  1. I'm 45 minutes away from Atlantic City but I have zero interest in seeing this. If he was just doing the show as a DJ, I could see people wanting to attend though I don't know if I'm into the type of music he plays. But stripping? Ugh.
  2. I'm taping them too! Forgot how much I loved this show, used to watch all the time when my kids were little, after they went to bed but I never finished the entire series. I think I watched through the 8th season. I remember that Benton used to get on my nerves, but now all these years later, he doesn't seem so bad after all. Maybe I've mellowed out now I'm in my 50's. I also loved watching William Macy on here, and wish he'd been a regular. Doesn't look like Anthony Edwards had too much of a career after he left this show.
  3. How many surgeries does Tracey need for her legs? I only remember seeing the one done. Was it going to be another 5 or 6 times? Sounds like it was extremely painful for her. I wish she could have had something done sooner and hope she is doing well now.
  4. Thank you all so much! I'm in NJ and I think we're the only state in which you cannot donate your body to science. We do have some strange laws in my state. But I do wonder what it would be like to examine a 600 lb body after death. Finding out a cause of death might be more difficult because of the mass the medical student has to work with. I've heard of med students becoming somewhat attached to the cadavers they work with because they use them for an extended period of time, weird as that might sound. Back on topic, does anyone know of a social media for James? How is he doing physically? Has he lost or gained any weight or has he just disappeared into the background? I've seen Nicole on FB. She might be making this show into a second career.
  5. This show really has gotten me interested in healthy eating. I do wonder if James will ever come to the realization that this is well within his control. It will be hard but if he gets some counseling (wonder why we didn't see that), it might be very helpful. And for those of you following my breast cancer journey, I had my lumpectomy 10 days ago and am doing well, Cancer did not spread to the lymph nodes and it is all gone now. I need to do radiation treatments, possibly chemotherapy based on testing, but I'm thrilled at the results I received today. back on topic, what will James's wake up call be? It seems like he has somewhat of a desire to lose weight, he just doesn't have his mind in the right place. Hope if he comes back on the show, both he and Lisa go to counseling.
  6. I also have to wonder how long the weight loss really lasts. Most people end up regaining at least half of their excess weight over a period of time. Some of the people featured seem , at least in my opinion, overly concerned about their appearance. And skin removal surgery will leave huge scars, not to mention how much time that they have to take off work in order to recover from these surgeries.
  7. One thing I'll admit that this show does for me is to force me to look at my own life and not feel sorry for myself, no matter what the circumstances. Last month I was diagnosed with early stage breast cancer and this past Tuesday I had surgery to remove the lump, and I'll have radiation for a few weeks starting in a month- hopefully no chemotherapy will be needed. Seeing somebody like James, who put himself into this condition by his own behavior, acting so entitled and whiny really gets on my last nerve. If there was any way I could have prevented my cancer, I definitely would have done so. James is so many years into his behavior and addiction that he's beyond hope, and Dr. Now recognized that over the course of his visits with James. I have to wonder why Lisa didn't make any attempt to stop him along the way- it sounds like they've been together now almost 25 years. The one thing I think might be a bit harsh is when Lisa is taking the brunt of James's weight gain. Yes, she brings him the food, but it is his choice to either eat it or refuse. She isn't forcing him to overeat as far I could see. In her own sick way, she thinks she's making him happy, probably not realizing she's feeding his addiction.
  8. I thought about this episode later on and I believe Dr. Now didn't want to operate on James, not only because he hadn't made any attempt to lose weight, but also because he knew he was seriously unhealthy and very likely might not even survive the surgery. I watched the Skin Tight episode following it tonight and the one man wasn't allowed to get the skin removal surgery due to a heart condition (which he did have surgery for), even though that man had lost over 250 lbs. If one of Dr. Now's patients ever died after surgery- and I'm sure it may have happened somewhere in the past- would the family try to sue him and hold him responsible for it?
