  1. Jill posts this sort of stuff all the time. It's not the first time she's asked people to pray for her to be pregnant again. She is now 43+ years old. Michelle Duggar was 43 when Josie was born and she conceived again pretty soon afterwards only to have a fetal demise. Then, the pipeline shut down forever. The rate of fertility declines even more sharply after the age of 40. The overall fertility rate for women in Jill's age group actively trying is 17% per year. So, she's had roughly a 53% chance of getting pregnant over that time and hasn't done so. She hasn't even had another 'severe' miscarriage. Meanwhile, we know that about half of all women her age are no longer fertile. Since we're talking percentages, that means it is very likely that she is now in the 50+% of women her age who are infertile. Thank you, Jesus!
  2. I am so sad to hear this, but it sounds like the two of you are incompatible. I pray he finds a home with someone who is able to work with him and train him. Buddy was a tough act to follow and Mo came along so soon afterwards. Maybe you just need a break from dog ownership. Please do not beat the dog for entering the house. He has been sleeping in your bed for months, he is not going to understand why you have decided to banish him. If I lived closer, I'd take him or find someone who could.
  3. I believe the romance ended because he relocated from NYC to LA to do films. They met as young theater actors in NYC. So, they weren't a couple anymore by the time he died.
  4. Liz also rather famously was James Dean's girlfriend/lover back when they were both struggling actors in NYC. She talked about him quite often.

Nope, the Great Lakes Shakespeare festival was his first acting gig while he was in college. He earned his Actor's Equity card here. Years ago, he did a fundraiser for them and spoke about falling in love with the Indians those summers because he and his friends could go to day games and sit in the bleachers in old Municipal Stadium for just a couple bucks and it was so empty that they could actually lie down on the benches to watch the game. A few years ago, some of the alums from the GLSF of his era held a reunion in Cleveland. He came and they all attended an Indians' game. He also hosted an evening of pizza and beer at his favorite pizza place in Lakewood. A friend's kid worked there and he treated the entire staff wonderfully, posing for dozens of selfies and leaving a very large tip. I've got a share of season tickets and, as always, the crowd was delighted to see our friend, Tom throw out the first pitch. Tom loves Cleveland and we love him. Hanks also did the voiceover on the announcement last year of the name change.
  6. The maker of at least one of the videos that Josh had downloaded has indeed been caught and is serving a life sentence. The police were able to identify a couple of the kids and they have given statements as to what happened to them. The film in question first appeared online around 2010; so the kids who were in it are old enough to give statements about what they remember. I expect that they did give statements leading to the conviction of the film maker and those are used in other cases since it is the downloading of that particular video that is the crime; that they were indeed children and were harmed by the filming is proof enough that the video was illegal.
  7. I think that the Y requires its employees to wear shirts in the pool is so that they can be easily identified by kids and parents. They all wear the same color with a logo on it so they can be found easily in an emergency. It's a safety thing, not a sexual thing.
  8. Looked at it myself, and it IS weird, unless the kids have run off someplace and they're waiting for them to come back. No need for Elijah and Madison, though. I guess Madison with be matron of honor and Elijah will be a groomsman, but it doesn't make sense that the other kids aren't there. I noticed that Madison and Elijah and the twins are standing apart from the rest, so maybe its a COVID thing, trying to limit exposure for the kids. Wonder if Randall's kids are coming to the wedding at all?
  9. It's a TV thing, not real life. In real life, things like biopsies to rule out cancer take days to come back, it would be extremely rare to get a result the next day. That's because, even the big medical centers have only so many pathologists and often those pathologists have specialties within the group. There are only so many slides they can review in a day. In a case like Gary's, where they're looking for recurrent breast cancer, they are going to be very careful and look at the whole specimen. They may even do some special stains or tests looking for DNA related to his cancer. In addition, it will often be double-checked by a second pathologist, just to be sure. I am a practitioner at one of the major medical centers in the country. Even the oncologists here tell their patients it will be a week before results will be back. It is often sooner, but better to have folks be pleasantly surprised when it takes less time than expected. Also, in real life, a biopsy such as Gary had would either be done in the doctor's office under local or in an outpatient surgery center. He would've been released maybe an hour after it was done and he wouldn't have been in a regular hospital room at all. Maggie proves once again that she is an idiot. The woman has had multiple biopsies herself. She hung around the hospital waiting for the results? Gary's doctor is sitting in the doctor's lounge just waiting on the results so he can run and tell Gary? Of course not, life goes on, even in a hospital. Gary would be sent home to wait for his results because he is otherwise taking up space that another patient can fill. His doctor is continuing on his busy workday and will review the results himself and then notify Gary personally. He probably has other procedures, patient in the office, lab work to assess and other patients to call with results; he cannot sit and wait for one result to come in. Yes, I expect it will turn out that Greta is off her meds and delusional and, no doubt, there will be some sort of Fatal Attraction scenario involving Katherine. Not because this happens all the time with bipolar people, but because this is the level of the writing on this show. Extra points if Eddie has to save Katherine from Crazy Greta and ends up jumping out of his chair and miraculously being able to walk in order to do it.
