  1. So besides all that, is this the thread for discussing other pitfalls of living the zombie apocalypse lifestyle?
  2. Only so much you can carry when your backpack magically disappears until you need it to be on your back during a really stressful scene where you find yourself nearly trapped in a very tight, enclosed space.
  3. Dear lord, Daryl has heard this! Carol way back at the farm told him multiple times, Rick has multiple times, Lori did in her weird way, Glenn has, on and on he has heard it over and over and over, Beth telling him over some moonshine was not the thing that made him realize this about himself. Sheesh, was Daryl burning himself in order to feel his sadness over Beth or was he doing that because he (LIKE EVERYONE ELSE) is so fucking numb he's desperate for something, ANYTHING to break through the fog. When he cried or Maggie cried or FPP cried or Sasha cried yes it was about some discrete individual but also godamn they were all breaking down because they are living in a horrific world of unrelenting pain and stink. If Beth wasn't a special little snowflake (which she wasnt of course) then Daryl is not a special little snowflake either.
  4. I think this is one of the many things this show is just so wrong about. Kikismom is most likely correct, keeping a huge band of people alive on the road would be impossible because you just could not keep everyone fed. I think in that situation, large band of people like that would hunker down somewhere and make it work there. For instance a prison that instead of leaving yourself exposed behind flimsy chain link fences, you would reinforce those fences with corrugated metal, wooden pallets, metal posts, etc and maybe even throw some old sheets and stuff over them to make it sort of like the entire thing is invisible to the zombies. Zeds could still hear though so other precautions would have to be made BUT you could start farming, even raising chickens (NO ROOSTERS!!!). Sheesh, anyone remember the scene in the Battlestar Galactica miniseries where Baltar was asked exactly how much food needed to be produced to keep everyone fed and he reeled off these huge numbers and at the end he admitted that was the very very bare minimum and even with that, people would still be very hungry. Takes a lot to keep us going! Life on the road could work for scavenger teams of two or MAYBE three if they were really a well oiled machine together but IMO, groups larger than that would not be able to make it on the road at all. Also......of everything on this show I have to suspend my disbelief over the fact that Judith is alive and well and fat is the one thing that I reject outright. There is NO WAY that baby would still be alive and look like she does (cute as she is and symbolic as she is, I wish she had already died, back in the prison really)
  5. Our band of savages are not traveling the main roads because they want to avoid the massive herds that would be clustered in and around towns and cities so by taking these less traveled, two lane blacktops, they avoid the herds but also find themselves going long periods of time on foot between tiny patches of former human habitation and even those would most likely be picked over or never really had anything useful to begin with.
  6. The way I'm taking it is maybe the series is making a big change in the story telling overall. Last episode was so trippy and surreal, now this one has this droopy, dreamy sort of fuge-like feel throughout that the final barn sequence just played out like a nightmaredream, it did make sense that the strong, healthy trees would be the sacrifice, the destroyer of ghouls, Tree Heroes making a stand for our puny heroes, there there give them rest now just a moment still a dream though yes must be has to be because there's ghostbeth again now a plastic twirlygirl in a pink box grinds stops ping always going to be singing to us my girl beth So then Aaron shows up, all sparkly clean, full face, hydrated rich beyond the telling of it in that mean world why would such a man even approach our feral band of heroes? Know what else I wonder? Why dont more people in our group bicker? You always have at least one obnoxious jerk in any group, we used to have Merl but all we really have is Abe's hair. Anyway, a little tour of Lost-land via zombieapocalypse Im all for it bring it on please
  7. I think this show is bonkers bananas, it's like an acid trip without all the pretty kaleidoscope flowers, it's like a fever dream while hung over, it's like a 5 year old explaining what cats think about, all of that soaked in thc infused whiskey. I think I kind of love it.
  8. It's just typical sound down south in the summer.
  9. IMO you have a moral responsibility to put down the walker.
  10. Well now Pete Martell needs to be on talking dead I need to decompress, where's Hardwick? Is Toy Plane ok? Does it have another gig lined up?
  11. Tyreese didn't even want to kill zombies though. How could you live in that world and not WANT to kill zombies even if you were otherwise unable to for some reason? He was just afraid and trying to hide his fear behind his "morality", his "heroism" for "saving" Judith (which yes he did at first and he did help Carol but when push came to shove, he did not finish Martin and he flat out "lied like a bitch" about it.)
  12. Love your post, pulled this because I agree so strongly!!!
  13. I can't do a screencap but I just watched and rewound and watched several times and it says "WOLVES NOT FAR", the reason it could be mistaken for saying "fair" is that the "FAR" is spray painted on a part of a brick wall where the top bricks poke out more causing a shadow. Eventually someone will post a screenie.
