What really made the story not work was first of all: There would have been more notice of Herm's retirement. You just don't in one day go: "Oh hey, we need a cake, supplies and everyone needs to drop everything and get this party going." Another thing was why everyone was against the mint chip. I mean Claire wants that type of ice cream cake and everyone acts like she ordered the black plague. Need a reason why everyone gives the big stink eye as soon as it was mentioned. Another thing is, Claire should have known better about getting an ice cream cake. You have to be able to keep it cold, they were writing Claire like she was doing a birthday party for an 8 year old. Also, I can get Claire walking into the doors but can't open the file cabinets, falling and really hurting herself. Not to mention the big bang in the glass doors and only her daughters come to see if she ok? Its like the company is: "That Claire, ignore her and maybe she'll go away." I also wish they would decide on what to do with Luke. One minute he's so stupid he can't figure out how to tie his shoes, the next he is seeing scam artists everywhere and thinks his dad is too stupid to see it. Phil could have just said to the doctor: "I'm sorry, I can't place you right now." You couldn't fault him, the doctor lost hair and gained 40 lbs in 15 years, it happens. As for his car magically showing up in that spot after being tow. That made no sense, also why would he come back to the area? Too many holes, funny moments but way too many holes.

She did and I love the fact that even though she was trying to embarrassed herself for Barry. The whole school got in on it.

Mostly likely but I still have the feeling there will be more Chris than we want. I can see either Milo and Jared showing up in the mini movies. Filming schedule is different and Milo is kind of between jobs right now. Supernatural, honestly is on its last legs.

Exactly! It was also along of the lines of: "Oh look, she fell, hey look! Popcorn!" Its not funny, I one time almost tripped in an office building and three people I never even talked to asked if I was ok. The writers think they are being funny but they are not. Write the characters to fit the plot when the plot doesn't make sense to begin with. Two grown daughters and one is 21, why are they going to work with her? Of course, Cam is a champion winning football coach and his office is treated like a supply closet and he has two lunch hours. Here is another thing, don't Cam and Mitch have some type of savings? Cam might be a spend thrift when he gets a little bit of extra money but they have never been depicted as throwing money away.

Its always the joke, when has a TV show, especially a sitcom ever depicted teachers realistically? They are either making no money, can magically have free time when they want it. The principals or school board members are over bearing micromanagers. Unions don't exist. You never see them making lesson plans and they don't have classrooms. They are used for storing stuff for custodial. Because its funny! When its not.

Bunheads had the characters so removed from reality and AS-P had no idea how the world of dance worked. It was so bad, it was good but at the same time it was full of holes and change of characters on the dime. It was no surprised it failed.
-
Exactly! She is a freshman in college. Now, if Alex was doing a report on her mother's job for a class, ok that would work otherwise only Luke is really only qualified for that kind of day.

That's the problem and doesn't matter if the actor is good or bad when there is too many episodes in a row focused on one specific character. It gets old and you get tired of seeing them. Something about shows with big assembles, you have to space out stories so that way you care about the stories but then not going: "Hey, that's right, there is this character too." Boy Barry, you have to love it.

Claire has really been established as a moron in Jay's business. Honestly, I agree, I don't know how he expects to leave her the business. Her professional skills are a joke, she has no connection with any employees and she is out of touch with the closet business. Its the classic: "I'm going to groom you to take over the business one day." Then the child of the founder screws it up without even trying. Claire being serious, I get but this clueless when she has been working and learning the company for almost three years. I don't think so. A 2 hour lunch? How do I work for this school?

I just call it: AS-P wanted her spin off show and wanted to make sure the plot fit the genius of making her new show. No matter how many times I view the season. There is no way Jess could have gotten that far with failing before he was called into the office or Luke not knowing. Same goes for him working at Walmart because working at Walmart is so awesome to get money and 10% discount that the manager wouldn't have realized the conflict of schedule with Jess. Also, Jess's attitude about it was nothing to worry about since it was all "Mickey Mouse" stuff. Jess was really clueless to how completely high school was and his motivation was simply, he didn't want to do it. Plus, with Luke's push to get Jess to either fly straight or get out was a bit too much too. In fact, there could have been the GED option. But like I said, it was what AS-P wanted to get Milo on her super awesome new show that was never approved. -

