S07.E22: Reunion (Part III)
qtpye replied to Tara Ariano's topic in The Real Housewives Of New York City
I agree, even she realized a talk show is not the right vehicle for her. However, I do believe her complaints are sour grapes and she was shocked that outside the RH franchise people did not take to her. I think she thought she would be a sarcastic and beloved version of Rachel Ray. Bethany desperately wants to get to the next level of fame and she knows the HO shows days are numbered. I think she is addicted to the fame (as Sharon Osbourne said the fame is hard to give up) because she certainly does not need the money. I do not think she hurt her brand by coming back to the show, but I doubt if it helped anything. Many of her scenes started to feel like an infomercial for Skinny Girl. -

I bet you Riley is one of those girls who gets mistaken for much older then she is, because she is so tall. I had to remind myself that she is much younger then Todd's daughter, because they look like they could be contemporaries. -
S07.E22: Reunion (Part III)
qtpye replied to Tara Ariano's topic in The Real Housewives Of New York City
I think I finally put my finger on what about Bethany's performance bothered me, even though I sometimes agreed with what she said (I also sometimes did not). I felt that Bethany was not a Housewife participant, but someone auditioning for a second chance at a talk show. She acts like she is much to good for this show and it is off putting. It is also quite ironic, because one can argue that Bethany is the person who has financially benefited the most from this franchise. I know she had a lot of "hustle", but her brand would be nowhere had she not come on this show. I also think someone decided (because "the powers that be" are stupid) that there was no room for two strong minded successful business women on the show and that could only be Bethany's niche...hence the anti Heather campaign. I really hope Bethany realizes that you do not look down at the people or in this case t.v. show that helped you on the way up, because it is not respecting the fans of the show, who were a big part of her success. -
Kristen Taekman: At Least She's Pretty
qtpye replied to Lisin's topic in The Real Housewives Of New York City
A lot of people are quoting times when Josh has said mean or hateful things to Kristen on screen. I was wondering does anyone remember him ever having said anything positive about her? I know this could be editing, but I do not remember one kind word about his wife. I think Josh loved the idea of a beautiful model on his arm, but it never seemed that he respected her very much as a person. I remember when they told the story about how Josh decided that they move from LA to NY and did not discuss anything with her. I remember Heather (who I usually like) defending his actions as an "entrepreneur" mindset. Bullshit...you do not make a major life change like that and not consult with your spouse. If Kristen does come back and all of a sudden Josh is all lovey dovey on screen I think I am going to puke.- 591 replies

Chilton is usually portrayed as a mean horrible man. However, this actor made Chilton almost endearing. It was so sad because the guy thought he finally got a seat at the cool kids table, only to have a bucket of pigs blood dumped on his head. Also, it is annoying how smug everyone is about how Chilton does not measure up. I think very few people on this show can claim moral superiority at this point.

Dorinda's world translated into reality. Her daughter is an intellectual and private academic. She would never demean herself with such a silly show that does not challenge her impressive mind. Reality: Her daughter is a lazy pampered spoiled brat who was shocked about the negative comments about her behavior and appearance, the time she briefly appeared on the show. Dorinda's is a poised sophisticated woman who goes to bed early and lectures Heather about her crude language. Reality: Dorinda is a sloppy ugly drunk who curses like a sailor and does not realize her own hypocrisy. Dorinda's boyfriend is charming when he puts his hands on women and Dorinida does not mind, so who cares? Also, women who pose topless have no right to complain. Reality: Women should just shut up when her fat pig of a boyfriend gropes them. If Dorinda thinks it's cute then nothing else matters.

Meghan King Edmonds: Third Wife's a Charm
qtpye replied to Null-GPUOT's topic in The Real Housewives Of Orange County
For someone who considers themselves so young and fresh...that was the lamest party I have ever seen on any of the howives franchise. Even though other ladies often hire party planners, they usually put some input into the get together so that everyone has a good time (example: Lisa Vanderpump, heck even rich Adrian used to at least check up on things). It felt like some of the men where having to struggle to keep from falling asleep. I think Meghan (or more likely Bravo) hired those lame hosts and called it a day. It often feels like Meghan is very lazy and seems to want praise for minimal effort. She probably get quite irked when she is not celebrated for the smallest things. I am sure Meghan will attribute the party's failure to all the old people. For some reason she thinks 30 is the new 16. -
I was a little shocked at how Heather seemed terrified of Tamara. When Heather (probably truthfully) brought up her conversation with Tamara to Shannon, how the hell is Tamara the one that gets offended? Tamara was absolutely trash talking the conversation and pot stirring (Tamara's only marketable skill). What irked me is how Heather made a bee line to go the restroom to apologize to Tamara. Woman, you are building a house the size of a La Quinta Inn and married to a man who practically throws money at you (and seems to honestly love you). Why the hell is Tamara's friendship so damn important to you? I think lil Tammy Sue is the chosen one in this group and probably the one who has Andy's ear. This is why Megs is so keen to kiss her ass. Vicki is exempt, because of the OG of the OC crap. What Megs does not realize is the viewers hate Tamra and are keen to her manipulative bullshit. We all like Shannon, because she is authentic and kind ( I do not think I have ever seen her do anything malicious to any of the other howives) in her own kooky oversharing way. So when Megs bullies Shannon, it is like a giant man kicking a sad puppy. I also hate that these women are paid to be taken to some of the most beautiful places in the world and Tamara can only comment about dicks and balls. Remember the comment last season where she called the elephant's penis a "lipstick"? This year she had to comment about the male Tahitian dancers showing their balls. If Tamara was a man and not a petite blonde woman who was probably considered "hot" most of her life, people would think she was a giant perv and avoid her like the plague.

