Everything just didn't make sense. This entire "we need this last season to wrap things up" has been more of: "Let's throw out anything we can because who cares, we are being paid for it." Outside of Phil's father dying and Alex finally getting a job she earned. Everyone else should be just ran over with a bulldozer.

The biggest problem was when they would hammer something into the ground or the fact they would get newer writers who wanted "old traits" back. You have it where Axl all of a sudden regressed to his 1st season self out of nowhere in the final 2 seasons. You had people forgetting Sue so much you thought they had dementia. As for Brick, holy hell, every time they had a teacher go: "You have something against me" from his behaviors. They were all shocked to see he just was odd or had issues no one really took care of. Yet, we were expecting that the school counselors/physiologist just didn't report anything. One episode that was just so odd when they were trying to make a joke about how high school kids don't care until they can. When Sue was in detention for that stupid eating off campus situation. Where the PE teacher goes in that she needs to stop trying to get other kids to start being responsible and tells her that that's never going to happen. When it should have been: "I like you Sue, but until these kids have their 'crisis moment' you aren't going to change their minds. I've tried and now I have to just hope one day they will get it." Instead it came across of: "Don't ask and don't try."

Yeah, Frankie never changes and Mike is still Mike by the end of the series. Even though he gets a promotion. Brick makes small progress, but also loses common sense as the series goes.

The problem is, they HAVE characters to do these stories and they ignore them. They REPEAT the same stories that both fans and critics have said: "Stop doing this stories!" Yet, they keep doing it. They either get actors to leave the show or they want to kick them to the curb and focus on characters ONLY the writers and producers like. I will tip my hat to Sarah Drew who didn't want people to hate the actress who plays Maggie on the show. Saying: "It isn't her fault they want me gone." HOWEVER, NO ONE LIKES THE CHARACTER. Only TPTB like. Justin chose to leave the show, and of course now they are basically throwing his character under the bus. We've had ENOUGH of Jo trying to FIX her life. So, now making her a what? Divorce, left wife with NO family is going to create great stories? Don't think so.
-
Exactly, I mean he was shocked she was not only married, but considering to who. She is bad news all around. If Jack was to not only tank his life, but also career. Then he deserves it.
-
So, Alex leaving is just to NOT tell anyone anything and just leave. So, Jo's story line, but even worst than her's. Plus, Bailey open you DAMN mouth. Not like you haven't been through this kind of crap for 15 years. Pac North buy out doesn't work in any logistic sense. Plus, once again, Maggie is a moron. Yeah, child prodigy and surgeon. I bet she couldn't even ride a bike, then again she probably tried to and complained about being outside all the time.

Negative reenforcement never works in a job like that. So, what the hell was Maya even thinking. Plus, classic Pruitt, thinks what he is doing will "help" Andy, but he is making things worst. She would have excelled as Captain and would have helped her in her grieving. Something that still just drives me crazy about Pruitt going on about giving his life to the job. He NEVER wanted to go beyond Captain because of "reasons" yet apparently was up for Battalion Captain and at one point, even chief. Yet he was: "OH no, I can't do that." Acting like he be behind a desk all the time and didn't want to act deal with the politics. Yet, he is doing all that now. You can't write it both ways. I was completely on Andy's side and I actually like this story for Dean. However, can we get any more of Vic's "My father doesn't even know my birthday and still thinks I'm 12." Oh just stop, we get it. Her parents were busy trying to keep their restaurant a float and Vic was either work with them when not in school or barely saw them. They write it like Vic was left on the street to fend for herself. I did enjoy Jack's back story, but seriously, what the hell is with the affair story. I mean, what? Sex yeah because all women who have asshole husbands want constant sex and forget that. If she is sleeping with him that much, then I'm sorry, divorce your damn husband and move on with your life. You don't have kids, you don't have it being a "public problem". Yes, Jack and him work together, other wise, she just needed an excuse. HATE people like that.

I don't get where they thought this would be funny or "reflection of today's generation". They are completely ignoring who's child she is. I'm sorry, I don't see how Mabel would be her way if Jamie and Paul are her parents. Hell, her grandparents were nothing like that either.
-
Noticed that they are actually trying to apologize for creating the character when they never had any plans or the fact they are still on the air. Something about throwing a new kid into a show, just because the creator of the show had the same thing happened to them. Unless, they are perfectly recording that life, babies don't do what directors and actors want to. Plus, you add in the fact, I think critics and viewers finally said: "Why the hell did you even do it if you don't WANT to do anything with the character.
-
Even when Frank was making his confession to Pratt about his unit in Nam. You just wanted him to go: "So, he plans on just being a asshole who is fine at home, but puts up this gruff and other stuff, just because he should? Never made any sense.

Shows like this, you watch the first time, but then in retrospect, you kind of wonder how the show lasted 8 years. Plus, the characters get really really bad or do such stupid things. Other people comment on it, yet WON'T do a damn thing. Hell, in the final season, Mike's bosses basically tell him they have been screwing the company and everyone working under them since day 1. Frankie is one flake thing to another to the point both Sue and Brick mock her about it. Hell, Brick gets so bad, that the teachers all act like Brick is out to get THEM instead of them talking and going: "Well, that's Brick, no IEP and he just does odd things I don't think he even understands." It got so SOOOOO tiresome.

