  1. Did I miss something? How did Kai get past the Redbones into his own house to mourn his mother?
  2. Several points: I was OMG when Mrs. Patmore asked Carson for investment advice, fearing that we were going to get a retread of UpDownstairs arc in which James lost Rose's money in the stock market crash. We do know how Fellowes likes to redo plot lines. But thankfully, no. (Where are we year-wise, anyway? How soon is 1929?) I feel a great deal of compassion for the actress who played Sarah (thanks Fellowes for making her such a ridiculous character that I can't recall her name ). She must have twigged immediately upon seeing the first couple of scripts that she was going to be the hated character. Yet, each time I screamed, "No, Tom, don't go to her." I had to remind myself that she's Fellowes' creation. Very surprised by Thomas's "treatment." I didn't know that there were "cures" for homosexuality that far back in time. In fact, wouldn't you have put yourself in legal jeopardy by admitting to someone that you were homosexual? How would you have found a "treatment plan" without endangering yourself? And agree with all posters who question the treatment of poor Marigold. How many "families" is she going to have in her first few years. These people are some of the most irresponsible folks I've ever seen. So, Russian racism rears its head. I haven't liked the surly Russian (not the NonCount) from the beginning, but now I really hate him. Strange that we've seen no plot line addressing anti-Semitism, which was very strong in Britain then. Well, Cora may be part Jewish, but apparently we're ignoring that. I'd like to see Rose and Atticus together. I'm imagining these actors plotting to have Fellowes run over by a bus: Carmichael, Rob-Collier, Sarah's portrayer, Froggett by now. Oh, and do we know why Isobel turned down Dr. Clarkson? He's intelligent, in medicine as she was when she was working, handsome as all get out, and obviously cares for her. Was there something I missed?
  3. You people aren't serious, are you, about the older couple being murdered? How in heaven's name would Dillahunt, et. al. cover that up? And that would really be awful. They stood their ground only to be murdered? All kinds of wrong. I don't understand why Ava doesn't dial it down a notch. Surely she must see that her behavior just sends all kinds of signals to Boyd that she's no longer in his camp. And has he caught on, or is he just too in love with her? I miss Dewey. No one will take his place.
  4. Thanks for the answers about Dewey. I wondered how he could talk there at the end if his jaw was broken, but I'm not an anatomist, so . . . Still, his death was awful and the actor (whom I don't know from anywhere else) really sold his dumb, sad, oppressed character. Bye, Dewey.
  5. I'm fairly new to Justified, and was just crushed by Dewey's murder. Did he ever kill anyone, or was he just a hanger on with Boyd? And Raylan's totally gratuitous breaking of Dewey's jaw was enough to make me want Raylan to suffer.
  6. Don't the Drewes have several children? When Mrs. Drewe came back from the dentist with one of the boys, only Marigold was in the picture. Where were the rest of them? They aren't old enough from school yet, are they, or have I missed something?
  7. Then I guess I love Tom, because I want him to have whatever he wants, even though the show will lose a lot, really a lot, if he leaves. Sorry to hear that Rose will be leaving. I've liked her more and more each episode. And fact check: She's Shrimpy's daughter, right, of the terribly unhappy Shrimpies? Each time I really want to punch out one of the characters, I have to remind myself that it's Fellowes who should be punched out, they're all his creations.
  8. I know I'm supposed to read the rest of the comments before commenting, but I just had to say this: Eolivet, you rock: "When are we gonna get married? Huh? Huh? Huh? Squirrel!"
  9. Sailor Girl, Bonneville is so versatile that I didn't recognize him in "Notting Hill" for the longest time. What a dork he was. But lovable. Okay, I see now that George can be considered Jewish. In fact, don't Jewish kids get their ethnic identify from their mothers, not their fathers?
  10. Except George Constanza isn't Jewish. I think the concept of pirates without the sea is hysterical. I will rewatch ep 4 just for that. Not as good as the first two, except for the pirates.
  11. Helenamonster - "Sex Week" - I love it. Off topic, but can someone remind me of why Isobel is a widow. And whoever says "Because her husband has died" will die himself or herself. No, I mean, do we know what happened to him? It wasn't the war obviously, because she was alone except for Matthew when they came to Downton. Thanks for help.
  12. Kick the eunuch is definitely not funny, nor are the references to mass killings. Where is the Game of Thrones reference for when I rewatch. I remember a Got ref on the directions sign in the first ep, but not here. Definitely Monty Python homage in the pirates song. Best part of the episode.
  13. Little Ann, you got them mixed up because this show repeats plot arcs over and over. So, no worries. I think we have to face it that the reason we hate the possibilities for Mary is that we miss Matthew so much. I really do. And are people being silly when they talk about either Anna or Mrs. Hughes killing Green? I thought so at first but when posters kept on about it I wondered. Frankly, Anna is incapable of this, I think. If she were capable of it, she would have killed him or tried to the night of the rape. And Mrs. Hughes - please. Have people watched Robert be the pirate king on Galavant. He's great, and funny, and you don't want to have Isis attack and kill him.
