Yep and its so bad, Owen can't talk about it and his mother has to say things behind closed doors. I was waiting for Amelia at the bar to go: "So, why the hell does Owen hate you so much and why can't anyone tell me about it?"

Christopher was like that. You tell him one thing and he go blowing the secret shortly afterwards. Plus, if Rory wouldn't have seen him, then things would have been fine. Chris acted like he had to be a concerned dad at that moment when he didn't show he was to begin with. He wasn't sure of the decision but he wasn't going: "Rory, that's completely a stupid idea!" Same with Chris telling Luke that that Lorelai and Luke were together for now and that like always, she would come back to him. If Emily wouldn't have forced to talk to Chris like he was a horse who had to mate with a Philly because of his "background". He would have stayed where he was before Wedding Bell Blues (I hate the episode with a passion). Chris never seem to get it, like any time. "Guess we have to get married now." after Rory was born. "I would have dropped out of school anyhow even if it wasn't for you." after the disaster in Season 1 with his parents and the Gilmores. "I don't know what to do, I worked, Sherry was at home with GiGi." "Lorelai and I belong together, always have." He never stopped to think in all seven seasons how much stupidity came out of his mouth and never learned to shut up or to move on with his life. He was charming, good looking, he owned a motorcycle and a truck at one time but in the end, he was a moron. -

Plus, Luke had his charms in romance like the portable skating rink or making dinner. He just wasn't over the top, chocolate/flowers take her on exotic trips and to hell with money. He was a very good father figure and he was willing to give people 2nd, 3rd, 4th and even 5th chances (He never murdered Kirk or Taylor like the rest of us would have). Luke was a good guy but he didn't like surprises and he wasn't good at dealing with life altering issues. Even with talks with Liz, when their parents died, Luke knew what he had to do since he was now the "man of the house" but he had to process it. When we told the main factor when he decided to change his father's hardware story into the diner. He thought about it for months before even proposing the idea and even asking his sister if it was a good idea. He wasn't good at split second decisions outside of Lorelai's proposal. He was always taken back and instead of trying to ask for help or deal with the root of the problem. He let it fester until it blew up ie: April, Anna, Nicole and Christopher. -

I agree with that, Richard even agreed that Chris doing the right for Sherry and the baby was noble and at that point he gave up on Chris, Lorelai and Rory being one big happy family at that point while Emily didn't. Emily approved of Max because he was a teacher, from a good family and was teaching at Chilton. Hence, she had no problem with them and if things would have worked out differently, I could have seen Emily right there and then letting go of that fantasy with Chris. My biggest problem with Chris is not only his falling into success but how much enabling of his behavior by everyone except for Rory and Luke. It got so old, I mean Straub still blamed Lore and Rory for him dropping out of school and everything. He dropped out because he just couldn't do it. He wasn't supporting Lorelai or Rory at that point in his life. He had his calls but really, nothing was directly effecting him during his college days. In fact, he even confessed to Lore that he would of most likely dropped out because he hated it and it wasn't for him. I could of have seen that scenario playing out and Straub telling him to grow a pair and get through it and not to let the family down. Christopher was not a bad guy but sadly he didn't learn from his mistakes and still was clueless on things. It was like when at Rory's Yale graduation when Lorelai told him about Logan's proposal, he was upset that Logan asked Lorelai instead of him. He didn't get it, that Logan didn't have a relationship with him and after their marriage ending. He felt more right asking Lorelai because of their relationship and Logan's relationship with Lorelai. Yet, Christopher's reaction was: "But I'm her dad." -

