Caprice, WORD. When a new show starts these days I try to figure out who's going to die so it's not such a shock. So far not particularly good at predicting. But if this show has been lucky enough to sign Tina Majorino and then kills her off, they deserve much suffering.

What the hell with the wife? Yes, Kirk Avecedo is always a welcome pleasure. I first saw him in OZ many years ago, though don't know if that was his first major performance, and always look for him in cast lists. He needs a regular slot somewhere (probably not here as he's likely not going to live very long. Could be wrong.) Tina (forget character name) says she's being careful, but where else would she do her computer hacking if not from the office system? And if she has a setup at home, wouldn't it have to be linked to the office as a job requirement? I fear for her. Are those weapons we saw briefly in Avecedo's warehouse? That can't be good. And how many people did Martin kill in tonight's episode, or were many of those just woundings? He surely is quick on the trigger. Do organizations such as his get carte blanche to waste people hither and yon?

Disturbing Movie Moments: Can't Unsee *That*!
Catherinewriter replied to DollEyes's topic in Everything Else About Movies
To those who cited "Wicker Man," WORD. That last scene has stayed with me for decades. And the scenes leading up to it weren't so great, either, because the menace was so apparent. I didn't know there was a remake, and though I love Nick Cage, I will definitely pass. -
The grave was just ridiculous. Why did it have to be so deep, out in the desert? Not like anyone's going to happen upon it if it's only three feet down. And so long. If you're burying a murdered body, you can double it up, for heaven's sake. However, the time it took to dig the grave gave Sonya time to run away and Marco time to get to hr.

Why did Eleanor take the lock of Sonya's sister's hair from her mother?

Oh, Auntie, you silly person. I don't like Chrystal but I really feel for Larter. Again, a lovely woman, which the showrunners want, but not an actress, which I want. Do other people recast roles as episodes are running? I do and it's really distracting, but there are so many good actresses who aren't necessarily Miss America, that it boils me. Bean deserves another role worthy of him, in the league of Boromir and Ned Stark. Wonder if there will be one.

Simone S, I agree that black performers have a limited number of options, and it angers me. But I also think, more and more, that despite really fine shows such a "The Americans," "Justified," well, you know all the good ones - that despite them, a lot of really shoddy writing goes on for actors of all races. Especially if there's a star sure to bring in the audience, which is the case here. And the writing and plotting isn't even that good for the stars sometimes (as here). I can get really really annoyed, don't you know. Wonder how the new season will stack up, both for new and returning series.

I love Tina. Is she the Grey's intern who was electrocuted in the basement? I find that I often don't like the leading women in a series, but the supporting roles. I think that's because male showrunners choose good looking women who aren't necessarily good actors for the leads. That leaves the secondary roles for the good actors, and Tina is one of those. My opinion, obviously.

"Game of Thrones has the advntage of being the most critically acclaimed (and possibly the best, don't know, don;t watch it) show on HBO right now. Back in the day Deadwood was always played second fiddle to the Sopranos." Kel, but your argument becomes one of ratings, which is certainly another possibility, but I was talking only of money.
-
Truly, would never have known him, unless of course he began to speak as Al. Wonder how old this photo is.
-
Shapeshifter, agreed. Don't know how Frank can live with himself. I wonder if there's going to be some form of karma for his snitching on Sid, even though Frank knew Sid was no f--king spy.

If he was in Afghanistan from the beginning of the Soviet action, it's 35 years, since it's almost 2015. But if Sean Bean is really that old, that's okay, I guess. The woman with the high-top fade hair is really neat. She looks familiar, but I don't know her.
-
Oh, thanks, posters, I had forgotten that she had no money. So, then, Poor Charlotte, along with Marco, Hank, and Sonya. Has the series been renewed for another season?
-
God, I hate Robles, even more than Fausto, who, it pains me to say, is a fascinating character. Die, Robles. Run, Charlotte. I don't like your character, or your arc, but for heaven's sake get of there. She's rich, right, so she can go anywhere she wants to. Unless I'm missing something. Poor Hank, Poor Marco, Poor Sonya. At least Hank got to do something this episode. One of my disappointments in this series is the lack of screen time for Ted Levine.
-
So how old is Martin supposed to be? If he volunteered in in Afghanistan I, then ran guns in the Bosnian conflict, that's thirty five years there, and he'd have to have been 20ish in the beginning, so he's what, 55 now? Could be, I guess.

I couldn't figure out who the woman was in the bar and car with Marco. At first I thought Alma, since she knew him and about his job, but it obviously was not. Anyone know. Is he just cruising these days? I really hope Adrianna's girlfriend isn't dead. That would be so traumatic for Adrianna. And I wonder about the method of Tate's death. Why not just put some poison in his food or IV line?

"Ian Hart's accent last night was TERRIBLE. Took me totally out of his scenes." Doubel Zout, I kept flashing on (though he was clearly not) Arye Gross. Don't know him well enough to have an opinion about his accent.
-
God, I'm trying even to remember that. I think I was watching to see if he was going to pull a gun or knife on someone and missed what he really did. Crikey!
-
"I think Hearst would be pleased/amused to know that his saying "Kill the whore" could make Al kill an innocent woman. That kind of power would be even more important to him than seeing his real assailant punished." Honey West, excellent analysis. Isn't it incredible that seven years after the end of this series we're still mining (sorry) it for meaning, humor, history, etc. I love it, and I am so sad and angry.
-
Kalliste, I thought I had already posted this, but apparently not. Robin's role in "The Sessions" isn't large but neigther is it a cameo. And Dan Dority is also in the film. Dayton Callie was in an episode of "Major Crimes" a couple of seasons ago and he was stunning.

My cinnamon is always authorized, Willowy, and I am tempted to fuck you up flatter than hammered shit for even asking. Is there any way we can get each other's email or FB contacts so we can keep in touch, or is that unauthorized?
-
Just checking in to say "Fuck you, George, you dick!"

Pallas, thanks for the links. I still think it's completely unbelievable that Deadwood's budget compares in any way to that of Game of Thrones, which films on four or five f--kin' countries, etc. And given that this is ten years later, which means prices have skyrocketed since the takedown of the economy. Funny the way we continue to look for reasons why the show should not have been cancelled and should have been continued. Wish fulfillment and cinnamon.
-
My, aren't they purty men with purty duds. Keith Carradine's niece Ever is currently doing an arc on Major Crimes. This probably isn't the place to put this, so sorry.
-
"He also addresses the reason for its cancellation, which he and others from the production place at HBO's door." (Moving those remarks to the Gem thread). Cocksuckers!!! Nothing at the Gem thread yet, but I felt compelled to offer this benign point of view.
