  1. Yeah he was alluding to woke/cancel culture, as he would call it. But he's not making jokes about supposedly the intolerant progressives so much as ranting at them.
  2. Does she think she has to live up to her Snookie rep? But she hasn't really been on the show much and she seems to be trying to do another show instead. She shows up and starts drinking nonstop. Maybe instead of a few glasses of wine, she figures the show is paying for it so she partakes way more than she would at home, where her husband may object if she drank like this.
  3. Yeah that copper was opaque, not shiny, kind of stood out with that bright red/orange hue. Will it look like avocado refrigerators? Wouldn't be surprised if some buyer demanded that the developer swap those out as a condition of the deal. BTW, one of the properties had a sub-zero wine fridge? Is that a brand name or do people really keep wine that cold? I can see it for sparkling wine but chill regular wine that much?
  4. That could be body building thing, not necessarily functional strength. He might have heart but in Hall Brawl, he could still face someone who has more weight on him and strength trains. But when he touts his Ivy League degree, while sounding like someone from Mayberry, people might see him as a threat and get him out. Tori is eventually taken out towards the end so if they stay together, they would be targets.
  5. He also said Colbert is predictable, so not funny. Whatever. When the Colbert Report hit, conservatives didn't get that it was satire, that he was clowning them. They tried to do their own version of The Daily Show and others and they all bombed.
  6. It wouldn't be a big surprise if they fed Tyler some of those lines. In fact I would think they do multiple takes for all the cast members to deliver some of their lines. Even professional actors need several takes sometimes and no doubt they're trying to hone some of these convos or talking heads to reinforce some of these personalities. Tyler is going to be the one with the breezy quips, often delivered with a big smile. Maybe he's like that in real life but to appear that way on camera probably takes some work.
  7. Premiers Sept 12, 2021, Sunday. https://www.hbo.com/video/laetitia/videos/trailer Striking thing for me is how old Oscar Issac looks compared to what he looked like in Show Me a Hero. Makeup or is he older than I thought? I haven’t seen the original movie so it should be interesting, updated to now and relocated to the US.
  8. HBO grabbed the rights to this French true crime series, only 6 episodes, in early August. https://www.hbo.com/video/laetitia/videos/trailer Premiers Monday, 8/30/21. HBO has been running European-produced shows on Mondays, including His Dark Materials and Industry — I think they may also have run My Brilliant Friend on Mondays as well. Gonna check it out, though not especially into true crime genre.
  9. During the original run, a lot of fans didn’t care how terrible Tony and crew was. they wanted to see more people whacked. Thy didn’t like to see Tony in therapy even though that was one of the original hooks for the show, a contemporary gangster, suburban dad, and mobster secretly in therapy. in fact I believe in TwoP threads, Melfi and Carmella were widely hated, for cockblocking Tony from being Scarface or something. Chase went to great pains to show how horrible these people were. In one season finale, they had a montage of Tony having a big gathering at his house, with lavish spread and these gangster families having the best time, while their victims, those they were extorting, were living miserably, doing sex work and other unpleasant things. But a lot of fans didn’t care, they floved the surface mannerisms of these sociopaths, the funny things they’d say.
  10. That scene was staged, Frederick getting good news while driving. Probably got news in a normal phone call so they decided to have him drive and run off to jump in the fountain. Now did they pay a license to film that on the roads and even to have traffic closed on that road except for Fredericks car and the car with the cameraman which was following his car? or did they film on the roads without a license from the LA film license agency or whatever authority which controls these things.
  11. So the finale, everyone did great, set records, made big career jumps. Yadda, yadda. Ryan’s scene was staged of course. He made that deal with probably some slick PowerPoint presentation. Or they picked him because of his track record. I wonder if he does as much retail brokering as he claims or has delegated the showings and open houses, which may get dreary. Wouldn’t he prefer to spend weekends with wife and daughter instead of hosting open houses? Seems like realtors starting out would pay their dues, give up their weekends and life away from the office. As for the big clients, there must be friction if he signed clients who had been clients of his former employer or those whom he met when he was working for his previous employer. The Frederick and Steve scenes were staged too. I’m sure both of them had deals in hand before the cameras started rolling. KJ weeping on camera about her big career move. Not sure if genuine or she’s the type who can cry on cue. Kevin finally sold that weirdo apt. Buyer didn’t get her asking price but probably still made money so she gave up enough of the special furnishings. Ryan seemed very optimistic. KJ and Steve both alluded to things becoming better in 6 months, because pandemic would be over. In KJ’s case she was using it to get the seller to take lower price, telling him prices will go back up. But I guess they want to believe that prices will boom or get bubble-ish again. He may be right, people have a lot of money with stock markets at record levels. But with his company, he’s making that bet, though he was predicting that Steve’s $30 million penthouse will be $60 million soon. Great for his business but it says something about wealth inequality and some people might find his comments offensive.
