  1. One thing that's been bugging me about Liam and the private school is that it's being shown that he has to come outside during the prospective parent's tours of the school to show that the student body is diverse. Someone stated on the Facebook Shameless page that this is no different that a college student recruited by a school to play basketball or football in exchange for getting a scholarship to that college. I do see it differently. The college student is playing a game that they enjoy enough to devote the time and effort to it in order to make and stay on the team. Liam didn't sign up to be the face of diversity.
  2. I think Derrick started it around early August.
  3. Was the show definitely cancelled or did it just end the first season?
  4. I wonder if Ray is going to become a regular on the show like Adam is now, Especially with Christy's restaurant and all of those characters gone and her kids and Baxter gone as well. In some ways it almost seems like a different show from when it first started years ago.
  5. I'm having a hard time watching all of the episodes, even though I really want to since I previously didn't watch beyond season 7. Even with my DVR picking up the series for me, I'm always 3-4 episodes behind. Will all 15 seasons be shown over the next couple of months?
  6. I'm pretty sure Liam was recast because the previous twins playing him, while cute, really couldn't act. You can see right away this new actor is much better at dialogue than those two ever were. One problem with casting kids as toddlers, you never know if they have any talent until they grow up. If anyone remember Seventh Heaven, the youngest kids that were twins were really bad as they grew up, but were never recast. As a breast cancer survivor myself, I admit my heart stopped when Kevin was told by the customer he had a lump. I went through all this in the winter, spring and summer and I'm not sure I'll be able to watch if Kevin has to go through chemotherapy. I do like the idea of Fiona being a landlord, as she's her own boss there. I guess Vee had to go work for Fiona after losing the bar but it's fun to see them together there. Have a feeling Svetlana isn't gone for good. Sheila will be coming back at some point and I'm very excited about that.
  7. Looks like Christie's kids are gone. The opening changed so that they're no longer in the family picture, so I guess they were written out. I did laugh out loud seeing Jamie Pressley in the fat suit. I imagine the story is going to be rather than indulging in alcohol, she's indulging in food. I thought it was actually a clever way to hide the pregnancy, especially one of twins. Katie Mixon of American Housewife was also pregnant the entire time they were filming her first season, and the wardrobe specialists did a fantastic job of hiding the pregnancy. Her storyline also included the character being overweight. I'm thinking that Bonnie doesn't end up marrying Adam. For the show to work, she has to continue living with Christie, just as Alan did with Charlie in Two and a Half Men. If Bonnie moves out, the show wouldn't be the same anymore.
  8. I'm pretty sure that Caleb was around helping Josh and Anna remodel something in the Washington DC house. This was the episode when all of the Duggars showed up early for Thanksgiving dinner and Anna was probably pregnant at the time, and killing herself trying to make dinner. It had to have taken place at least 3 years ago. Somehow I feel Caleb is a bit older than 22 if he's already been through college. No idea what's going on with Jana but probably she feels that the less said, the better. I've often thought that she would not want her wedding day to be televised since she seems very private. Same goes for John David. Who knows, if this show ever gets cancelled, I'm sure a Jana Duggar wedding would revitalize it for a season.
  9. I've been taping the episodes airing during the day to watch at night. Finally watched On the Beach , I've never seen it before and I thought it was very well done. Mark Greene left this world on his own terms in a place he really loved and was surrounded by all who loved him. I did think it was a bit strange to see everyone at his funeral and no one shedding a tear, because I sure did.
  10. I think Anna gave birth only 4 days after this wedding. It makes me wonder about the timing, what would they have done if Anna was in the hospital giving birth that night? Personally I wouldn't want to cut it that close. Despite her size, I still don't think that Joy got pregnant before marriage. If she had married a guy who wasn't into the religion like the Duggars are, and if she was living away from home, then maybe, Otherwise, no. Jim Bob and Michelle looked ok but I don't think they add anything to the show. Jim Bob is trying to marry his kids off as soon as possible so they'll stay on the air. But after this wedding, unless John David finds somebody, I don't think there will be any for awhile. I strongly suspect Jana will either never marry, or she will be 35 or older when she finally does. Everyone else is probably too young to marry, except I guess Josiah in addition to John David.
  11. I watched the episodes tonight and I remember Rachel was originally played by a different actress. Is this actress now the one who used to do the Coke commercials? She looks familiar.
  12. I'm enjoying this show a great deal. When young Alex started dancing to the MC Hammer song, I really was surprised at how talented he is. I like all of the characters and it's refreshing there isn't a lot of drama or tension and the parents aren't portrayed as being stupid either. Hopefully it will hang around a couple of seasons at least.
