1959, but still not feeling it. It was nice to hear Mrs. C. mention Sidney. He’s long gone, but she would not forget him. Will and Leonard, blood brothers. And father and son Geordie and Will at the end was touching. They were nice flowers. I loved Will’s mother’s genuine happiness for her son (it was not the country house bonanza with a blue blood she surely planned on once), admonition of her husband’s snobbery, and Bonnie’s deft handling of it. The wedding was lovely, aged stick up your ass St. John.
  12. I was grossed out. Horndog Will was talking marriage and kids with Maya. Just no. I really liked Will at the beginning of his run too. Now I am debating whether to finish the series.
  13. Will/Bonnie is trying too hard and very rushed to me. It’s a shame as the actors are naturals. I loved the actress on Call the Midwife, but here what I think is intended to come across as free spirited and ahead of her time comes across as crass and classless.
  14. “A widow to be vicared.” Will did the right thing there. I like that Bonnie’s late husband is thus far a good guy husband and father who just did not light her fire anymore. It happens. Ah, Mrs. C. Loved the hug with Will. And Leonard penetrating the lord of the manor aura Will brought to the vicarage.
  15. Poor Mrs. C. I had a feeling she had an abortion after an episode in the Sidney era. Nice continuity. The church is lesser for not having Leonard. Will is not sure how to behave with Bonnie. Can’t just hop in to bed. Progress.
  16. “Entitled ease” at the vicarage. I have no idea why I did not take note of Dickens. Glad he is present and accounted for…
  17. She really is. And Will’s not much of an example for her son at present. Hopefully, Bonnie is a turning point for Will and an impetus to do better going forward. I could see Maya dealing with an unplanned pregnancy and seeking a back alley solution, whereas when Meredith got pregnant by 17-year-old Will the resources were there for it to be “dealt with” as Will put it, safely. Yes. Where is Dickens? What the Dickens!
  18. True. Will rushes things with every love interest we have seen. His parents, the prostitute, and Meredith preying on him did not teach him about healthy relationships. So I get it. Bonnie has a child so I hope any romantic relationship is one that helps his character evolve past hit it and quit it, however reluctantly.
  19. High sex drive. Lust. Infatuation. Rushing things with someone running from it with someone else. Bonnie seems nice. I get a “Jerry Maguire” vibe from her and the little boy off the top. And, Will pairing up with someone in Geordie’s family would make sense given how close they are. Even Geordie’s eldest daughter is still a kid. Bonnie based on the conversation with Will is Maya 10 years on regretting a youthful infatuation that went too far. First priority has to be her son. Will needs to learn the take tea, walks, and pictures part of dating and have a real first love. Mrs. C. and her son Leonard, lovely. Glad Mrs. C. has Leonard and something treatable. Will finally saw himself in the john. Still chasing the “passion and pain.” Good job walking away this time, Will.
  20. They made the vicar’s jazz club hook-up someone else’s fiancée, instead of two different people. Will is indiscreet, yes, and conventional, era appropriate wisdom would have him married off. He also has a lot of damage so is looking for love in all the wrong places, rather than the pews. Amanda and Hildegard had their detractors so perhaps the show is delaying the one as long as possible in favor of hot vicar?
  21. It’s really happening. Filming for series two is underway.
  22. Tough watch. A woman who delivered by Caesarean followed by an immediate hysterectomy in an emergency is not going to know how to get a baby who does not come out crying to breath. I understand the first time Marigold delivered perhaps the baby died, almost. That look when the cop asked if either child breathed. Whew. Marigold did not want them to… Chilling. It’s not respectable to cavort with a married man either. Did the married guy she had the arrangement with fail to notice she was ever pregnant having delivered two kids?! Her mother missed two pregnancies until delivery? I think the cop wanted to charge her and couldn’t.
  23. Something said check the thread. Woohoo! Great news. https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/tv/tv-news/vienna-blood-season-3-order-1235097298/amp/ MB said they all need a few minutes on location shoots just to admire the scenery and take pictures.
