I’ve seen the first two episodes. I didn’t like Paula’s two-toned cabinets. The bright green was a hard no from me. Her man adores her - that was nice to see. Paula had a great reaction to her new hair. I was like “you can say ‘shit,’ girl!” Nicole’s story was INSANE. Her abusive husband of 30 years just up and left for the Philippines one day and left behind a side chick/second “wife” (I assume that wasn’t legal since he was already married, though the side chick surely thought it was) of EIGHT YEARS who thought she was the only one. Nicole was clearly still in a lot of pain, and I don’t blame her. I loved when she told Tan she’d never felt more beautiful. She looked great in those shorts!

I wonder if they’ll address her being the only Black girl in that sorority. Though the show seems to have dropped the sorority.

I often work out twice a day during the work week, particularly in good weather. Strength training in the morning, cardio in the evening (outdoors if it’s nice). A man would have grounds to complain about not seeing me enough during peak cycling season.

She won’t. I think she’s savvy enough to know how it would look. She also has a white parent, which complicates the dynamic. But that’s what she means when she talks about swag, R&B, etc. And I agree that she’s too old to be concerned about who they were in high school. As a Black woman, I disagree. You can quantify it this (oversimplified) way: the dominant demographic in America is white men. Black men can lean on maleness to align more with the dominant demographic; white women can lean on whiteness to align more with the dominant demographic. Black women can do neither. Not at all. She’s driven but that’s not the same thing. I didn’t love the way her cousin was grilling Ikechi at the wedding but I did like how he implied that Ikechi talks a lot but doesn’t say much.

The other was her friend who was like, “He’s a good guy and he’s going to give up if you don’t start being nice to him.” For me it’s not that she’s not into him, it’s that she’s mean about it. Great city. I could live there if it weren’t for the winters. Summers there are amazing but short, and winters are brutal. History, culture, great food, diversity. I highly recommend it. Camille is stopping just short of telling Tom he’s not Black enough for her, which is not a conversation I’d entertain. If there are 40M Black people in the country, there are 40M ways to be Black. I’m into fitness and working out but the class Madison took Allen to looked weird. It seems like a really limited activity.

“STEM” isn’t a major, it’s an acronym. Is Whitney majoring in electrical engineering? Applied math? Chemistry? Comp sci?

I think last episode she said Loretta and her dad married five months after her mother died, which is really fast - like “were they having an affair?” fast. I’d feel some type of way too, frankly, although I wouldn’t act out that way. I knew the scratch was on the baby’s head already. I had a coworker whose baby rolled off the couch. My coworker was rattled (new mom); every other parent was like “Meh, it happens.”
