  1. I'm already making some guesses on what happened to the dead young man. It will be interesting to see how all of the people we've been introduced to tie into the murder. One thing that bugged me: that almost all of the scenes were probably less than a minute each. So it was a snippet here, next snippet there, on to the next snippet. The show may do this as a device to save time, but not being of the MTV Generation (and younger) it is like watching ADHD TV.
  2. This one made me so angry - that piece of shit weasel has gotten away with murder, and the sad thing is that this is more common than you'd think. Over a period of about 30 years, I've had more than one conversation with police investigators (social contacts) where they've said that in many officially "unsolved" cases, they know who did it but don't have enough evidence to bring the person to trial. In cases where there is no body, it's even more difficult. It's just really sad that the woman in this case seemed to be so socially isolated that nobody really paid attention to her being missing until the hairdresser thought about her. You have to really hope that if there is no justice in this plane of existence, there will be in the next...
  3. I'm actually liking this season much better than last season. Why do so many people seem to dislike Jack? I think Maria Bello is a good actress and is bringing something intriquing to the part. As for Jack not wanting to be in a locked up space, wasn't it already spoken that she had been held captive and tortured when she was stationed overseas? We haven't been told much but enough to know that experience happened to her. Has anybody read any scuttlebutt about why Pauley Perrette is leaving the show and why she and Mark Harmon are probably not getting along? I've only been watching NCIS for a few years (since the season when Bishop came on board) and I've never cared for Abby. Maybe if she were 25, Abby could be considered cute and quirky, but at this stage of the game the actress and the person she is playing has got to be over 40 and the double pigtails and the outfits are looking ridiculous. It would be a kicker if on Abby's final appearance, she waltzes in and her hair is cut and her clothing is more mature and she announces that she's leaving because Abby has decided to "grow up". I still don't understand why on the NCIS shows the tech people have to be presented as cute, quirky, weirdos. Talk about stereotyping!
  4. Anybody else think that Sylvie might really be pregnant? Just saying this because of her symptoms (on-going for a number of days) and that Gabby wanted to take her to Med because the hospital pregnancy test is "more accurate". Also note that test box with the very large "99% Accurate" we kept seeing so often.
  5. I think the problem with Upton is that the actress who plays her seems to have one facial expression. No matter what the situation is, she always has this almost bemused poker face. The actress is beautiful, so I enjoy looking at her, and for a while I thought she was just playing Upton as being someone who can keep her cool all the time but c'mon. She was put in some heavy-duty stuff in this episode and every scene she had the same expression - almost Sphynx-like. And re her apartment - I said to my companion that Chicago detectives must get much better pay than the Firepeople do because the Firefolk all seem to be rooming up so maybe they can't afford such a swanky-looking pad.
  6. So far, totally meh. I'll give it a few more weeks to see how it goes. Alan Cummings is good; I also liked that he is gay and married, thus taking him hooking up with the woman cop off the table. I don't like that she has a killed in action fiance and an old/sick dog. For some reason this show kept making me think of" The Secrets of Laura". Maybe the production or direction or trying to be somewhat light - dunno. Now that they moved "Madam Secretary" to the timeslot of doom and when "Elementary" comes back to what's being rumored as it's final season, it seems that Sunday night CBS viewing may be a slog. Thank God for the DVR if you can figure out what time to set it for.
  7. Frankly, I think it's Voight/Beghe who really makes this show. I like Jon Seda but if he gets promoted to Voight's job I'm probably out. I've got to say when this is actual about crimes and solving cases, I like the show but when it's about the members' personal angst and bed hopping, it's just not my thing. As CheshireCat said, "I guess we'll see".
  8. So what is the end game here? Are the showrunners trying to get rid of the 2 "old" guys (Olinsky and Voight) and just have a show with the young pretty people and their soap operas (sort of like Chicago Fire)? Or is this going to wind up this season's cliffhanger : who is going to take the fall - Olinsky or Voight - neither or both?
