  1. My wife's and I's wedding lead to two of our friends getting together, also getting married with 3 kids and another friend of ours getting baby #2 as a result. Never happened to me at all the weddings I attended from 21 to 27.
  2. I know, that's a four letter word on TV shows.
  3. Similar thing happened to my in-laws, they had years of build up from my wife's epilepsy. To the point to separated them while she was in the middle of high school. However, a relative passed away and both my wife and her sister graduated high school and college and my brother-in-law had just got engaged. My in-laws decided they had been through too much to get divorced now and wanted to see the next chapter of their children's lives together. They are about to celebrate 53 years in July. That made even less sense than Dre magically getting the money for his glass house with infinity fire place. Just as Pops spilling and ruining the couch. Dre knew his father would spill something and he of course denies it and then does it 2 minutes later. I love Pops and Lawerance Fishburne, but there is a difference between being stubborn and stupid stubborn. Plus, I'm surprise that Bow didn't tell Ruby: "Go back and live in your unknown duplex your two kids have been fighting over."
  4. Yeah, it just gets worst from there. Wait until you find out what happens in the season finale. You will flip.
  5. Yet, the only one who realizes that their talk about being "under water" is crap is Lisa. While everyone else is: "Wow, they still have money after all of this." It just paints everyone as: "Duh, let's walk now, right, left, right... wait... what foot goes next?"
  6. Now, that the season is over and after the finale, I know why I dislike Lena as much as Martin. She kept expecting Martin to change, when she knew he never was going to and instead of bringing it up. She just let it go on and on until she couldn't take it anymore. I think back to the pilot when she went over what she was doing and after mentioning that she was then going to make dinner. Martin replies: "What is for dinner?" She looks at him with the dirtiest of looks then we find out in the following two episodes. He doesn't know how to clean, do laundry and has made sandwiches most of his life. You are really expecting the audience to believe in that 18 years. Lena, with her micro managing (and often times dumb managing) didn't go: "Martin, I know you feel you want the woman to do all the work, but I can teach you and it will take like barely a day." Instead it was constantly: "Martin doesn't want to see me naked or do anything, because he has to be the fun dad." Then you add in the fact that their two oldest kids are teens and you have them acting like 17 year olds in high school and it takes the "precious" daughter to go to a professional and say: "My parents are traumatizing us with their dumb ideas." Then to have Lena go have sex in a car because a guy wanted to sleep with her. Then find out in the finale that Lena and Martin didn't officially move out of the house was not because it was under water. Or the fact Lena just has a small micro business that just covers the bills and nothing else. They did it because they didn't want to leave each other. It just rings as crap.
  7. Oh no, because AS-P found Rick Sutfliff so hot, she wanted things both ways with him. She was about to make him a regular in season 4, but couldn't since ABC had him on I'm with Her for an entire year. Soon as the show ended, it was: "We GOT CHRIS BACK!" "Let me shove him down everyone's throats, because he is so awesome!"
  8. That's why critics have really said the set up and Martin's character doesn't make any sense. Especially, after the finale aired, one critic even said: "So, the entire premise of the series is BS because you have two people who can't talk to each other. Put their kids, friends and family through a lies on their finances just for a joke." "Yet, neither of them can see the damage they are doing and Lisa Apple after calling Martin and Lena on their crap finds out her period is late." "So, let's put in a cliffhanger that is surely to make people want to stop watching." The show doesn't know what it wants to be. Having a couple that grew apart, but still trying to make things normal for their kids. Having a husband who can only get dressed, but makes some big money in a job that is never talked about, but not only doesn't want to have sex with his wife, but avoids seeing her naked ALL the time for 2 years. Then everything is pointed out to be an excuse, because they actually fine financially and could just sleep in separate bedrooms, but oh no, the writers need a punch line for their jokes with the garage and telling people they are living paycheck to paycheck, but then shipping their kids off to summer camp and throwing block parties. Yet the person who calls them on all the obvious crap is the person who Martin doesn't want to sleep with the second time because: "he's tired." Seriously, give it up.
  9. We have no idea with what Martin does for a living, just that Lena has her own pottery micro business. The entire "under water" was revealed to be a lie, they made up the excuse because they didn't want to really live apart until they got things in order. In Martin's head that meant sweeping Lena literally back off her feet because they "didn't dance at their own wedding 18 years ago." For Lena, it was an excuse to finally have sex and have a man see her naked in 2 years. Also basically saying that Martin a few years ago felt he didn't need to try things anymore and since Lena was so into having things her way. Martin didn't do anything around the house, which of course pissed Lena off. Martin apparently had great sex control, because apparently not having sex in anyway for 2 years is fine. The contrive plotting the entire show, they could have gone the easy route and have it where Martin was impotent and be too embarrassed about it. The way it was looking, and the way they were writing it. That seem to be the reason and would have been in character for Martin. Instead it was: "I don't see why I have to do it if I don't have to." Hence the entire: "I don't know how to do laundry or cook a meal, because I'm a man."
