  1. Lots of singers use stage names, some that totally butcher their actual last names. In the case of Martin Sheen, one son uses Sheen, one uses Martin's actual last name. Lots of celebs use a name that isn't in any way related to them. So, I am fine with Amy's publically using Duggar for name recognition. I will agree that Any doesn't have the talent to be a singer headlining shows - but I think she could do singing in any of the Nashville, Memphis night spots, or in lots of the Vegas bar lounges, cruise ships, etc. There is nothing wrong with that as long as she feels satisfied with it. Hannah seemed more high spirited in the episode and it was nice to see a child treat their Dad as a normal child would, not as a dutiful robot. Michelle is definitely medicated, which is not something to make fun of. The only comment I have on that is she did this to herself. She could have handled a few children, well spaced in time.... but she chose to be a human puppy mill. Interesting that Derick and Jill were not at the birthday party - does anyone know when it was? Maybe Derick and Jill are trying to live a more independent life?
  2. I missed last week's episode, so I will say this: I could really tell a difference between the players this week and two weeks ago. It also appears the guy all got their hair cut (aren't they supposed to wait for make-over week?). I think the weight losses were so low this week because it was a short week (as in only two to 3 days). That doesn't explain Damien, unless Comeback Canyon's weigh-in isn't filmed on the same day as the rest of them. I am in the minority in that I like Rob, I feel compassion for him as it is obvious that he has self-loathing. I am torn as to either rooting for Scott or Damien next week, I wish Lori could be the one that is gone. She needs more mental help than weight loss.
  3. What is the deal with the camping? Josh's family has been traveling in RV's for years, Josh and Anna have too. Surely they didn't stop at hotels every night of the trip, since they HAD AN RV. Why are they acting like they have never 'camped' in the RV before, and have no idea how to fix food on the grills in the RV park? Who wears Khaki pants while camping (except TFDW)? If Priscilla and David have camped all the time, why did they need to buy so much stuff just to include Josh and Anna, who already have a fully stocked RV - see the first comment I made here. How are Priscilla and David going to be fundy parents if they only have a small car? Will that car even hold both car seats (a lot of compact cars can't hold two car seats since they are so bulky. Why must these women fawn all over their 'MEN' and their fish? Why does every conversation have to end with kisses? Maybe a few times they could vary it with a hug or two instead?
  4. To the Mods - I suggest we change this topic name to '...and the rest, here on Duggar's Isle'... a la the original theme song for Gilligan's Isle. The professor and Mary Ann didn't get included in the song until later on.
  5. I don't know why we needed Hawley in place of Jenny, or why we just can't have Jenny.. . However, if we have to have him, he should be paired with Jenny, There was a little chemistry there. Abby/Hawley is just boring... as is Crane/Katrina. I don't need Frank, but I don't like the new commander. What happened to the Asian guy, or Luke? How did the baby get born, as I thought they managed to prevent that last week? Why is the Headless Horseman a love-sick puppy, when he is supposed to be a raging maniac?
  6. Besides all that, why does anyone feel the need to test as soon as 3 or 4 days after they ovulate? Waiting until two weeks after your period is late seems soon enough. It's not as if Anna has to quit smoking or drinking and wants to know immediately if she becomes pregnant. If you wait for a couple weeks, you are less likely to get those failed pregnancy positives, since most miscarriages happen early in the pregnancy. I think what Josh said was 'Anna decided to take a pregnancy test'. It's even worse than Pretending.... it's lying, since they made a big point of saying this was their first trip alone as a family, and that the kids outnumbered the adults. Really great ministry there.
  7. Do Leo and Emma have parents? We've never seen or heard about them
  8. I want Nick to get his Grimmness back, and I want Trouble to leave and take Juliette with her. Nick needs to be paired with a Wesen . However, not a bad one like Aunt Marie fell for.
