  1. In the book, they transcribe The Book into notecards to try to place them in order. The prophecies are random and don't make sense out of order. I think burning the sequel effectively prevents a season 2. Pratchett and Gaiman never wrote a sequel I think purposefully, and if they didn't do it in the last 30 years, I don't think Gaiman would do it on his own, out of respect for Pratchett.
  2. book reader, long time fan, watched 2 eps and am loving it. There are few quibbles - nothing important was left out or changed drastically, I think the voiceover works well but I was surprised they went american on God. I didn't love Anathema's big round glasses, they looked non-functional and plain specs would have done. Aziraphale and Crowley are pretty near perfect.
  3. If they are really going for the firefly courtesan reference, Ray could have rescued them by claiming everyone is his servant, or display his knowledge of bow and arrow and pick off the enemy, or as the ship is overrun, look longingly and conflictedly at some poison.
  4. Likely not just due to number of years (although she may have been mid/late twenties in the original show, so +10 makes her mid/late thirties, not so unusual) but due to number of abortions, diseases, and all around bad treatment she'd had over those years. I liked the movie. Coming off a convenient marathon of season 3 (good planning HBO) I wished they wouldn't have wasted precious time on flashbacks (a 10 minute "previously on" would have sufficed) and thought sneaky suspicious new whore Caroline was going to assassinate someone. Loved when Mrs. Ellsworth won the auction, but not sure why Hearst gave up. Surely $7000 was still couch cushion money for him. Unless perhaps he realized she ultimately was richer than he? How? Not sure why N* general was still vagabond, I'd assumed he'd be running the livery?
  5. Boomer's grandma is redeemed. I take back my harsh words. Rio, however should have been dead. I knew he wasn't because Turner wasn't completely grateful to Beth. Someone saves your life, you don't tease that you'll rat them out over it. Beth starting to counterfeit is completely stupid. Bonnie who posted ^ that she should open a bakery, now that would be smart.
  6. While I think the premise of the show is these girls bumbling into crime, they aren't bumbling so much as idiots. They keep digging deeper because they are stupid and don't learn. I would much prefer the show show them learning. Even Nancy Botwin learned. Burying the cash in the backyard in the first place. Where Dean knew about it. Didn't Rio make a whole point of showing them how to get a storage locker?!? Ruby and Beth letting teenagers girlfriend pull a gun on them because they failed to get away with their reclaimed cash due to petty bickering. Like, bicker later, dummies! I would have jumped that girl to keep that hard earned money. Ruby dumping the canada loot; Annie hiding the stuff in the cooler was lame though the show thought it was clever. Ruby thinking she could pass 30g counterfeit to a LAWYER. burying the body in the garden on their own property; hello STORAGE LOCKER or even just moving it to a different container in the grocery freezer. Turner is most definitely dirty, in the ends justify the means way. Intimidating a witness, planting evidence, all not good things.
  7. fuck boomer being alive, and fuck that sweet old lady guilting annie.
  8. That was a really excellent video, too bad the show didn't show us more of this.
  9. there are lots of good reasons dany could have had for torching KL. Drogon gets hit by arrows, or townspeople throwing pitchforks, or cersei fake-surrendering (ring the bells, then attack anyway). I was expecting a fake surrender. Not sold on the crazy dany, unless somehow Varys was feeding her "go suddenly murderous" juice.
  10. ugh. While I enjoyed the opening attack on kings landing, breaking the gates etc, nearly everything after that was BS. Disappointed in how they wrote dany, even if they say they laid the groundwork for it, agree with all who say it wasn't earned. Re: winter: It was snowing when Jamie left Kings Landing to head north and keep his promise to fight whitewalkers. Varys deserved a speech, warning her of this outcome. No one did anything to stop her going crazy, because D&D wanted crazy. I do wonder if Varys's notes got anywhere, and was the girl trying to poison Dany or ? When Varys took off his rings I totally thought he was leaving them for a little bird, knowing his gig was up. I was rooting for Jaime to break Cersei's neck, all those loving closeups of his hand on her check and neck. Then once it was clear they were trapped, no point I suppose. not very satisfying either way.
  11. interestingly enough, in this scene a dragon can fly out of water.
  12. I liked this episode, implausibilities aside. Some fun moments.
  13. I was waiting for Gendry to be all "I didn't mean "a lady" like that, I like you how you are. You can be you, just with me?" but he's not glib with words, that one. He should have held the proposal until cersei was dead. Then, maybe Arya can think of the future. I could see them married but hiring a chatelaine to run the household.
  14. Exactly. So if I were her, I'd keep my maiden name so I'd match my "professional" one. So Sampson is likely not her married name.
  15. Susan likely has multiple degrees, earned probably before marriage. For that, I would expect her to be one of those who keep her maiden name, because a) patriarchy, and b) changing all those degrees to a married name, and back again, is a PITA.
  16. Sansa is the last of the Starks; Arya fully intends to go out with a bang; Jon is a targaryan, And Mr. 3eyed raven is good for nothing now. I don't fault Sansa at all for thinking practically. She was raised by Catelyn to know how to run a house. Dany doesn't know about logistics like that. Destiny means not having to know how many sheaves of wheat an army of 5000 needs for the winter. Anyway, they are really rushing and cramming things in, which makes deaths like dragon and missendre seem pointless.
  17. Aaaaand Jon just rehomed Ghost without any goodbye, so much for the mystical bond. He's losing his best ally. But, at least ghost will live!
  18. ^ it was discussed elsewhere, arya stole the wench face from the faceless man temple. She made an effort not to kill innocents (frey wives, children, wenches) I don't think Faceless men can mimic the 3eyed raven. The Night King can sense Bran via the weirwood wifi. Arya could not duplicate that.
  19. I actually found myself craving this show this week. Ah, after a long tense episode of Game of Thrones, and other stressful crap in my life, give me one hour of bubblegum spy show with witty banter! Then: love interest dies. Show is mopey. Although VengeanceWill is intense and the fight scenes are again great, too much moping and I feel like they are playing their plot cards before the dealer calls. Could have used a few more episodes of just, you know, missions.
  20. what if Dany takes her dragons to the iron bank? You suppose the Night King had a stash of gold somewhere? 😄
  21. I kind of like the symbolism of this scene: Compared to the scene of ned finding Lyanna on her deathbed. Rescuing pups.
  22. Ghost: survived E0803. He charged with the Dothraki, but I could swear I saw him in the crypt later. Anyone else? Nymeria: Anyone think she will come to kings landing, or was Arya's encounter on the road the last goodbye? Any of the others survive? Bran's: maybe? doubtful. Robb's: no Sansa's Lady: no Rickon's Dog: no
  23. When doing a search for, say, "direwolf" you get a list of places where it's mentioned, and the chat icon to the right seems to indicate you could go to that post, but it does not link anywhere. The only link is to the thread that contains the post, which in a multipage thread, defeats the purpose of searching.
  24. Jon does not want to be king. Some might say that makes him ideal then...
  25. so good. all of them. hbo must have kicked themselves multiple times over before redeeming themselves greenlighting this.