Sad to say I know someone in the family who is exactly like Emily. No matter the cold hard facts or anything, its the world according to them and everyone be damned if you try to prove them wrong. One of Emily's biggest flaws no one called her on, she viewed the world a certain way even when she was constantly hit over the head that things don't work that way. Or because you care about something doesn't mean someone else will just fall in love with it too. Emily was about appearance, the DAR and related things and if you didn't find any interest or knowledge of it. You were constantly having it thrown back in your face. Emily did it to Richard a couple of times too. She could be so downright hateful and stubborn, I'm surprised if a doctor told her she had a fatal brain tumor and needed to be operated on. She wouldn't go: "Don't you even think about shaving my head!" "I rather drool then have any type of scar on my head." -
That's a tall order, since Amy has been known to use actors who are free because she loves using them. Even if they have no point to the plot. If they were free, AS-P threw them in. Like with Dean's final onscreen appearance. Jared had just landed the role on Supernatural but was free for a few weeks and then came angry, bitter Dean saying things to Luke that made no sense. Jared said he didn't like his final appearance but was good for a paycheck. Same with Rick Sutcliff when: "I'm with Her" was cancelled on NBC. As soon as he was free with no signs of a new show, Amy created the: "Christopher will return and destroy Luke and Lorelai because I can! Bwahhhahaha!"

It was to the point of completely radicalness how much they both felt Christopher was the best for Lorelai. Emily got worst and there was moments especially after the reveal that Christopher had knocked up his girlfriend, that Richard pretty expressed he was tired of waiting for him. There just gets a point where you have to let things go. However, we know that both Emily and Lorelai had problems doing that. Something that really needs to be acknowledged if they are going to do the new Netflix mini series. They need to wrap things up to where its time to move on with things. I mean if I even get one argument that Chris should be involved still. I would knock Emily over. His daughter is in her 30s and his other one would be in her late teens by now. Not only has the ship sailed but it has been decommissioned and buried. -
If they pull it off, the best way would start with Richard's funeral. Which would bring everyone back together. For the rest of the characters, seriously Luke and Lorelai should be married now and just go from there. If they want to do 4 mini movies that are 90 minutes they can introduce plots that pay off by the end but they really need to watch it. We know how AS-P can get on a soapbox with her story lines even if she knows where to begin and end them.

I agree, plus Emily still never saw what she did was wrong. I at times wish someone would have smacked her upside the head and gone: "Would you wake up!" Emily had this very sense of the world according to Emily Gilmore and God forbid you ever disagreed with it. -
Everything is going to blow up in the face of the president with Security Advisor guy its going to make all the men look like morons. I'm sorry, but the writing is on the wall. I don't think they could have predicted Female Hitler but this is just the classic: "I'll turn this to my advantage. Kill them all and let God sort them out." Problem with Madam Secretary like other government shows, all of a sudden there is a dark conspiracy in the US government and in the end the bad guys go: "It was for the greater good."

Wow! They really went the cliche with the boss making everyone work on the weekends so he can make more money. Plus, his wife is ready to leave him. Who saw that coming? Only Dr. Ken can fix this because you know, he's the CEO, so you can't get him into trouble with the BBB or anything.

Like I said earlier, all the family had to do with Phil was just let him have his fun. They know how he is, he has to follow things through and if any of the kids would have just done a search. They would have realized that yes, even in a month, there is still time for the eggs to hatch if treated right. Instead they were: "OH that stupid Phil, thinking he will hatch eggs that he found." My problem is when characters act like they haven't been through things before, much like with Cam here feeling he needs to be liked. He finally admits: "What is wrong with me?" Just like with Mitch, just admit, you don't care about half the stuff the family or your spouse enjoy and go do things you do enjoy. Its gone to the point that Mitch is such a kill joy like Claire, its no surprise they don't have friends or Mitch is having such a problem having a full time job now. Here with Gloria screaming seeing her favorite spanish soup opera star. Hello, have you met people before in your life? You know its a problem when you have to change character traits to make the plot work. Shows signs of weak writing.
-
Also, I think they are trying to also work towards the actors with their strengths in their roles. If you notice, Murray is immediately ready to hate what ever idea he is told. Beverly is in super smothering mode now that if one of the kids stubbed their toes she would have the principle fixing the crack in the floor by telling him he doesn't care for his students enough and he would do it. Its like with Coach at one point not telling Adam. "Ok, Goldburg, you don't want to do the swimming unit, then you have two choices. 1. take a failing grade or do this to at least get a half credit and not fail." Since we are in season 3 now, the writers are taking the quirks of the characters to extremes to where it isn't out of character for them but more to make the plots work. LIke with Barry once again trying to make it so he's the focus instead of Erica. His motivation here was because he was jealous and wanted Air Jordans. Instead of going: "Well fine, I'll start my own club." Still a funny show and ah, Jams, I remember you well.

Sad but true, even in my former home town, there tends to be tension with PD and FD. Comes down to one feels they are doing their job the right way and other is hindering them. Of course, you have to like the Fire Commissioner saying that Frank loved the press and talking to them. I wanted to go: "Really? What show have you been watching the last few years?"