  9. I DVR'd this episode and only watched the first 45 minutes. James is going to die, I can just see it now. I'll watch the rest tomorrow as I'm home recovering from surgery but it's going to be a struggle. What a horror show this is. How much older is Lisa than him? She already had 4 kids and they met when he was only 20? I'm amazed he's lived to age 46 in his condition. Totally shocked he hasn't yet already died. I also saw a GoFundMe account from Nicole a couple of weeks ago. I do have to wonder if they get paid to be on this show or if just the medical stuff is covered. People were calling her out on it, telling her to go and get a job instead of begging on Facebook for money.
  10. Didn't Billy have weight loss surgery years ago? I wonder how old he is now- I'm guessing around 22. Will Dr. Now perform another surgery on him? I remember he was 17 the first time on that show Half Ton Teen. He did fairly well for awhile anyway.
  11. Does anyone know if Colin is permanently out of the Gosselin home? I'm assuming he's at a boarding school for troubled adolescents. Will he stay there until he graduates high school and does he come home for visits? Could Jon visit him at this school? He probably won't be featured on the show at all anymore, assuming that it continues. I have no idea how the ratings were this past season, I only watched the New Orleans episodes to see the city I visited with my husband in the early 90's.
  12. I'd like to see an update on people from previous seasons. I posted this on the other thread but the one with Nikki Webster, the wardrobe specialist, looks amazing in her Facebook photos. It would help keep people motivated, I think, if they can see that it's possible to lose and keep off significant amounts of weight over the long term.
  13. I decided to go back and watch one of my favorite episodes from last season, the one with Nikki Webster, the costume/wardrobe coordinator. My gosh, she now looks AMAZING!!! She has stated she only shows selfies of her face as she is still under contract and filming, but she was the one who lost 207 lbs in her first year- from about 650 to 443 or so. She is probably around 300 lbs at this point, maybe less. Her face looks totally different than it did in the show though she does still have the red hair- she's gorgeous! I believe she was 33 when she started and it does seem like the younger people can not only take off weight faster, they overall look much younger once they've lost a significant amount of weight. Less like to have the sagging skin, at least on their faces. Go watch if you want to see an inspiring story.
  14. I'm thinking that Jim Bob isn't pushing his sons into courtships because he realizes he'd have to support another wife and growing family, a la Josh and Anna and their 4 kids. The only one right now who seems to be truly independant of the Duggars is Jinger. Jeremy gets paid for the show but he has a legitimate job in that he's a pastor of a small church with a regular paycheck and doesn't have to live in one of the Duggar households. Jim Bob would be better off making sure his sons succeed in a business and can be independant of him before they marry. That said, I think John is the only one right how who has the potential to support and wife and family of his own since he appears to work out of the house and I'm not sure it's all related to Duggar businesses- but I could be wrong.
  15. Just for fun, I went and looked at Whitney's original video she put on YouTube from 2014, called "A Fat Girl Dancing", which shows her and Todd dancing together. It's only a little over a minute long. She looks to be around the same size there as she is now, possibly a little smaller. However, I did notice that in the 2014 video she appears to be moving around more easily overall. I'm not sure exactly how much time she has practiced dancing since her television show started.
  16. Is Dr. Now really the only doctor in the US who operates on 600 lb patients? I remember reading elsewhere that the weight limit of most patients is in the 450-500 lb range. Then again, how many people can there be of this size in the country? How long can they live without the surgery? I know Nicole is the youngest participant this season and it was really shocking to see that she was already nearly 700 lbs at only 23 years old. Had she not had it, could she have reached 1000 lbs and died in a couple of years?
  17. I'm really starting to wonder if the producers are making up storylines just to keep the show going. The whole pregnancy storyline was exaggerated. Then this Dance Battle with her competitor- can't remember her name, but didn't Todd say he kind of loved her? Maybe he does because she's challenged Whitney in a way few others have managed to do. Now the lesbian storyline. It seems forced and fake too. It seems very possible that Amanda is a paid actress. I don't know if I'm up for the rest of the season quite honestly.
