  1. They probably let them slide if they are too drunk to show up to work on time or do good work while hung over. Could be dangerous on the deck. Really the true employers of the cast are the ones filming and watching the dailies. Normal employers might have a problem with seeing their employees get loaded the night before they're suppose to work. Whatever happened to one of these BD crews being told that they have to represent the yacht positively when they're out in public? When they're having a loud hot tub party while the ship is docked at port, do people on other ships or at restaurants near the port see and hear them?
  2. So they gave the crew an extra day off, so that they can have more meals together and do more things where they can be constantly drinking and more likely to get into arguments and fights. Well what do you know, Mat and Lexi taking potshots at each other over both days and it's looking to escalate. Mzi says alcohol helps when he's anxious about making a move on Courtney or something like that? But Courtney likes to flirt even though she's clearly put Mzi in the friend zone. They seemed kind of into it when they went out for the first night, maybe excited to get extra time off. The hot tub still feels forced but David was trying to hook up with Delaney. Second day, waterfalls and more drinking, now a cliffhanger on whether Lexi goes off. Sure Mat was egging her on both days but she isn't going to ignore him, despite how low of an opinion she has of him. She skipped the hot tub but the Waterfalls trip may still bring out the monster. I thought all the previews showing Delaney might indicate she stays the rest of the season, which is 2 more charters or about 2 weeks. But this episode seem to cover all of the previews showing her. So I don't think we're going to see Lexi leave and Delaney staying.
  3. Some early reviews have started appearing, kind of lukewarm on it. Good acting but it pales compared to the original, seems to be the sentiment. One thing of note, all 5 episodes were directed by Hagai Levi, the Israeli director who created the original show on which Showtime's The Affair is based.
  4. Wow it’s tough to hear about Damian Lewis losing his wife. I just saw the trailer, several in the cast look visibly older. Understandable for Damian. Giamatti looks gaunt and his eyes seem much bigger on his thinner, smaller face and head. The guy who plays Chuck Rhoads Sr. Also looks a lot older. Prince needs to lose that beard. Pandemic really did a number on this cast but other shows with older cast are probably going to have the same problems.
  5. They usually don't have kids going with the parents. They might have them look at pictures afterwards or they ask for a pool or something. I don't know why they chose to have this kid participate. Again, the producers may have been babysitting her while the father FaceTimed with her. For whatever reason they thought it was a good idea to get her comments and put them on the air? They could have edited them out. Maybe she's good at repeating the scripted talking points that producers want the hunters to emphasize.
  6. Eh the finale was all about the running through the wall stunt. Again producer-driven. Wife didn't want it but Mike is going to dutifully go along with it. Rest of cast was mocking the gender reveal. From the way everyone overreacted to Angelina shooting Chris in the face, that probably was scripted too. They kept repeating "she shot her husband in the face!" and "worst EMT ever!" Only funny comments at the end were about how she has to give him sex for shooting him. So looks like they started shooting the next season, with clips of their antics to come as the final montage of the episode.
  7. That pipsqueak voice, made even more high-pitched by FaceTime. I mean if her input was so expensive, why didn't they drag her to the homes? Where was she while she was FaceTiming them? Probably with some HHI producers so it was a TV stunt. Still wonder what kind of jobs you can have in what appears to be mostly a vacation resort. The other recent Noosa episode with the nurse, she got a job at a hospital there but are there big accounting firms there as well?
  8. Stars Jeff Daniels and Maura Tierney. Early reviewers have panned it. You wouldn’t think Showtime tried to copy Mare of Easttown, which takes place is SE PA, because this show would have to have been in development for a couple of years and Mare was out just within the past year. But not sure people in a small Rust Belt town would necessarily be that compelling. Most people with talent and ambition would have left such towns and the people remaining would be struggling economically as well as dealing with rampant opioid abuse and all the attendant problems of high unemployment and grim prospects. So one particular murder might not stand out. This isn’t Twin Peaks. Daniels and Tierney are attractive performers, usually deserving of an audience. Even at their ages, probably too glamorous for small Rust Belt town, so not believable. Their characters will likely be too smart and ambitious to be relegated to a small town, which may be suffering from small-mindedness.
  9. I don’t think White Lotus is worth ALL of the raves it’s been getting. But it’s a world always from Love Boat or Fantasy Island in terms of script, acting, direction quality.
