  1. His wife or daughter or girlfriend? I thought Alex would ask but I missed it if he did.
  2. I did get 5. Last week was up my alley. But I felt bad posting after reading Saber5055 was losing brain cells.
  3. Now I feel badly posting 5/5. Really!
  4. Be careful or you will learn things you really did not want to know. I got Gallipoli, Sydney, A-frame. Didn't Alex stop "dap/dab" from being answered by anyone else? I liked the yelled movie quotes category. FJ was an instaget.
  5. The champ from a couple days ago said she took up taxidermy and stuffed a mouse and a butterfly. How does one taxidermy a butterfly? I couldn't look at Ben with his beard. He could almost knit it into clothes. Nasty. He has a wife, too. Amazing. Alex thanked Mental Floss for providing that category when only two clues were revealed. That would have been my first selection category. Thanksgiving. Add me to those who love turkey, baked with crispy skin.
  6. He said he waits until it gets tired of flying around and it lands, then he puts a box over it to capture it. My guess is one got in his house or attic and that's how he caught it, which is a vast improvement over batting it out of the air with a tennis racket. The pony express starting in St. Joseph, a triple stumper, was a clue/answer not too long ago. Only one clue left on the board this game. I hope the new champ calms down her ducking and weaving next week. FJ= instaget!
  7. Back in the Old Days, doctors used leeches to heal people. So removing some of Red's blood should have made him healthier. Still, it would have been easier to just make up some truth serum to inject him with if they wanted him to talk. Every other tv clinic has some of that, Katarina should have borrowed some from another show.
  8. Or Tony Roma, his restaurant is a great place for steak. That would be the perfect wine to bring when you are invited to Mr. Trebek's house for dinner.
  9. 4/5 and one *. I lucked out last week, I was in a local rendition of Fiddler, I studied a while in Hawaii, I was at the Sydney Opera House two years ago (it's so beautiful!), and I named one of my cats Dorian Gray. I did learn a new term, land-grant universities! I had never heard that term before.
  10. I agree. There were so many things I could think of that would have fit the category. I also was surprised by no one knowing beignets. They are just (delicious!) fried dough with a French name. That was so funny! Maybe they are the "couple" and are sharing wardrobe.
  11. 4/5 and 2 **. That darned Tolstoy ...
  12. Thanks and so noted! I'm there next time in Vegas. Now O'Shea's needs to buy Nick's appetizer to go along with it!
  13. I've never seen beer pong IRL, but I have seen plenty of it on tv and on game shows and even talk shows. So he's REALLY isolated from reality if he heard "beer pong" for the first time here. I liked that appetizer and didn't see why the snark for the "empty" cup. It was no different than putting a wafer next to (or sticking it in) an ice cream or sorbet dessert. It looked like it would have tasted good. I was wondering how long Nick's euphoria living in Italy with Mentor Joe would last. Is Joe that horrible in real life? He makes Gordon look like a saint. Heck, he makes everyone look like a saint. Maybe octopus tentacles served with the suckers on is delicious, but I'll never find out. Maybe baked cow eyeballs are delicious too, but again, I'll never know. LOL that the food is suppose to be about taste, yet the yellow plate ruined that dish. But wait, now food needs to be about presentation, yet Dorian's food tastes great but looks like home food. Make up your mind, show. Also getting a laugh was Sarah's vegetables tasting LIKE VEGETABLES! Oh, the horror. Fred looked just like Ed Grimley in his talking head. I was surprised Joe wasn't wearing museum white gloves while holding that trophy.
  14. I am getting self conscious about being pantsless -- twice! Maybe I need to put on some of those turkey-leg booties since we don't have a waist?
  15. They still looked gross though. And no way would I want to eat off of any book, real or fake. And those hands ... YUCK! After Nick got eliminated (well, sort of, since he's now got that mentor), I was sure Sarah was going to win. So, hat's off to Dorian. I hope it works out for her. LOL about the undercooked fish that was cooked in the same thing as the other pieces of fish. Whomever wrote the script for this episode overlooked that not-so-small detail. Maybe they should have edited in a scene of one piece being taken out while the others were left in to cook all proper. Reading all the posts here has been fun. Hope to see you all in other cooking threads.
  16. Moochie was a character played by Kevin Cocoran on Spin & Marty, a Walt Disney series. He was commonly called "Mooch."
  17. I found this a while back and saved it thinking it would help me find DDs if I got on the show.
  18. 3/5. Was hoping for better but it's the first week, I'll work into it, right? Right?
  19. Nothing against Ball State, but it's an odd choice for someone from Rhode Island. Does he wear his Harvard shirt there I wonder. I laughed that these shows are always about presentation, yet last night we were told it's not, it's about taste. So I guess just throw some delicious tasting piles on a plate and call it a meal. I would never make risotto anywhere near Gordon. Joe is always so rude. When he asked Nick if he knew who puts champagne in a trifle, I so wanted Nick to reply, "Yes, I do know ... YOUR MOTHER does."
  20. I found that so funny for an obvious reason. I am surprised Brits don't have peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. I wonder what they feed their children. I like him best too.
  21. I should have stay as a lurker since my first attempt at Final Jeopardy is a big zero so far. And I'm usually pretty good at Bible topics. I did get all 12 answers on the extra Jeopardy questions quiz on the website though.
  22. Hi everybody. I've been a long-time lurker and enjoy everyone's posts. I've taken the Jeopardy test and hope to get accepted to try out one day. I read about this contest last year and it looks like it would be fun to play so I got the nerve to sign up and hope to join the fun. I'm looking forward to the new season. My other favorite shows are cooking shows.
