  1. They've also incorporated Egyptian gods and Chinese mythology. I'm not sure why Noah's ark coming into play is such an issue.
  2. I would describe everything Arthur did as "obnoxious." I'll never understand how he had so many fans. Middle of the pack talent, stubborn and generally annoying.
  3. Am I the only person who hates every single person on this show? Can't stand any of them. Wouldn't walk into my front yard to interact with one person on the cast. Jesus, a bunch of head cases who would all be better off single.
  4. I'm REALLY late to the party with this one, but I had just never got around to watching this. I enjoyed the show, but I must say that the last two seasons were just really "heavy" for lack of a better term. I don't necessarily mind that, but there was just more drama going on in Parts 7/8 than I would've really preferred. The show was light, funny, and really reminded me of the small town that I grew up in. The last two seasons felt different in writing, production and virtually every other area.
  5. I told my wife earlier in the day yesterday that Casey was the one going home. Vocally, she just isn't as strong as the other three. It's probably due to youth and a lack of experience, but she simply gets lost in the music when she's doing rock anthems. It's not a knock on her, and I expect her to have a solid future, but of the top 4, I believe the was the fourth best. Had Caleb been on the show, I think he would have joined her in the exit last night. My personal votes were pretty straight forward. Chayce-10, Willie-9, Grace-8 and Casey-7. Chayce, Willie and Grace have been the best vocalists of the season all year and deserve their top 3. Truly, Willie singing hits me as a religious experience. There is something so truly genuine about him, his vocals and his God-given ability to connect. Grace's vocals are also superb. If we're being honest, (based PURELY on vocal ability) they're both better than a good portion of what's on radio today. No, they're not great entertainers, but they're superb vocalists. Chayce is the total package, but I hope he doesn't win based on the fact that he's my favorite this year. I don't want to see him hamstrung by the Idol victory contract when I think a country record label could do him much more good on its own than an Idol win will do. Having said that, the fact that his single is number 1 on the country charts is very telling. He's got an established fan base already while Grace and Willie will probably split the same demographic of voters. Finally, I'm nervous about Chayce rising to fame based on his admitted struggles with substance abuse. I'm hoping that he is surrounded by people who are willing to tell him "no" when he needs to hear it. Unfortunately, fame brings out a lot of "yes men," and that's not what someone with Chaycey's background needs.
  6. I live in the south and don't know of any areas that don't have AC in the schools. Not saying that there's none out there, but I don't know of any and I travel around this area quite a bit.
  7. I don't feel a lot of guilt about hoping for a fictional family to break up.
  8. I loved "How I Met Your Mother," including the finale.
  9. Very good points. I don't know that I think that Idol "favors" white people, but there's really no point in debating that here. I like his vocals but that's primarily because I'm a HUGE country fan. My grandpa played a major role in raising me, and had me listening to country music at a young age. As much as I like country and think Caleb can sing, I don't think he was good enough to win. Truthfully, he was probably the fourth or fifth best contestant left out of the top 5. I had already told my wife that I figured he would get sent home this week. However, if he had managed to win and THEN this happened? You're right. The chaos that would've ensued would have been insane. They definitely had no choice but to cut him loose. I was just glad they didn't bring back somebody that had already been voted off (namely Arthur Gunn).
  10. So glad to see that I'm not the only one who is often annoyed by John Boy. Even in the early years when John and Zeb were tirelessly working to try to keep food on the table, John Boy was holed up in his room writing about how hard they were working. He was plenty old enough to be out there helping, and during that era of American history, that's exactly where he would have been. I can't remember the exact episode, but I saw one within the last couple days where John told John Boy to stack some wood but he wanted to go somewhere. When Zeb told him that he would do it, John Boy happily yelled, "Daddy! Grandpa said he'd do the work!" Like...who the hell does that?!?! "Sure glad I dodged that work, I'll let my elderly grandpa do it for me." I thought more times than not that John needed to go upside John Boy's head.
  11. I'm far from a movie buff, so I had no reference point to what movie this even was. I wouldn't be surprised if she lied, but I also don't want to just assume someone's a liar. I think his "bettering himself" statement could still apply, even if it was a movie imitation. You can better yourself from taking part in things that you shouldn't, no matter what motivated the action. I liked his statement. Thought it was pretty straightforward. I hope he goes on and leads a productive, successful life, whether it's in music or something else. I know society says we're supposed to hope the kid is punished forever, but I'm just not on board with it. I'm a black man who was born, raised and still live in the south. This kind of stuff is minor compared to what I've dealt with in my life, so perhaps I'm not as outraged as I should be. I think he was 12/13 and stupid. I know as 12/13, I was stupid too. Did plenty of regrettable things that I hope people don't still define me by. I know I was raised in a different time, but I know my parents would have flipped out if I was even active on social media at age 12. Unless they were completely inattentive, I find it hard to believe that they didn't know about this. At 12/13, is it really about "wanting the world to know something about you" or is it about trying to do something outlandish on social media to get clicks/likes/shares/whatever it is that you're into. I'm not saying he's not a racist; I'm saying we don't know if he is and I generally try to give people the benefit of the doubt. At the youngest, he was 12. At oldest, he was 13. Either way, I don't think you really know a whole lot about yourself at that point. I'm not a big fan of punishing people for something they did when they were 12/13. His situation is a bit different I guess because he's still just 16. I understand cutting him from the show because advertisers would NEVER go for it. Having said that, I don't think it makes him toxic in Nashville. Morgan Wallen's album broke digital sales records after his drunken racial slur. Talent always outweighs controversy, so if somebody believes he's got the talent, they'll try to make a buck off him. I think they'll hide him for a year or so, but I do think somebody will give him a deal.