I carried this from the Netflix thread since it does make more sense here: I really never thought about Chris doing that but looking back, I agree, it did seem that Chris was doing it more for Sherry than for Rory and Lorelai. In fact, that's why Lorelai started getting so upset at Sherry's baby shower and started messing up the bathroom. She was so upset that Chris got his shit together for Sherry but never did the same for her those years. Of course, looking it over now, in some small way, I think Chris was trying to make up for past wrongs but then when he told Lorelai after Sherry bolted what it was like after Georgia was born. I was like: "I think they were both morons." I know it was a plot point to throw a wrench in Luke and Lorelai's relationship, AS-P even admitted it. Same with April showing up, all of a sudden we had to see that Luke had this horrible ex and that he was apparently an "irresponsible" person when he was younger. Which made no sense but amazing how much we had to have these 180 turns to make characters look better when Sherry had been established and even Luke had been established in several seasons as a guy who went out of his way for people and got trampled on by others. All in to throw wrenches in a relationship the creator and showrunners didn't want because they didn't know how to write Luke and Lorelai as a couple. -
Sad to say, yeah, even with Dylan, who is the dumber Phil but has a lot of Phil's attributes. If you look at Dylan's various jobs and business ideas, they are very much like Phil but to a much lower IQ. With Andy, you have like Phil in the business model and hard working but so naive to things you have to hit him with a road sign and he still be: "What you mean, Beth is bad for me?" "She's perfect... lalala... ponies!" Even the doctor that Haley went out with, he was very naive. Hard working and great job and together, but if you didn't explain anything to him, he didn't get it. We get it writers, Haley wants someone like her dad.
-
I chalked that up with AS-P's view on women in that type of working world. Just like some movies and shows do that with both men and women who are workaholics. Then its: "I can't be a parent, this wasn't my plan!" Are their people like that? Oh yeah, known a few but no where were they to those extremes. Same thing, Sherry was a plot device for Chris to make us feel: "Oh poor Chris, his workaholic girlfriend left him to raise his daughter alone. Because being a mom wasn't in her plans. Wahhhhh!" As said by many, Chris fell into success on many occasions and when things weren't going well for him, he called Lorelai for help. Why his character pissed me off so much. Then he expected people to understand his situation and it didn't help that Emily and Richard and even Lorelai enabled his behavior. Rory was one of the few that said: "Fine dad, be this way, never make a smart decision, just make a reaction decision." Even after Lore and Chris got married, she wasn't happy with it because she knew it wouldn't end well. She was one of the few people that realized her father wasn't perfect but he got through life because people either handed him things or he trip and fell into success.
-
That was Chris's major flaw through the series, he took easy ways out if he could. Even when he was stuck with raising Georgia alone, he immediately called Lorelai to help him because he didn't know what to do. Now, having your spouse leave you is one thing but he acted like he had no idea how to deal with a toddler. Working and having a stay at home mom is one thing but in those five minutes, it was like Chris never changed a diaper. Even when he decided to pay for the remaining years for Yale for Rory. He didn't even tell Richard he was doing it, he just did it. Chris acted first and thought later. Lorelai learned to think things through first even though we later found out she was still bad at that. I'm sure we'll end up seeing David Suttcliff return but really at this point in the series, Chris better have figured out how to be a parent, Georgia would be half way through with HS by the time the series starts. I don't want the return of: "Lorelai, help me, I have no idea how to raise my kid." I'll immediately fast forward.

