  1. It was yet another case of Grey's "let's dumb down our doctors to prop the new character" with a dash of "orgasm talk is funny and sexy!!". Fail.
  2. Isn't one of the other Shepherd sisters a doctor? I would much rather have them guest starring and hanging around the hospital than Andrew's horny sister.
  3. I don't like that Amelia's had her tumor for that long. Wanting to retcon her character since she came on Grey's is one thing, but to suggest that her entire onscreen existence on PP was affected by this, too, is such a cop-out. The thing about Derek's mortality rate vs. Amelia's is measured on an unfair bar seeing as Derek spent more time at SGH/GSM than Amelia has. She's only been there a few years, and Richard specifically said "since you've been at this hospital". Carina Deluca's shiny new toy charm has already worn off. Dr. Minnick set the bar very low, so anyone compared to her is going to seem better by default, but I feel like her and Arizona are mismatched. I'm really loving Bailey this season. She's gotten out of her unlikable funk without having to have a brain tumor to excuse it. I can't help but think what Cristina would've done or how she would've reacted if she was there when Harper Avery died. I really miss her.
  4. Remember when Arizona wasn't shallow? I guess the writers are going to keep shoehorning her into relationships until one awkwardly and forcefully fits enough. Very happy to see Dr. Minnick gone, and while Carina Deluca isn't the worst, she's far from great. The Deluca's speaking in Italian is going to get old real quick. I wish they did more with Teddy. I wanted more Teddy. It was great to have Kim Raver back, and I would've liked to have seen her interacting with Bailey and maybe even have had an Arizona, Bailey, Teddy scene at the bar or something. They used to have girls nights. Speaking of shallow, Alex/Justin is looking so good! It was nice that Alex and Jo got to communicate for once. April was great in both hours. The zeroes, I loved that Alex called the sub-interns that, are annoying. I'm just not invested in Meredith and Nathan enough to even pretend to care about the love triangle. I would prefer Meredith cut her losses and focus on other things.
  5. He was an anesthesiologist for a long time and they make bank. I'm sure he's not in debt, and his wife is the Chief of Surgery at a hospital so they aren't hurting for money. ABC is committed to the spin-off for at least one season, and since Shonda has jumped ship to Netflix, I'm sure the bar of ratings performance has been set low enough for any remaining and upcoming Shondaland series to be given at least a couple seasons on the network. JMO
  6. Uh, she got fired. Seems pretty cut-and-dry. That's already far more of a sendoff and closure than Erica ever got. Heck, she got more screen time in her last episode than Callie "been on the show for 10 years" Torres.
  7. Seriously, another sister? This is getting ridiculous with everyone's siblings popping up. And no one has a brother? I'm all for learning a bit more about Deluca, but not if it means adding yet another new character to an over-bloated cast. I know I know, every time someone leaves they add five more so this isn't new. But it's getting annoying. It's so obvious. TPTB have replaced "teaching consultant" with "Deluca's sister" as the means to bring the character on, when the real motivation is "love interest for Arizona". Looks like Arizona's storyline for season 14 will be a repeat of season 13. Too bad they can't give her something else to do, like being a doctor and a mentor.
  8. That was actually Ellen and Justin out having dinner. Camilla was with them.
  9. I agree, especially Arizona. Aside from her relationship with Callie (and hate them or love them, they fit together), Arizona is great independently. Give her another resident to mentor, she did so well with Alex. And nurture her friendships with both Alex and April, Grey's used to do so well with the friendships. The forced relationship with Minnick did more harm than good to Arizona. She let Minnick talk crap about her friends and coworkers, and was rude or dishonest to the people who have had her back (Richard, April) because of her. The Arizona who came on all those years ago would've never let that fly. Trying to prop Minnick up ended up bringing Arizona down, IMO. I still think that April and Jackson will eventually end up together, and that the show is just playing long ball with them like they are with Alex and Jo. Forced romantic pairings benefit no one in the end. It makes the characters look bad and the storytelling uninteresting.
  10. IF Minnick sticks around, it will for sure be because of the Foley factor and nothing more. The character fell flat and is, in my opinion, beyond redemption. There is no chemistry between her and Arizona despite how much they've twisted Arizona to force the pairing. Viewers despise the character, and not in the love-to-hate kind of way. I've never read so many people happy about a character's firing and potential exit, save for maybe Penny in season 12. And, yes, the performance leaves a lot to be desired. At least Brooke Smith had the chops, and she made what was supposed to be an unlikable character interesting if nothing else. And if tptb can so abruptly let go of Erica Hahn/Brooke Smith, then there is no reason why Minnick shouldn't be Hahn'd in this situation. So, yeah, if she's back next season it's because she's a Foley, and Shonda will continue to ram Minnick and Arizona/Minnick down our throats regardless of "chemistry" (the reason Brooke Smith was fired, btw) and unlikability.