  14. I hate, hate, hate what's being done to Edith's character. It was bad enough earlier in the series, but now it's just an example of what a terrible writer does. So she just went to Switzerland and took Marigold. How did she explain getting off the train with a child? And really, she didn't feel or smell the fire? I thought at first that she had taken something to kill herself, and then realized she wouldn't leave Marigold. I wonder Laura Carmichael doesn't just leave, or have Fellowes run over by a truck, or something. So, Bates: We seem to have several choices: He killed his wife but not Green; he killed Green but not his wife; he killed both of them; he didn't kill either of them. It's so awful that I care less and less every episode, except it love Anna so much that I want to have things work out for her. So, why am I still watching? Anna, Tom, Mrs. Hughes, Isobel.
  15. How did they get everyone together to do this? And my sketch ended after Clooney turned around. Where did the rest of it go (I know there's more beacause of the content of the comments)? Funny, really funny.
  16. Holt's "Let's never talk about . . . anything" has to be one of the funniest lines ever delivered by Andre Braugher, and coming so soon after the bra in the baggie - these people deserve all the awards in the world.
  17. Some thoughts: I don't see giving Joe credit for being a "good man." If he hadn't been able to convince Danny to keep quiet, I think there's a a good chance he would have killed him. Also, what the heck did Danny think was going on all these weeks? There may have been no sexual behavior, but surely Joe was acting creepy. And when Danny says, 'you're sick," where does that come from? He must have gotten something from the "friendship", no? Also, if Joe is a pedophile, isn't it strange that it's just coming out now? I'd like to know what the stats are on someone starting in midlife like that. What if he's had other victims up and down the coast? Not victims as in dead, but as in molested. Very, very strange plot, IMHO. Also, I'm really conflicted about having such young actors playing roles with such adult issues.
  18. I just read somewhere that Letterman isn't leaving until sometime next spring. So why is Stephen signing off so soon? If he wants time off, that's fine with me, he certainly deserves it, it just seemed confusing to me. Anyone know anything? And I'm certainly looking forward to Larry Wilmore.
  19. Denay, I agree about Kyra Sedgewick. She was fine (not the character, but the acting) in The Closer, but here I found her just off and a steal of other characters' screen time. What is the blue drink? "Pour the eggs S-l-o-w-l-y into the skillet." Yes, it was a little stupid, but Boyle's response was terrific.
  20. Questions and such: Why does Charlie call Quinn "Robin"? Was that a thing from before and what does it mean? Why has it taken so long for Fitz's enemies to realize that kidnapping Liv is the way to get to him. I've always wondered why she seems so safe walking around Washington, entering her apartment and not locking the door, whatever. Seems odd. Is Rowan a vampire, is that why no one can kill him? Supposedly LisaGay Hamilton was in last night's ep. Did anyone see her? (the lovely lass from the Boston law show awhile back). And what does the damned potention was in West Angola have to do with anything? So much potential in this show - so much disappointment.
  21. If Susan turns out to be the murderer, or just, you know, drowns or something, Tom can have her dog. Yup. Goodbye, Jack. When Nick Nolte's character Tommy died in "Rich Man, Poor Man," I thought I would die, all those years ago. I felt much the same way watching Jack this week after he'd made his decision. Kudos, Nick. They'd better give you an Emmy for this role.
  22. Jade Foxx, I so agree with you about Joe Morton, whom I also first saw in "Brother from Another Planet," and look for everywhere. Damn, though, this role is just sucking, though he's giving it everything. Did you watch "Eureka"? I must have missed something, so can someone tell me why Huck and Javi aren't in each other's lives? I cannot, cannot wait for RentBoi to get his from Cyrus. Sorry to see Cy hurt again, but where is his daughter? Is she even still in his life?
  23. I don't understand the Geena situation. She's at the hospital with the most brilliant brain surgeon in history (LOL). Has Derek said her tumor is inoperable? Not that we've heard. Bad writing if this it where they leave it. And I'm sorry, but April's mother is impossible. I wanted to go through the screen and rip her face off. Not that April is much better.
  24. I must be really out of it and I can't even blame it on the time change. I love thename "Jacob" but can't for the life of me figure out why it's funny as Holt's middle name. Help, someone. The show just keeps getting better and better.
  25. So Kalinda's leaving? I hope she gets a super show. And what do people know about bad blood between her and Alicia. Word and word to those who screamed at the TV during the "rape in prison" exchange. What is the matter with these people? And it's true that many other shows use this as either a joke or to threaten perps with going to prison. Really, no one ever works to reduce the incidence of rape in prison, which is what should happen. And word to those who wonder about Diane. I don't know what holds Baranski to this show (contract?) when she does theater, film, and TV. Maybe, since a series probably pays really well, she and others are trying to prepare for bad times by socking some in the bank, so they can go back to the stage. Same for Alan Cumming. I like the occasional guest spot that works (I'm looking at you, Linda Lavin), but this show has terrific people who aren't getting more than an aside these days. Wonder what the Kings have in mind, and I'm sure whatever it is I won't like it. They really ruined Elspeth didn't they? Last week she couldn't remember anything and this week she's disrobing in her office. Neat, show.
