  1. I would have LOVED a tiny scene with the random people in the elevator in the moments after the door closed, all who TF was that... I hope he can find some construction workers to enlarge that lobby then, stat... Honestly, all I can think of every time I see that yellow BLM on the ground is Reynolds flying onto his back. Max is lucky Reynolds didn't decide he wants to own the hospital. Same. I'm no expert on the subject, but I would imagine people seeking gastric bypass to be in the ballpark of Chrissy Metz, not this girl or her mom. I'd also think that Iggy or mom would have said something about how she's probably still not done growing and her adult body may still be changing.
  2. IIRC, that was a girl in Cindy's exercise class...and then Will got jealous, asking why Hermann automatically thought of his brother and not him, and then Hermann mentioned the girl liked to play bingo or something, and both Halsteads laughed like crazy and said they'd pass. There is! Mouch and Platt - I wouldn't mind seeing more of them.
  3. I attended Catholic school from kindergarten through high school...trust me, the nuns ain't all that holy. She totally wanted revenge. IMO whenever Severide does this, he never really seems all that invested in the conversation...kinda like the stereotypical "Yes, dear, whatever you say" over a cup of coffee and a newspaper. I haven't been able to figure out whether this is intentional on the part of the character or if Taylor Kinney is starting to just phone it in.
  4. Not to mention, where is that non-existent little boy of theirs? If his mom is normally teaching from home, wouldn't he be homeschooling? But Donna arrived without a single word about him or where he was that day.
  5. No, because then probably Will would take custody of Owen and there would literally be no end to his saintliness... Also, Natalie is a pediatrician, yet rarely do we see her working with kids. Most times she just takes on whatever adult patient comes into the ED, which makes no sense...I would imagine an emergency department in the middle of a major American city would have tons of people, including kids, coming in all the time. It's not likely that Natalie would have "down time" in which she'd see an adult because there weren't any patients under 18.
  6. Not to mention, wouldn't other custodians at Med wonder how the mom suddenly got a job there? Like, was there conveniently an opening, or did Sharon just stick the woman into a non-existent job? Either way, people have a way of finding these things out in a workplace, and then they will only resent the new employee.
  7. Honestly, Maggie's ridiculous behavior took a backseat in my mind to the fact that Vanessa happened to remain in Chicago after her adoption, then also attend med school in Chicago, now is being placed in not only the hospital where her bio mom works but also THE SAME FREAKIN' DEPARTMENT, ON THE SAME SHIFT?? Like seriously?? With these kinds of astronomical odds on her side, Maggie should play the lottery. I used to really like Natalie, and then when she and Will finally became a couple, I was really happy. I thought we'd get some good storylines, like them trying to work together while married, Will adjusting to being a dad, whatever. But then that relationship became a seriously creepy thing, and then Natalie afterward even creepier. In my mind, both Halsteads are married...Will to early days Natalie and Jay to Erin. They both have babies now and are very happy.
  8. My interpretation of this has always been that Intelligence generally tries to blend into various backgrounds - remember the early seasons, when they used to dress as construction workers, homeless people, etc. more often? And that was when they were heading out to specific assignments and had time to prepare. So maybe the hoodies and puffers are just part of trying to look like everyone else...as non-memorable as possible.
  9. This. And really, if you stop and look at it closely, you'll see that all the woman occasionally do have their hair pulled back/up, but of the main characters, Upton has hers loose and flowing the most. So IMO that would be due to a vanity on the part of the actress, or of the character (though I doubt the writers are thinking that deeply about it.)
  10. Yes, but apparently it's a family failing... *cough* Will *cough* And don't forget, the "gets along with Platt when almost nobody else does" box. Remember early seasons, when all the newbies were terrified of her, but in her few milder moments, we saw how much Platt cared for Erin, had known her many years, etc. Now, we see Upton is all casual about their apparently equal status, even calling her "Trudy".