  10. I would think Amber would be one of the women in demand if they pair male-female for the Final. Other women may want to get her eliminated because she’s going to dominate any endurance portion of the Final. So either put her in some strength/weight elimination against a bigger woman or maybe see if she has to deal with puzzles.
  11. Katie has run super yacht interiors, with larger number of stews reporting to her than on BDM. It's just that on this show, they give her sociopaths like Lexi. Why she chose to do this show, who knows, maybe she wanted to see if she could have a reality show career. But for all we know, she went right back to running interiors on big yachts after this season was filmed.
  12. Sydney, Australia. Couple wanted a 4-bedroom home. He mentioned starting a family but for now they get a puppy and she wants to find a job. They don't mention when it was filmed but they take two cars to view the homes and at the end, the husband is talking to parents over video chat. He says he's originally from Queensland. In Australia, even travel between the different states is locked down, very controlled. New South Wales is seeing a lot of covid cases right now so they wouldn't be allowed to visit other states or vice versa for people in other states trying to visit NSW. Yet they want big home with lots of bedrooms and big open entertaining spaces inside and outside. Manly is lovely from what I've seen but if you need to work and commute to the CBD, you have to take a ferry ride. So the idea of being too far north of Manly, so that you have to probably bus down to the ferry port, then take the ferry, maybe take another bus to reach the office, isn't covered on the show. Maybe his job was in Manly so he wouldn't have to take the ferry at all. At the end they show her walking by one of the green and yellow ferries. $1.4 million isn't bad for a roomy 4-bedroom townhouse with backyard, even if the neighbors are close. I remember my first visit to Sydney, I was walking around not too far from Bondi beach and there were for sale signs on the homes. They didn't look special from the outside. In fact they were wedged together and it wasn't too much distance from the street and sidewalk to the front doors. But these homes were $2.5-3.5 million so unless they had huge backyards, they didn't even look that spacious. They were some distance away from the CBD too so you could take a bus but it would be a long commute. However, if you walked a block or two, you'd be right on the east coast of Australia, looking out over the Tasman sea. No beaches there, you'd have to drive or take a bus to the south. I think in the last 20 years, they've had a lot of immigration from Asia so property prices were bid up. But it's a great lifestyle, you could take long hikes along stunning coastline, where they have very clean and solid boardwalks and pathways winding up and down the coast.
  13. Well if they're filming now or soon (like the fall), South Carolina is going through a lot of covid cases now. On a per-capita basis, they're in the top 10 or top 5 in various measures. But they already did their pandemic season so maybe they will pretend things are back to normal. Maybe Charleston is better than the rest of the state but you would figure low vaccination rates and low use of masks and distancing. The cast who own stores or other retail establishments would probably want things opened up. But a big part of SC and reality shows in general is filming a lot of scenes at venues like restaurants or clubs. I don't know how cold or rainy it gets in Charlestown in the fall or winter but if they're going to film at restaurants, probably better to do it sooner before the weather turns, so they can film outside.
  14. Don’t see Ronnie in that picture. Is he being dropped due to legal problems?
  15. Again, both daily challenge and elimination, they put some thought into it and came up with creative designs. Not to mention they actually had to build or implement the games, requiring more effort on the crew. Esther is under the radar, not physically imposing (though she threw fast balls at Fessy with accuracy, which allowed them to win the previous daily) but she's got good puzzle/memory skills. As for the failed BB alliance, Amber knew she was #4. And Fessy thought Kaycee was the best woman athletically, though he got mad at her for getting injured. So I don't know why they are still loyal to each other. Fessy blamed her for getting injured and she didn't want to quit but Fessy wouldn't eat. Actually that obstacle course in the elimination probably favors smaller people, with shorter arms and flexibility to climb up, over and through some of the portions. That might be one of the few elimination games where that's the case, being larger is a disadvantage. I think the vets will keep targeting rookies despite the blowup in this episode. Only Amber was the non rookie out of the 4 players in the elimination. Michele is photogenic and seems reasonably athletic. Sounds like they will have her back. Hughie is emotional but he's more athletic than he seems.
