  1. Exactly, and I bet it’s just a coincidence that the spat is building towards the season finale. Yeah this show features people quibbling over every last thousand. Not really a good look for humanity. Like the lighting fixtures. What was the seller going to do, rip them out after sale unless the buyers paid more after paying almost $7 million? Why even show the property with them if they’re not included? What would she have done with them if the buyer was unwilling to pay extra for them? KJ got a good deal, $108k commission on $300k of 1-year lease. That’s way more than 1/3! No wonder Manhattan rents are ridiculous, you get parasites taking 1/3. Plus the building must have absurd maintenance fees and property taxes. I thought the discussion about her own team was interesting. Her brokerage firm would give her a bigger piece of the commission but if her team gets larger, she’d have to pay them more which comes out of her share. They would have administrative staff who are on salary and would expect annual raises, maybe bonuses if team does well in a given year. But a lot of these people would be considered rent-seekers, do just enough to make sales then collect commissions and fees, some of them ongoing. It’s great when the market is Ho or is a bubble. So many brokers often see their annual income fluctuate but maybe not with top brokers like Frederick and Ryan. However they have to pay a lot of people who work for them, yet Frederick drives a Bentley and Ryan is driven around in a luxury SUV. They must believe the show helps their businesses, gets them more social media and so on. But are rich buyers, sellers and developers influenced by the show? You’d think they’re generally more educated and sophisticate about how scripted the show is, not necessarily be more inclined to hire the brokers on the show just because they’re on TV.
  2. yeah he mixed up complaints about social media and general online behavior and put it on the phone. Yes a lot of people do social media mostly on the phone but nobody is getting rid of phones or computers or the Internet. So old man telling kids to get off his lawn stuff. Whatever, don’t get it then. The vaccines were designed for the virus train that infected China in late 2019, early 2020. Current dominat strain is different, much more infectious, probably more virulent. Those navy sailors, only one died? That was last year. More would have died and more would have Long Covid. But the key is, more would be spreading it to others, including more vulnerable people. He talks about people being selfish like Breyer or Feinstein not retiring or people with phones, but his attitude is, I’m slim and I did you a favor getting vaccinated. he probably has good antibody levels since he got infected after vaccination. So maybe he’d be okay without booster for longer. But it’s the attitude. in the monologue he complained that the studio audience had to be masked. Then said there was competition between people who clapped at his jokes and those who groaned at them. Wants the clappers to shut down the groaners or something like that. Now who’s the biatch who wants likes?
  3. So Mike has a T-shirt and protein supplement businesses to add to his TV money. Maybe Jenni does too. They're trying to leverage the show to get social media followers and fans to buy this stuff. I wonder if Pauly lost gigs during the pandemic. Vinny must no longer do the stripping but I don't know if that was only for TV. In any event he was shopping homes in LA and Ronnie got a big pad so the TV money must at least give them a good enough living. The side gigs though can't be that sustainable.
  4. I heard Andy Greenwald and Chris Ryan refer in The Watch podcast to the finale drawing huge ratings and critical raves. OK, happy for them getting big ratings but the critical raves, I don't get. Mike White put this together fast and they pretty much shot the first draft and the goal was to get it on the air as soon as they can, because there was a hole in the HBO schedule. It shows, like they rushed it on telling the motivations of some of these characters, like Rachel, why would she be drawn to Shane and why would she stay with him? That story could have been better told and if they had more time, maybe add a couple more episodes, they might have been able to tell some backstories of the characters. It was fine to watch and I'll probably watch future seasons but it's not the first thing I'll be waiting for on HBO or other channels. At least it bought them time to get Succession season 3 finished and ready for the "fall."
  5. They could have filmed in Europe and Africa now. But not in Asia at all. So unless they changed their itinerary they can't complete the season. Plus the racers, production staff and crews may not all be vaccinated, so those people would have problems entering some countries. Other shows have filmed in countries which make accommodations for them. So Croatia has been used by several shows in the past year. Unless they plan to make it TAR Croatia, I guess they're stuck.
  6. It does look nice there but it's at the end of a peninsula which is over 1000 miles long? There must be an airport and maybe ferry services from the mainland? I recall there were Cabo episodes with Californians driving there. That's crazy to do that maybe more than once a year. As for the properties they were meh to me. The second one was best but I can understand the concerns about the cost to furnish and then dealing with construction for years. Their budget was modest so I think previous Cabo episodes featured people who spent more and were closer to the water.
  7. I should remember to watch the after show on Youtube. Maybe they will dish there. I can't bring myself to listen to the podcasts.
  8. Ramadan or not, eating challenge is Fessy's kryptonite. He refused to eat one bit.
  9. I would guess that they retrofitted a bathroom up there. You often see them make a bathroom in the corner of a room. They put up walls and then make a shower that is just big enough for you to barely turn around without touch the walls or the curtain. Or they can install one of those all-in-one units with glass or plastic doors. But maybe they are intending the bathroom to be only used by the occupants of that room up there, which you had to reach by stooping to climb up and down that ladder (more apt than calling it stairs). So maybe they figured it wasn't worth reducing the size of the space by putting up walls. But we've seen it before, sinks or toilets or showers in a bedroom with no walls or not even a room divider.
  10. I hope they took advantage of the liberalization of travel restrictions this spring and summer to do some filming for season 2 already.
