Gus's death would destroy Molly, Greta, Lou, and leave the baby without a father. Would the Show really go there? Then, let me say unequivocally, "Show, do not go there." The end.

Blixie, thanks for the Cat explanation. I can't believe I completely forgot how much I disliked her at the beginning of the series for her treatment of Jon. But then she grew on me, and I loved the relationship, short as it was (to us) between her and Ned, whom I adored. So thanks. I've decided on my default response to anything going bad in my life: "Fucking Drogon!"

I don't get the Cat hate; can someone explain. I know that character like and dislike are very subjective and can affect people differently (well, except for Joffery, Walter Frey, Ramsey Bolton, Littlefinger, etc.) Well, I've painted myself into a corner. To go back to the beginning, can someone explain the Cat hate? Thanks. And to whomever put up the dialogue among the dragons, really funny, I'm still laughing. That was a terrible scene when Dany imprisoned them. Just awful. I think the question of whether Shae was a plant or was only roped in after Joffery was killed, and whether or not she truly loved Tyrion, will drag on for a long time. For awhile I thought she must have loved him, because every time (two or three times) he offered her an out, free, cared for, etc., she refused. But now I realize she would have refused even if she were working for Tywin. I hate that this might be the case. I wonder if we'll ever know for sure, since Tyrion has killed her. I hate the way the show disposes of characters as if they're used kleenex (i.e. Jojen). He was sweet, loyal, committed to Bran's safety and goal, etc. Another disposal that continues to rankle me is Roz. It wasn't in the books ( hell, SHE wasn't in the books) so STF was that small arc all about?

Joliefaire, somewhere upthread you referred to Joffery as the "rag-weed pin dick." I know this isn't an episode preview comment, but I just have to congratulate you on your deft use of the language. I'm snorting and hee-ing and I write.

S01.E09: A Fox, a Rabbit, and a Cabbage
Catherinewriter replied to ElectricBoogaloo's topic in Fargo
Couldn't resist, it never even occurred to me that Linda was a plant. Yet, there are so many current shows that are full of moles. The thing is, I don't see Malvo as needing moles, he's skillful enough to carry off whatever occupation he's mimicking, etc. And speaking of the Salesman of the Year Award, that timeline is unsettling to me. In just a year from the shootout and his brother being imprisoned for his crime, he's sold enough insurance to open his own office, remarry, sell his house and buy another, and win the SofY award? Seems a bit warp speed, no? I'm trying to figure out why I'm more terrified of Malvo, but loathe Lester more. Wonder why. -

"I don't see Lester's transformation as realistic, because I don't see people really changing. Although I've never met any quite as evil as Malvo, he actually seems more plausible as a character." Shapeshifter, I'm not sure we're seeing a transformation so much as a realization. Lester's evil has always been there, he's just needed a spark to light it up. My opinion, obviously. -

The exchange between Lou and Malvo will continue to trouble us, I think. If I weren't so worried about Lou, I'd love to see another go round with the two of them. Lester is a dick. Lester needs to die. -

Henripootel, yes, Lou took steps to mollify Lorne, sensing that the guy was off, but he couldn't have known who Malvo really was or he'd have moved heaven and earth to keep Molly away from him. Warned her, tied her up and kept her safe until the police (oh, Odenkirk, well, some other police) could get there. That scene continues to trouble me, unless Molly is keeping the investigation close to her vest out of principles of confidence, or maybe even protecting her father. Don't know, just don't like it. And am terrified for next week's final. -

Re our questions about why Lou doesn't know more about Malvo, etc. Perhaps Molly thinks she should keep info about her job confidential? I don't know if that's a thing with cops' families - does anyone know? It's not the same as with doctors and shrinks, is it? But otherwise I see no reason that Lou is not allowed (by the plot) to recognize Malvo or twig to him as he talks with him. He's just too smart and experienced not to. Other opinions? Oh, and by the way: Lester needs to die. -

Oh, Boston Gal, make it so. I wonder if there will be enough time to get Chazz out of prison. Though if Lester is killed, where will that leave Chazz. Will people just realize that Lester has been responsible for everything that Malvo hasn't done? Don't have much faith that this will happen. And it isn't that I like Chazz - he's a jerkwad - but he doesn't deserve prison for a murder he didn't commit. -
Favorite Quotes: "I Don't Know What to Say So I'm Just Whispering"
Catherinewriter replied to radishcake's topic in Veep
My favorites: Kent: Nice dress. Sue: It's a skirt and top. Kent: Even better. (And what makes the lines even more hysterical is that they're not funny in themselves. It's the characters and what we know about them and the actors' delivery. God, I'm going to miss this show) And also: Katherine: "Well, I'm not going to a fucking gun show." Selina: "Well, you are, too, going to a fucking gun show if I have to put a fucking gun to your head." -