  13. I saw tonight's episode and I definitely think Lindsey is on the verge of being an alcoholic. Even if she isn't drinking every day, getting wasted several times a week indicates some kind of a problem. It's not like she just has one drink and stops with just that. I think the Coco storyline with her boyfriend about wanting to date other guys was probably staged. I don't think she had any intention of giving him up, they just needed something for the show. Why did Katia and Julie decide that Julie would be the one to get pregnant? That woman seriously still has an obsessive eating disorder. She might not be able to eat enough to sustain the pregnancy that they are spending thousands of dollars on. Crazy. Speaking of crazy, I hope we don't see Linsdsey pregnant because I strongly suspect this was an accidental pregnancy. Seeing her drinking the way she does while not knowing she is pregnant would be hard to watch.
  14. Is the actress who plays Kate actually pregnant and they're writing it into the story? Just wondering. I'm not so sure that she is morbidly obese. The camera always makes people look heavier. I remember years ago when Roseanne had her show that people greatly overestimated her actual weight. I'd guess that the actress weighs no more than 230-240 at the most. It's well within the normal range of being able to get pregnant. I don't mind the story line of the foster daughter but I find myself wishing that Randall and Beth had more stories taking place with their own children rather than a foster one. It's very hard to follow up last season's relationship of William with Randall but I wouldn't mind the focus being their own kids instead of so much on another child.
  15. Sadly, I don't see that the adult children will every easily live independently, even if they wanted to. This is a lifelong pattern of co dependency upon their parents and each other, and I don't think it will be easy to break. And the more kids that enter that household. the more chaotic things will become. There will be jealousy among the children (probably already exists to a point) over attention and fairness. We saw some of this with the dress situation of the daddy daughter dance. I think Jamie recognizes this and wants a way out of the family mess. He may have agreed to move into the house and take Blair's last name but I have a strong feeling that this is not something he wants for the rest of his life. I suspect it with Blake as well though his wife seems happy enough living in the family home. The two older brothers and spouses don't have the least interest in moving out, Jen is second in command to Barbara and Megan really misses her mother, so I can see why she was attracted to living in the household of family being around all of the time.
  16. I recorded this but wonder if I'm going to end up watching this episode. I had breast cancer earlier this year and went through surgery, then a couple months of radiation and now am taking a 10 year regime of a chemotherapy drug to prevent recurrence. It was very scary and exhausting. I can't imagine going through it with that many people around all the time. If anyone is looking for another Monday night alternative, the Good Doctor is on at the same time as the Putmans. I do wonder how Meet the Putmans is doing in the ratings.
  17. I couldn't get through this episode. Way too boring. I ended up fast forwarding through it after I set it to DVR. I'm not sure how the show is going to survive the next couple of years. Yes, the older girls will continue to have babies- all but Jinger, for awhile. But there probably won't be any more weddings for awhile after they show Joe and Kendra's. I can't see John David wanting any part of courtship and wedding being shown on TLC. Josiah would go along with it but I think he hasn't yet gotten over Marjorie.
  18. Loved that car he was driving in the opening scene. My husband said it was a 55 Corvette. I did enjoy it, seeing Liz and Red working together well was fun to watch. And seeing Tom at the end was great too. But where is their baby? I can't remember her name.
  19. Dad Putman showed his true colors tonight. I can't remember where I read it, but I saw some reference that he'd physically abused his wife in the past. It wouldn't surprise me at all. He won't accept anyone challenging him or having a difference of opinion, it's his way or the highway. I believe I also read that the only way he would agree to Jamie marrying Blair is if Jamie would agree to take the Putman name and also move into the house. This patriarch is worse than Jim Bob Duggar, Matt Roloff , who's also an alcoholic (in my opinion- but 2 DUI's puts you in that category in my book). A much better alternative, I think, is Outdaughtered. That also features a close knit family, including the brothers-in laws all working together. But the main families have their own houses even if they all probably live in the same neighborhood. The grandmom lived with her daughter and husband for awhile to help out with the kids. I think Outdaughtered will continue to do pretty well in the ratings, but I don't think Meet the Putmans will succeed unless they have Dad Putman toning his act way down.
