Agreed. In one of the earlier seasons of America’s Next Top Model they gave a contestant a lot of (necessary; she’d grown up poor with limited access to dental care and her teeth were crooked. She’d trained herself to smile with her mouth closed) dental work as part of her makeover. I had braces as a kid so I knew even that young that they’d spent a ton of money on her, so I assumed she’d win - it was an investment. I was shocked when she didn’t (I think she was the runner up). This show isn’t investing in its contestants like that - it’s not that kind of show. They file your existing teeth down to nubs and glue on the veneers over the nubs. I had a dentist try to upsell me on them and I refused and immediately stopped seeing him. If you get $50 veneers from someone other than a dentist (a “veneer technician” is not a thing), God help you. That doesn’t mean they were raised the same. My friend and her husband are both Korean American but were raised very differently - she’s bilingual, her husband isn’t. Camille described Tom as “suburban,” and she hoped to see more of an “R&B influence,” which is clunky but I know what she meant. This show is much too long. I’ll finish it when I’m doing holiday prep work later.

Yeah, I think I saw that he used to be a bodybuilder or do fitness competitions and those require eating in a really restrictive, specific way, so if he’s eating more normally now, he looks … normal. I remember reading what Rob McIlnenney did to get in his famously best shape on It’s Always Sunny, and it was miserable (and he framed it as such). Allen is thinner than David but David looks to be in better shape - more muscle definition and I would guess he’s stronger. Like putting them next to each other, I would assume David works out and Allen doesn’t.