  9. Well, yet another hour of my life wasted watching this stupid crap. I agree with others that it would have been a much better episode had Mia been prosecuted for making a false rape accusation against the guy whose life was then totally ruined because of it. Instead the show took the cheap shot and made the young guy an actual "revenge rapist". Yup, leave it to L&O SVU to never have some nuance when cheap melodrama will do. And in WHAT police dept would a cop whose niece was raped be allowed to be on the case? Especially in a police dept the size of NYC's. REALLY??? I've bitched about this before but I hate it when tv shows insult my intelligence. Oh, and the actress who played Carisi's sister - I guess she went to the Cyndi Lauper School of Noo Yawk Accents. I was born in the Bronx, mainly grew up on Long Island, and have friends and family from Brooklyn, Queens, Manhattan, AND Staten Island, and I can tell you that there is actually a range of Downstate NY Accents (yep, people from Nassau County have a somewhat different accent than Suffolk County, and if you ever run into some real East End Oldtimers - few left - you'll hear that they sound more like New Englanders), but NOBODY I've ever met speaks like that. Frankly, I think that Cyndi Lauper even puts it on, because I've heard her speak in more of a "normal" NY accent rather than that cartoon 1930 squawk she famously speaks with.
  10. Man, was I ever rolling my eyes at "The Ruby" Rick was practically having an orgasm over. Number one, it looks nothing like any real ruby I've ever seen (and if it WERE a real ruby, it 's worth would be astronomical) but it looks like plenty of glass "jewels" I've seen. The first thing I thought of was the saying "It's good to have an open mind, but not so open your brains fall out". I really like Rick and Marty - they seem like two nice guys, and I really, really, hope they find something of worth on Oak Island, even if it's only for old Mr. Blankenship's sake. but at this point, it's losing the fun and becoming beyond stupid.
  11. It appeared to be a lazy ass, corrupt cop who led the investigation and it seems as if he had his mind made up from the get go. I mean why waste time, money, and gasp! effort when it was SO obvious that the wife did it (rolling eyes here). How many times on Dateline have we seen that if the spouse doesn't react in the way the cops think he/she should be reacting it immediately raises suspicion. Hey! Remember the case where the one poor guy's wife got murdered and he was out playing board games with a bunch of friends, and he was on camera gassing his car and getting snacks and all his friends were vouching for him, yet the cops still railroaded him to jail where he sat for how many years? Once some of these cops make up their minds, you're going to be toast unless you prove you had an audience with the Pope at The Vatican while the murder was taking place. And some of these juries! I hate to say it, but how many intelligent people (esp if they have jobs) try to get out of jury duty any way they can - so who does that leave to be on the jury?
  12. I thought Zac was very handsome but I thought so when he was over on Major Crimes (he was brought in last year to be the "hot young" cop). I'm just proud of myself for recognizing him!
  13. I may be wrong (please correct me if so), but I thought it was mentioned on Dateline that the police didn't interview either the ex or the neighbor from down the street who had just gotten out of jail. And I'm not even saying the ex did it - he could be clean and on the straight and narrow, but could he have even had friends who he had told about his former in-laws? It just seems to me from what was presented on Dateline that the woman convicted of her husband's murder really had no motive other than the insurance policy. If the marriage had been unhappy, if there had been affairs, spousal abuse, stuff like that happening, I could see it, but from what I could gather from the show, there was none of that. Had the woman even told friends or family she was sick of her husband? Also, I wonder if religious prejudice entered into convicting her? People have ideas about Jehovah's Witnesses that aren't exactly, um, positive, so could have that played into what happened?
  14. I totally agree with this as it was exactly what I was thinking also. Maybe the ex knew there was money or valuable jewelry in the safe and that was the only thing there worth the effort. When I lived in Denver in the 80s, my house was robbed soon after I changed the door locks so my estranged husband couldn't keep coming and going when he wanted to. A bunch of weird stuff was stolen (like a vacuum cleaner and the good perfume, among other things) but it was as if the people doing the robbery KNEW there was no cash or jewelry in the house. The drawers were only half pulled open instead of dumped like in most robberies. Even the cop who took the report told me that he thought that my ex was probably behind the robbery (he was at work when it happened, so he probably paid somebody to do it) because of the types of stuff stolen and the half-opened drawers. So, even thought I'm usually the first to yell "The Spouse Did It" - I think this woman was totally railroaded into jail due to lazy police work. Just interesting how it happened to a middle class white person instead of the usual person of color.
