  1. The only thing I learned from this episode is that a gastric balloon is apparently now possible. I think I've heard of this in the past year or so. I'm about 75 lbs overweight myself and the idea of using something like this for 6 months is intriguing. Not that I'd definitely do it, but it's nice to know of another option. Anyway, I don't think we heard enough backstory on Jan and how she managed before moving to Houston. I just think she might have had some friends and/or family that was helping her who didn't want to appear on camera. And I'm starting to think that before Dr. Now performs any weight loss surgery, the majority of the patients need to go to therapy. Doesn't look like Janine ever did, or if so, we didn't see it.
  2. I missed quite a bit of last season due to the fact that I was dealing with a breast cancer diagnosis and treatment (better now, thanks!). So I'm a bit confused about some things. I do remember that Babs had a stroke. Is she okay now? I don't remember Buddy and Heather dating, not really. And why did they break up? Though personally I think that Heather can do better than Buddy. Dude looks unhealthy and as some have mentioned upthread, he could have an alcohol problem. Has Whitney addressed anything about her weight last season? I do remember she had to ride in a mobility cart during a St Patrick day parade. And what happened to the radio job? I guess she's done with that too. Wonder what the ratings are for this show. Most of us seem to be watching it and cringing at the same time.
  3. If Carl is 17 and his wife is something like 15, don't they both need parental permission to marry?
  4. I'm just taking a wild guess and thinking that Joy will have the baby by Valentine's day. I read somewhere, can't remember exactly, that stated Joy's due date was early March. But then there is the Amazon registry that gives a due date of Feb 22. It won't be long now. By the way, since I haven't been keeping track, have any of the Duggar babies weighed less than 7 1/2 pounds? Seems like all of them are good sized, especially Jill's babies.
  5. I've got all the episodes airing this week taped to watch later as I've been on jury the past 2 days- and have to go back in 2 weeks for a 3 day trial. But I couldn't resist watching episode 1 today. Wow. Mark Green had hair. Doug Ross shows up drunk and Frank has a cameo as a police officer patient. Daria is there too as a pregnant teen. Interesting that these early guest starts later became regulars. And it was so much fun to see John Carter on his first day of work being practically eaten alive by Peter Benton. Then Morganstein comes in to finish an operation Peter had started to save a man's life. Carol Hathaway's attempted suicide is in this first episode as well. I'd ever forgotten William Macy was on season 1 of the series, to be replaced by Kerry Weaver next year.
  6. I watched the storyline with Ray coming back, enjoyed it. Thought he and Neela would hook up but I'm not surprised he changed his mind about it. I liked seeing Chaz in the ER, but didn't buy Mouris letting him do a procedure he wasn't ready for. That was scary.
  7. To the person upthread who asked about Maura Tierney, I know she was supposed to get the lead in Parenthood but had to decline because she found out she was diagnosed with breast cancer. I've enjoyed her character on ER but like her better in The Affair. I never knew Angela Bassett on was ER, but I was excited to see her. She's a very talented actress and she sure plays bitchy extremely well.
  8. I was very sad to see Pratt go, and glad I was warned ahead of time . That whole episode of the other doctors trying to save him was very emotional. The Australian actor (David Lyons?) is difficult to understand with his accent. I don't like to have to work so hard when watching tv. That scene of him and Neela creeped me out in the previous episode, for a second there, I thought he was going to rape her. And bringing back Jeannie so late in the series was puzzling to me, since there were no doctors left that knew her. It was nice a couple of nurses did. I wonder what made her decide to star in a guest episode and under what circumstances she left ER .
  9. I'm behind a few episodes and struggling with season 14. I'm watching strictly out of curiosity now. Just saw the one where most of the group plays ice hockey. I'm trying to imagine the actors agreeing to sign up for that one. Anyway, it did seem as if it was supposed to be funny, and I guess it was, but also seemed strange to see them all getting irritated and angry over a hockey game. Also, the prison guard in there who was trying to redeem himself for having put an innocent man to death. If I had more time, I'd rewatch to try to figure it out but my DVR will just get loaded up of back episodes. Looks like the whole series will end around Martin Luther King's birthday.
  10. I remember Luka saying yes, he did have to fire Weaver. I don't exactly know why. But I watched the wedding episode today of Abby and Luka. It was pretty well done overall, though I could have done without the fight between Tony and Ray, and everyone wanting to kiss Neela. That was just weird. Not exactly sure who the flower girl was, the daughter of the other surgical student? Not liking Ray getting run over by a truck at the very end. I don't know how Pratt dies since I am seeing these episodes for the first time. I originally watched up until Lucy and Carter were shot, then I bailed on the rest of the series,Curiosity is keeping me hanging in there now. I do miss Susan more than I thought I would. Somewhere, I read that the actor playing Luka's contract is up, so while they just had the character get married, now he won't be appearing as much next season. Hmm.
  11. I'm going with Valentine's day as the day she gives birth. Also wondering if there is any possibility that she's been put on bedrest for premature labor or some other reason.
  12. I'm behind a couple of episodes, but I don't understand how the Forest Whitaker character got into Abby and Luka's apartment. And it's Whitaker who has a restraining order against Luka? This is really weird. Watching Pratt get arrested was pretty sad as well. Then we also have Sam's kid starting a fire in her apartment and Gate's ex looked like she had a serious car accident. I'm missing the old days of Benton being surly to Carter and the Doug/Carol romance. Heck, I even wish that Mark Green and Jen had stayed married, I enjoyed seeing their family scenes and never understood why she could only get a job 2 hours away , not in a big city like Chicago. It certainly doesn't feel at all like the original show. Especially now with Weaver leaving.