S07.E19: New Beginnings, My Ass
qtpye replied to ichbin's topic in The Real Housewives Of New York City
I agree that this show has become super boring. I am sorry, but the cougar story lines are a snooze. I do not care if a man or woman chooses to date somebody significantly younger than them and a large age difference itself does not make a couple interesting. I think I am out for New York and Bethany brought nothing to the table but Skinny Girl product placements. I will say, for those of you who remember the first season, the power dynamic shift was amazing. In the first season Bethany was a single gal trying to get her fledgling business off the ground. I thought Luanne and Ramona thought she was not in their league as wives of wealthy guys. Now, Bethany's business is a huge success and Ramona and Luanne no longer have rich husbands...Bethany has become the queen bee. Unfortunately, I think most people like her better as the underdog. One example was the restaurant in Queens that Luanne and Ramona found so charming. I remember Ramona being horrified to go to Brooklyn to visit Alex and Simon. If old poor Bethany had suggested the establishment they probably would have thumbed their noses at it. They both gushed about how great it was and I think it was mostly to kiss up to rich successful Bethany, who is now also Andy's favorite. -

I think it is much more selfish to have children you do not want to conform to some societal standard then remain childless by choice. I have no idea why people feel the need to comment on other people's life decisions. Children are wonderful and I love mine, but being a parent is not for everyone. -

Sheree Whitfield: Who Gon' Check Me, Boo?
qtpye replied to cooksdelight's topic in The Real Housewives Of Atlanta
You got to have some balls to be broke and turn down $100K, but good for her for getting a much better deal at the end. Speaking of which...what is her financial situation? Are we actually going to see the completion of Chateau Sheree? At this point, I think the Great Pyramids of Giza were built in less time. -
There used to be a tattoo show on the Lifetime channel called Best Ink. It was the same premise as Ink Master (find the best tattoo artist) and most of the contestants were so sweet and nice, that you wanted to take them home with you. It was even hosted by a former rock star. In the twop forums we often speculated is that the vast difference between the attitude of the two shows was that one channel is geared towards women and the other focused on men. The big problem with Ink Master is that the Spike network can not tell the difference between a bad ass and a ass hole. They encourage the contestants to act in the worst way possible, because it makes the show more "cutting edge" or cool.

Unfortunately, my dog is not that fancy.

No, matter how good you are at something...you should never begin a sentence with "As a self proclaimed God", unless you are being ironic. I think St. Marq said his nickname comes from his family being pastors, but this type of bravado goes against everything Christianity usually stands for. However, I could not get past how unsympathetic Chris was with his poor canvas. I also did not understand how having random pieces of animal hide tattooed on your body transforms you into that animal.
-
I don't know what you guys are complaining about. I know my dog likes to don a cloak and a walking stick before he leaves the house. It is a perfectly normal thing for an animal to do.

If they had just simply said Farrah is a gigantic pain and production refuses to work with her... no one would have blinked an eye. Instead, they had to take moral stance against the porn tape, while they filmed other teen moms do horrible things. They made themselves look like even bigger hypocrites when theybacktracked by bringing her back.
-
Ouch... those ratings were bad. I would like another season, but it does not look like that is likely with those numbers. Also, it does I hate the way so many viewers bailed, but I really can not blame them. Lee Pace is an excellent actor, but the writing failed him miserably. They wanted to make him a fascinating mysterious character (eighties Don Draper), but in the end he was nothing but a rich kid having a temper tantrum. He looked positively dorky when he was doing things like fighting a hurricane with flashlights. This show should is kind of hitting it's stride and I do think there is potential. However, if there is a third season, I would not be surprised if Lee Pace bailed to focus on his fairly successful acting career. It also does not help that there is no critical buzz to keep it afloat.

