  1. Interesting that Josiah says it's a great movie to watch no matter what side of the aisle you're on. Does this mean he accepts people who have pro-choice views? If so, it's the first time I remember a Duggar ever doing so. I'm from South Jersey, lived my entire life 18 miles from Philadelphia and I never heard anything about this doctor or this case. I'm pro-choice but the details sound gruesome and I have no desire to see this movie.
  2. I'm not sure if I missed something, but don't Danielle and Adam also have part ownership in the cycle studio? So if Adam was downsized or quit or whatever, he can't work there instead? The individual outings were cute. Danielle made too big a deal of Adam not being able to be there, imo. By the way, they did the same thing on the Jon and Kate plus 8 show 10-12 years ago, so it's not anything new. It was probably suggested as a storyline by the producers. The Gosselins also went to Hawaii as a family, Jon Gosselin quit his job and then they ended up getting divorced in about season 4 of the show. Really hoping that doesn't happen to the Buzbys.
  3. I'm thinking that this show should really wrap up and go off the air in another year. The girls are 3 now and by the time they get to kindergarten, unless the Busbys plan to homeschool, they are going to get comments/remarks by their classmates. I have to wonder if this is already happening with Blayke. I think the other show, Quints by Surprise wasn't renewed after the second season when they were about 2 1/2. Fame caused a lot of problems for the Gosselin family and most likely the parent's divorce. I'd hate to see it happen to this family.
  4. I remember thinking that of all the Duggar kids, it would be Jill who would be the most likely to adopt a child. She really cared about the orphans when they were on their mission trips and I recall one teen girl asked Jill to take her home with her and Jill was in tears because she couldn't. I still wonder if that's a possibility, international adoption. That said, I'm also wondering if she'll soon be pregnant again. Jill may not be in favor of it but I really doubt Derrick is completely against birth control.
  5. This is Emmy Rossum's final season on the show. I'm not sure I'll be able to watch a season 10 without her. I too like the new Liam, he can really act and has some of the best lines lately. I can't get used to Lip's new buzz cut and I'm trying to figure out why he is so invested in the daughter of a woman who was just a hookup for him. I guess the actress who played her mom isn't back this season but we have the daughter and Lip acting as her foster dad.
  6. Way too much talk about potty training. Those poor girls are going to hate their parents when they get older and watch reruns of the show. I don't watch all the higher multiple shows, but the only other one I remember that focused this much on potty training was the Gosselin family, which even showed the poor kids sitting on potties. I'm with the poster above who said that it can be done in a week or so, just be prepared to stay home and do the reward with the M&Ms or whatever. One of my kids insisted on using the potty with the door closed, he wanted privacy. Both of mine were over 3 and I think the quints are getting close to that age in the show. The quints were also too young to understand the Space museum. it should have been something that Adam just did with Blayke.
  7. I think of all the Duggar daughters, Jinger and Jeremy will have the least number of kids. I guess we'll see but I have a feeling it's going to be no more than 4, In reference to an earlier comment, breast feeding won't prevent breast cancer. I nursed both of mine exclusively for 18 months and 10 months, and developed it at age 53, before I went into menopause. I had surgery and radiation and hopefully am okay now as long as I stay on my hormone blocker prescribed by my oncologist, but there is no guarantee it won't be back someday.
  8. Have we heard any more talk about Jessa and Ben adopting more kids? I was watching a rerun of the early season of Counting On, and it was interesting to hear that both Jill and Jessa were talking about adopting kids, even with both were pregnant. It's now been about 3-4 years and I haven't heard any more about it unless I missed something.
  9. I do have to wonder what is going to happen to some of the Duggar offspring after the show is off the air and Jim Bob is no longer around. They've certainly made a lot of money, but I don't think it will be enough to support the ever growing families as time goes on. It appears that Jim Bob is still supporting Jill and Derrick, even though they are off the show. He's supporting all of his married sons and their families since all of them work for him. I'm thinking maybe Joy is being supported mostly by Austin, but I'll bet they still collect from the Duggar family pot for appearing on the show. Jinger most likely bought their house through money she earned from the show, not on Jeremy's minister salary, which probably couldn't support a nice house like that anyway. Jim Bob seems to be in quite a hurry to now get all of his kids that are legal adults married and starting families in order to keep the show going, but it won't last forever.
  10. I was watching a little of the old episodes of Counting On the other night (too many summer reruns), and I think during the second episode, Jeremy was shown with Ben and Derrick in a grocery store when the guys were buying items to make "baby food" for Jessa and Ben's baby shower. The fact that he was introduced as their friend Jeremy makes me wonder how long he and Jinger knew each other before they started their relationship. It also makes me wonder why Jim Bob seemed a little less enthusiastic about Jeremy compared to Derrick. It had to be Jessa and Ben who introduced Jinger to Jeremy. And I'm wondering if they were already involved when that baby shower was filmed, otherwise, why come all the way from Texas just for that?
  11. Maybe I missed something, but I was just wondering if it was mentioned where Josiah and Lauren are living. Also, is she 18 or 19 ? I can't quite figure out how long he's known her. It seems like all of them are marrying children of the parent's long term friends that they know either from their church or homeschool group.