  20. Even worse, Jen is actually 6 years older than Billy. She was 26 and working for the family business when Dad Putman fixed her up with his son. I'm wondering why he wasn't working there already as he was 20 and it doesn't appear he or his second brother went to college, both got married young. Actually, the youngest brother married at 18 or 19. So not only were all of the kids encouraged to never leave home, they were also all encouraged to work in the family business too. Except Blake, who had higher aspirations, becoming a doctor. One problem the show may have is the ages of the kids. They're mostly all in school and I'm not sure of the reality show laws in Michigan. But they also have to be careful as to how the kids are presented on the show, that they aren't made fun of by their peers. I can see this happening especially when the older ones go to middle school. Another problem is that the patriarch, Bill Putnam, isn't that appealing. When the Duggar's show started, Michelle Duggar was the sweetheart of the tv series and she was the one who kept having all of the babies. Grandma Barbara doesn't seem to have too much to say yet, and the daugthers/daughter in law have yet to really show their personalities, except for Blair. So if the show is going to focus on the adults, there has to be one who really appeals to the audience. I'm not sure this will last more than a couple of seasons.
  21. I've been watching the reruns as well. I have to admit, I miss the old days when Christie worked at the restaurant. Chef Rudy was truly hilarious, especially when he was dating Bonnie. King of the one-liners. And Christie was dating her boss for awhile. The whole restaurant was dropped by season 3, as well as her kids for the most part. They had Roscoe moving in with his dad and we didn't see much of them anymore either. The whole focus became Christie and Bonnie and their friends from the AA meetings. Which isn't bad on its own, but I do miss a lot of the old characters.
  22. If they aren't Mormons, my next guess would be Pentecostal or Independent Baptist. Possibly also the parents became born again Christians- is that the same as Evangelical. I am in a highly Catholic area and my husband was raised Catholic and I've never heard anyone talk about their faith the way these folks do. Plus, the father being "head of the household" and so domineering leads me to thing it's something similar to what the Duggars believe, though less extreme.
  23. wait, Lindsey had a baby? Or are you talking about Hayleigh? I read that Hayleigh and Brian had a baby girl back in February earlier this year. Moving to Tennessee away from her parents was a good step for them. Katja and her wife again talking to guys from the internet in their search for a sperm donor? WTF? Go to a sperm bank unless you two have a best friend who's going to do the donation. Why did Lindsey move to Vegas? Job opportunity or just felt like it after she and her Scottish boyfriend broke up? I like Coco and her boyfriend. But I can see his point if he doesn't want an open relationship. Too bad, they seemed really good together.
  24. I'm a bit confused by the wedding. Since when is a priest allowed to marry a couple outdoors? Doesn't a Roman Catholic wedding have to be performed in a church with a full Mass? I know this was set in Ireland but I thought the rules were the same as in the United States. Also, I'm not sure about this, but if the marriage doesn't work out, is divorce legal in Ireland? Or would they get a divorce in the US but Ireland wouldn't recognize it, so Claire couldn't get married again. Plus, whether civil or religious, there is a 90 day waiting period to marry in Ireland. The Charles/Liza storyline is going into boring overtime. I wish that they'd had a romance this past season.
  25. The one aspect that I see of this family dynamic is: even though the adult children are adults, when living home with their mom and dad, they are still falling into the dynamic most kids and teenagers have with their parents. Dad (and to a lesser extent, Mom) is making the major decisions about things like having the one bank account. These "adults" never probably had to figure out their own budget and survival because it's always been done for them. I also think that all of them , marrying so young, would not have been able to establish their own households and have so many kids if they weren't already living with their parents. Stay at home moms in their 20's with 4-5 children? Not unless the dad is making over $100,000 a year, at least. Also, Dad and Mom have never encouraged independence, so maybe the kids had no desire to try to find out what it was like. Even in foreign countries where muti-generations of families live together, I sincerely doubt that there are 26 people in one house. Plus everyone agreeing to all eat together, the same meal, at 6 pm- just seems unusual that all would agree to that. I still think that the young women who married into this family probably didn't have as close a relationship to their own parents as they did with the Putmans. The oldest wife moved in 2 years before her marriage to share the room with the youngest sister and another one mentioned her mother being on hospice, implying she'd passed away and she was grateful to have everyone around to help with the kids. We have 2 adult kids living at home with us and commuting to college, ages 20 and 23. It's sometimes a bit hard for me to step back and not tell them what to do, at least sometimes. They forget to do their laundry and take out their trash until it's overflowing, don't always clean up their dishes after making snacks, things like that. But in the Putman family, it's like all of the adult kids just go along with whatever their dad says. They don't seem to question him at all. 2 of the sons work for their dad also. I wonder what a clinical psychologist thinks of this family dynamic.