  16. Yeah there must be some other reason for moving, other than just her wanting to return to her roots. Maybe there's family that she wanted her children to know. And a lot of people may feel nostalgia for the decor and furnishings of the homes they grew up in but most wouldn't want to live in such places again. At least not on HH shows, everyone wants renovated, modern, etc. There might have also been public transport options from that modern apt. but it could eat into their budget. However, if the kids have to go to school in the city center, then it probably makes commuting impossible.
  17. Did she even mention the boutique in the follow up? Sounds like she was told to make that one of her top criteria and to repeat it over and over again. The realtor wasn't bad but it appeared in the map that this place was in SE England so it would be close to London. They should have had Richard on there rolling his eyes every time she went on about the boutique, since it's ridiculous that she needs room in the home for that. What must Nebraska be like if they don't have proper boutiques.
  18. HBO subscribers are probably well educated, affluent. I don’t know how diverse they are but HBO has certainly put on shows featuring people of color. So has Showtime. You see a huge social media following by people of color for shows like Insecure and The Chi. in this case, the original movie is about Swedish people. Can’t get whiter than that. black people might watch this show and say “black people would never do that.”
  19. The producers don’t want toxic crew members gone right away. they want them on the show for awhile to stir up drama. They didn’t get rid of Rhylee though she wanted to get into screaming matches all the time, for instance. Lexi’s hot tub meltdown was like honey to them, television gold. So they kept her around and in previews for next episode, looks like she’s going to lose it again, which they probably prayed for. she may figure it’s close to the end anyways so they probably won’t fire her and if they do no big deal. Plus she knows Delaney can’t do much on her own, though it looks like she’s in the background of one of the shots at a restaurant where she goes after Mat.
  20. It comes down to casting decisions. Why did they have Delaney, who only has deck experience, in quarantine to be the only one available to come on the yacht when they were having a problem with a particular stew? You can imagine why they chose Delaney, with her bikini pics on Instagram and her used to getting her way. She works hard but she's learning so it's not even clear if it would be much better to replace Lexi with her, because Katie or the other stew would have to tell her what to do. They apparently have an alternate chef in quarantine, to replace Mat. It wouldn't be surprising if this replacement is also going to cause some drama.
  21. Ugh they might feel pressured to bring back Bananas who’s been off for a couple of seasons.
  22. So is it typical that the crew feels some obligation to entertain guests if weather is bad? I'm talking about real charters, not this TV make-believe stuff. Would make sense, try to make sure guests have a good time, try to get a bigger tip than they otherwise would have gotten. But tips on these BD shows are dubious, since guests are obviously being cast in at least some instances. However, crew in firemen outfits (which they just happened to have on board, right?) doing lap dances on an all-women charter? Beer pong? And the female guests were all game and then some, with all the talk about swallowing. So the crew had some idea that the women would be receptive to this kind of entertainment, which may not always be the case. Remember, one of the guests brought a fat suit on board to do a lap dance for a crew member. So maybe they were cast because they were "down" for anything? How typical is it for crew to flirt with guests on real charters? Probably happens but in this one, the innuendo was pretty thick and not subtle. So we see the beginning of the rift between Sandy and Malia, who lied to Sandy to protect her crew. With firing being always a thing on BD shows, I guess this one strike would be a fireable offense or something? The guests didn't get hurt and they could have just drained the jet ski and put them back out there. Mat is pushing on Katie to get rid of the new stew -- or better yet Lexi, just so he can have his cabin back. But he may have been prompted to beat her to death with it for TV. That one guest hates the food because she didn't get a proper entree. Mat is doing family style so the different guests can pick out the stuff they want to eat, rather than make 6 different entrees every meal. With one chef, it's not like a restaurant where they could have multiple starters, main dishes, etc. She mentioned Michelin restaurants. Is that really the expectation, even on supposedly expensive super yacht charters? Sure real billionaires can hire personal chefs to make whatever for them. But for these TV make-believe guests?
  23. The switching of partners at least give some rookies a chance, by picking a vet, making them less likely to be voted into elimination if they stayed on all-rookie teams. It will get interesting if a vet or two finally goes down to elimination this season. Sure the old vets probably would prefer to stick to other vet partners, not be subject to being forced to pair with rookies. Makes it a lot easier to whittle down the rookies out of the game quickly. TJ seems not on board with the first couple of eliminations only being rookies so maybe the producers decided to let them pick partners and the Agency to pick ANY two players, not just teams, for the Lair.
