  1. Yes, DJ should have been there. They could have still done the scene between Chuck and Dan. What really got me was they both made bad decisions and now at their age, to be where they are. Not only did they not expect it, but their decisions that were "in the now" came to haunt them later in life. Way too true to life and worked well.
  2. Yeah, they got the green light for a 2nd season. So, they went with going with a possible pregnancy. When Martin has been failing to perform because he didn't want to until now. Yeah, I'm majorly out. I really wish they didn't get the 2nd season ok since Alex Inc was a failure. Then we wouldn't have gotten that. Yeah, they complain about money and yet they not only send all 3 kids to summer camp, but throw their annual summer fiesta. So, how are they in financial problems? What does Martin do again? Oh... never mind.
  3. Yet, Check knew for the first time in a long time, Dan was in a good place financially. He didn't need to float the idea, should have let Dan be.
  4. I completely got Dan's pain in the basement, even the talk between him and Chuck. Of course I wanted Dan to go: "Who's idea was it to convince me about the prison and leave the garage? Oh that was you Chuck." Still, why the hell was no one helping him? Could have still done the frustrated scene with Dan and had at least everyone helping him. Yeah, needed it to all end on a positive note, but really? Waiting until 7 minutes to 8 pm?
  5. Yes, I kind of got where Roseanne was coming from when she blamed Dan for not getting the job. However, it could have been an eye opener for Roseanne that she needed to try something to educator herself more to get a job like that. Too bad it never went that way. The revival just seems off so much. I mean, They can get a stair climber that Dan can install and get a C-pap machine on their insurance. But get Roseanne needed surgery, is impossible. Bev gets kicked out of her nursing home and apparently lost all her money because she is 90? Jackie continues to be Wacky Jackie, who has been divorced for 20 years and is now a Life Coach? All of the kids have been hit with some really, really horrible things. At least with Becky and DJ you can understand, but Darelene is a head scratcher.
  6. There was that reference and even in the premiere, he talked about seeing "the guys" from the office for a game. The original discussion about the divorce in the pilot and second episode was that their house is underwater. They have their bills covered and have signed an official separation, but nothing has come of it. Basically, I don't think the writers knew what to put Martin as. He could be a teacher (which means his pay would be fixed and his hours pretty steady). Or he is working in the community projects in California. Which means he be making a living wage. That said, going forward they would either have to sell the house or have one of them starting to live next door. Because if they do divorce, the house is a lost if it is underwater, even though they one minute complain about money and the next are getting private lessons and putting money down for friend parties. I see them as a pay check to pay check family with good months and ones where their mortgage is being paid a few days late once or twice a year.
  7. That's exactly it and having evidence that the same thing happened with the previous gala and happens when someone else instead of the "Mean Housewives" throws the galas. Somehow it always goes wrong or is sabotaged the day of or days before. As much as the show wants us to believe that most of the higher ups in Westpoint are rich morons. When a pattern is shown, that can be legally damaging to the town. Then heads will roll, look at Dixon, IL with the former treasurer who stole millions of dollars because no one dared to keep an eye on the checks and balances, while other towns saw something was up and even told them: "Guys, something isn't right with your budgets."
  8. Masterson is signed to return, though he said they are making him grow his beard back and he is not a fan of the beard (because you know Ryan is a new age hippy). I got why they wanted to play up Vanessa, but they went so far. I mean even how she tried to be "racially aware" came off like some woman out of 1977, who didn't know how to talk to "black people". Plus, the entire part of why she quit her job (including erasing the effect it was Ryan's idea) and then she was laid off from her job at the school, but could keep on working because Chuck's wife: "couldn't bare to tell her." Yet she was walking in, teaching a class and getting paid? Umm... what? Then how she kept always taking Ryan's side and first it was: "He's out grandson's father." Then later it was: "He's a teacher too." I was like: "How did you ever get into graduate school? You are an airhead."Also, I hated how Mike kept treating Vanessa by season 3. She would have an idea and Mike had to constantly try to undermine her or try to turn her thing into his. When Vanessa finally called him out on it after the She-Shed episode. Mike's answer was basically: "I'm a guy and I make more money." I would have divorced his ass after that.
  9. It was a hilarious episode and even the Murder Ponies trying to convince them to die was hilarious. Especially when all of them including Flintheart were yelling at them "NO!" I lost it at the commentary when Flinty called tails on a two sided heads coin that he switched out himself. I just love the: "What a sad move." joke.
