I don't text, but I do email constantly for business. I begin my emails with a salutation and sign them with my name at the end. There's nothing wrong with being old school. I am irked, however, when people have an auto signature that contains 20 lines beyond their name, like they have to give their life history after every two-line email. No one cares! (At least I do not.)

CHIN-ko-teeg, shin-teeg. Tomato, tomahtoe. I have to vote for using the correct pronunciation for the locale. I was reprimanded when I said the name of a Missouri town, Bolivar, as I learned in history class. The correct way to say it is BAH-la-ver. New newscasters and weather people always reveal they are not "from here" by the way they incorrectly pronounce local cities and towns. So I have a bigger quibble with Mayim than you do. Say it right, this is a national game show for SMART PEOPLE. What's so hard about it? Don't answer that ...

That's what made me want him to lose!!!! I didn't notice the swaying but I would have been rooting for him to win if I had seen it, just to spark up the commentary here. Plus it would distract me from the host. Maybe. TWO MORE WEEKS!

WEEK 42 • June 27, 2022 — THREE asterisk * 205. The World of Today. Partly because it was a monosyllable, this word was chosen as “a noun that conveys the idea of a unit of cultural transmission.” * 206. Poets’ Corner at Westminster Abbey. At his 1892 burial, fit for a baron, the organist put music to his words, “I hope to see my pilot face to face, when I have crost the bar.” * * 207. Television History. In the opening scene of its July 21, 1969 pilot episode, a man carves the letter D into wet cement. * * 208. U.S. Cities. This U.S. city now has 10 times the population of the other U.S. city for which it was named in 1845. * 209. World Geography. Mont Bellevue de l’Inini is the highest point in this European possession largely covered by the Amazon rainforest.

Except the category was One-Word Titles and your phrasing pretty much invites at least a two-word response. "Screwed" is one word. And yes, my brain went that direction too, Clan.

Ketosis gives one really bad breath, it's inescapable. At least that's what happened to me when I did that diet. It's miserable. Before I came up with Portland, I thought of Springfield, knowing of three states, two near me, that have a rather large Springfield. Four if you count where the Simpsons live. But East Coast and Midwest x2 didn't feel right. Besides, Portland has been a clue/answer a few times on this show so it was a safe FJ guess.

I totally went with Dragnet, even though the last time I saw an episode was ... well, a REALLY long time ago. At least it starts with a D.

Today our show's host channels JoJo Siwa.

If that's the case, then I vote for more contestants to dress for a long bike ride. I couldn't take my eyes off of Joe yesterday, and was so very sorry when he did not win so he could stay for one more day, to the enjoyment of my eyeballs. I even posted on Lilly's Twitter how much I liked what he was wearing.

Well, they did in 2012. Just think back to the Olate Dogs, they got the $1,000,000 that season.

Yes, the Feather Fund! Kids who received grants bid on their pony by holding up a big feather, which clues adults to not bid against them. https://www.aptonline.org/catalog/WILD-PONIES-OF-CHINCOTEAGUE-THE Check your local PBS station for air times, plus you might be able to view it online. It's really good, especially if you like ponies! Shin-teeg ponies!

Today begins the first of three weeks with the current person hosting this show. Ken returns for the last two weeks of season 38. So, I will continue to muddle through for three weeks, then will hop, skip and jump, happily tossing confetti when someone is gone from my teevee screen. Going back to a past discussion, I watched a PBS show on the Chincoteague ponies this weekend. ALL of the locals said "shin-teeg" like it was two syllables. It took me a bit to catch on what they were saying. But bottom line, MB's "CHIN-ko-teeg" would tag her as an outsider if she ever went to the pony penning. (Can't imagine that's her thing though.) Side note: There is a foundation there that helps fund kids so they can buy a pony for less than the typical $2,000-$4,000 selling prices.

I wear my mask here in the U.S. everywhere I go, and almost all of the time I am the only one who is. I will continue to do that, damn the torpedos. I mean, damn what anyone thinks. My body, my life! I hope you can get back into the U.S. w/o having to be neg on a COVID test. Maybe restrictions are relaxing, but I've read of people stuck in UK and Mexico and not able to get home. One woman went to a destination wedding in UK, got COVID while there and had to spend 14 days in the hotel (her expense!) before she could return home. Scahns for breakfast for everyone!