  10. You got that right. From Glasses fainting at the sight of blood (you are in f'in surgery). To: "I know I have a vagina, but the fact it can stretch like this is weird." How the HELL did any of them get through medical school? Let alone, GET INTO medical school? People can have quirks and habits, but the writers either making them too horny or give them very stupid and I do mean stupid problems that people have in elementary school. I want Richard to take them all into the hall and go: "So, do we have a big problem or little problem today?" "Look at me in the eye kids, or no recess."
  11. Then Rory had to go on afterwards that she felt bad for Chris after Straube died. It was like: "You can't have it both ways." All Rory had to say was: "Then let's not end up that way and stop making things about mom all the time and focus on us." Oh no, Chris still focused on Lorelai, Rory didn't open her mouth and I still hate that scene in the revival when Chris basically admits, he had the perfect excuse not to be a dad to Rory and she finally gets he is a waste of space. Yet, we had to be beaten over the head that Chris cared, when he didn't, so why would Rory.
  12. Yeah, that's how I took it. I have neighbors who had very strict parents and they let their kids basically get away with murder. I always took Bev as having this "Donna Reed" though process in her head that backfired on her. With Dan, he wanted to be home and involved with his kids, since his dad had to always be travelling and selling to keep a roof over everyone's head. Yet, also felt he had to be the bad guy to distract Dan from his mother's mental issues. Which backfired on him too. Bev felt she needed to be the type of mother, she thought she needed to have. Dan felt he had to be the opposite of his dad and had to be "spared" his mother's mental health. Both situations traumatized both of them and as we saw, lead to some very bad choices for Roseanne and Dan over the years.
  13. I remember reading the actors who played them (Boon from Earth Final Conflict) kept looking in the mirror and kept losing it.
  14. Sorry to say, with The Middle ending and Alex Inc doing bad and having less than a handful of new shows next year and with Modern Family coming to an end next year. ABC basically said: "It has modest ratings and we have nothing else, so let's give it another season." Writers: "Awesome, we have a really badly written cliffhanger that everyone will hate."
  15. Which even Mark argued with Roseanne about when they left. He said: "I never convinced to make Becky do anything, it was all her." However, that's where it stopped, it was Becky's idea, but there also comes a time where you tell your spouse: "I don't think this is a good idea and here is why." Mark never did that.
  16. I know because he lost a lot of weight from season 2-3, but that also had to do with Goodman's movies at the time. I remember after he had finished filming the Flintstones in 95. He said he was actually at his lightest in years. But then he put a lot back on towards the end. I remember him showing up on Sunset Strip about 10 years ago, and he had slimmed down again.
  17. The one problem with Mark and I know they were developing the character, but it shouldn't have taken until David came into the picture to explain his home life. All we knew for sure was Mark turned 18 and got out of his parents' house as fast as he could (though leaving three younger siblings behind didn't make sense IMOP). But seriously, he was a jerk and the typical tv "bad boy" that even someone as "smart" as Becky was suppose to be had to fall for. Their break up and even their reunion at least was written and acted well. However, as we got to "Lecy is leaving the show" story lines that lead to the Bike Shop crashing and burning. Even Dan admitted that Mark was a lot like him, but Mark wasn't an athlete or popular, which Dan was at least where sports were concerned and not academically. Having him be so stupid he couldn't stop burning himself with a zip lighter and to the point where he couldn't see putting his foot down to get Becky to finish school and not drop out. That's where it was just a stupid move, in fact both Becky and Mark's IQs went down so much when Sarah was brought in to be Becky. At least with Jackie they wait until after the Fisher story line to turn her into Gilligan.
  18. Yep, and if said actors in those contracts are not used for what they are promised. They have to have a payout. Why many actors when story lines don't work out are just there, when the audience are saying: "Please get rid of them." They really can't, because then they get pay out more. The biggest example in the last few years was firing Conan O'brian from The Tonight Show. They had to pay him out the money. NBC got some of their ratings back by bringing Jay Leno back for the first year, but then it fell apart and they decided to get Jimmy Falon, which turned out better. On ABC, when they introduced Alexis boyfriend on Castle. The story line was cut by 4 episodes because people stopped watching the show because of the story line. I talked with the actress at a convention and she told me, he had to be paid out since he was promised 9 episodes and only appeared in 5. She also thought the story line didn't work either, but the writers through it was good. Yeah, in the end, cost them I think around $15K because of them cutting the actor out.