  12. I grew up with parents who loved this show and I hated it. During quarantine, I found myself watching it and am completely captured by it's innocence, wholesomeness and truth. So glad to see that there are others still discussing it. I'll definitely be visiting this forum more often going forward!
  13. Oh I know they had to cut him. It's an advertising nightmare. I just think that the fact that they had to cut him for something he did when he was 12 is a sad statement about our world.
  14. Absolutely hated seeing the news about Caleb this morning when I logged on here. I understand that we're addressing racism and other issues that have been long ignored, but potentially ruining a kid's future because of a social media post when he was 12? I'm glad that social media wasn't so prevalent when I was younger because I'm sure all of my stupid decisions would ruin my life. I may have never taken a picture with someone in a KKK hood (would be ironic on multiple levels if I had), but I screwed up plenty of things in my youth. But it does pose the question: why in the hell does a 12 year old have social media?
  15. This was the first episode of the season that I didn't absolutely hate. Give me more Uncle Nicky. My wife and I are both still hoping that Kevin and Sophie end up together. It's more of a personal deal for us since we got a divorce and got remarried I suppose, but we're holding onto a sliver of hope. I like Madison, but I'm still pulling for Kevin and Sophie.
  16. Am I the only one who is starting to get tired of the same show every week? The topics may change, but the general outline has gotten soooo predictable. 1-While some light-hearted music softly plays, Max notices a prevalent hot button cultural issue (Hatred towards minorities, Native American injustices, climate change) 2-Max makes huge changes to the hospital to combat said issues that are generally over the top and make him look stupid. 3-Max realizes that his changes, while well meaning, went too far and has a moment of self-reflection that is sparked by a mundane conversation with a staff member or patient's family. 4-Max makes more reasonable changes. Lather, rinse, repeat. I've loved the show since the beginning, but it's just starting to feel a bit repetitive.
  17. Two hours....two hours and not one person I'd ever care to hear sing again.
  18. Teen girl that sang Motley Crue was absolutely PHENOMINAL! Holy crap, that girl can sing. The fact that she's 15 and has that sort of control is awesome. She should make Final 5 at least. Viking guy has talent. I'm not sure why he decided to do a comedy schtick but hopefully he's done waving Thor's hammer around. Hawaiian siblings: The girl can really sing. The brother is nothing really. They wrote a catchy song together, but his vocals sound like the kid who finishes third in the school talent show. I guess we just wanted to put them through together because....story? Latin Luke: Seemingly nice guy. Wouldn't care to grab a beer with him but putting him through is insulting to the people with actual talent. He sounded awful. Crying guy at the end? I'm not sure what was so mind blowing about him. He sounded good (better than many others who have been pushed through), but outside of his sob story, he just sounded like another Idol hopeful. Reuben Studdard wannabe. Ex con-Awesome story of redemption, think he's got a solid voice. Won't win, but I could see him turning this into something with some songs and some motivational speaking events.
  19. The old school country boy was definitely the highlight of the episode. I've been to the town where he's from, so I automatically felt like rooting for him. Love his sound, his confidence, everything about him really. Loved when Luke said he could make a phone call and get him to the Opry. Hey Katy, we know you hate Trump, but the over the top facial expressions based on a guy's last name who was auditioning? Totally immature, attention-whoring and generally pathetic. Not everyone who shares a last name is related. Get over yourself. Conway girl? God love her. Her mom's a whackjob, her dad's a jackass and she really can't sing that well. Major publicity grab and her Tik Tok following will probably watch until she gets outclassed by 80% of the people they've sent through. Navy Dad? Thanks for your service, but it doesn't give you a license to be a complete dildo to everyone who doesn't agree with you. Sorry, not how it works. I think the daughter would've gone through, but the show knew they'd have to deal with him and her abilities aren't worth the headache he is. Crying girl without a mom: Perfect example of "tell a sad story, sing moderately OK and get pushed through. Pity vote, won't last.
  20. That may very well be true. I know we're having to get a setup for everything that has to happen next season, but this one has just been so bland. I mean, we literally spent an hour last week watching people drive home from the hospital. The most exciting thing that happened was Jack wanting to fight a guy at the gas station who never got out of his car. I'm also so incredibly sick of Randall's self-indulgence. I used to really like him, but he seems like a total ass this season.
  21. Just found this show when looking for something to binge watch. Nothing really new to add here, but Kim is an absolute whack job and Barry needs punched in the throat. Two of the most self-righteous jerkwads I've ever seen in my life. No wonder their older kids can't stand them. Give the younger ones time, and they'll hate them too.
  22. I didn't understand most of the decisions we saw this week. The maid who sang Girl Crush seemed like a sweetheart, but does she really have a chance of winning? No. Her timing is terrible and there's nothing remotely special about her voice. ET? What in the blue hell was that?! Katy liked her because she's weird and it felt like she kinda goaded Lionel and Luke to push her through as well. That girl will get bounced early in Hollywood. Mias didn't get through because his voice was lacking "something," yet there was at least three other people worse than him who got a pass. Maybe he didn't cry enough? Cecil? Nice guy, nothing remarkable. Sounds like every teenage guy who does a country cover at a high school talent show in a small town. But again, sad story. Gotta push him through. Mary Jo, Alanis and Ronda were the class of the episode, IMO. Outside of that, I sat there and wondered what the judges were thinking for the most part.
  23. Am I the only one who just can't get into this season? Last week's episode was just another example of an hour of nothingness. My wife and I have been completely into the show until this season, but it just feels like something is missing.
  24. Maybe I'm just irritable today (got my reasons), but how many times do they need to mention the pandemic in the first 15 minutes? We all know it's going on; but I don't shoehorn it into every conversation like they're doing on this show.
  25. I'm glad to see that people still watch this show. Me and my dad watch it together whenever we can.