  10. Exactly! Like over on Station 19, Victoria has a fear of fire that until the season finale, she got over. Yet, why she became afraid came out of nowhere. Plus, she had been a fire fighter for awhile by then and all of a sudden, she stops an stares at it like it's going to talk to her. Glasses reminds me of Fred Grimes character, Morris on ER. He was introduced as a complete idiot and pot smoker. After they killed off Ramono (who caught him getting high on the job). There was critic and fan outrage asking to either utilize Grimes's acting or get rid of the character. Grimes even said he hated his character early on saying; "No one person could fail his way up in the medical field like that, no matter who their parents are and pulled strings." The message go through and they started making his character competent. But it wasn't over night and they took a lot of short cuts. Here with Glasses, what the hell possessed him to go into medicine? Why surgery where cutting people open and seeing blood on a regular basis is a thing. The wedding proved that if I had a serious allergic or medical condition that would require me to be cut open to save my life, I be dead because this guy immediately passes out. Forget Meredith, if Teddy is now the new chief, I either be requiring him to seek therapy or fire his ass because he could get someone killed.
  11. Yes, Family Matters became: "Urkle and side characters matter." Truth be told, 3J was actually an interesting story, but then went too far or didn't get explored enough. Plus, with Rachel it was more over her own health issues, but having her basically disappear and then she showed up and Richie was: "Mom!?" Was never explained at ALL. Plus, I did read that one of the reasons they had problems with writing Eddie, Waldo and Laura in college is because over half the writers never went to college. So, they didn't know how to write the kids in college. They had easier times with high school because a few grew up in inner city Chicago during the early to mid 80s. By the early 90s when the show began, there wasn't too much to change outside of fashion. Now, if they tried doing it in 2018, it's an entire different story. Where the Winslows live would be an entire different situation. Unlike say in Mike & Molly where it was pretty realistic with where everyone lived. Family Matters was a grand example of a show that went on too long and the writers just started not knowing what to do with their characters, so they started writing them off or just had them disappear. Like with Judy, Waldo, Eddie's one guy friend (what happened to him?). Then they started getting rid of Estelle, the Original Harriet and of course like the butt of so many shows like Cheers, Fraiser and Friends. You had Steve's parents who were so overly described, they couldn't cast their characters. Many talked about Dr. Urkle being Gary Coleman at one point, until they realized they couldn't pull off the age difference with Jaeel White and Gary. We heard Steve's mother off screen twice and it was Reginald Johnson doing the voice off screen. I mean I got they made Steve worst and worst as time went on, but it got to the point, I felt like Steve was an orphan and why he came over all the time because his parents didn't give a shit. What a horrible message to send for one being a doctor and the other owning her own business.
  12. Exactly! That right there are some great stories for JJ, even though they made it pretty ridiculous to keep JJ in high school. I got where they were going with him realizing that he wasn't ready to start being on his own. However, seriously, they should have it where we see Kenny working with JJ on his homework, double checking things are going in and that Maya and Jimmy are getting regular updates. I mean come on, they had an online platform for grades for all the kids and it was mentioned a few times and its: "Oh, we didn't check that, even though I'm constantly on people that my JJ or my other kids are being treated fairly or doing their work."
  13. I know what you mean, it was like all of a sudden the writers were: "You know what, this can't work as as how, let's just throw it all up outside the original premise and make it work. It is better, but even with a renewal for next year I still see it as: "We had nothing else to put on next year and Alex Inc was a total bomb, and I think they have pictures on us executives."
  14. That's exactly it and at this point, why should Mike be angry at things now? He got what he wanted? A Republican president who hates everything from the previous administration. Even though Tim Allen has now said he regrets some things he thought about Trump. Hence a clue for the writers, to drop Mike vs Ryan when it comes to politics and Vanessa always siding with Ryan, no matter how half-ass his ideas were.
  15. That's what I liked about the writing of Waldo, especially there at fast food joint. Waldo was shown in the Home Ec class his passion and skill for cooking and he was shocked, as he never saw himself other than dumb. Even he was aware he didn't do smart things, but it was how he was. However, after making him the cook and even going to college for culinary and his relationship with Maxine. It was just such a wonderful change of pace and the writing was on key. Never did we get "plot drives characters" with Waldo's journey, I was just upset when they just dropped him. Similar to Judy, the youngest daughter. Just decided to trim the cast and away they went.
  16. That is the main plan, but you also have to worry since The Middle is done, Alex Inc failed and Splitting Up together doing just good enough to be on next season. ABC is falling back on Roseanne, Black-ish and American Housewife as their main comedies. So, unless Modern Family producers/writers stick to their guns and say: "No, we are done after 10 years." I could see ABC trying to hold onto it. I mean the reason why the Bachelor/Bachelorette are still on is not only because it's cheaper, they have nothing to replace it with. If everyone on those shows including Chris said: "We're done." Then no matter how much money ABC throws at them, they would have to find something to work or use a show with less than stellar but OK ratings to fill their time slots.