WEEK 41 • June 20, 2022 — TWO asterisk * * 200. British History. From the Greek for “alone”, it was nixed by Parliamant in 1649 after being deemed “unnecessary, burdensome & dangerous.” * 201. Geography Words. From Greek for “chief” & “sea”, this word originally referred to the Aegean, known for its many island groups. 202. 19th Century Literature. This author first thought of a parrot before choosing another bird “equally capable of speech.” * 203. Classic Albums. This classic album by a Southern rocker gets its title from a Civil War quote by a Union admiral. * 204. Oscar-Winning Actors. Each of the 3 films for which he won an Oscar, from 1975, 1983 & 1997, also garnered a Best Lead Actress Oscar.

I imagine Sherman saying that during his "march."

That would be FIRE! if Buzzy hosted the tournaments and Ken went full-time on day Jeopardy. There could be truth in Buzzy replacing Mayim. While surfing around the Internet yesterday I came across an article about how fans HATE (yes, all caps HATE) Mayim and want her gone, then it printed several examples of anti-Mayim messages sent to Jeopardy. It was a pretty rough-on-MB article and, while I dislike her intensely, I didn't feel right about posting a link to that hot story. But it's out there folks. I do love me some Buzzy. He's spruced up The Chase and would do the same for Jeopardy IMO.

Agree this was a great episode. I was excited the players picked the high numbers, then depressed when Brandon beat all three. I was rooting for the players for one of my few times. So it was exciting when the best player was sent back for a "lightning round" and then won $60,000 for the team. I like Brandon very much, he seems more balanced in knowledge than, say, James. I liked his big offers, liked that the players took the big offers, then liked that the players ended up winning $ in the end. Yes, great episode. Glad Brendon has been added to the Chasers. Poor Victoria had to sit in her car this time.

Polecano was back to being set wrong again. Even Joe/Riggle commented on it. Fishing Hole is my favorite, it's the hole I was to be assigned when I (never) make it on this show. Hate when players don't even try to do the obstacle and just fall or jump into the water. Last week several beat the obstacles, which is more fun for me who is laying down watching with remote in hand. I'm starting to believe the guy at the end really is Steph Curry, it's been so long since I've seen him. Basketball tourney not withstanding. This ep was on at 8 here, central time. I guess it's on at 9 eastern, right?
-
Side note: Riggle and Joe are scheduled to appear on the new season of $100,000 Pyramid. That should be so much fun, I'm looking forward to that. But first, tonight's episode!* Yeay! ETA: *I mean tomorrow night's episode. Boy, was I disappointed when it didn't come on tonight though!

I got a kick out of today's game when MB announced the DDs since I heard them in @shapeshifter's voice. Now I want Shapeshifter's recording on my tv remote so I can press it to let Shapeshifter and MB make the DD announcement at the same time. That would greatly improve my enjoyment of this show, at least while the current person is "hosting."

She's nervous? WHAT? You make me laugh! MB, master of sitcom acting, quotes Jon Lovitz as she throws one arm up in the air: "Master Thespian!"

WEEK 40 • June 13, 2022 — ONE asterisk * 195. TV Legends. Buster Keaton considered her the tops in her field &, in fact, was one of her early mentors. 196. 1972. In June he said, “Don’t lie to them to the extent to say there is no involvement, but just say this is… a comedy of errors.” 197. Brands. Babe Didrikson Zaharias, Evan Strong & Roy Campanella broke barriers representing this brand. * 198. Debut Novels. Published in 1991, this novel, the first in a series, has been described as “historical fiction with a Moebius twist.” * 199. 19th Century Contemporaries. Congratulating her on the 1869 release of her biography, Frederick Douglass wrote, “I have wrought in the day –you in the night.”

Take photos to share when you do! It's near Kansas after all. The website is a hoot, I played all the carousel music, so much fun. Thanks for finding and posting that.

Both audio files played on my desktop Mac, no problem. Could be your iPad is missing the software to play audios, @30Helens. I've never had a problem playing videos or audio on any Macs, and I've had them since the beginning of Lisa. I do agree that a giggle is needed to complete the impression @shapeshifter. Please record a new MORE COMPLETE audio, with giggle before and after. My request, not a command!