Very good points, even if Mrs. Kim had a lot of Emily's flaws by being over bearing in her beliefs. I'm not talking about their religion, just that Mrs. Kim had a clear vision on how Lane was going to live and be raised. However, just as Lane made peace with her fate, so did Mrs. Kim. Her support of Lane's band, living arrangements and even getting married and having kids early. She realized that she couldn't control her daughter's life and as they say: "God has other plans." The only problem was, I really wouldn't have minded Mrs. Kim getting a taste of her own medicine with her own mother finding out and we was revealed during Lane's wedding. Then having her mother go: "Its cool." Which was the opposite of Mrs. Kim's reaction as she said: "Children aren't suppose to make the rules." If they would have had it where her mother who she believed she had to hide her religion and be traditional Korean would have seen everything else and been: "Its your life, be happy." Then her reaction would have been priceless. -
Two episodes in a row that were funny and so few political jokes, no Ryan or Body, we are on a roll here. I have no problem with believing this girl could be Eve's friend but to be a best friend? That was a little too much disbelief. We have never seen her and she is such an opposite of Eve it was almost too much. However, what I did like was Eve was fun this episode and has been in the previous two, she was acting like a girl of 17 almost 18. Eve can be a fun character when they allow her not to be mini Mike. I had no problem with her tomboy status over the course of the show but it got to be too much. Her wanting to shoot guns, being so spiteful and mean to Boyd in season 2 and three. Her downright belittling of Mandy, Kristin and at times, Vanessa. It was too much and if it was my daughter I would have had a few choice words for her. I also liked that Mike was more upset because he knows that Eve is going into the military and will be gone in a little over 6 months. That shows a father wanting to spend time with the last of his girls because he knows she is going to be out of the house for a longer period of time. Not like Mandy who is stuck in the basement or Kristen who he sees everyday at work. That is something I did enjoy about the show and much better than bitter old man Mike we've seen since the show began. I do wish they would stop with Vanessa being so stupid about race. I mean her line about a "Black Sydney Poite" I was like: "Oh come on, that was so forced and how long has she known the Parkers?" I hated everything with Kristin, I still feel she is one of the weakest pieces of the show outside of Ryan and Boyd. Ever since Amanda Fuller has been in the role, you can't get behind her in the part. Kris has been written to be: "Poor me, life is so hard." Not the one who was trying to get her life back on track despite being knocked down in season 1 that Alex Krosney, played so well. I'm sorry but her telling Mandy she was tired of her just breezing through in life was too much. She has been handed a good job not once but twice by an old friend and then her father and Ed. She took Ryan back in almost no time, she has done very stupid decisions with Boyd and yet everyone is: "Oh poor, Kristen, here have some money." I have officially come to the conclusion that the writers know that Kris can't be pulled off as either funny or sympathetic by Fuller, but she doesn't complain about her part or her lines to the TPTB so they keep her and have tried to force the writing to like her. Much like with Mike's political talk that is out of place and destroys the episodes that focus on it. So, they feel this is the lesser of two evils. I have enjoyed this season much more than last season, but the facts remain. Kristin, Ryan and Boyd are the weakest parts of the show and I think the producers are seeing that now. They just don't want to loose the sister dynamic of the show even though Fuller with Ephram and Dever and doesn't pull it off like Krosney did. They know that Ryan and Boyd are hated by the fans and that the kid playing Boyd can't act and that Jordan Masterson is apparently doing a movie right now so he isn't in these episodes. The show is hitting 100 in February and the way ABC has no real hits this year, I could see them going a sixth season on it, especially if the ratings keep steady. However, if they do go with a sixth season they are going to have to figure out a way to keep Eve on the show because if they think Fuller is going to work with Ephram on a regular basis and try to put Ryan more front and center or magically bring in a "Cousin Oliver" to fill Dever's role, then the show is going to plunge off a cliff fast.

Yeah, that really made no sense. Especially after the last year of Luke being told to do all these chores and repairs. Plus, the way Phil has been on about the duck project, there is no way he would have left that hole there. Something that really has been crazy the last couple of years is Dylan's constant changing career or money ideas. Where is he getting the money and how can he just go: "Well, I decided to go into nursing because that's where I seem to be heading." To then: "I have a sign to spin." "My V neck letter shirts are winners." He has turned into Gil from the Simpsons and Kirk from Gilmore Girls.

Yeah, it does come off as the entire Castle crew wants to give us all a middle finger. Even worst, its like they are purposely trying to get the show cancelled because I can guarantee you this will cause more fans to walk off in droves. These new show runners don't want to do a show called Castle that is has an established formula and proven what works and what doesn't. No, they want to do a show about contrived plots, bad spy stories and characters that don't resemble established and people with brains. No, they want people who act like morons and plots that make no sense. But they know better than us.

Here is the problem with Dylan with me, he is all over the place. In the writing, in the jokes. Is he funny? Oh yeah. Do I get why they keep bring hi back? Oh yes. However, when he and Haley are together I think I'm back in season 1 and 2. They haven't change and they want to write it that Haley has and wants more in life and not some "hot guy". Yet, their plan is to throw her with Andy? Who cares? I know there are some people out there who do, but it just smells of contrive. Plus, they spent two years with no show Beth and then she's: "No one touches my man!" Even though they have broken up constantly and she came back because someone else was interested in Andy. Yeah, that's a marriage that will last even if they are setting it up for the wedding to be stopped by Haley or some divine act that Haley and Andy are meant to be. Oh gag! The problem with the entire Dumphy Clan is they never learn. Claire still shrieks and shrills. Phil comes up with some crazy idea that no one wants to do. Alex is: "Poor me, I'm so nerdy no one wants to date me but I'm shrill like my mom." Luke has lost so many braincells he is at the point of not knowing how to breath and Haley is: "Look, I'm super hot but duh... where do I go in life? Oh Andy, don't marry Beth!"