Several things: Someone upthread mentioned Gus going all Ahab on Malvo, and possibly getting killed. Show, don't go there. It would destroy Molly and Greta. But since I don't trust anything I can't help but think of how this series began - a pregnant woman being widowed by the murder of her cop husband. Gus (ex cop) dying and leaving pregnant Molly would bookend the beginning. So, show, don't go there. I didn't twig to Lester's plan for Linda until they got to the office. Then I remember him grabbing the red coat off the stand in the basement and my hate for him increased thousandsfold. Finally, not a major problem, but something that's bugging me. Given the closeness of Molly and Lou, and the long period this case has been dragging on, doesn't it seem likely that Lou would know more about the man they're hunting - might have even seen Molly's murder board and the photos of Malvo? Obviously he hasn't, or he'd have tried something with Malvo and gotten killed. What do others think? -
Sister Magpie, good point about the paster, converting hundreds to Christianity while being a KGB spy. And I wonder about commenters' suggestions that different people are KGB. I don't know a lot about the history of infiltration, but were there really THAT many KGB plants, of various ages and in various occupations? Just curious. And speaking of occupations, who else is involved in Philip's travel agency. Are they all KGB or just he? And isn't it a little bit off plot that neither Paige nor Henry has ever visited the office. And is Martha allowed to call Philip at the office? Don't mean to be picky, I love the series. Am just seeing things I didn't see earlier. More Clauria Has anyone heard about a new series next fall with Martindale. Something other than the terrible waste of her time (and everyone else's) that she's in now. I hope, I hope, I hope Yes, here it is: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt3714720/?ref_=nm_flmg_act_1 Wasn't Krazinski in The Office. I hope this is good for all of them, and for us, the loyal audience. But I also hope this won't keep her out of The Americans.

Bannon, maybe, but that's a very skilled operative to be able to shoot someone four times while handcuffed. I wondered too, where the shots had come from. What is the "Twilight Zone" reference about? Confused. I'm not sure Jared was a sociopath, but simply a very disturbed lad whose family secrets got to him, plus the attraction of a beautiful woman who focused on him. His final scene explains why he was so affectless the rest of the time - he was trying to prevent Elizabeth and whomever else was interrogating him from seeing what he was hiding. More Claudia. Always more Claudia!

I'm confused about the Stan scenes. He photographed a screen or two and that was supposed to be Echo? And then he dropped it off? So why didn't he wait for Nina? Just chickened out? Stan, you suck. Wow, Jared really came alive just as he was about to die, didn't he? Incredible show.

Quarks, I've been kicking around the possibility of plot alteration so that Oberyn can live, but I don't think they've done anything else so major, have they? It would mean changing so much that follows, right? Pascal is a joy and I'm not sure I even want to watch the match.

I'm up for a rewatch, but if HBO isn't reairing it, how would that work? Forgive my fuckin' electronic illiteracy, but I don't how to watch it online. Sad and wholly enraged response to the final episode. If there had been a Season 4, I fear what would have become of our favorite characters: 1. Doc is dying 2. Trixie is being hustled out of town, lest Hearst see here around and about. Don't know what that means for Sol, as he is necessary for the hardware store. 3. Ellsworth is dead, and that puts me emotionally flatter than hammered shit. 4. Alma and Bullock cannot be together, so not sure what she will do in Deadwood. 5. Would like to see Bullock and Martha grow closer, as someone mentioned above. Still would like to have episodes with good scenes with Charlie, Jane, Joanie, Richardson, Aunt Lou, Tom Nuttall, a strike by the Gem's whores, demanding higher pay and time off during the day to do girl things. Just don' know. Am so very, very sad.

Wouldn't you think Chloe's makeup would have begun to dim or rub off by now? Presumably she's not taking time to refresh it. I hate the look on her. And by god, he did shoot two of the protesters, if blood is any evidence of such an action. Really, Jack, shooting people who are supposed to be on your side (Western, U.S./Brits, etc.) Judas Priest! Milburn Stone, what happened with Judy Davis, do you know? She would have been fantastic. Terrific actor, haven't seen her in awhile.

Thanks to posters who suggest that all the show has to do is drag out the election for more seasons. But also, I think Ianucci is some kind of evil genius, so he can probably think of others ways to keep it going. Agree that Sue and Kent are the subsurface gold of this show. "Nice dress." "It's actually a skirt and top." "Even better/" Or some such exchange.

Eli rocks. I laugh to myself when I think that this uptight character walks out the door and puts on the costume for the MC in "Cabaret." Now that's talent.

Disappointing news. HBO won't be starting over with Deadwood, but with Big Love. Oh, well, it was good to see it again, even with the fuckin' ending.

S10.E24: Fear (of the Unknown)
Catherinewriter replied to ElectricBoogaloo's topic in Grey's Anatomy
I also miss Lexie, a lot, and no new Grey half sister will make up for that. Do commenters know that Eric Dane will be starring in a new show later this summer? Maybe that show will feature Chyler Leigh. One can hope. Bye, Christina. There will be such a large hole in this show. -

Okay, thanks, TV addict. I must have been out of the room at the beginning of that scene. I just remember the others, some so amusing.