  13. For once, I managed to watch all 3 episodes tonight (thank goodness for DVR) and I have to say that all of the storylines were about the most depressing I've ever since on television. Originally I stopped watching about the end of season 6 when Lucy was shot. But between Vic's nervous breakdown, Michael's death and Neela's grief, then Steve showing up again and nearly getting Luka killed and then kidnapping Sam and her son, I almost couldn't wait for it all to end. Pretty intense stuff.
  14. Wasn't the creator of this show the same man who created "This is Us"? There is the overall theme in that show of going back into the past as well as focusing on the present. If it works so well for This is Us, - the ratings on that show are huge and I do enjoy it- then why doesn't it work for Me, Myself and I?
  15. I actually liked last season better. I'm struggling with this season, even though I like Leah Remini. Something is missing but I can't quite put my finger on what it is. Not sure I'll be finishing out the year.
  16. I just finished watching the episode where James Woods guest starts as Abby's professor who now needs the trach due to advanced ALS. For most of the episode, I believe Ally Walker to be his wife instead of his assistant. She clearly loved him. I wasn't exactly clear about the ending though, was he going home to die by asking his assistant to remove his trach for him? And why was Abby ice skating in the final scene? The episode also somewhat reminded me of the one a few days ago with Cynthia Nixon , who couldn't talk due to a massive stroke until they surgery was done. Very scary stuff. I take a low dose aspirin every day since I turned 50 in the hopes it'll help prevent a stroke.
  17. I have enjoyed watching the Goldbergs since season 2, but I didn't realize until recently that the real Adam Goldberg is only 41 years old, making him much younger during the years in which this series takes place. I'm 54 and this show is more in line with my growing up years since I graduated high school in 1981. They do a lot of going back and forth on the 1980s timeline but they do manage to make it work. Sometimes I notice that I'm a bit startled to see how much the weekly episode is actually drawn from real life. If the real Beverly was indeed half as annoying as the character portrayed, I think I'd had asked to be sent away to boarding school.
  18. I'm so disappointed that the show might be cancelled. Off to leave feedback about the show and why they should keep it. I just realized that the man who plays the stepfather is the same one who hosted "How the States got their Shapes" a few years ago on the History channel. I recognized the voice but couldn't place him. Didn't know he was an actor, I'd thought of him more as a reporter.
  19. Is Joy the only one who never announced a due date? For the record, I don't think she's having twins. The Duggars would have made a huge deal out of that and it would have made for an entire Counting On episode.
  20. If it isn't already, the show is going to be cancelled. The twins are 17 now and the younger kids 13. With Colin permanently off the show, they've probably gone as far as they can with it. Cara and Mady might decide to go away to college. The family vacations have gotten boring and how many activities can a bunch of teens do with their mom, who insists on being the star of the show? Time to shut it down.
  21. I've been watching the episodes at the rate of 2 a day, saving a couple for the weekends in the hopes I'll be paying attention to the storylines better. However, I'm still not entirely clear why Luka and Sam started dating- isn't he about 20 years older than her? And why Carter's girlfriend was so compelled to return to Africa and work there while she was pregnant with his child. At this point I'm having a hard time remembering why Luka and Carter ended up staying so long in Africa in the first place, and how they managed to keep their jobs at County General when Weaver never seemed to know when they were coming or going. I did chuckle at the risk management dude who witnessed Sam punching out that sleazebag who raped his teen girlfriend , and again when he told Weaver off. Then she essentially told him to leave and not come back.
  22. I know that this is a snark board but I can't find any fault with this show at all. I really liked this episode and think that the parents have a great relationship with all of their kids. Nice to see Holland Taylor again and the actor who played Kenneth's dad. It was pretty funny to see JJ say good bye to the kid from camp, but I can't actually remember what their feud was about.
  23. Ugh, I hate what they did to Romano ! I was wondering why the series killed him off, did he go to directing or have another project he was working on? Nevertheless, that was horrible to watch him crushed to death. Ditto for the lady setting herself on fire in her car. I just about jumped out of my chair. Anyone long for the days when we used to see the staff singing and joking around? It almost seems like a different show now. I'm wondering if Noah Wylie was making a movie or something else, hence his move to Africa.
  24. The idea of the Gallaghers having friends is interesting, and I think that Ian's female partner on the EMT route could be developed further. Also, seeing Lip for the first time with friends in a support group rather than just with a girlfriend is also refreshing. Frank always had his friends at the Alibi but now it appears he'll have some types of friendships now with his work collegaues. And Debbie is friendly with people from her school, I guess? Or are they just people she met in the bar? Liam finally found a friend this season too, and even though it probably won't last, I thought it was funny that the rich kid thought Liam's family was awesome.
  25. I might be the only one, but I find Frank much more tolerable when he's sober, same with Lip. Frank is actually getting a sense of pride and accomplishment with this new job, or at least I think he is. Glad to see Kevin doesn't have cancer. Thank goodness I won't have to watch that the rest of the season. I like seeing Fiona without a boyfriend. She's a badass in whatever she does, and being a landlord that doesn't put up with crap is awesome. Again, this might be me, but for the moment there are too many characters on the show. They can drop the ones we only see for a minute or so. That said, I am really enjoying the new Liam character.