  9. I also loved this episode. I wish Ben had waited until the morning to have Jessa get the tablet. It gave the secret away the way he did it ' first clue to the rest of your life'. He (or someone ) put a lot of thought into the day. It was possible because Jessa and Ben have spent quite a bit of time together, and actually had memories to relive.... just like normal couples who date for a year... as opposed to those who Skype under supervision, and get engage two months after they actually get to 'date'.. I loved the hand-holding at the dinner, and the frontal hug at the engagement. Notice, Jinger didn't see anything wrong with the hug... she didn't jump up and giggle the way Michelle did at dinner. Michelle made it pretty obvious that these are HER rules for the offspring to court. Jessa has had enough and wants to go live her life. It really annoys me when Michelle says that Jim Bob is the keeper of the girls' hearts and will give the hearts to the guy. Really? The girls own their own hearts. It comes off creepy.
  10. I don't think Jim Bob and Michelle can say a word. They humped each other on the mini-golf course, he dips her out in public for kisses all the time. Jessa is married, so this behavior is considered par for the course at that point. Because they are MARRIED, so that makes it ok... just like Jill sitting on Dericks lap at the 4th of July celebration. Even if they don't like it.... according to their own logic, Jessa is no longer under their authority. It's up to the Seewalds to control her now.
  11. I am wondering what Jill might have thought about the Cinderella play that Derick took her to. I wonder if she has heard of the internet comparison of Jana to Cinderella, and what she thinks now that she know who Cinderella is. I am happy to see that Derick took her somewhere that Jim Bob would never let her go.
  12. If we had a few less law students, could get rid of the murder of the professor (case of the week is enough), and tone down the extramarital stuff (as we yell at each other for having affairs), I could like this show. Currently there is not one character that I like (and I like several of the actors that play them). I have been DVr'ing this show and somehow forgot to tape Episode 5.... so now I have an excuse to stop watching. Thank you, thank you, powers that be.
  13. What I found amazing about the preview is Jim Bob telling his daughter ' you are not losing a sister, you are gaining a brother'. Jim Bob finally figured this out on the wedding day? Because in every episode he is crying and whining about giving his daughter away (he means it literally). Michelle is making comments about Jim Bob giving Jill's heart and prayers to another man (as if Jim Bob owns anyone's prayers).
  14. Joy gets to be the new buddy leader... why is that, only 1 of Jill's buddies needs a buddy. Let Michelle be Jenny's buddy. This is the most boring episode yet, just a clip show. This episode does however prove that the older girls have raised all the children, and that Jim Bob and Michelle are going to miss those girls. They have the strangest ideas about how to raise children. Any of you want to have your pre-teens in the room with you while you give birth?
  15. So what will the announcement be tonight since they announced this in a magazine?
  16. I'm not on board with this Frozen arc. I like my OUAT to be classical fairy tales. I didn't go watch Frozen (no grandkids), so I'm just not feeling the love here. However, they have found a role that Elizabeth Mitchell can finally carry off. When would Emma have met the Snow Queen? Has to have been somewhere in this world, rather than Fairy Tale Land. Henry: this is a continuation of last seasons emphasis on Henry having some darkness in his heart along with being a 'true Believer'. I also think Henry hasn't had any experience with individuals living in Stonybrook that would be dead in Fairy Tale land. Marion is only alive because Emma spirited her forward in time. Interesting to see Will Scarlett and the book. I think we are supposed to feel that Will has been tragically separated from the Red Queen. That, or it is at least a tidbit to make us feel that Will actually belongs in Storybrook (as opposed to Elsa).
  17. By the time Jordyn gets married (Josie won't), Jim Bob and Michelle won't remember which child she is and will get her confused with their grandchildren. They won't pay for anything, nor will they care if she elopes. That's really what they mean by 'not being able to do the same for all of the kids'. I can bet that Michelle will have sent anyone left at home after she turns 55 to Jana's to be raised, as she will claim infirmity.
  18. ==.that would be the most boring/worst book ever since it would consist of random KJV bible verses and lyrics to Christian songs== I'm not all that knowledgeable about the various Bibles, but the slips of paper that I saw in their photo did not appear to have KJV verses. I was raised on KJV, which is hard to read/understand. Those verses appeared to come from one of the translations that have appeared in the last 30 years or so. I was happy to see them because maybe the Bible version they used points Jill to modern teachings in companion books.
  19. I like the show, unrealistic as it is.... such as the Secretary of State sitting in the back of the room, giggling, at a funeral, then making plans for drinks later. In what world would a Secretary of State female wear a black bra under a white shell, and then a thin white sweater at home? I could see her college daughter doing that, but her, really? It distracted from the serious conspiracy conversation they were having about her deceased friend.
