  1. Lol, I was under the impression that Rosemary's "official polls" were just a fancy way of saying she talked to a bunch of people... And yeah, there have been school subs before - like Rosemary, Florence or Carson - but literally just a day or two, not a whole month, and that only because Elizabeth wanted to take a vacation. That was weird. And where exactly was Henry all that time? After being so dramatically final about leaving town, he's just back...and nobody asked where the hell he was??
  2. Lots of trailers/promos/teasers going around lately for the new season, in case someone hasn't seen them and wants to, here are a few: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_ZuQ_uPQYGU https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fW8oC5tELcE https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mIhQ8HCye6k https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JtNG6QVmd60
  3. I don't do football, but I was so happy to hear the dog and horse were back in a new Super Bowl Budweiser commercial this year: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nPBxJ2yar-A
  4. There's a commercial for Red Cross, with a woman playing a super-slow rendition of "What the World Needs Now" on the piano in a house...then they pan out, and you see the house is actually a pile of rubble, with people outside trying to dig out anything salvageable, etc. I get the gist - that people always have and need love and hope following disasters and tragedies - but it just struck me as a kind of weird way to portray that.
  5. No worries, I was just speaking about how the shows tend to treat it, not you. I also watched House back in the day.
  6. Speaking of grocery shopping...there's a Stop & Shop commercial I've seen while pumping gas at their station. Mom announces it's time to go grocery shopping, and little boy squeals, "YAY!!" like she just announced a trip to Six Flags. I have yet to meet a child happy to accompany their parent grocery shopping.
  7. As a person with lupus, I find this very disappointing. Because yes, sometimes it IS lupus, and it can be very serious. TV always makes it look like this is a fictitious disease. Just got around to watching this over the weekend and my main thought was "what hospital would allow so many family members top jobs??" Even if Sam was super qualified, her getting that job smacks of nepotism. And that she'd be the one to assess whether her dad could perform surgery again? To anyone who's ever met the guy it would seem rather obvious he'd try to bully his daughter into passing him, regardless of actual condition.
  8. I know this is TV, but it bugs me when someone is planning something as major as med school in another state and there is NO mention of money! Is Bob just expected to pay for all this? Is Abishola taking out huge loans? Either way, it affects them both and certainly merits discussion.
  9. I have long been horrified by the entire line of Charmin bear commercials, but this last one was literally making me dry heave. The kid bear was wiggling his bare itchy butt on various surfaces...including the fabric-covered sofa.
  10. One of my favorite lines - at the intervention, when they mentioned the Bible said not to eat pork but "who among us has not enjoyed a Baconator"?? 😀
  11. My biggest peeve with the Stella plot still continues to be the way everyone acts like Girls on Fire is this revolutionary concept she's bringing to the masses. I live in CT, one of the places she supposedly visited, and I can assure you we already have high school firefighting programs that are very inclusive of girls. Ours even offers a bus ride home, so interested students aren't left out just because of transportation difficulties.
  12. Sure, but as we've seen numerous times now, Mary's rules have never stopped Georgie from anything.
  13. Anyone find it rather unbelievable that Georgie would have no idea who/what the Bee Gees or Saturday Night Fever were? IMO most teens today would have at least heard of them and that's decades later, while Georgie here would have been a kid during their peak?
  14. It struck me right away how different Mary seemed during that chat - honest and fairly adorable in her admissions. It's probably the version of Mary that she was when she and George first started dating. Given how small Medford seems to be, and how the Coopers often go to that restaurant, yes, it's definitely surprising someone would have served Georgie alcohol.
  15. Still no confirmation of when the rest of Season 2 will air - and apparently the episodes are not yet even filmed. https://tvshowsace.com/2022/01/14/when-hope-calls-season-2-new-episodes/
  16. Not to mention: A) Who goes and soaks in a tub right until the time your food is supposed to arrive? By the time you towel off and get to it, it'll be cold. B) It's creepy. No employee delivering a pizza should have to interact with a customer in their bathtub for any reason. The fact that there is no fallback on this makes me wonder how people would react if, say, the pizza delivery person were female.
  17. Sorry! Lee is introduced in the second episode of Season 2. Rosemary, however, shows up in the 11th episode of Season 1. https://m.imdb.com/title/tt2874692/
  18. Elizabeth, Bill, Henry, Lee and Rosemary, Ned and Florence (initially secondary characters who were kind of "upgraded") And hey, I guess Brookfield could use a new teacher...we know there isn't any saloon at present...
  19. In case anyone wants to chat about When Hope Calls when new episodes begin, I started a forum - there hadn't been one til now - https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/125145-when-hope-calls/
  20. I have no idea...but IMO if there was no future to this storyline/character connection, why would both shows keep referring to Henry's and Abigail's relationship? I've seen many shows over the years where an actor left, either due to their own choice or otherwise, and literally all of them later act like the character never existed.
  21. Season 2 - on a different network, two years after the end of Season 1 - of this When Calls the Heart spinoff premiered on Dec. 18, 2021 with a two-hour Christmas special. Lori Loughlin was a guest star in her first acting job since her prison sentence.
  22. My current favorite is the one with the couple talking about the animal in their attic, and it turns out to be Animal from The Muppets. Geez, I get they can't stop him from running around and being loud, but they could at least take his drum set away...
  23. For those who didn't watch the two-hour When Hope Calls movie on Saturday but might be interested in knowing what Abigail's appearance added to the WCTH universe...