  11. But isn't Makayla like six or seven years old? Why on earth would she still need a car seat? Edit: Ok, I just went and Googled "Illinois car seat laws" (which is undoubtedly more effort than the One Chicago writers bother to put into 90% of their storylines, but I digress...) Here's what I found: Illinois Child Passenger Protection Act The Child Passenger Protection Act requires that all children under age 8 be properly secured in an appropriate child safety restraint system. This includes the use of booster seats, which must only be used with a lap/shoulder safety belt. If the back seat of the vehicle is not equipped with lap/shoulder type safety belts, a child weighing more than 40 pounds may be transported in the back seat without a booster seat, secured with a lap belt only.
  12. Seems I may stand alone, but IMO Spiradokos/Upton was a clear substitute for Sophia Bush from day one...everything from her looks to her broken childhood to her partnership with Halstead (which then OF COURSE had to become a romance, because isn't it obvious straight men and women can't work closely together without falling into bed??)
  13. I think I missed part of an episode this season...did they ever explain why we never heard of Henry having a son for eight whole years??
  14. Actually, jeans were common among working-class people in the western US from about the 1850s or so - and the Levi Strauss ones were initially marketed toward miners, which were certainly in vast numbers in Coal Valley. So it isn't too absurd to imagine that Jack could have picked up some jeans locally. As a guy who rode horses and did a lot of manual labor, I would imagine he would have liked some sturdy pants. And of course, flannel shirts go back to the 17th century. / historical nerdery
  15. Did anyone at Lexus actually ever read the Bible? David fought Goliath because someone had to - the guy was bullying and threatening the Israelites. Giving each other hugs and singing loving songs around the campfire was not exactly an option.
  16. The current commercial where the gecko is riding on a bus always makes me wonder why he paid for a whole seat. I mean, he's famous, friendly and wants to help people save money. Surely someone would return the favor by letting him chill on their armrest?
  17. Same. In fact, one of the perks of COVID is that I no longer have to hug random acquaintances simply because they've barreled at me and I don't want to offend anyone. On the subject of chocolate - one Valentine's Day when I was a child, my father gifted my mother a box of dark chocolate. He was the only person in the family who liked that kind.
  18. I'm not convinced the situation is over and done with. I thought I saw too many hints of problems presenting themselves down the road. Same. The fact that Henry mentioned giving up his job for the months of recovery ahead means he will both need care and most likely a place to live for a while. That might mean living with his father next season. Also, I noted they had made a point of mentioning that Sarah now lives in Arizona. That's still a distance from LA, of course, but way closer than from Pennsylvania.
  19. Considering that Jane Seymour is essentially a non-aging entity, they probably COULD replace Faith with her... Also, discrimination during that time - and even well into the 20th century - was common between white people of various ethnicities. For instance, one of my aunts was a teenager in the '60s. She recalls how my Polish grandparents really hated the fact that she was dating a French guy. I've heard similar stories from various people over the years, or things like being encouraged to only play with children of the same ethnicity, supporting businesses with owners of the same ethnicity, etc. But in Hope Valley, there has never been an issue with this.
  20. Can someone please explain to me the logic of the commercial for the iPhone 12? You see a purple phone and get a few bars of that '70s song "Candy Man". Huh?
  21. WTF, American Express?? I just saw a commercial where you see a woman, sleeping in a luxurious hotel bed. The voiceover tells us she can't recall what she's doing or how she got there. Then they add, "oh yeah, groceries!" Because apparently she earned so many points paying for her groceries with their credit card she got a free night's stay at a hotel. I get the distinct impression someone thought they were being clever with this little "twist", but it just comes off as really weird and borderline creepy.
  22. At this point, given all the anachronisms, I fully expect Rosemary to invent social media.
  23. As everyone who has one very well knows, our dogs would be shocked to learn that they are pets. Whoever came up with that ad series got it right.
  24. Re: Abigail - I always regretted the decision to remove Pastor Frank from the show (I recall reading an interview with the actor, confirming that leaving was not his choice). Not only was he a strong character, good with both Abigail and Cody, but there was a lot of room for further character development and storylines based on his past. (I mean, how exactly does one go about joining a gang of bank robbers, anyways??)