  12. Okay, I'm confused about Joe and Kendra's house. They got married in September, right? The latest show talks about them fixing up their house. So where were they living after the wedding? Or were they on their honeymoon for a month afterwards? Somehow, I don't think that Joe did all that work himself, even with his brothers helping. Most likely Jim Bob hired some contractors to assist in the remodel.
  13. I have a question about Riley. I missed an episode but I think I remember, wasn't she the first one to climb out of the crib, as well as the first one to be able to tell her teacher something that started with a certain letter? The teacher told Adam and Danielle that she and Parker were ready to move up to the next class. Maybe Riley is taking on a leadership role, so to speak, and is coming across as more "in charge" as she is somewhat more advanced than her sisters. Just my obsservation.
  14. Many of the outfits the quints wear are from Matilda Jane. Joanne Gaines continued the clothing line after the original designer passed away. You can only buy the clothes online from what's called a Trunk Keeper, not available in stores or on Amazon. The clothing line is from Texas. Of all the girl's names, the only one familiar to me is Hazel. My dad's older sister, who passed away 5 years ago at the age of 87. Lovely lady. It seems that some of the more old fashioned names are coming around in popularity again. I have a niece named Emily who's 33 and at the time her name seemed old fashioned. Then I just read that the name Linda is getting popular for babies. I don't know of anyone named Linda, Carol (my name), Diane, Donna, who isn't at least 50 years ago. I'm 55 and another very popular name growing up in my age group was Michele as well as Maria, and Mary. I've never known anyone personally with any of the girl's names. Danielle was very popular about 30-40 years ago .
  15. Oh my. This episode was just sad on so many levels. Poor Dottie. First her son passes away, and then she finally manages to get her skin removal surgery, only to probably be discharged from the hospital into a hotel because her insurance didn't cover a rehab facility as a follow up. Sean reminded me of that teen Billy, of the show Half Ton Teen, and the patterns were very similar. BIlly's mother was doing the same thing, feeding him until he got all the way up to 1000 pounds by age 18. Billy's mom lost a child in infancy and she was likely making sure her Billy would never leave her by getting him to be totally dependent on her. I agree with the others that Sean looked like he's given up at this point. Not getting dressed, not attempting to walk to the bathroom, ordering takeout pizza, he's got to be seriously depressed. And he really has no coping skills, nor does he seem to want to learn any. I don't think he'll be alive in a couple of years, despite that fact that he's young. The show won't go on forever for him and then what will he do in terms of getting medical care?
  16. I liked Brittany better than most of the participants. I did feel sorry for Lupe , especially not being able to walk, but her follow up was boring. By the way, is Brittany really short? I couldn't quite figure out what was going on with her legs. My one friend has lipodema and her legs look a lot like that. She has to wrap them in compression stockings and get treatments on them to get rid of the excess fluid. She told me she developed it as a teenager and it runs in her family. I expected Britanny's legs to look better after Dr. Now did the surgery on them.
  17. I felt really sorry for Nicole. First raised by drug addicted parents, then a failed marriage, I think? Charlie isn't the kids' father, he's her boyfriend from what I remember. Then her father getting arrested and in jail, and finding out he has terminal cancer. Plus, didn't they get evicted to? I'm a little puzzled as to why they couldn't get their own place and stay in Houston, even though she said they couldn't afford it, I don't know that Ohio has a lower cost of living but it had something to do with Charlie's job. I think the therapy finally did help her to the point where she was able to continue losing enough weight to qualify for skin removal, even if we didn't get to see it. She lost over 350 lbs under extraordinary circumstances. Ashley had done really well on Dr. Now's program. Going from 725 lbs to under 300 by the time she had her skin removal surgery is nothing short of remarkable. I believe I heard she had 41 lbs removed from her stomach with the skin removal, my jaw dropped at that number. I actually went back to Comcast on Demand to see the beginning of Ashley's story, and I'd forgotten she too had a drug addict for a mom. They were staying at the babysitter's a lot as kids, and at age 6 she was molested by the babysitter's husband , which went on for years. Then her mother dropped her and her siblings off with their dad when she was 9 and took off. Her mom eventually got clean and came back into her life but was gone for many years. I feel Ashley had a tremendous amount of stress to deal with growing up and I'm really happy for her success.
  18. I think Danielle wasn't ready to let the quints go into beds. My two boys were both out of the crib by their second birthday. It did seem a little crazy that they only bought beds for the twins. Like Adam said, all of them are going to escape eventually. But Danielle doesn't want to listen to Adam, she wants to be in charge. I also don't understand why both of them have to put the twins to bed. You go in, read them a story, cuddle for a little while until they're sleepy and then leave. Within a few days they should make the transition from crib to bed. That tea party with Mimi and Blayke was a bit sad, as she is old enough to remember what it was like to be an only child. Plus, Danielle relies on her to help with the quints. By the time she's a teenager, she's probably going to be out of the house with her friends and into school activities as much as possible. Hopefully her parents won't expect her to be their babysitter.