That's the thing, when actors have chemistry together, it really shows and that's what I think the major problem was. We weren't suppose to like Chris and in fact many of the story lines I wanted to punch him. However, Gram and Sutcliffe really clicked and it was true that Graham and Patterson couldn't get along outside the show. Then that's going to be a major problem. Its like pairing people who have no chemistry as a couple on a TV show. When it doesn't work or when writers can't write a main couple together they go: "Its the Moonlighting Curse." OH SHUT UP! If you can't write believable story lines with couples and feel you have to have "drama" or the actors don't really like each other but you "have to" write them together. Well, either sit down, shut up and write or pick a different career or switch shows. I hate when shows go: "Its the Moonlighting Curse." Even Bruce Willis and Sybil Shepard have said: "Would you stop using us as an excuse, it was other things and not our characters."

Oh the ducks were great. I'm very happy they are continuing this story.

Man this episode was all over the place. I get everything with Luke but Alex lying because she was embarresed? Come on, enough with everyone can get a date by Alex, she is very attractive. Personality wise, OK, but its gotten old. I had read they were going to move Mitch into getting his own practice because the writers were having problems writing him unemployed even if its a real subject right now. Gloria's story line made little sense either but Jay and Joe at the end. Awww... Still, the episode was a mess with plots that made no sense and of course here with go with Andy and Haley again. Yeah, he not only dropped the weight fast he apparently got thinner too. Now, the invite to the wedding. Yeah, where is this going? Also, man Uber was in product placement city from Modern Family to Blackish tonight. We get it, its awesome, but I don't live in LA and I don't live in Chicago.

Not to mention Erin's ex, I could see him going to law school first, while Erin was raising Nicky. After he passed the bar and then got a regular job for a bit and Nicky started school, she could have started law school then. Not unheard of and very common for some parents. Then once they both were working, Nicky was older, the problems started and then the divorce.

Past Seasons Talk: From Seattle Grace to Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital
readster replied to maraleia's topic in Grey's Anatomy
Oh I agree, it does make you wonder. All the series I have watched over the years, seeing or hearing how a lot of the actors had stories based on what they wanted and others who really want to pay their bills. It does amaze me what counts as someone who can have input on a story and others who are told to shut up and deal with it. Its like with Owen once again getting a storyline with a character he has some "past with" been there so many times you wonder how the guy was even in the military. Yeah, I do look forward to a Tell-all some day because when you watch or read about shows like Grey's you are really shocked by things that were going on behind the scenes. -

TR was getting upset the way they were writing George. So much, that the producers were calling him a "pain in the ass". He didn't like where George was going and really started hating the story lines. Hence, the bus running him over. -
Which is very true, there have been series the last decade where networks did just this. The shows were long dead but they poured money into shows because of small spikes. Best example was 7th Heaven from the WB/CW. The show had been crashing in ratings for the last four years it was on. In fact, its 11th season should never had happen because it had a major spike in the 10th season finale which was supposed to be the series finale. "Series finale" of course there would be a spike in ratings for that. They ended up dumping Everwood as a result that was doing much, much better in ratings but they had it out for the show and there were also problems with other series such as Gilmore Girls slipping in ratings. So, they poured money into the dying shows than focus on ones that weren't Smallville or Supernatural at the time. Something everyone kicked themselves over a year later when they lost out on so much money and had parting ways with the creators of various shows. Castle and ABC have now done the same, they are trying to cling on to last bit spikes but they have alienated the audience and gone against what made the show work, but they want to hold onto the spikes. Add in how bad of a season ABC has this year and lack of replacement shows or ideas that could have them recover in midseason. Its time for Castle to sadly come to an end because like me and Mrs. Readster and our family members, we can't watch it anymore. We don't enjoy it and all the characters are acting way, way too stupid.