  20. I haven't seen any rudeness or trash-talking on the part of the white team, so Laura must be a sore loser. The sideline pick was not good reasoning. Just because someone has been the biggest loser, doesn't mean they will continue. In fact, sometime they hit a wall, and would be a good pick. I think Jen overstepped her role in the game, she's not supposed to interfere in strategy and challenges. However, I will admit that I get tired of one team winning all the time. I like Comeback Canyon. It's a better way of bringing someone back than sending them home and brining them back later. I think they probably get a lot of one on one education and training there that will better prepare them to go home, and lose weight. Blake is an immature 18 year old as opposed to some of the ones that have been on in past seasons. She giggles and bats her lashes, and she annoys me.... but I think she will grow up to be a very nice person. Rob is still defeated, as is Matt. Matt will really benefit from the Comeback Canyon week. However, I think he should kick his girlfriend to the curb when he goes home. Threatening to leave him if he doesn't lose weight doesn't show love to me.
  21. I really can't be too offended by a 'driving is a privilege that has to be earned' comment, as long as it relates to 1.driving skills. 2. reading ability (traffic signs), 3. vision or medical issues, 4. maturity to make good choices. In Alabama, you can get your instruction permit at 14. I think most parents are cautious in letting their children take a 3400 lb car out on the road by themselves. I am offended by the fact that they used a school parking lot to set up their derby, when schools are too evil for them. I am offended by the fact that 20-some year olds were not asked but just expected to spend their day being scorekeepers, etc. I am offended by Jim Bob not letting JD build ramps without trying to tell him how even after stating that JD was a 'pretty good carpenter'. He's not a 12 year old using those tools, worry about the actual 12 year olds. Why not enter an actual soap box derby with other people.....similar to Josh entering an actual 5K race rather than setting up a fake one to be filmed.
  22. That was not a closed road course. There were cars coming down it towards them. Sorry, not an appropriate use of a public official, or a squad car. And, also, totally scripted.... listen to all the comments about there being a police officer up ahead. Jim Bob and Michelle are not trained marriage counselors. They've never had any type of training in that at all. The exercise, done as part of a pre-marriage counseling by a trained professional, may have been helpful... but this is just being silly for a show. Jessa was correct, they had it easier because of the extra give in the two sets of handcuffs. Glad to see that the 4 young adults are properly embarrassed by this spectacle. I think given enough time, Derick, Ben,and whomever comes along for the other girls could actually make a difference. At some point, there will be enough of them to band together. Why is Anna dressed like a fashion queen to be on the side of a race? How about dressing to fit in with your companions?
  23. The Jueb's were on some special 'Kids by the Dozen', and have been photographed with the Duggars at various functions (and mentioned as 'Very Good Friends'. My understanding is that the wife had two children prior to being with this husband (can't remember that backstory), but they have 14 together. The oldest had a child out of wedlock, and was shunned for quite some time before they remembered the story of the prodigal son and 'forgave ' her. However, given the blog comments, it seems she has fallen out of favor again now. When your 4 oldest daughters are all shunned because they chose to be adults and discover their own beliefs and values rather than hold to yours,.... that's pretty telling, don't you think? I read the last few blog entries, and I recognize that kind of old-style parenting, where the belt and fist are daily happenings.
  24. Much better Castle. Castle engaged in the story, with his crazy theories. Alexis being by her Dad's side, Lani with Esposito, Ryan obsessing about family. Yes, a win for a change.
  25. I don't remember Jill actually saying 'quit your job'. I remember the TH regarding 'how much time is acceptable to be away from your spouse', and Derick saying 'enough time to work'. Jill said 'not really acceptable'. I think she was just being all 13-year-old about missing him during that time, not actually saying 'quit your job'. I think she is probably right now finding out how nice it is for your spouse to come home from work and be home then. For all JB's and Michelle's 'work for yourself' comments about being time for family.... JB probably works on/and off 24 hours a day. He has real-estate, rentals, There is always some issue going on with those, unless you have a management company doing it for you. I don't think he really spends any more time a day (other than filming) with his family than anyone else does.