  18. The family dynamics in this episode were truly awful. She would have been better off leaving her home in her early teens- wasn't there anybody else, a grandmother, aunt, who could have cared for her? Drug addict parents, homelessness- how in the world did she even manage to weigh 400 lbs when they were homeless? Do soup kitchens supply enough food at mealtime to keep a person at that weight? One question I'm almost afraid to ask, but it's been on my mind- at that weight, how is it physically possible to have sex? I almost can't believe there is any way for that to happen given the size of her stomach, etc. Also, isn't fertility almost non-existent in people of this size? I'm shocked that not only she got pregnant, but she was able to sustain both pregnancies. And the kids are by 2 different men. Good grief. I know quite a few divorced women who complain it's hard to get a date and they weigh maybe 180 lbs. How many men can there be who are attracted to a women who weighs 500-600 lbs?
  19. I remember first seeing Rose Leslie on Downton Abbey. I've always liked her in that show and in Game of Thrones. The rest of the cast looks interesting. I am beyond annoyed it is only available on CBS access- our cable bill along with internet and phone is already $230 a month, I can't justify paying this too ;(
  20. That was really weird but I guess I understand the point that they were trying to make. Though overall I see this show as a comedy, I'm quite a bit older than the target audience so I suppose I see things differently. Just my basic instincts- never go to anyone's home alone, period. Meet in public. And if anything starts sounding creepy or weird, leave immediately. That all said, I don't think it would even be possible for me to have the kind of conversation that Hannah went there to have with him. And yes, he is a creep and took advantage of her by preying on her. It's the same as if he'd exposed himself in public. Nothing confusing about it, that was pretty clear to me. A sick power play.
  21. My DVR set for next week shows the episode will be 3 hours long but it is including skin removal surgery for 2 patients. I don't think I recognize the names, are they all originally patients from the 600 lb life or are they other patients from Dr. Now's practice? I do remember a series called Skin Tight and I don't think it was the same group of people who we've already seen. Though 3 hours is going to take me a couple of days to watch all of it.
  22. Agree this episode should have been at most one hour- or, if they continue with the 2 hour format, please, less backstory and more about what happens later on. I'd have rather they showed Michael after his skin removal surgery than the traffic jam and the drama with the first rental house. Of all the patients this year, I believe he's the most successful of all. He's got the advantage of being fairly young and being a man as well, they seem to lose faster than woman. Yes, they are his stepkids- I guess both were teenagers. How hard that must have been for them to both leave school and start over in a new state at their age. I do wonder if his wife is quite a bit older than him, given the ages of her kids. It seemed puzzling that she was willing to put up with Michael when she was already working a full time job and raising 2 teenagers and giving in to his food addiction. Assuming she was probably already divorced, I give her a lot of credit for hanging in there with her marriage. Glad to see he finally went back to work and seemed to like his job. In watching him throw the football with his son, I assume he'd probably played it in the past, maybe high school. I think I missed some details about how he said his family asked him to leave at some point, because he didn't get along with his father? Yet his father had been in prison for several years. It also seemed like he had a strong desire to overeat his entire life, let's hope he can hang in there and keep the weight off.
  23. The whole rivalry with the other woman in Whitney's dance class somehow got on my nerves tonight and I ended up fast forwarding through some of it. Buddy does not look good and I also agree with whoever said upthread living with Whitney has not been good for him. She's lost some weight but he's gained quite a bit since the show started. The goofy stuff at the radio station also wasn't interesting to me. Whitney should make some attempt to show us efforts at dieting if she wants to keep interest in her show. I can't believe it'll continue based upon the material that they have right now.
  24. I read on the FB news feed about the new character Taylor, who identifies as neither male nor female. (Non-binary, I think is what is said). This character also says so directly to the first time they meet Axe, should be interesting. Wondering if Rhoades and Wendy will get back together, I'm rooting for them. And this time around I find Axe to be more intriguing and sympathetic than I did last season. Lara is great but the writers need to do a bit more with her character.
  25. I'm starting to wonder if maybe Whitney has taken to overacting on her show in certain instances, like at her party. The whole vibe seemed weird , as if it were rehearsed or something like that. Buddy doesn't look well. He's either sick, drunk or high in certain scenes. If he's also acting, he's not doing a very good job of it. I really think the whole Roy having a crush on Whitney was just contrived for the show.