That's the real frustration, it doesn't know what it wants to be anymore. The show originally was about a man deal with his life with his wife and daughters and the angsts in life the followed. Then in season 2 it decided it needed to get political and deal with a man returning after running out on his family (Ryan). Then it became as you put it, the strawman fashion of political talk. I see hints of the show when it leaves the political crap out of an episode or doesn't focus on Ryan/Kristin/Boyd stupidity. Those are the better episodes and yes when there are focuses on Ed. This was the first episode that Ryan/Kristin actually kind of dealt with Boyd together. Previous episodes it was Ryan was being an idiot about Boyd or Boyd did something and only Ryan had to deal with the problem. Kristin might have been in those episodes but there was no interaction or talk about what had just happened. What's the problem now is, that Mike has the solution to everything in less than 2 seconds and then everyone fights with him on the decision. Here with private vs. public, it was completely hacked eye. Now, if they would have gone saying there were two private schools that have individual set ups for Boyd then ok. Instead they made it sound like all private schools are like that and the fact that Boyd is directly calling his teacher "boring" in the middle of class. Sorry, that isn't a kid bored, that is a kid who has no discipline but these days its not the kid's fault its the teacher, right? The real problem is with Vanessa, now she can't deal with the bureaucracy of the school now. I really rolled my eyes when she talked about how she used to be a VP of an energy company and so forth. Yeah, you were until your moron of a son-in-law decided to dress your grandson as a lump of coal and made his grandmother feel she was destroying the environment. Or let's not forget the classmate of Eve who also said the same thing even though the classmate had no evidence for it and was on their own agenda. But of course if your dad tells you and a classmate says it, it must be true and Vanessa instead of standing her ground decides to quit. I also want to roll my eyes on how this school works. Meetings like how Vanessa wanted to drink herself stupid or changes they want to make don't work that fast and happen during formal assessment and after school. Not a few hours after work, not: "Get in here now, or else." Now, if they are going to homeschool Boyd, that means we will have to see more of him on TV. Hello LMS, no one cares about Boyd and the kid isn't a good actor and you always write him as a spaz.
-
At least five now and they have all revolved about the fact that Adam doesn't want to do something for whatever reason: "Body, not athletic, can't really do it." As much as I love coach, they really need to stop with: "Adam doesn't want to do something in gym storyline". Reminded me when they couldn't think of a good story line on Home Improvement and the back up plan was: "Make Jill sick, that always works." She was sick in five episodes and it centered around the fact that Tim and the boys couldn't take care of her or were busy doing something else: super bowl Sunday, interview, girlfriends, sports figure in town. Just like there has to be some music situation with Erica. Its fall back troupe for the characters.

For a long time that was the thought. Same goes in the 60s-70s with pregnant teachers. They were made to quit when they were closed to giving birth because schools felt there was no possible way that women could teach and be a mom at the same time. Despite the media and MTV celebrating teen pregnancy. Most teen girls or younger women go: "I'm not ready for that yet." When they see their peers a teen mom. We had 5 teen pregnancies when I was in high school in the 90s and let me tell you, most girls were scared of sex because of seeing that. Of course in the Gilmore Gils Universe timelines changed frequently, people were upset just because they could and if you were rich you were a jerk. -
I like how out of touch they were on how private schools work. "Boyd will get individual attention he needs." Yes, its called IEP because nothing suggests that Boyd is too intelligent. Private schools don't have regular programs set up unless its a gifted program, they work like public with probably less trouble makers and a few other things. However, they function like a regular school with dress code and you pay higher in tuition. I wanted to laugh at Kristin when she asked what she was doing at the restaurant. I wanted to go: "Being a plot contrivance!" Of course LMS doesn't seem to understand public education too, first of all Vanessa would not have a mandatory meeting at night a few hours after school ended. It would have happened directly after school was over for the day. Admin and even the board like to go home at night and relax. They want to get things finished and done with and go home, plus they never really clarified what Vanessa had to do. Sounded like three teachers were going to go on maternity leave and she had to fit those spots. Umm... that's not how that happens, a permeant sub is usually found until the time those teachers work. It isn't the 60s-70s where if a teacher was pregnant they had to quit their job and they had to hire a new teacher. Trust me, to be a teacher these days you have to jump through so many hoops for the state by laws from people who have never taught in a classroom because they think: "It will make better teachers." That's why the educational system is so screwed up, not by what president is in office but people in state offices who think they know what is the perfect way to run a school and then have no idea how to do it but they are in charge so they do it. No one is in infallible whether they are republican or democratic or liberal. I'm tired of Tim Allen acting like the Republican party is completely perfect.

How very true and it wasn't like the Gilmores really went on talking about the estrangement either. Which of course was something bothered me about the entire talk why Chris, Lorelai and Rory couldn't be a big happy family to make everything right. The only people who really cared was Emily. Straube and Francine afterwards could have cared less and it was Emily constantly wanting that, which lead to Chris's stupidity in trying to always get her.