Exactly, That hospital had the dumbest doctors and working staff imaginable and he and Alex turned it around, got rid of the morons and hired better doctors. Even got funding. That is something to cheer.
-
Exactly, especially when you have over $10K in general. You don't get designer dresses, keep them in a downtown and cross your fingers people don't steal them or you catch fire.

Yeah, and hormonal pregnant woman. Such an original plot too? *eye roll*

That's the problem, they are trying to turn her into Eve. Eve more, they want her to be "Vanessa's Eve". The problem was, up until they had Eve leave for the airforce. Eve had gotten very vindictive towards Vanessa. Now, they think having Jen do the same and do it towards Mike, works? I'm sorry, but from what we have seen of Mike Baxter since season 2. He would have sent her packing for the attitude she is giving him. Plus, the things she says and does. So, the writers are like: "You hate her, but we don't and now we have the perfect way to keep her around." Ratings are dropping due to the time slot and the fact, NO ONE LIKES the character but the producers/writers of the show.

I remember over 10 years ago they had medical shows where they had patients that had no insurance, but were owning $3K in clothes and living in $3K apartments, but medical insurance? No, what was that.
-
Yeah, that's the problem, every time Pruit talks about how this is going to "Help" Andy it ALWAYS backfires. I also like how in the flashback when Ryan and her were 20, he took the door off her door. Because you know, he's traditional and people in their 20s don't have sex *eye roll*. Oh look: "I can't be behind a desk!" Plus, the new Chief is talking about his job isn't as great as everyone thinks. So, how did Ripley last so many years? He made constant bad decisions in the field and never ONCE said how bad it was. Only: "Hey I know better." When clearly he didn't. Least with the new one, he is willing to listen to new ideas.
-
Yeah, even everything with Schmidt at the beginning was: "So that's it!" If not for Uncle Saul paying for school, he never would have been a doctor? I hate you Uncle Saul, Levi shouldn't have been anywhere near the medical field if he was passing out from the sight of blood since he was a kid. Go die somewhere Catherine and it isn't' said enough: "Maggie just leave!" "No one likes you, but the writers on the show."
-
Now that I look more, yes most of the time you saw Jill and Tim, later Brad and Randy's beds had a mattress. However, when you saw the boys in their bunk beds or later when Brad and Mark were living in the basement room. There are NO Mattresses, which doesn't make sense. You have to wonder if it was because basic mattresses were keeping the actors from moving or if Noah Smith, just didn't like mattresses, but I noticed its only when Smith had to be in bedroom scenes of if it was two of the boys living together. Odd Choice. As for Jill's "turn into Fred Jr" yeah, why the writers went this way doesn't make sense, because Patricia Richardson said she did not enjoy that about her character in later years. In fact, Marty's divorce from Nancy was based more on Pat's personal life and the split up from her husband and crumbling of her marriage.
-
Yes, I noticed that many times too. Where was their bedding? Even later on when Mark and Brad were in the basement bunking. All of a sudden, the bedding disappeared again. So, who doesn't like bedding? Mark or Brad?

I know because seriously, even though they are stretching credibility how the exchange student is still there a year later. The grandmother DOESN'T know her! Even more, she has three other grand daughters and yes, Eve is in the air force and the same just an off handed remark on the sister can't make it. The only people who care about the exchange student are the writers and producers. The chemistry is also off with the actors, even Nancy Travis has this: "well, we have to work together" vibe now going.
-
Why they have to kill him off. I mean they got rid of Ripley, who really only problem was you know, making sound human advice like get checked out by a paramedic when he took in smoke. That eventually killed him, not to mention killing Sulley's wife when he knew and was told she was allergic to the stuff he was giving her. But, oh it's better than dead and that's what killed her. Now with Ryan, he is being calm but can't go: "If you play with that you will be hurt like mommy." Not to mention after hearing that her ex husband was crazy, they didn't think about a gun?

You saw the tone of the show shift over two reasons because Spelling wasn't happy with Biel either. Yet, he later admitted he ALWAYS had actors not happy with his past shows, however when he stepped back and let Hampton pretty much run everything on the show. It just got, very, very, very bad. I think if Spelling would have before his death just said: "You know, we are falling behind in the ratings, it's getting expensive, other members of the show WANT cut back hours (which they got and still getting expensive), let's wrap this up with season 8." But oh no, he wanted to go until his dying breath and figured as long as people watched and the WB wanted it on, he would keep going." Tori didn't help, because she even said: "It was one of dad's last shows, so let it keep going on."

TV writers seriously probably NEVER went to outstanding universities, so they just gloss over that: "They just get better breaks than we ever did." Which is another TV cliche. The show that ever did a realistic piece on Financial Aids or Scholarships was really: The Middle in the last few years. Though they stretched it with Axl a bit, but went back several times to correct it. Shows like American Housewife and The Connors seriously have NO IDEA how school finances or even tuition breaks work. Same goes with girl scout cookie sales or boy scout popcorn sales. That's what takes me out of the episodes is when you just role you eyes with: "Don't act like they are smart people when they act like they live under rocks."

I remember Mark Paul Gossier saying he thought that was just plain stupid years later. He got the SAT was more about what you know and not how "well" you are doing in school. However, those schools also look into your academic background, clubs, activities, ect. To have it that Jessie wouldn't be on the radar who was such an over achiever. It was like with Paris over on Gilmore Girls where she didn't get into Harvard. Even critics went: "Oh come on, not even remotely possible."
