I *love* The Hot Potato Job, especially the part when Nate and Hardison make friends with the kid Trevor, and he ends up sneaking the potato out of the building. Parker: "The diamond's in the potato?" It's great seeing this show in reruns, because I think some of them I only saw first run and it's great to revisit them.

I just wish MeTV would put Perry on at 9 or 10 pm in prime time, since it doesn't come in well in my cable/over the air reception via Tivo in New York City, and the best way I can watch it is on Time Warner TV which I can get via Roku. Sometimes it's hard to record *everything*!

So sad about Ann Morgan Guilbert. I remember when they made the Dick Van Dyke reunion show and she picked up playing Millie again as if she hadn't stopped for 45 years.

I recorded a 6 AM showing of a 1932 film "The Crash" on TCM Monday. I've always wondered why there have been apparently so few attempts by Hollywood to dramatize the events of the 1929 market crash and the effects on the country. This was an interesting pre-code with Ruth Chatterton as a cynical woman with a fear of poverty who carelessly fabricates the wrong stock advice to husband George Brent when her ex lover refuses to give her any more tips. Directed by William Dieterle who also made the brilliant 1931 "lost generation" film "The Last Flight."

I remember the absolute contempt he received from most critics at the time; for some reason time seems to have changed things somewhat. I have never liked the Who. I'm not really sure why - it may have something to do with their lyrics which strike me as rather contrived - but I saw them along with the Stones in the film Rock and Roll Circus and the Who still did nothing for me, even in their prime.

Just found this thread! Like most people I'm still feeling very sad about the loss of Prince, and I would really like to purchase his cover of Crimson and Clover - I heard it one time on the radio (an oldies station on Long Island I'm pretty sure) but it doesn't seem to be on iTunes or anything like that. Any place I can buy it? I always liked the original but his version is amazing.

I always wonder how the regular cast kept a straight face through that one. Love that episode.

I'm watching the Season 19 Episodes on ION lately. I try to record some for other nights since they seem to be playing a bunch on Wednesdays. Really enjoying Mike Cutter, and Lupo being a law student was a nice touch.

I'm watching what seems to be the most recent season on PBS in the US. I see that Catherine, Camille's mother who runs the local bar, is still around, in fact she had a fairly prominent role tonight. But has there been any reference to Camille since she left to work in Paris? It would be nice if Sara Martins made a guest appearance though the new characters Florence and J.P. are doing well (sometimes I think the supporting cast gets more to do than they once did).

I had the same thought; also they seem to want to bring in a new surprise guest for it each time so maybe they need to wait on that. I love the Brian Greene segments also, he has such a great way of demonstrating new discoveries and his and Stephen's enthusiasm is infectious.

I think I need to re-watch the finale, since I watched a recording of it with the picture and sound going badly out of sync half way through, but a couple of things made me wonder. Did Morland know that Vikner was going to be murdered, would he be considered on some level responsible? And also, while Sherlock didn't want to involve Gregson or Bell in the intended frame up, would they ever find out what really happened? Would this remain an unsolved case to them? I was glad they didn't end on a cliff hanger this year; and I think the season kind of came full circle with Joan reaffirming her loyalty to Sherlock in refusing to move out. The idea of matching up her sister with Marcus seemed a way of providing a bit of a light-hearted last line for Sherlock I think (!)

That reminds me of the time I was going to work in downtown Manhattan on a very windy day, and my very expensive seamless tri-focal glasses blew right off my face and across the street and I didn't know where they had landed. Finally a man operating a food truck found them under the truck. I came back later with $20 for him. He insisted that he didn't want the money.

Well, that seems to confirm that Tony will not be killed off. Now if they can just keep from killing off any other regulars or semi-regulars I might go back to watching the show again.

I agree, I loved the scene between Morland and Gregson. It got frightening when they started with the not so veiled threats. Agree also with Sherlock and Joan finally revealing things to each other. It's a relief. I guess there was bound to be an unexpected twist but I didn't see Moriarty coming either. Lucy Liu did a fine job directing I thought. The scene in which Sherlock shows Joan his mother's ring was so perfectly played and restrained.

I think the quality of the band and the variety of the musical guests is one of the strong points of the show. I also hope they keep the new cold opens, as a way to grab the audience and put Stephen's performing/improv skills to good use right off the bat. If they keep doing that I can live with the opening film intro being shortened, great as it is. I think Midnight Confessions and Friday Night Fights are both entertaining, and Wheel of News, which I think they've only done maybe three times, has been a good way to work in humor about various subjects as they might have done on the old show. I've enjoyed it. I hope they keep the "surprise guest" element going also. I suppose in terms of things to reduce, I would suggest at least sometimes a fewer number of guests, so they have more time for taped pieces down the road. I think they may be moving in that direction already. I would hope that would include all kinds of guests though as they've brought on at times before - including authors, astronomers, etc. The Brian Greene and Space Archeologist (sorry I forget her name) segments have been two of the most memorable so far.

I agree that some interviews should be able to go longer and I also think the other good thing about having fewer guests is that it will eventually give them more time for taped segments. Starting the show with a taped cold open is a good development that plays to Stephen's strengths I think.