  12. Wow so affordable in Derbyshire, all detached homes with gardens for under $1000. And they moved with enough savings for a month or two? Real Happy Valley vibes. Yeah it would be nice to see episodes in France, Italy, Spain, etc. again.
  13. Showtime tends to ride some shows as much as they can, especially keeping some too long on the air (Shameless) or bringing some back (Dexter). Maybe they don't have a lot of confidence in their development pipeline, that they can find another hit. Like Billions, Showtime advertised the hell out of YH for about a year before they aired it. It doesn't matter if a show starts poorly (YH) or starts out okay and turns bad (The Chi, Homeland after 2 or 3 seasons, The Affair after 2, maybe 3 seasons tops). Some shows they're not going to give up on. Maybe the writing will become smarter now that they killed off the dumbest character in the season 1 finale.
  14. I think the main reason to work out is to build up stamina for the endurance part of the Final. That's assuming they can do it over at least a 2-3 week period. Other thing is probably rest, good sleep patterns, to be in good condition when it's time to do the Final. I don't know that strength training will help that much. You're not going to add much muscle or mass in a few weeks or however long they stay there before they do the Final. Strength and mass won't help in Final but maybe it would help if the last couple of eliminations are Hall Brawls or some other elimination which gives advantage to bigger and stronger players. Nelson is strong and he trains hard. But he will never beat someone like Fessy in a Hall Brawl because he can't add the amount of weight and strength go against Fessy or someone even bigger than him. Certainly not in a couple of weeks. So all the workouts are theater or maybe for the benefit of TV.
  15. Tori seems low drama and well-liked by others. Seems chill, often smiling. Yeah she may not ever be good at the mental aspects of the game. The more she goes without winning, she may turn bitter and entitled, kind of like how Cara Maria started out pleasant. Tori did try to fix Jordan, who's like the opposite of her personality-wise. She may be a bit of a martyr.
  16. Demotions, firings, it's all fake drama. I can see turnover on real charters, where people are let go between charters or seasons. But unless the performance or behavior is really egregious, it seems unlikely that the people who run charters are always looking to bring in new people. Maybe there's an agency which supplies workers so it's relatively easy to get people in and out? But on BD, of course these questions about who will be fired or demoted hangs over seasons for several episodes, so they have some story which can drive the show for awhile. Also the casting people for these BD shows must read things like pageant forums and social media, looking for people who are going to cause drama. They probably have people they think will get fired in a season and there must be a quota of those that they need to recruit. Obviously they read Delaney's CV where she may have embellished her resume about performing stew functions. Like we haven't seen BD-universe cast members embellish their resumes before? Or what about that racist Russian chef they hired who put out awful food? None of that was an accident, they hoped and prayed she'd make awful food as well as start fights with her racist/homophobic opinions.
  17. I usually like Sarah’s chipper personality but the HH was trying to match her and there was no counterbalance. The way they set up the scenes, they make it seem like Courtney only consulted with Sarah about her choice, not with hubby back home. So they shot in Sarah’s home and the glimpses of it looked nicer than most of the properties she’s shown. What’s up with that? She holding out the good places? Also Courtney moved to Amsterdam for work but commute was not a criteria? Presumably it was not an issue with any of the properties or at least the one she chose. She kind of seemed like she was too into the “adventure” and setting up a separate home for herself. Surprised she was willing to spend more for the roof terrace. Does she entertain a lot? Again her story is that she’s leaving the hubby back home for her work.
