  1. I really enjoyed Ken Jennings' stint as guest host, I thought he did an excellent job and made the show fun during a difficult time. I'm looking forward to seeing Mike Richards. It will be a sideways move for him in the industry, and I hope he does well. Actually, I hope all the guest hosts do well, I'm rooting for them all! I'll support any host who is selected as permanent for next season.
  2. I'm back on schedule this week. I'll try not to be tardy again. 5/5 and 2*. The categories lined up for me, I used to practice figures in the skating rink we'd build in the back yard every winter. And having visited Iceland (it is so amazing) helped with Friday. I hope there are vending machines in the contest break room. I'll bring some spare change to treat everyone.
  3. Sorry I'm so late posting. The weather has been a problem here with disrupting work and my attention to what's important, the contest! 4/5 this week, 1*. Our family cat was named Diogenes, and I have family in Maryland. I did think Monday's answer was Moscow. At least it's in Russia.
  4. 4/5 with 1*. I totally blanked on Monday and felt like a maroon (hee hee!) when the answer was revealed. Thank goodness my brain worked better the rest of the week.
  5. He got the $125,000 answer about what team Michael Jordan still hates (I saw The Last Dance so I knew that answer too), then guessed on the $250,000 question about the Italian New Years tradition and was wrong. I knew the right answer, but I wasn't Ray. Anyhow, he dropped to $32,000 but said he would make up what he lost out of his own pocket for his charity. No spoiler answers in case you catch the rerun.
  6. 5/5 and two *. Big fan of Deadwood and Derry Girls, Prince and geography, and my parents told me they were "beatniks." So, a good week.
  7. Zach's Twitter header is so funny, it shows him at -$1000 on the Jeopardy set. I'm glad he made it to the Tournament.
  8. 5/5. So happy to see everyone doing so well this week.
  9. 5/5. My aunt was such a big Elvis fan, I had to know Viva Las Vegas. I actually own The Very Hungry Caterpillar book. (Don't ask!) And knowing presidents and years and what they did (or did not do) is first priority for people like me, I keep trying to get on the show. Although chances are slim for that since I'm not in California. Have a great week everyone!
  10. Looking forward to a good game today, and I wish the best to all guest hosts. I hope some contestant today wins big and goes on to the Tournament of Champions.
  11. 5/5 and 2*. I had a struggle with isotopes, then it came to me in time.
  12. 4/5 and 1*. I couldn't remember Marat's killer for the life of me. (Well, that sounds funny.) But I do know my mythology!
  13. Why not make the top of your tv stand wider by buying a wide board and screwing it onto the top of the stand?
  14. Oh gosh, this is the best Christmas present ever! And to share it with a real-life Jeopardy contestant makes it an even higher honor. I owe it all to my brain that collects odd bits of information that I can access at the most opportune times. Thank you thank you thank you!
  15. I've been enjoying the reruns with Alex in different locations. He certainly did have a full and rewarding life and career, getting to travel and meet so many interesting people. I'm lucky that I have so many books I won't need to go to the library for years, there is always one more on my shelf that I haven't read yet. I like reading the book recommendations here though, I trust you people to know what's good to put on my list for future reads.
  16. 4/5. I learned there was a real person named Lamaze. Hope everyone is having a good Monday after, I hope, a long holiday weekend. But Winter IS Coming!
  17. 5/5 with 1*. It took me a bit to figure out the Cyrano clue was talking about a nose but I got it in time. I was a big fan of the Steve Martin film.
  18. 4/5 with 2*. I never thought of a unicorn as a symbol of strength, but I never thought they were in the Bible, either. I did know Bratislava. A group of us went to Vienna some time back, and I studied the map extensively before we went. Towns are a lot closer in Europe. And countries too. And lucky for me I read about West Side Story coming back. Another week of good categories for me. I love the Cheese Shop house dressing! Corned beef on rye with Swiss and House dressing for me, please!
  19. Happy late birthday wishes to Saber5055 and Clanstarling. I don't get on this site often enough to keep up with the times. Also best wishes in your move Peeayebee. It sounds exciting although so much work. It will be worth it in the end though.
  20. 5/5 and 1*. Would you believe I was reading Moby Dick on my flight from Paris to Malta while the inflight movie, The Holy Grail, was playing? Lincoln/Douglas was a good guess since I'd never heard of those towns.
  21. 4/5. I had no idea "om" meant anything. Too much Thanksgiving turkey I guess. I hope everyone had a good vacation weekend, all things considered. I'm looking forward to the challenge of remembering FJs from the Alex reruns. I'm glad the contest will continue.
  22. 5/5. I was one of the few who actually saw the Cats movie. Me-OW!
  23. The end of The Simpsons took me by surprise. So many shows are doing tributes, it says so much about how loved Alex was.
  24. My Monday morning contest report: 5/5. Lucky guesses on two of those. Whew!
  25. I had been trying to get on the show for a few years, first with the college tournament, then regular. I tested well last year and was so excited to (maybe) be able to meet Alex in person, but that was not to be. I was heartbroken to hear the news yesterday. Jeopardy has been a big part of my life since college (we all gathered to watch every day, trying not to shout out the answers) and Alex, of course, was Jeopardy. Such a great loss, for so many reasons and for so many people. RIP Alex.