  14. There were many part of this episode I really liked and a couple things that just bugged. Well really just one major thing that bugged, why did it take so long for everyone to get back to Ty? I mean I know, somehow Noah managed to get himself trapped behind a wicker basket but still, he could have shouted more and Rick, Glenn, Michonne, they had to have been close enough to hear but somehow it took all damn day for them to get back to Tyreese (second bug was why the fuck didn't Ty at least attempt to tye his arm off?) That said, the parts I liked, I REALLY liked. I'm a big fan of trippy visuals, of artistic attempts to portray intense states of mind and I thought it really worked extremely well with Tyreese. It was so damn sad, the angels and the devils all around him at the end, both camps pushing pushing pushing him to accept death, the choice seeming only being between going out after accepting yourself wholly or going out feeling ashamed of yourself. I really did not like Ty after he "lied like a bitch" (thanks Martin you shit) but I really liked seeing the inner turmoil of Tyreese, liked seeing at the end he too was consumed with doubts about that in particular. I'm glad he settled down and accepted his emotional core as being ultimately pacifist and right now that world is not one for being pacifist. I LOVED how all those scenes were filmed, the lighting that was just not quite right, the odd angles, the trippy blending of hallucination and terrible reality. I SERIOUSLY loved the writing of the entire episode but ESPECIALLY Ty's final monologue! Man it was so perfect, he was saying shit that was slight re-phrasing other characters had said to him about him (he was quoting Martin a couple times), he was expressing his true understanding of himself as a man, he was mixing in weird shit we the audience never even heard before (had to have been some childhood stuff I guess). Even that final scene was shot with him shouting at the Gov while partially obscuring his face with his bloody arm and hand really hightened the experience. I've watched the episode twice now and I think this one i going to end up one of my all time favorites.
  15. I just saw this today, maybe Amazon will save In the Flesh?
  16. Sorry but I've got to say this because this conversation is bugging me (not that I disagree with anyone, mainly I agree!)....except for Andrew Lincoln, Lauren Cohen and David Morrisey, everyone else yall mentioned are speaking a southern dialect (particular form of a language that is peculiar to a specific region or social group), not an accent (a distinctive mode of pronunciation of a language, especially one associated with a particular nation) and I realize most everyone in the entire world uses accent to mean both so this is really splitting hairs (and the full definition of accent can very easily accomidate what all yall are saying here, I know that) but language is important and precision is important and damitalltohell dialect is the proper term (school marm in full effect now!). OK, thanks for hearing me out. Happy New year yall! (I was born in Virginia, lived all over the south east with over 30 years in North Carolina, regional dialect variations just within North Carolina are incredible)
  17. I would love at least one episode exploring what has happened to the rest of the world. Has England managed to seal itself off? For that matter, what about other island nations / states? Has continental Europe fared any better than continental America? Has peace finally found the middle east? Who has access to all those nuclear weapons? (my wife is sitting here reading what I just wrote and she chimed in with "well what about all the nuclear power plants? They would all meltdown within 3 months." I told her we've all more or less agreed to ignore that pesky detail)
  18. Excellent topic Cletus! I just finished reading Zomblog saga which did a TON of world bulding! Not just with how living humans deal with the zombie apocalypse but even with what happens to the zombies themselves. For instance, in the story, any time a herd passes through, the main group of shamblers is followed by "creepers", zombies with no legs, that's great! Even better is after the ENTIRE herd passes, where it had been the ground is littered with gore, body pieces and even the occasional (still lethal) head. Great stuff there. The humans fell roughly into three groups, Travellers (people who wandered all the time, never groups larger than 5 who scavenged constantly), Raiders (very bad people like Joe's gang at best and indescribably evil at worst. Seriously, one group of Raiders were so bad the author left it up to the imagination what exactly they had been doing but enough of the picture was painted you got it) and regular people who were doing their best to rebuild society. The world building was so rich, descriptions of dams failing, nuclear power plants failing, ammo running out, fuel spoiling, even road ways deteriorating due to no regular maintenance as well as the always encroaching nature. Society was shown to change in that regular people stopped being hung up on things like who is gay and who isn't, what race someone is, what god they prayed to (or didnt...although religious extremism was also a HUGE part of the story. I guess that sound contradictory but really, its not).TWD could take a page ot twenty from Zomblog imo.
  19. As shitty as the show was (is? will it really be back 2015?) Z Nation was not afraid to kill key characters.
  20. OK, I know Ive answered this already but here goes again and please realize, I am only speaking for myself. I am not "mad", "sad" or even upset that Beth is dead. I WAS mad her character was made to do the stupidest thing imaginable and got her brains blown out for it. I WAS mad because Beth lost her life without even drawing blood. I WAS upset because the arc the writers had constructed collapsed in the final 5 minutes. I never was over the moon about Beth but I did like her. She wasn't my favorite (that would be Carol) and I do not "ship" (not in the traditional sense, again Ive posted many times about how I think people would possibly combine relationships). I think the petition to bring her back is silly beyond the telling of it HOWEVER, as a previous poster said, just because people on THIS forum were not giant Beth fans does not mean there were not giant Beth fans somewhere out there (obviously). Sheesh, you might meet one million people that loathed the Grateful Dead and might think they just sucked ass because of who you met but what about the 15 million OTHER people that loved them? Only speak for yourself and your feelings, you are not everyone, you do not know everyone, you are not exposed to every forum out there (unless you are the NSA of course) Anyway, who cares? The horse is paste now.... {the part I highlighted is really what got to me and still bugs but Ive read so many responses here illustrating how many other idiotic deaths this show has had and...you know.....stupid show is stupid}
  21. I really dont think TPTB will go this way but (spoiler tag for comic) So I guess if they really really wanted to go completely off the rails, they could in fact bring Beth back. But they wont. I dont think.
  22. THIS! Exactly! It's not that she didn't get a "heroic death", the girl wasn't a hero! For me it wasn't even that she got a stupid death, what it really boils down to for me is #1 they gave her a freekin arc that they just forgot in the last minute of the last act of the arc and #2 Beth would have at least drawn blood. I mean really, the girl would have drawn blood. She wasn't a "special snowflake" (not to me anyway, besides everyone knows Daryl is the special snowflake), she's like everyone else in that world, everyone got cheated out of a life worth living but damn, the AUDIENCE deserved better (slash Dawn's face! Jab the tiny scissors in her neck!) We're beating a dead horse here aren't we?
