Right and it's a writers' trap that many TV shows, Movies and Comic Books fall into. It's kind of: "See, the characters do know they do it and call it out, but they still do it. Isn't that funny?" Especially when you wonder where that thought process even comes from. Sure, you get some shows and movies and even comics where you go: "oh yeah, that's how they were raised or they just went the opposite with how they were raised." That is true to life, but you get it where it's so self destructing that when called out and to the point it gets them in so much trouble. Instead of: "Well, I should change or can someone help me here." They instead either go back to it or do it even worst. Reminds me of the woman with the shell fish allergy in the first Eddie Murphy Dr. Dolittle movie. She ends up three times in the clinic and he even tells her: "Do you want to die?" It's suppose to serve the plot of why his character has grown so burned out by helping people who don't want to help themselves. Yet, they then write it like the woman has some addiction to the point she hides in a bathroom and then gets spooked by the guinea pig in the movie and then magically sees it as a reason to stop by the end of the movie. Yet, it's just that, a punch line like to excuse the characters' behavior and yet even though it's old, people point it out it's still a: "Screw you, I get paid to write this crap so I'm just going to keep doing it until they fire me."

S04.E16: The Battle for Second Breakfast
readster replied to Harvey's topic in American Housewife [V]
That cracked me up, but this episode proved 3 things. One: If Katie would just try to "enjoy" other things, she would be a lot happier and would probably have more friends. Two: The principle is so stupid at their school how he passed any graduate courses to be a principle was possible if he just passed the classes and tests and the School Board went: "We need a shill for us! You get the job!" He is not written to have EVER shown he even taught a classroom if he was that bad. He comes across as a teacher from Cam Janson. Three: Greg has no life. If he can't help his kids or fight against something he believes in, he just does what he can because they write him like he has ALL this free time. Also with Oliver, STFU on your house. Your house looks great from both the inside to the outside. I wish the writers would just get him over that outlook of his life. They have made such strives with his character this season. Then the go back 5 steps, same with Taylor. Plus, I like how they don't want to be shown on Google Maps how they look in the morning, but hey if the neighbors see us, who cares. Umm... what? -
Yes, Cam and Mitch have been shown why they SHOULDN'T be parents. The constant bad jokes on how Lily is forgotten even when she is right there isn't funny. Her talking about the car seat was even worst. I agree Lily will be handling this kid after they turn 4, because that is when Lily was basically forgotten about. As for Hailey, Alex and Luke. OMG! Seriously, this was just horrible. I mean, Alex could have called the police on this guy. He was basically almost crossing the line to human trafficing. Plus, Luke, really? I mean come on! Then with Hailey, I like they talk how she is nursing the twins still, but then getting trashed and Dylan just going on like he won a free nursing license. For the episode before this is all over, all they did was show that Hailey, Luke and Alex will never function as adults in any fashion. They need their parents to get them out of everything, no matter if they do have good jobs and fell up in life. They have tried to show that Manny is now an "adult" when he will be lucky if no one robs him, beats him up and leaves him in an alley. I did like how Mitch called Gloria out on all the crap she has done in life and yet is only 43. Other wise, let the show just end next week, this last season has been just an example of how horrible ALL the characters became and that the writers are so out of ideas.

Right, especially after she got thrown out of her retirement community. Magically, where did this money come from? Plus, as the Zombie Bev said: "So, I see you are taking my money and spending it on another get poor idea."

Seem like once Mark pretty much realized he was gay and that his family pretty much excepts it. They kind of just focused on Harris lately. Not that she doesn't need "work" however they seem to have just thrown out Harris "friend" who was living on her own with her parents gone and so forth.

All Episodes Talk: Lorelai and Rory and the People They Love
readster replied to solotrek's topic in Gilmore Girls
However, that's how Dean was written and as much as AS-P loved having Jared around, she couldn't help, but write Dean as: "Act first, think second." Even when he and Jess got into the fight at the end of season 3. He didn't get a straight answer from Rory on what happened, and at that moment, Rory was confused what was going on. If they didn't write Dean or Rory as "not able to talk" they wrote Jess even worst, no matter if AS-Pl loved Milo just as much as as Jared and Sutliffe, she wrote like crap with them. -
I find it really comical that the actress who was interviewed said after reading the episode: "Yeah, that explains my characters pretty well." Which I wanted to translate to: "I need to agree, or I'll be out of a job too." Interview is here.