  15. Yikes, this show is a hot mess. Even when they do the occasional fire scene, the people involved don't seem to have the right equipment and go rushing into buildings without any regard to safety. I like Gabby but she really is over the top. Future episodes we can see her go back to school to get her MSW and THEN we'll have the crossover Chicago Social Services show... I wonder if Brett is going to have the "shocking" pregnancy which has been mentioned for upcoming episodes. It's really the only reason I can for all the hot n heavy Brett and Antonio whipping off their clothes and doing the nasty. Can't see any other reason for that being in the show without some kind of fall-out. And it almost seems as if the producers have to keep finding things for Jon Seda. He's barely in Chicago PD and since Chicago Justice tanked, they must have a contract with him where he needs to be paid for a certain number of episodes or appearances.
  16. "Dirty John" was one of the better Datelines I've seen and I guess that great minds think alike because I also thought that the reason we didn't see Debra's other daughter (Jacqueline?) was because John killed her. I guess that Dateline purposely wanted it to appear that way. I find it sad that someone as attractive as Debra and apparently so well-off could be so lonely and desperate for love and affection that she would fall prey to a guy like Dirty John. A woman like her could be really picky about who she would get involved with, but she was anything but picky. Thank God Terra had a thing for zombie tv shows and lots of guts, and that 14 year old girl got involved as well. I read the 6 part LA Times article and Dateline left out alot - fascinating reading.
  17. This is a boring show and badly written at that. I hate how we have the "hot" younger charecters and then the older or not handsome guys are all buffonish clowns. Except for the Chief and he seems to be an unhappy tortured soul. And wasnt he married last season (wife was a teacher or school shrink or something)? And finally, why is a family of obviously Hispanic people named "Dawson". I only started watching this show recently, so was that explained in a backstory?
  18. Could somebody fill in a little about the will? For some reason I can't access the story about it. And yeah, Mickey Mom was a narcisstic asshole. My bet is she played her kids against each other since they were children and then enjoyed the drama when they fought/hated each other as adults.
  19. Is Stevie feeling a tad desperate? Not that Dmitri is unattractive, but she is just throwing herself at him. And anybody else think that Dmitri looked uh, stoned, when he met Stevie in the restaurant at the end of the show? And good to read that Blake isn't going anywhere as per the actor's Twitter. I miss Nadine and frankly, I ain't feelin' it for the new woman, who is making me miss Dog Guy from the previous seasons. She just seems so over the top, especially for a person in her position. Finally, speaking of OTT - Blake's Parents! I guess I would've pictured them as being Mainline Patrician and maybe having some elegance and class. These people came across as anything but - as in the words of Oscar Wilde - they know the price of everything and the value of nothing.
  20. Yeah, I think the writers really seem to push the NY stereotype of being pushy and loud. The actress really is from NY and maybe is a charming person in real life but on this show the writing and direction turn her into a cartoon but then this show appears to be turning all the charecters into cartoons.
  21. Another crappy episode. And is the actress who plays Gregorio pregnant or just have some weight gain? It seems that they have her wearing tops that are loose in the belly area. She's probably too young for a "menopot" but that kind of top is generally covering something.
  22. I like Ray! I just noticed that he also plays Asst Chief Mason on Major Crimes.
  23. Sigh. Another 45 minutes of my life wasted watching this now awful show. A really enjoyable and well-done show like Major Crimes is being yanked off the air but stupidity like this stays on (yeah, ok, different network, but still). Ditto, ditto, ditto, to what everybody above has posted. It's one thing to watch escapist crap but when they insult my intelligence, that's a different story altogether...
  24. Only 4 comments? Man, interest in this once good show is really tanking on this forum! So my comments are: Yeah, what the hell is with Sonia's hair (it always looks as if the wardrobe/makeup/hair budget on this show is like 25 bucks an episode)? And why is it that everybody on this show seems to live in really cool digs? Either rent is incredibly cheap down there and/or NCIS agents make really big salaries. I'm still missing Merri (and is it just me, or does it seem that the entire tone of this show has changed since she left?) but I'm getting used to Gregorio. I also like the FBI guy but I'm finding Pride to be annoying (and he's the star of the show!). Oh well, brain-dead entertainment on a Tuesday night..
  25. I'm going to miss Nadine - at least they are letting her go out on a high note rather than killing her off (the way it's done in so many shows). I'm already done with Dimitri - I like him and I think the actor is really good, but please, after all the poor guy has been through, let him have a happy life. And I am so done with Hubby The Super Hero/Spy Master. Again, I like the actor, but enough already. This is supposed to be Madame Secretary, not the Super Hero/Super Spy/Arm Candy Hubby Hour.