  19. Just like with: "Hey, I'm Martin, and it's 2018, and I don't know how to do the laundry, only can make mac & cheese, I hang with the buds and never talk to my wife." "The school counselor is also wondering what the hell our problems are, but we can't talk about them." Then add in their neighbors and closest friends don't get why they separated either, it just paints them all as they have no ability to talk to anyone. Lena is just sexually frustrated and Martin just can't buy a clue. The writers thinking this will keep the show going and add in a surprise pregnancy, which critics said was just plain stupid and that if they make it past next season will take a miracle. Even with ABC taking chances on new shows that don't look promising and Modern Family most likely ending next season.
  20. Dan and Chuck have really caused a lot of problems for themselves over the course of both series. Chuck would trigger Dan when the M word came up. Plus, he would give Dan's thoughts on a great "huge payout one and done jobs." In Dan's mind, he was trying to be not only the breadwinner, but do it to where the family didn't have to worry about money. Up until Roseanne quit Wellman, they didn't worry about money at that stage. Dan's problem, just like Roseanne was not knowing when to say No to something or when they got a windfall, not to go out and spend it all. Ziggy had the same effect on Dan, if it wasn't for Ziggy, Dan wouldn't have really gotten back into motorcycles and wouldn't have later done the Bike Shop, which was more of Ziggy's idea than Dan. What was the problem with Ziggy was that he was never married, had kids, but really he paid out his dues to them and basically just worried about himself. He worked a good Union Job and knew how to make deals on selling bikes. Dan was a great hands on worker and contractor, but him running a business or using his "hobbies" to make a business were lost on him. I see the reversal with Dan and Chuck. Chuck constantly worked on jobs, but he had just one kid to support and Anne Marie worked. He just didn't have any retire or anything and Dan had that when he worked for the city. He gave that up for the prison, when after the bike shop. Should have clued him in on having security and the fact he did enjoy his job. What's sad is now Dan has seen that he never learned from those mistakes and it has cost him and he still feels he has to be the "super husband" with everyone. When really, he doesn't have to be if everyone else would just pitch in. Especially when you are 65.
  21. That's what it comes off as, so having this and Lisa Apple buying the pregnancy test at the end just cements that the entire premise was never thought out. So, even though Lena had no sex or had Martin see her naked for 2 years until this episode. Means that she basically wanted an excuse to sleep with someone. Then add in the fact that Martin is that oblivious to things so when Lena finally did it, he decided to sleep with Lisa. So, if they are suppose to be "legally" separating. Then they have committed fraud, they have no money issues and have put their kids through this crap for nothing. They come across as two very manipulative and poorly communicating individuals. Hence, I will not continue watching in season 2.
  22. Great examples. Yeah, Dre comes off as too much of an uptight person, though I know that's due to Pops and Ruby. However, when he gets called into something deals with any discipline with his kids from a school or something. Suddenly it's: "I have to be the fun dad." Which is insulting because we know he has never been that and he complains about everything and some days I wish his shoes would catch on fire. To be fair, I think the only TV dad in the last few years that was written fairly and was a good dad was Bradley Witford on Trophy Wife a few years ago. He was written as competent, new when to be authority, sweet and fun, but still be a parent. These days its: "I have to be an idiot, or I have to be a baby or the 'fun' dad." Over half of these writers are parents, and they constantly say: "I just write them as the opposite of me." Why can't you use your experiences to write them as a parent and still be funny about it?
  23. Same with Gould, he might have finished high school early and so forth, but he needs to leave acting when the show is done. Ariel Winters needs to get on a show that won't shame her all the time.
  24. Yes, Harris's height doesn't bother me. Children are statistically greater of inheriting height from the father's or mother's parents' side. My nieces are all in the 5'8-5'9 range. Due to their father's heights because their mother's are pretty short. I had a friend who both had short parents, but his mother had a father who was 6'5. She was 5'5 and he ended up 6'2.
  25. Kids these days want everything handed to them. They want to be respected, but they won't give respect back. Similar to how Harris is written. Many kids these days want things right now, low attention spans because they can stream and share things instantly. Many of them have bought a clue and realized that middle management is in high demand or opening their own businesses are the way to go. Those are the kids who are going to make it while others will be most likely working until the day they die.