  10. I presume she means that Kate has always felt that no one could ever measure up to her father. Or maybe the Big 3 thought that. Had Kate actually had a Pearson-style monologue where she actually 'went off on him' and told him she 'would't allow' Toby to express the notion that Kate's relationship with her father was a factor in the failure of their marriage; I, for one, would've wanted to 'go off' on Kate. It just would've been more of what we'd already gotten; Kate's absolute refusal to take any responsibility for the failure of her marriage. I understand that, after 6 years, Chrissy feels bonded to Kate, but I think she's absolutely wrong here.
  11. There are very few illnesses that can be diagnosed from a simple random bloodtest. Someone has to take the patient's history, symptoms, family history, etc into account before ordering the test and then, once the result is back, put it into the framework of that individual patient and their situation in order to determine the next best step. There are many blood assays that cost hundreds of dollars apiece to perform. Having patients order from a menu like MacDonald's is not going to be cost effective at all and our healthcare system is already faltering at the high cost of care. Having people order their own bloodwork based on their own agenda is not good medicine.
  12. There are different levels of obesity and death rates are linked to the amount that an individual is overweight. Usually, BMI is the method of determining obesity and a BMI over 30 puts one in the category of obese. Over 40 is morbidly obese. While it is true that mildly obese (BMI under 35) individuals do not seem to have an increased rate of mortality compared to people who are not obese; people with a BMI over 40 have an average life expectancy of 10 years less than their normal weight peers. As an example, for a woman who is 5'6", her BMI is going to be 40 at around 240 lbs. I do not know what Kate weighs, but it is clearly much more than 240 lbs, probably well over 300 lbs. Her life expectancy is definitely significantly reduced at that weight. I would guess her BMI is around 60 at this point. The CDC has a lot of information on this topic on their web site. That may be, but we've just finished 3 episodes almost solely devoted to the breakup of the 4 year marriage of Kate and Toby with more romantic adventures of Kate to follow. Rebecca and Miguel have been together more than a decade, have known each other for more than 40 years. I'd much rather we had one episode of Kate and Toby and 3 of Rebecca and Miguel.
  13. They not only renew their friendship, but become so close that Sophie and her husband fly across the country to attend Kate's engagement party. Because Kate is such a wonderful friend.
  14. It was like they took original Philip and replaced him with a pod-person. I presume that that was exactly the reason; so that no one watching would ever think that darling, perfect Kate would ever have eyes for another man while she was still married to Toby. There was absolutely no reason to have Philip appear at all in previous episodes, a quick scene in this one to set them up as colleagues at the school would've been plenty and he could offer to take her for a drink to 'celebrate' her divorce. As far as Kate getting together with Gregory: Tim Omundson who plays him is 52 which I expect TPTB feel is too old for Kate who they seemingly want to present as highly desirable and attractive, allowing her to hook up with cute guys in her age group. Gregory is too old and not hot enough, I suspect. Tim Omundson also really did have a stroke and isn't acting when we see Gregory's physical limitations and he might not have wanted to commit to more than we've already seen. Would've been nice to get a glimpse of him at Kate's fancy engagement party and/or the wedding, but I'm not holding my breath. Why would that be Toby's responsibility? Kate knows there are schools for the blind in SF, she can google it. On her one short visit to SF, she made it clear she wasn't interested in moving there, she barely tolerated meeting his work friends and was upset that he showed her a potential home for them, why would Toby having information about schools for the blind make any difference at all. The biggest mistake Toby made was the one he owned up to: he was not Jack Pearson. We haven't seen or heard that there is any contact between Hailey's birth mother and the Damons, so why does it matter if they live near her? Is it even an open adoption? Rebecca and Miguel are moving to PA as soon as the house is finished there, which should be a matter of months. Meanwhile, Toby found a house in SF with an in-law suite which would make it simple for them to visit as often as they liked. The reason Kate wanted to stay in LA is because she doesn't like change and she has been lead to believe since childhood that she deserves to get everything she wants, no matter what. Say what? I agree that he hated his new job, but it gave him more time with his kids and we have NEVER seen any evidence that he is a bad parent. We saw that he left the new job at 5 on the dot to get home (at least in part because the job sucked, but whatever) and he did it so he didn't have to travel back and forth to SF anymore. Seems to me Toby did his best to parent his kids and to do it in the way that Kate wanted, which is why he took the lesser job in LA.