If she did graduate, I have no idea why she did not post it somewhere on social media. I hate to be disgusting but some these girls can not have a healthy bm without posting it somewhere online. It would definitely be brought up and filmed for the next season. I am also afraid the next season will focus around Maci's wedding and how she now has a dream life despite being a teenage mother. I have always felt she show desperately wanted to paint Maci as their inspirational success story. I can see the finale being a big wedding where all the teen moms (with maybe the exception of Farrah) are invited. We will see flashbacks to Maci's original 16 and Pregnant episode as she narrates what a "difficult journey" it has been and how proud of herself she is for working hard and succeeding. She will finally get to wear the wedding dress she has wanted ever since "Riiiine" flaked on her and she called of the engagement. Bentley will be an adorable ring bearer and Jayde, the flower girl. There will be a spread done in In Touch magazine with Maci on the cover that says "Maci is getting married!". What she will not tell you is that she did not work at all...she had money pouring in from the show and various gigs around the show. She took a PHd time period to finish a relatively short degree/certificate program. She will also not mention that the only reason Taylor is even with her is to benefit from the perks of her fame and fortune (he practically admitted as much). Look, I do not have a problem with Maci enjoying the fruits of being a reality show celebrity. I do have a problem with a teenage girl watching the show and thinking she can have Maci's life, so having a kid at sixteen is not a big deal. The show needs to get away from the "Maci Myth" and project the reality (ha ha) of what is truly going on. It is particularly true since the show insists that it is an educational program that has helped reduce teen pregnancy and not a trashy reality show that exploits it's young participants.

I know...after discussing it on this board, I was totally paying attention to Toby Huss's height. He honestly seems tiny compared to most of the people on the show. He is also very small boned which probably adds to his diminutive appearance. I know most people on this show are giants, but I am going to guess he is not a particularly big guy( not that it matters). Speaking of diminutive...the height difference between Joe and his wife is also quite striking. I am beginning to think the source of Gordon's problems are not his brain damage, but his beard. The more beard Gordo has, the odder he acts. I do not know if he is fantasizing about Jules because of his guilt or illness (though it could be both). Donna always seems to get the short end of the stick personally and professionally. I hope this season (series?) ends with a solid win for her.
-
It's hilarious because that is exactly what Dona was trying to tell Gordon. Of course Gordon is ill, so that could be the explanation for his totally off the wall actions. I felt sorry for Gordon's friend. He did the right thing by calling the cops and now he feels bad about poor sick Gordon. I love the way Cameron cam to the realization that Community is the real reason Mutiny is still in business and not her tired sad little game (the only one she has managed to put out in fifteen months). Of course, this is the precise reason she turned down a buyout that would have been good for her company and her employees. Those grand total of five gamers that came to the picnic are going to bail as soon as Nintendo comes out the next year, unless she truly creates something spectacular. As soon as they talked about copy protected their code, I knew some sort of piracy or theft was going to happen. I heard that sharing things for free was a big part of the computer community and people were actually affronted when Bill Gates wanted to charge for information. I have no idea if that is true and I am certainly not very knowledgeable about that world when compared to many people on this board. So, I will leave it to you good people to correct me on that point. I hope the new company actually comes in and actually tries to hire Donna and Bos. Cameron had really been under appreciating both horribly. I hope some time in the future Donna is made aware that Cameron turned down the deal not because it was for the good of the company, but because she did not want the focus to go to community. I really would like this show to get a third season. However, I know this is unlikely as Mutiny has more games then this show has viewers.
-
I think Cameron's vision for her company is an extended version of her own ego. She is the best coder ever (Joe said so and Bos gave up everything to go to jail for her) and the company will always be cutting edge coding to her. This is not reflected in community. I also wonder where are all the amazing games a coder with her knowledge should be putting out? We found out Parralax is lame after chapter 13 and everything else is pedestrian at best. Despite all her obnoxiousness the actress still makes me like Cameron. I would just like her to take responsibility for her own actions and realize she can not be "too punk rock for you" forever. I also really hope that there is not a last minute hail mary that makes Mutiny a billion dollar company and show us that Cameron was right not to take the deal. I find it interesting that despite all there wealth Gordon and Donna have not yet moved to a Mcmansion. The eighties were the "greed is good decade" but it seems people had much more simple tastes back then.

I am disappointed we do not have awesome Allison (I think that was her name) from the first season instead of Honora. She was the one who could weave these intricate mats and had a great attitude, while her red headed cast mate was down with a severe sunburn.

Your Hosts John & Zack: Framing the discussion
qtpye replied to David T. Cole's topic in Tiny House Nation [V]
i also think that I like Zach because he walks the walk. He lives in a tiny home and is very knowledgeable about what works. Does Jon live Tiny? What background does he have to be lecturing people about how to pare down?