  11. Ooh, I'd have a lot of respect for the producers if they did that. Well respect for their troll game.
  12. I think Fessy has been able to stick around by causing drama, whether going after some women for poli-dicking or trash-talking other guys like CT last season. There have been some other rookies in recent years who were big athletic guys, including a couple of Brits who no longer seem to be invited anymore. But those guys were laid back and so maybe MTV decided they weren't colorful or had big enough personalities. So that may be what happens to Kelz, unless he comes back and starts making waves, getting more screen time. They've introduced so many people in recent seasons that I can't keep their names straight. There was that one Brit who was hooking up with that racist Australian-Chinese girl one season and conspired to get her voted into the elimination. He came back and won or made the Finals I think? But they haven't had him back since, even though he was a good villain. Fessy generates a lot of drama with others talking about him. I guess Josh is in that category as well, creates drama, gets a lot of others talking about him. Easy way to get air time. This messiness with Nelson and the two women, that may keep Nelson returning to future seasons.
  13. I think daily challenge was good. Definitely some teams outperformed others with Esther throwing fastballs on the money. Cory blundered by being on the helicopter rather than the car. Elimination was good, picking up the pieces was where the game was won and lost and the one female kept dropping the pieces. Yeah epic takedown of Josh by Kelz. Too bad but I think some of the rookies saw him as a threat because of his size and athleticism. So it’s going to be more whittle down of the rookies for awhile, since some rookies see other rookies as their biggest threat, even though the vet alliance is going after every rookie. And rookies who win elimination are always going to pick vets to avoid being the house vote. But vets are dividing and conquering, though wild cards like Ashley may lead to the breakup of that alliance.
  14. They must not have been able to find a good third place because it was like 35 minutes each way by bike for the girls? So they eliminated it right away. Yeah it really was a lovely home, though the canal home had better kitchen and bigger yard. Momma wanted her cafes and shops more than yard for the dog or extra money from lower rent.
  15. Interesting that she said they don't have plans right now to return. But they only went in January! So that was kind of at the winter peak of covid. And the first four months they were in temporary housing without al their stuff. So now they're probably got their belongings set up in that apartment for only a couple of months. Of course it's great now that it's summer over there. But the timeline would mean that HHI filmed them a few months ago and then edited it and got it on the air?
  16. If Sandy really wanted to see what happened she could see the footage. That's assuming she would really have a say on whether Lexi stayed or not. Hell the producers could fire her, based on her getting physical with other cast mates. Reality shows used to have that standard, get physical, get booted. Then they decided to go all Jerry Springer.
  17. Only seen parts of it. The first episode they had old film and the visuals weren't that captivating. But I saw a later episode, filmed more recently for the series and it fills the screen in HD. These huge, cliff-like waves bearing down on surfer is visually arresting. I Googled Nazare Portugal and some of the images are stunning, you have that viewing platform on top of a cliff and it looks like waves are about to crash down upon it. But that viewing platform is like 30-40 feet or more above the beach or sea level so it's probably an optical illusion.
  18. Yeah that seems to be Angelina's schtik on the show, going after one of the girls and flirting with Vinnie.
  19. They said the place they chose was best for their kids but the first place is probably better. Neither of the parents liked the location though, he’d probably have to take public transportation while she’d need a car to get anywhere. She mentioned her career but it looked like she was going to be a stay at home mother for years until the boys grew up. They may have to move back to US if she is going to resume her career so maybe this move is to advance his career with a temporary overseas posting.
  20. Just came across this, wasn’t sure what to make of it. Was it satire? No, it’s a documentary series about a news station in a small town called Pahrump, NV, near Vegas. The episode I watched was called Erectile Dysfunction but in fact takes place on Election Day and a few days beyond. The anchor persons and the reporters out on the streets are older women. A group of Biden supporters won’t do interviews with the station and Vern, the owner of the station, offers to buy them a flag. Vern is a hardcore Trump supporter and the town is conservative. He says Biden seems like an okay guy but he’d destroy his business, kill ad sales and he’d have to lay people off and shut down. On election night, their election coverage consists of Vern looking at his lap top on Bing and predicting Trump would win. The commercials they run are funny. First, Verns ambition is to tap into viewers in the Las Vegas market. So he advertises that spots on his station are just $5 each. One commercial is for Big Dick’s Pizza and they say “when was the last time you had a Big Dick in your mouth?” ☺️ when Biden is declared the winner, Vernon is morose. Then he gets a call from a viewer in Vegas who wants to buy an ad and he’s all chipper. He points at self-improvement materials from Tony Robbins and a couple of others, says he’s not a quitter. So presumably there are no layoffs.
  21. So they have the biggest suite in a 5-star resort. When they ask for room service to bring them pineapples, they don't cut it already and slice it for them? The pineapple knife contrivance, well I don't know why they needed any corpse. I guess other than a good way to hook people in from the first episode to watch until the end.
  22. So is it worth it? In particular, for people who've never watched The Good Wife?
  23. Rachel was literally skeeved out as Shane pawed at her. If she didn't jump out of bed, he'd have grabbed her and satisfy himself. Earlier he told her he can't wait to fuck her in Tahiti. OK, Belinda refused to give her advice, after giving her her card and inviting her to call her. Then in her own room, she called someone. Earlier she tried to talk to her mom, who was too busy to talk at that time. So Rachel made her own call? Promised Shane she will be happy, even when Shane gropes her some more. She'd rather sleep with someone whom she despised, at least when she called him a man-child, than be poor? Can either of them take back what they'd said to each other? Maybe her exit plan is to endure him touching her for enough years to get a tidy payout on the prenup and GTFO.
  24. Maybe the JMP swimwear is taking off!!! So she don't need a sugar daddy! Or maybe she didn't want to keep up a showmance in between seasons? She's just not that into nice guys with money? Maybe someone like Alex is more her speed?
  25. Thing about that first house in Australia is that it's far from the ocean for her and also looked like there weren't many or any restaurants or shops out there. They didn't mention if it was near a town, just called it the hinterlands. Well the house was surrounded by woods, not even other homes, IIRC.