One is the Loneliest Number: Unpopular GG Opinions
readster replied to mstaken's topic in Gilmore Girls
Not that people didn't look for that and it wasn't seen, but trust me just like with Emily constant firing maids, eventually the house keeping services would be: "Sorry Ms. Gilmore, but we have never experienced as many firings since working with you. Good luck with issues at home." -
I agree, even after she died and we met her mother, it then opened up this: "Where is her father?" "How did she even get into med school?" Then add in everything with the character where one minute she knew things and then be so brain dead, she didn't ask for help UNTIL it was too late. I still find the patient that killed her played by David Krumholtz, just didn't come off right either. Not only him walking into the staff lounge and everyone was: "Get out!" I would love to know where he hid that Butcher's knife or the way he just hid away and then stabs both Lucy and Carter and then just runs out and then of course, hit by a car and he is still going off. Then two years later: "I'm so sorry for what I did, I don't have a job, and I'm hurting myself, but my classmates got me off and my wife and daughter love me. Now if you excuse me, I'm heading over to CBS and my wife is going to be on Gilmore Girls for the next six years."

Right and let's face it, unless it's a plot point, Devante is ignored by everyone, including the writers. Yes, you can except that Ruby has a problem with vaccines and so forth, but to put Junior in the story. The writers can't make up their mind. Make Junior someone who just isn't experience and makes decisions based on fear or emotion. He is level headed, or where all of a sudden, someone could say the sky is falling and he be ducking for cover. There is no consitancy with almost ANY of the characters outside of: Dre is a man-child, Ruby has to be pissed off at something of Bow's. Junior apparently has brain damage, Diane is "mean/evil" and Baby D is either part of the family or act like he NEVER exists.

Not if you work in accounting, pharmaceuticals or catering. It's right up there.

Something my stepfather who was a long career chef just rolled his eyes on things when he did sit and watch the show with my mother and I. He just went: "These show runners don't know a thing about cooking." I found out when he was watching the revival with my mother while she was going through cancer treatments the entire piece with the one woman who was stealing people's food at the restaurants. He said along the lines of: "That guy would be out of a job so fast, I don't care who that woman is, you are killing profits because those people are waiting for their food." -
Behind The Scenes: The Drama Behind the Drama
readster replied to windsprints's topic in Grey's Anatomy
Yeah, at this point I see them trying to do this before they finally pull the plug. -
I think we all hate the fact she is still playing the victim in everything. I mean, they still skate over the biggest plot hole: "Why were they even married if she is constantly cheating on him with whoever and Rigo reaction is just to beat everyone up." I'm sorry, if anything, Rigo would have been put on leave with or without pay. Even getting from Pruitt: "His anger started when his father died, who was under me." Yet it's just like with Dixon, he is forcing a life on his son, but then goes: "But he can't be put in danger." Then add in he is lying to pretty much everyone about his "secret life". It's not only poorly written, but they keep trying to make the characters give out excuses why to "accept" just how things are.

Completely agree, Oliver's growth this season has been extremely welcome. I just wish the writers would ditch their hard on for when he says: "I'm still waiting for my real rich family to come get me." My God! Let that part of the character just die. No one likes it, and no one cares, just like the Youtuber. Just wrap up the damn story, Greg being constantly turned into a fool just to keep his "bosses" happy is old. GIVE HIM REAL FRIENDS!

Should make a meme of Homer from the Bowling Team episode from 20 years ago: Homer: "Yeah Mo, Teddy sure does cheat." "Yeah, she was a cheater." "I mean I'm not just talking cheat, I'm talking about the biggest cheater that ever did cheat!" Marge: "Homer!" Homer: "Opps have to go, Krista is complaining about the truth again."

S02.E19: 'Til Death Do Us Part
readster replied to formerlyfreedom's topic in A Million Little Things
No, apparently it was Chip and Dale going: "See that cabin, never go there. It's evil I tell you, evil." -
Yeah, Dean's parents are just horrible and now seeing how they are trying to compare him with Vic's parents who: "Don't know how to have fun and wouldn't deal with the ailing grandmother." I'm waiting for Dean to go: "My life is pathetic." Vic: "No my life." Dean: "No my life." As for Eva, wish the rocket would have landed on her house and exploded. I'm sorry, but you can't make us care even if she is doing a 360. I think she enjoyed watching Rigo beat up the people she slept with. He is lucky someone didn't eventually just shoot him or something.