Star Wars Rebels - General Discussion

Hondo and Chopper, a match made in the stars. I laughed so many times, and Chopper with two blasters taking out the gangsters. What is not to love. -
I guess this was The Hangover 3.1. Drunk Ken is funny but wow! The bad lies to get out of things, Ken really thinking he had to teach Molly a lesson. Ken's boss now trying to save on money using one glove and half a tissue. I'm sorry, really? Really? Have a lawsuit anytime soon? The Ken family is funny, especially Ken but the health care place is horrible. You have the naive doctor, the over bearing/stupid boss, the gay nurse, the nurse who thinks she knows it all. Its horrible. Full season or not, I would be fine with Ken getting his own practice and away from the blackhole of the Wellness Center. What's really bad, all those actors are funny people, I've seen them in many shows and they are funny but their characters are so cliche and badly written, I want to mute the TV.

Wow! A use for Boyd that actually made sense and no Ryan. I liked it, I did have a problem with Ed just telling Mike to forget his 30th anniversary weekend and do his job. I get it was a story plot but Ed has at time praised Mike and Vanessa for being together as long as they have. Especially, since he has been married 5 times. Oh well. Speaking of which, I see the writers didn't want to deal with the main root of Ed and Holly being the miscarriage of their son. I figured they wouldn't want to go there, since it was more of drama and we know the writers aren't comfortable with them. As for Kristin, so they have completely dropped her wanting to be a doctor to be a restaurant owner. Oh well, they never really had any heart invested in the story anyhow. We rarely saw Kristin doing homework, she never talked about labs, was anti-vaccine and other things that doctors do. I could have lived with her deciding to change to nursing school or practicer, but oh well. One politic joke but I see it was the talk about people being lazy and doing nothing. I've heard that joke with democrat, republican and liberal for years.

Another thing with Penny, when Richard was going over her qualifications and even saying he was giving her the same chance he gave Meredith. I wanted to smack him upside the head. Because he knows what happened when he did that was Addison and Derek and later on with Derek and Mark. Yes, it worked out in the end but it caused so much drama and he was upset over it. Especially when it made him face his affair with Elis and Adel basically giving up her life to keep the shame in check. Plus, all good grades and acknowledgement and Penny is still the same character she was introduced at the clinic. She gets told to shut up or not to bother people, she shuts up and walks away. She doesn't try to stand up for herself, she crumbles and then goes: "but I'm good." So, either have her find her backbone or go work for a practice where no one will belittle you. I also agree, she has zero chemistry with Callie. You can have them make out all you want, its not there.
-
Hey, I'm Penny. I have amazing grades and highly recommended but as soon as someone bully's or tells me to leave them alone, I crumble. That's exactly who she is, they introduced her as such and nothing has changed. I agree, anyone else would have wanted to deck Meredith, especially for her hair last night. The wife and I both were saying how horrible it looked. However, as we have seen on Grey's since day one, if your attending completely belittles you, calls you a moron and so forth. Oh, they are just trying to make you better and teach you something. Not come across as abusive or wanting to punch them. Glad to know that Owen hates a new doctor because of some "deep dark secret" while everyone else is: "He's great! Like slice bread made into a sandwich." April and Avery are perfect for each other, they won't deal with their main problems, neither one of them will divorce the other and they won't get down to the root of their main problem. They had their son die from a horrible genetic disorder that wasn't either of their fault. Samuel died, with the slide timeline it has been almost 2 years since then. I believe a parent never truly gets over the death of a child no matter how young or old. However, in April and Avery's case, they should have moved on, tried to have another child and then gone from there. Instead April is trying to magically heal her marriage, when she was the one who ran out of it to get "her space" while she thinks that gave Avery his space at the time. I also agree, the kid's refugee status made no sense if he was originally from Jordan. If he was from Syria, Iraq or something, then I completely would believe the story. Not to mention how they had to explore surgically to find all the bones and pieces to make his hands normal. They would have seen that the basics were there in the x-rays and ultrasounds first. Then seen if the veins and ligaments were there during the surgery. Instead it was: "It's all here, hooray!"