  17. Drama, Drama, Drama. Also, the building evacuation made no sense at all. Those people would have been sent out right away once the rest of the stations started showing up. I know they had masks and stuff, but really, once they had an all clear, you get people out. Waiting for four flours to blow with glass to all of a sudden be: "This building is screwed, get out!" I felt so bad for Ben, sitting there having to choose between Montgomery and Molly and poor Molly. The section Chief has gone from being a favorite to being a dumb ass, his entire: "Protocal" I wanted to go: "No, that doesn't work here." Plus, he would have been getting people out right away too. Plus, the entire: "I have to close the fire doors." No, you start closing those right away as you explore and and put out fires. You can push them open, plus, fire doors in a modern building like that. They wouldn't have door stops, they would have magnetic locks to close. Even poor private schools have their fire doors set up like that. All the chemicals together on one floor like that, they would have been shut down years ago. You also can't house that many items on a high floor like that. More in the basement or storage floor area. Ok, but the entire building layout was screwed up, who built the thing? Several cliffhangers: "Who will live and who will die. Find out in the fall." Wow, just so many holes and now the Captain is realizing he screwed up and might bring down the entire Station if an outsider becomes captain. Plus with Bishop, sorry her ears would have been checked out and you can tell if ear drums have been damaged from a large explosion. Plus the way it is going in and out like that. No, sorry doesn't work that way unless your ear drums are deteriorating slowly. Plus, someone would have noticed: "You can't hear me can you?"
  18. Perfectly said, it doesn't come off as funny and basically the message is: "Just be a bitch because you have money to burn, but your husbands don't want to sleep with you, but have no problem with spending your money. Plus, apparently everyone in the town is like: "Wow, what great people because they treat everyone like they are scum when all of them came from poor homes themselves." It's why I got tired of Oliver's crap all season, it took Spencer dying before he realized that dying rich, doesn't really lead to anything in life. I'm also disappointed that Spencer seriously didn't leave anything to Oliver or the Otto Family in general. Now, granted he bought all of Greg's book copies that finally got him tenure. But considering they stuck Greg in a former utility closet and super stalker assistant. Seems like it was: "Well, we tried, but we wanted to show that Oliver being Spencer friend was worth nothing."
  19. The main problem is and it's not like Kenya wasn't coming in from real experience from his own marriage issues in season 1 and then having a baby a year later after already having three almost out of the house. However, did he just stop for one second and go: "Wait, this might not make sense and really, I see how other shows handle a new kid out of the blue or a marriage we have shown to be pretty solid." "Nah, I went through it, it's story gold... oh hi Netflix!" "Good luck ABC!" So, yeah, show runner ego combine with plot driving characters and not the other way around. Especially, with the entire money issues the last 2 years and then having Bow quit to prove Dre was a "man". Oh bullshit!
  20. I just didn't need to be beaten over the head that Jay hired some very stupid people for him company and shocked they haven't killed themselves by now. Just like Jay can use Google Home and an Apple Watch, but automatic hand dryers, sinks or toilets he is clueless. Plus, Jay never broke remotes, that was Gloria. Always has been, she has been shown as bad with tech if it isn't her phone or Skype. Like with Phil bringing up spoilers from a forum, I mean really? That's not clueless that's brain dead.
  21. That's like saying the show has a specific year set in the 80s and their "we need a 90s spin off no matter what" would be logical. They will stay in the 80s until the show is cancelled.
  22. I also agree, and Miss Patty's comment I wanted Luke to reply: "He's a teenager and so was your dance class." But I agree Jess was all: "I hate this small Fing town and I'm going to show that I hate it even if everything I do is like a 12 year old."
  23. I'm so sorry to hear about your struggle. My stepfather has been through similar problems, and they are similar in what they prescribe him. Trust me, he has been in chronic pain for most of my adult life. In fact my brother and I rare talk about the days he was running, playing with us and working on his cars. Now, he can barely stand so long and his doctors are limited by what they can prescribe due to opium issues the last few years. To go back on topic, I agree on Roseanne getting that much pain killers and so forth, not to mention apparently the knee has been a problem for a while now. It just didn't happen over night, they had time to get things together for them.
  24. I agree and Manny's subplot just made no sense. Mr.: "I want to be my own man." since he left for college and when he gets paid and apparently a good amount of money to go across the country and he is: "I'm too scared. Someone go with me." Fell flat and I agree with Jane Krakowski's character, seriously, I felt bad for Gloria not to mention her "rival" is that dead set on screwing her over and making Joe think his mother is a complete loser. I mean, that's worst than the Westport women on American Housewife.