  18. The daily and the elim8nation were both good, mostly up to the players, no natural advantages for anyone. Tori got talked into choosing Berna but she bumbled, making Tacha a promise she couldn’t keep. Tacha calling her out as she was leaving raises her profile as a target. Devin thought Berna was a threat but why would he care, it’s the vet women who should care. Maybe the montage of Berna working out hard was suppose to show she’s a threat. Tori was wary of Michele because she performed well despite a bloody nose. Maybe should have gone with her own instinct. May be why she hasn’t come close to winning big money. Interesting that CT wanted to foil Devin’s plan too. So there are fissures in the vet alliance, though CJ highlighted the fact that they kept sending all rookies into elimination. Cory says the rookies don’t know what hit them. No it’s pretty obvious to pretty much everyone what’s going on. If Cory wasn’t a vet, he might not hough. Berna at some point started calming down, comfortable up in the air. Most people might get wobbly knees or struggle with their balance after repeatedly falling off. The coaching also helped.
  19. He only showed two places because he claimed there weren't any others. Maybe not in her price range but 0.5% vacancy rate is impressive, though if that place is more of a summer vacation destination, maybe they filmed in the summer during peak season. Also, places like that don't offer a lot of long-term rentals either, though I don't know if that's the case with Noosa.
  20. Sounds like she prioritizes play over work, though she recognizes it can't be that way forever. Good decision to choose her own space and while she can still surf and socialize, she's not right in the middle of it, as would have been the case if she chose one of the other places. Would it have been worth it for her to work more hours to have that nicer place? She's close to the beach and the bars but if she had to work more, she wouldn't have as much leisure time. She learned to surf but she's not a surfer who disregards common goals like having nice home and things, nice job, etc. AJ at one point said she doesn't need all these nice, materialistic things. Well he was speaking more for himself than her. I wonder if her back story is as colorful as they made it out to be, which was some kind of free spirit who traveled for awhile, not worrying about work or money. Could be that she wanted to travel but maybe she had some better work opportunities, especially where she ended up in Noosa. Other Australian episodes are typically about people finding jobs and relocating because of the job. They tried to make this about her wanting to surf a lot and moving to feed that habit.
  21. Well there are only 3 charters left after this episode. So that's what like 2 weeks, if that in filming time on the boat? Would be kind of dumb to "fire" someone with one or two charters left. But hey if it causes a big meltdown and screaming on TV, totally worth it to the producers!
  22. They dumped this big decision on her. First Sandy said "it's up to you" whether to take on Delaney, with Delaney right there in front of them. Then, it was that she couldn't just room with Mat so in order to keep her, they'd have to move around several of the interior and deck crew members, who would also have to take lower share of the tip because of one additional crew. So the whole plan is to stress Katie and the other stews, alos the deck crew, since they would have to move to different cabins to accommodate her. So there may be resentment and conflict. This is Bravo's idea of good television.
  23. They ruled she can’t room with a man after she’d already moved in? Sounds like manufactured drama, though the new stew isn’t a quitter, says she should have a chance. She got teachers to change her grades? They knew she wasn’t a stew but put her in anyways since it would only cause drama. How about Sandy putting Katie on the spot in front of Delaney about keeping her. Doing laundry all day is going to get old but humid weather and active crew and guests mean laundry all the time. Then several crew have to move to different cabins to accommodate her. Also they will allow couples to take up a cabin but not single people of the opposite sex. What if the singles are gay or lesbian? Seems arbitrary but maybe the rules set by the yacht owners are set in old ways. OK the guests are playing for the cameras with the constant twerking and then the fat suit lap dance. Who’s going to bother bringing a fat suit on a trip other than for a TV show? Another indication that they’re casting the guests. You’d think there would be fire extinguishers all over the boat but especially the galley? Strange impulse, to grab something that was on fire like that. I’d throw water on it on the stove before I’d touch it.
  24. Well if he was smart, he'd have a lot of money socked away, unless he blew it on exotic cars and such.
  25. Because of the selfishness of Breyer and Feinstein. They should be pressured to retire, loudly and publicly, shamed for being selfish and stupid. Bill was right about that and the one guest said people were livid behind the scenes. Why just be livid behind the scenes? They should be very open and public about Breyer being selfish.