  11. Those seasons are Emmy award winning compared to what we've gotten the past few years.
  12. No confirmation, but Bailey said: "I don't believe there's a place for you in my hospital any longer." So hopefully that eliminates any possibility of her getting her job back or any other position at the hospital. The character is so far beyond the opportunity for redemption or likability that bringing her back will just irritate viewers more. IMO
  13. I'm glad Stephanie survived and made the choice to leave. They should've never underutilized Jerrika's talent all these years. She did a wonderful job in her final episode. "If this were Derek, I would already be gone." Yeah you would, Meredith. Though I'm sure a trite and recycled love triangle is upon us, as someone who isn't a fan of the Meredith/Nathan pairing, I hope that at some point this back-and-forth relationship is put to bed. If Meredith's not going to end the series with Derek, I always envisioned it'd be Cristina by her side. I don't need Meredith to find "love" again, I got to enjoy 11 seasons of that. What was the point of Jackson and April hooking up in their very special bottle episode if nothing was going to come of it and they were building towards Jackson/Maggie? They didn't need to have the one to do the other. I guess season 14 will have two love triangles... Miranda Bailey is back! Firing Dr. Minnick is the best thing to have happened this season, and the best decision she's made. I hope it sticks and she's gone for good. What a waste of screentime she was.
  14. I wonder if they also think that Grey's is a ship that basically runs itself at this point. (surely, Shonda is not as involved.) Season 13 was a travesty. In all these years, I've never looked forward to hiatus as much as I do now. We'll see what season 14 has in store with former head writer Krista Vernoff back in the driver's seat.
  15. Riggs and Megan were engaged, not married. However, he spoke of her like she was the love of his life, that's what was supposed to have bonded him and Meredith in that they both lost their "great loves". The conference Alex went to was in Los Angeles. Did they say if the ex husband lived in Seattle, because I do not recall but admittedly I may have missed it. Meredith better not be pregnant. I'm sorry, but after everything Meredith and Derek went through on their journey together, this would be a huge middle finger to all of that. Meredith has three (that we rarely see), she doesn't need anymore. This show is already in daytime soapsville territory, but that's taking it too far IMO. Meredith has known Nathan for 5 seconds in comparison.
  16. "Alex Stevens", I guffawed. Richard talking to Stephanie as if she's always been some temperamental flight risk is ridiculous seeing as Owen continues to walk the hospital halls sans suspension, and his temper is at a steady 8 on a calm day. I can not take Dr. Minnick seriously as having any authority over anyone. What an unnecessary character. Meredith already introducing Nathan to her kids? I mean, that's not fast at all. Between them, and Arizona's most unfortunate new relationship, the writers seem to be fast-tracking these pairings. Brooke Stadler. It only took a calendar year to get there. To the surprise of no one, Megan is alive. The recycled Meredith/Derek/Addison triangle is upon us. Contacting Teddy in Germany was a nice bit of continuity, I'll give them that.
  17. If Stephanie's privileges have been revoked, then why is she even near a patient? Or is it that she can't perform surgery but can continue doing rounds? Either way, if Stephanie gets killed off but Minnick lives to see another day, I will be bothered.
  18. Owen's sister/Nathan's fiance has been presumed dead all these years (and by that I mean since Owen joined the show in season 5). It's been made apparent on a few occasions that they've been living their lives with the notion that Megan Hunt has died. Not that the show can't retcon, because they seem to like doing that nowadays, but that would be the least-shocking thing.
  19. Arizona skipping into that elevator like she doesn't have a prosthetic leg. Okay... Dr. Minnick is horrible, and it is reinforced for me every time she is on screen. She leaves Stephanie hanging after her stupid "method" killed a child, and now she has the audacity to throw Stephanie under the bus. Stephanie was painted as the best resident in that bunch, and now she gets treated like this. It's the age-old "when an actor leaves, we drag the character down to help build the new/remaining characters up" shtick that Grey's has the propensity to do. I feel like Meredith's closing voice over was a not so subtle way of the writers telling us all to get on board with the new couples/"change". No thanks!
  20. That's the intention for every season finale, to launch new stories for the next season. But good to know that Jo won't be MIA for the final episodes, that makes sense seeing as her ex (Matthew Morrison) is showing up. Thank you for sharing.
  21. Alex is advocating for the patient, like he has since the very beginning of his Peds career. Arizona even applauded him for it back in season 5 when she told him he was the future of the hospital. I think it's very in line with his character, and I'm happy to see that the writers can at least keep this consistent, since they lack consistency almost everywhere else now.
  22. I'm glad Maggie clarified that it isn't about Nathan, and that it's about Meredith not being honest with her. Meredith had plenty of opportunities to talk to Maggie about it way before her mother died, the season premiere the most obvious when Maggie gave her an opening to speak up. Meredith chose not to say anything and instead played annoying schoolyard push-pull with Nathan. Glad this nonsense is finally out there, Meredith and Nathan are hardly anything to swoon over anyway. Alex and Arizona working together was nice, they are one of the many ignored duos on the show. Once again, Minnick was not missed.
  23. I don't blame her. As much as I love Addison, the show is a different Grey's Anatomy than the one she was a part of.
  24. Meredith being pregnant and having Nathan's baby would be a slap in the face. It's not necessary, and I really hope the show never goes there.