S02.E19: 'Til Death Do Us Part
readster replied to formerlyfreedom's topic in A Million Little Things
I love that fact that after almost 20 years, all of Eddie's clothes were in such "perfect" condition with the bracelet in his pocket. If Eddie blocked out everything or because he was too drunk or high to know what happened. How the hell did he just row himself back to shore, put the bracelet in his pocket and then pass out near the cabin instead of the dock? Also, how were his clothes after soaking wet just left under the house out in the middle of the woods and they have no: mold, holes, wrinkled or why the bracelet look like it was just picked up from the store? Then add in how the dad "is doing so bad" sounding like he is on his death bed and the sister was all: "Don't bring this up to him." Sounding like the mother is long dead and from what it makes it sound like, Alex fell in, couldn't swim do to being too high/drunk and Eddie couldn't help because of being the same. Yet, acts like she knows something no one else does. It's thrown together and just DOESN'T MAKE SENSE! -
Yeah, I didn't feel it was heavy handed or anything, even how the boys reacted to their mother's death and her giving him permission to move on with his life. All felt natural while with Teddy's "secret origin" was not only heavy handed, but had no key with ANYTHING her character has done outside of cheating as soon as she hears the slightest bad news. Because you know even Claire saying: "She didn't call me, she didn't call her parents, she called YOU." I was like: "I'm going to go throw up now."
-
Right, it doesn't make you feel "bad for" Emmett. It just makes him pathetic, he isn't ready to publicly "out himself" yet he is sleeping with both a man and a woman at the same time. I'm just waiting to see her get pregnant and "has to marry her" because their parents will throw a fit if they don't. Same with Diane telling Jack that everything in on Rigo. He didn't want to listen. He didn't want to actually deal with his problems or anger issues that have stemmed from his father's death from before Eva and him were married. Then we are to "feel sorry" for Eva. Hell people on Twitter were going: "Would you either dump the character actually give an answer why they were still married when it was pretty much known she was always cheating with someone and Rigo was beating people up." Shut up about the damn CODE! Doesn't excuse other people drawing you into their web of lies and crap. Diane was right, WHY did Jack keep doing it? Who is he really punishing? Maybe Jack and Maya can jump off into those clouds together. They are just sad people asking for death wishes. Hell, they didn't even address Jack surviving the high rise fire from two years ago when he started becoming Mr. Sad Sack.

You have to enjoy the pity party for Dean. "My mom doesn't approve my living style." "I have a child out of wedlock." "My father is so pussy whipped he can't use the bathroom without permission." "My sister is so perfect." Then add in Vic's: "My parents cared more about their business than my ailing grandma." "My father's idea of fun is having a bowel movement." Then the shrink asking if they were a couple. Yeah, they aren't setting this up from a mile away. Still pissed off that they are treating both Eva as the "poor widdle wife" who was probably sleeping with someone when the guys went and visitor her. Same with the Chief's son is everyone says he is a coward, but hey let's just sleep and give him the shirt on his back.

Like how Katie said: "It'll cost us a quarter." What library is this? Our local library, as soon as your book is gone 3 weeks they slap $5 on you. Where is this strange fantasy world the writers live in where educators are not being kicked out of their jobs for caving into bribes of parents on a constant basis. Youtubers are border line abusive, library fees are only a quarter and some how someone who really has probably at least 4 hours by themselves can't read a 300 page book? Also, enough of the Oliver is gay jokes, MOVE ON!
-
No kidding, if anything I wanted to go: "Then maybe it's a good thing she died. You are happy now." Then tie this all in with 9/11, so that was the reason why Teddy enlisted, to pay someone back for the death of her gay lover? Seriously, whatever, run Owen, run Korvack, Teddy is seriously screwed up.
-
What the hell was that? So, Teddy who apparently was bi/gay whatever you want to call it, has been punishing herself all these years because she cheated on her friend with her girlfriend? Then named her daughter after her? Where, when, how has Teddy ever been shown to have any attraction to women... ever! I seriously wanted to be in the writing room when they came up with this idea and just yell at them: "How the fuck do you think that explains anything, like ever! Have you ever even watched this show?" Felt back for McWidower, that man was through a hell of a lot. Wow, outside him Maggie also got a decent story with no: "he's secret married or gay or something." As for Richard, just stop beating him up. Perfect way to bring this show to an end (though I know it's going on still). I mean now Meredith has to save Richard? That would be full circle for the show.
