  1. I thought this was a sweet movie. I liked that the tone was optimistic. Except for one f-bomb and one beer, it was family-friendly.
  2. I hate to be critical, and maybe it's because I'm really sleepy tonight, but I didn't enjoy this episode that much. I'm really not interested in Zoey having a fling with a Kurt Cobain wannabe. There's too much going on...too many stories to follow. It's all a little superficial, and it's hard to feel that deep connection I did last year. Maybe it would have been better if there'd been a significant time jump...then they could meaningfully explore Maggie's flirtation with the handsome client. Maybe Covid protocols have affected the production more than we realize...or maybe success has gone to their heads a bit, and they're trying too hard to impress. Whatever has changed, I hope they can get back whatever is missing (for me at least) so Zoey's sophomore year isn't the show's last season. ,
  3. I don't know if I'm ready for Monday with Ken.
  4. I loved “Hello, Dolly”. I’m a proud theatre nerd and appreciate a good showstopper. The new character reminded me of Olaf a bit, annoying but also endearing.
  5. Thank you for clarifying the commercial. I had no clue there was such a complicated narrative. 🙂 The family is adorable, but that song is not my favorite. Why not have a nice instrumental? That way we could focus on the cute family rather than the annoying vocalist.
  6. Argh! My local station is showing a 30 minute commercial for Medicare instead of Jeopardy tonight. Why not preempt Wheel of Fortune?
  7. I am surprised by the criticism for this years' Bake Off. It was nice to have something warm and comforting to look forward to every Friday. Mel and Sue (I still miss them both) made the occasional PG-13 pun, so I either didn't notice or wasn't offended by Noel's humor. British sit-coms are full of humor that's more like a raunchy episode of SNL than the average episode of "Young Sheldon". I think the bakers were really hurt not to have a full week to 'rehearse' their bakes. Laura would have adjusted her recipe for custards if she'd had a full week to catch the weaknesses. Maybe the show is missing the gentle, (grand)motherly presence of Mary Berry to offset some of the silliness of Noel and Matt (and the coldness of Paul). Prue seems to take intentional delight in setting up impossible challenges. As a high school teacher, I know if everyone fails a test, that is on me, the writer of that test. I also thought her quip to Hermine, "By your standards, it's a failure," was especially mean-spirited.
  8. There have been quite a few stories showcasing the costumes worn by Emma Corrin this season. Does anyone else think some of the costumes were made deliberately too large for the actress, almost like she was a child playing dress-up? I think she does a great job vocally capturing Diana's voice and cadence, but she seems so child-like. https://wwwmarieclaire.com/culture/g34645668/princess-diana-vs-the-crown-emma-corrin/?slide=9.
  9. I mentioned the journalist who interviewed Alex earlier in this thread. It'd be nice to see him get an opportunity to guest host
  10. I would not enjoy Jeopardy James in the permanent position of Jeopardy host but could tolerate Ken now that he's mellowed a bit. Levar Burton would be a nice choice.
  11. Thanks for pointing out the hospital bracelet. I hadn't noticed it and wondered why the nice neighbor had disappeared.
  12. https://variety.com/2018/tv/news/wheel-of-fortune-jeopardy-abc-fox-cbs-1203019794/ It's a little complicated. I see Jeopardy on my CBS affiliate.
  13. I feel disloyal joining this discussion. If it's not Brad or Ken, it could be someone employed by ABC.. What about the anchor of the mid-day show who interviewed Alex earlier this year, T.J. Holmes? https://www.facebook.com/tjholmescnn/photos/10150245109846564
  14. My mom and I just said we thought he was looking better. A real professional until the end, he didn’t let us see his suffering. We will miss you, Mr. Trebek.
  15. It's shown live on the West Coast during prime time. I'm a prude: the language, the smoking, and the Mario skit bothered me.
  16. I liked the cold open. Jim Carrey as straight man, as someone mentioned upthread, was a big improvement. I didn't like the generalization that 90 somethings are Trump lovers and need to stand down. My mom is 97, watches MSNBC all day, and cast her ballot for Biden this week. Overall, for me this felt like the weakest of John Mulaney's SNL appearances. Maya should have been the host.
  17. I apologize in advance for my SNL whine this morning: I live in a rural area where people associated with militias are gaining traction. It's dangerous to think they are harmless. Some day one of these groups will not be detected until after something horrible has happened. SNL needs to be very careful when writing skits that feature these kinds of characters. I know it was a silly, throw-away joke during Weekend Update, but I was disappointed that they trivialized the situation. https://www.cnn.com/2020/10/15/us/pennsylvania-fetterman-woman-racial-slur/index.html I wish they would make Biden's character as likable as the Trump kids.
  18. Is the SNL cast following the cohort path (like my high schoolers will be if we ever get back to in-person school)? Maybe the reason why we're not seeing everyone together is so they have a second group on hand in case of exposure.
  19. Has anyone wondered if some of the Casa Amour folks are paid actors/participants? Why isn't the really attractive baseball player getting more screen time? There are also several girls who are not getting any screen time. I'm sensing producer manipulation, especially in the Carrington/Mercades/Johnny/Cely quadrangle. It all seems a bit pre-arranged. I am not as aware of those manipulations when watching the UK version.
  20. Oh, I'm glad I'm not the only one who finds Dr. Rick commercials funny. I liked the original commercials (that "inspired" Dr. RIck's "book" and commercial interventions) a few years ago, too. https://ispot.tv/a/doA(K
  21. So disappointed Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist wasn't nominated for something. This scene should have qualified it in the choreography category.
  22. Jensen Ackles is finally finishing up with Supernatural. Maybe it’s time for original recipe Eric.
  23. I thought the oohs and awws and gasps seemed a bit canned. You’d be surprised what you could find on a ‘80s era sound effect cassette.
  24. Anyone hear the news that Zachary Levi may be brought on the show in season 2? Speculation is he'd play Max's older brother. He does have a nice voice; I enjoyed him in She Loves Me (thanks Broadway HD).