  15. Maybe Kate and Phillip flew to PA ahead of the kids because of school/Rebecca's condition, whatever and Toby then flew from CA with the kids to bring them to see their grandmother one last time and that is why he was in PA. It might also explain why he asked if 'she' really wanted him there, since he had come for the kids, not to see Rebecca specifically. I don't think Rebecca left a list, more that, in the moment, Randall, Kate and Kevin felt that Toby should be there. We've seen that Rebecca is quite fond of Toby.
  16. Didn't the showrunner insist that this episode shows us how hard Kate and Toby work to try to save their marriage? By repeatedly showing up late for counseling? I am sure that there is plenty of opportunity for Kate to talk to Jack's teacher at other times, doesn't she work at his school? The 'I needed to talk to Jack's teacher for 20 minutes instead of being on time for my appointment' excuse is BS. I don't know how we can watch that scene and believe that Kate has any interest whatsoever in trying to save the marriage. ETA: Is PMJ Jack's teacher? Are we somehow supposed to realize that he is Kate's OTL because she blows off marriage counseling to chat with him instead?
  17. If anyone speaks, I expect it will be Anna telling the court about what a marvelous father FF is, how he dotes on the children, how they need his presence, how much they love him. In other words, lying through her teeth.
  18. It also doesn't make sense that Randall is the one to call Toby and ask him to come if he's got a cordial relationship with Kate. Even if they've been divorced for years, they're still raising kids together and they have to have regular contact to do that. Randall lives thousands of miles away, it doesn't seem like he'd be the one to call Toby and tell him to come unless Kate is either not available or not on good terms with Toby.
  19. But, as one of those who had some exposure to nuns and their POV back in the 60's, it is anomalous that not a single nun objects to having Nancy living with them or thinks her daughter would be better off if she was adopted by a married couple. It wasn't just nuns who were close minded about this stuff back in the '60's. Like a lot of shows set in a different era, there is an anachronistic POV. For that matter, even when we've seen Lucille and Cyril subjected to subtle or not so subtle racism; it is a bit much to think that all of the 'good guys' of the main cast are equally comfortable calling it out or that some of them don't have some veiled prejudices themselves. Back in the '60's, fewer than 10% of kids were raised in single parent homes and most of those were due to divorce or death. Very few single mothers raised their children on their own.
  20. It's kind of a Scandinavian thing as I recall. It is not unusual to see an infant sleeping in a buggy outside while the parents are inside a restaurant having lunch or in a store shopping. If the kiddo wakes up and starts to fuss, a passerby will come inside and tell the parent(s). Very civilized people, Scandinavians.
  21. And, with this post, you prove that you know more than Elizabeth Holmes about lab technology.
  22. Yep, because we know Beth wants Toblerone there.
  23. Yeah, I really don't see the chemistry between them, nor why they'd want to give it another try at this point. Makes no sense to me.
  24. Yes, I am not seeing what is so incredibly special about Sophie that Kevin is beneath her and needs to work to get her. They married very young and he wasn't a good husband. He had a substance abuse problem and has addressed it. Are we supposed to think that Sophie has lived a life of total perfection and virtue to this point? If either one of them thinks that she is so clearly superior to him, any relationship is doomed.
  25. Yes, Kate undoubtedly feels that Kevin will pay her bills if she cannot. He's done it before, she has no reason to think he won't do it forever.