  19. I'm watching. I like Aly and Josh, was a bit surprised that their one daughter managed to get into a bottle of arthritis medicine. We always had medications locked up when our kids were little. I don't hold out much hope for the couple on the boat, it looks like a disaster. The couple who isn't married seem to get along well but I think the man is being just a little selfish buying a truck without even talking to his girlfriend about it. I don't miss Doug and Mars and are glad they aren't back. They are probably no longer together, imo.
  20. You don't need to be a US citizen to legally marry. My nephew is married to a Chinese woman who came here for grad school, and then after they got engaged, she applied for a fiance visa and they married 3 years ago. So long as you have a green card, you can still stay in the US as far as I know. They do have a little girl now but I'm not sure that has anything to do with his wife's status. I'm not even sure she wants to apply for citizenship. Back to the Affair, I was wondering, is this going to be the final season? It seems to be only a shadow of the original show.
  21. Are we supposed to think that Helen is in her late 40s? I can't quite remember the timeline of this show, but I thought in season 1, she and Noah married right after college, say age 22. It's now supposed to be 6 years later since the original affair with Allison started or is it longer than that? I still wonder how old Vic is supposed to be. Younger than Helen, but I'm not sure by how much. Getting new love interests for Allison and for Noah is just going to make the whole series even more confusing. By the way, is this supposed to be the final season? Are Noah's two oldest kids going to make an appearance at some point?
  22. The show that came on last night was 3 hours long! I ended up fast forwarding through quite a bit of it as it was from previously aired seasons. The birthday party they were referring to was when the quints turned 2 and the older daughter (can't remember her name) was 6. They're 3 and 7 now as of this past April so this is really a long time ago. Hurricane Harvey happened late last August. I can't believe it's taken this long to air. Not sure I'm going to have the patience to tune in and watch 5 toddlers in potty training so hopefully we'll see some more interesting stories.
  23. I know I've mentioned this before, but I do have to wonder why, if Doug was so adamant to give up meat, he didn't consider taking meal replacements, once he cleared it with Dr. Now. I've mentioned elsewhere in these threads that I'm on a 1100-1200 calorie diet using meal replacements from a hospital based weight loss center. My doctor who runs it is a bariatician but she isn't a surgeon. This approach is considered to be the next best thing to weight loss surgery and since I've lost close to 40 lbs since mid-March, I tend to agree. The products I use all contain whey protein concentrate and whey protein isolate, a few contain soy protein isolate. Each product has 27 grams of protein, 10-15 grams of carbs and 6 grams of fat, no matter what it is (soup, shakes, or pudding- the bars are slightly less). I've been on low calorie diets before, and I have to say that being on these replacements seems to satisfy my appetite better than being on just food. I do get one meal of 350 calories a day of 4-5 ounces of protein and 2 non-starchy veggies, which looks very similar to Dr. Now's bariatric diet. Maybe he doesn't have a contract with the company that supplies the products, or they're not allowed to advertise on his show. But if the patients were following it and sticking to it, he'd know how many calories they were taking in. I personally think in many ways it's easier to avoid having too many choices and having to cook while trying to lose weight.
  24. I'm no expert, but I have a vegan niece who I'm very close to. She's in her late 20's. She originally went vegan as a means of controlling her weight, and in fact did lose about 40 lbs in the first couple of years. She's now 28 and has been doing this about 12-13 years. The vegan replacements are a staple for her, and if you look at labels, the vegan burgers and sausage tend to be much lower in fat and calories. Peanut butter is a favorite as well, though I think she uses it more in sauces for stir frys, etc. Beans are also a favorite, all kinds, whether or not it's for soup, salad, or making into homemade hummus. Overall it's likely possible that there are fat vegetarians due to overconsumption of dairy and eggs, but it's probably more difficult to be a fat vegan unless you're eating a lot of junk food like Oreos, Fritos, etc. It seems most people turn vegan for their health and/or for their love of animals. But no one gets to 600 pounds and higher by eating healthy food. Nearly every participant is addicted to fast food, and if they are eating all of their meals at home, chances are they're eating stuff like chips, soda and sweets to account for their abnormal weight gain. But getting back to Doug, I don't understand how he got it into his head about meat being bad for you after he'd already worked with Dr. Now for quite awhile. Wouldn't he have thought to ask the doctor or nutritionist before he tried to go on a vegetarian diet? I think it was mainly an excuse so that he could eat bread again. And I agree that he was much more successful once Ashley was on board. As far as the kids are concerned, they could pretty much eat the same diet as their parents with some small additions and be perfectly healthy. No need to make a separate diet for them. And honestly, Doug being the food addict that he is, it's probably not a great idea for him to be doing meal preparation in the first place. It's most likely one of his triggers to overeat, handling and being around food.
  25. I don't think JD would propose at Josiah's wedding. He's always been so quiet and a man of few words. He doesn't seem like the type who'd want to make a huge spectacle about getting engaged. Then again, in the clip I saw announcing the courtship, that was the happiest I'd ever seen JD. He was literally beaming with joy.
