  1. Skate America is at the new home of the Skating Club of Boston in Norwood, MA, which is part of the Greater Boston Area.
  2. I'm baaaack! Week 32: 1/5 Week 33: 0/5 Pitiful, but my excuse is that I was vacationing in a country (Ireland) where I had Bailey's on porridge for breakfast, Guinness in candy, and Irish Coffee all day long. Who could concentrate on Final Jeopardy?
  3. Dance seems to change the elements every year. I was confused by all the slides on the ice everyone did last year until I read that "choreographed slides" were added as an element. Also, my reading of the changes is that the Seniors will still do a pattern, just that they get to choose which pattern they will do within the required Rhythm (which is Latin). If I'm right, that kind of defeats the purpose of the pattern, which was having everybody doing the same moves so they could be judged on who did them best (like figures). Very confusing! I'm convinced that only 10 people in the world understands the scoring in Dance.
  4. You Sadducee! (Sorry, this very question appears in the Gospels. The answer given is basically that the dead are transformed in the afterlife to a whole different existence with no husbands and wives. But I'm sure the Pearsons would speechify their way to a special exemption.)
  5. I'm fanwanking that the picture is for Kevin with just his immediate family (although why Eli, I don't know. Maybe they've become like brothers). Later there would be a picture with the Randall Pearson family where the three girls replace Madison, Eli, and the twins (if the girls were allowed out of the Witness Protection Program). I've seen lots of strange family arrangements for wedding photos. Sometimes it's the only time you can get everyone in a certain group together dressed up for a family picture. The photographers don't mind; more photos they can sell.
  6. Back in the dark ages of my youth (about the same time period we are now seeing on the show), "good girls" didn't use tampons because supposedly they broke the hymen, thereby taking away your virginity (or at least the proof thereof).
  7. 2/5, no * I won't be posting my scores for the next two weeks until May 2. I'm going on an oft-postponed trip to Ireland, Covid permitting. Keep my spot warm for me!
  8. There's the surprise ending. It's the year 2060. Famous rock star Jack Damon gets a mysterious summons to the death bed of a rich old man. The man explains that, when he was born on August 31, 1980, a nurse at a maternity ward in a Pittsburgh hospital was aware of a wealthy woman who had just had a stillborn child and was desperate for a son. The nurse, knowing that a poor woman had just given birth to triplets, told the doctor that one of the boys had died (the youngest who had medical complications that the poor family couldn't afford to have treated) and smuggled the child out of the delivery room and gave him to the wealthy woman. Due to their financial resources, the baby was successfully treated and lived to take over the family's highly profitable kitchen appliance business, which included crock pots and smokers. Later the man discovered the truth but only on his death bed did he decide to reach out to his birth family. The man concludes: "Yes, Jack, I am your Uncle Kyle. Tell me, what happened to my parents and siblings? " So Jack sits down and says " I'm not sure if I've got it all straight but..."
  9. I'm a wedding coordinator and that's still the case. There are usually pictures of the bride and groom with the bride's family only, the bride and groom with the groom's family only, the bride and groom with the wedding party only, and every other combination you can think of. The picture above looks like the photographer is just getting people in place for the actual picture. Too many gaps otherwise.
  10. I thought that the change in history was Renee not going on the Europa mission. But Talinn said Renee was safely in quarantine, so there should be nothing to stop her from going, especially in light of Picard's pep talk. What was once wrong has been set right. Shouldn't the time breach been corrected and the crew from the future be swept back to where they were before Q intervened?
  11. Do we know Sophie is married at Kate's engagement party? I admit that I didn't see her. Did someone actually say that the man with her was her husband?
  12. Is the show going to do a time jump for the last episodes? We've basically gone from Thanksgiving 2021 to Kate's wedding in 2025 or so in "Katoby." It looks like next week's episode is at the wedding. I can't see us going back to present day (2022) and living through what was summarized in this episode. So apparently we're going to skip over what happened to Kevin, Randall and Beth, and all the kids during this time and start anew from Kate's second wedding. Or maybe we'll stay in present time with Kevin, Randall, et al, and we won't see Kate and Toby except in cameos until the last episode (an outcome devoutly to be wished!)
  13. Aw, Bishop! Damn you, Chris Noth, for your actions that required the elimination of one of my favorite characters. And if TPTB are trying to mollify me by adding some CIA eye candy, well, it might be working.
  14. PBS must hate Tim. They always seem to cut scenes involving him.
  15. Thank you all for educating me. I was confused by the show calling Bernard a "meth drinker" and then showed him looking more like an alcoholic. I assumed that the "meth" referred to was methamphetamine, as in Breaking Bad, not a form of alcohol. Reading the above, it all makes more sense to me.
  16. 4/5. I wasn't even in the right part of the world with Friday's answer. The Dutch certainly got around.
  17. Note to TPTB re previews: No, we have not all been waiting for Bash and Maggie to make out.
  18. So where were Bailey and Ellis all day? Even if they were in school, they would get home some time and need dinner and supervision. Or maybe Linc was watching them since he didn't appear in this episode, He probably was also watching Luna while Jo was burning the midnight oil studying. Must be nice to have kids who can fend for themselves when you're busy doing something else.
  19. Even women with children. Years ago I had a client who had 5 children by the time she was 25. She begged to have her tubes tied when she delivered her 5th child, but the (male) doctor refused, saying she was too young for the procedure and Medicaid wouldn't cover it.
  20. According to an interview of Mariah with Philip Hersh, Raf was too worn out from Olympics to travel and Adam had other commitments. Which is kind of shitty of Raf. I’m sure he would have been there if Nathan competed. Yay for Vincent Zhou taking bronze! He deserves it after such an up and down year. And yay to Camden for securing three places for Men in next year’s Worlds.
  21. And the US is guaranteed 3 spots at next year's Worlds. Not bad for Alysa to medal at her first senior Worlds.
  22. Ashley seemed very tense from the beginning of the skate. I don't know if it was nerves, but I am wondering if something happened in warm-ups or even backstage before they went on. If it was nerves and not a physical injury before they started, I'm sure each missed jump just made her body tighten up more. But I really think something was wrong before she went out on the ice. How terrifying for her parents, who are also her coaches, to see her out down on the ice. But how wonderful for Ashley that they could be right there for her.
  23. Hard to be excited about winning a gold medal at Worlds when you see a teammate go down.
