I know the Duttons are portrayed as the all powerful ruling class of Montana, but are we to really believe that every one of the law enforcement that participated in those raids not only didn't object, but kept quiet about, what was basically straight up murder. Beth would make a terrible mother, but I was definitely hoping she would carry out the assault on the busy body customer in the store with the camera. Kid was being a brat. I get that they are trying to toughen up Jimmy, but making him remove the back and neck brace (which presumably is medically necessary) so as not to damage your fancy truck seats seemed over the top. Speaking of over the top, Kayce and his dealings with the guy who installed the cattle guards definitely went to far. Is there some kind of free range law in Montana? Is allowing cattle to cross property some how tied to the tax credit he mentioned the guy taking? If not, seems the guy was well within his rights to not want the cattle on his property. Now, I grew up in a rural area as I've mentioned before, and I know that good neighbors make allowances when it comes to other peoples' animals, but as far as I know, its not required by law. Have we seen the guy who owned the cattle before. He seemed to personally know Kayce. Would Kayce do that for all of his constituents?

It seemed totally unrealistic that it took everyone as long as it did to figure out that something was off with Logan.

I will be very surprised if it isn't revealed that Harrison killed Hannah. Would killing a deer, even on protected land, really be a big enough offense to make a person immediately go on the run and leave town? Especially an entitled prick like Caldwell. Voice over narration was back! Angela seemed to take the Harrison revelation awfully well. I wonder if the fact that the daughter is adopted will come in to play later.

If I understand correctly (and I may not), Dave Annabale's character is married to the daughter of Paula Marshall's character. If that's the case, who the hell enters a cooking contest with their mother in law?

I'm assuming livestock agent is an actual government office in Montana. I live in a mostly rural state. We have an Agriculture Commissioner, but I had never heard of a livestock agent until this show. I'm fairly certain our Ag Commissioner isn't armed.

I'll admit that they fooled me with the twist of the twin. Well played show, well played. Although, now that the twist has been revealed, the twin will hopefully ride in her newly acquired van into the sunset. Wouldn't the hospital have had to approve the commercial being played on loop in their facility? (I'm assuming these weren't on regular TV stations and the commercial just kept popping up.) Seems a little hypocritical to accept money for advertising (again, presuming) and then turn around and bad mouth it to your patients. And would any drug manufacturer really invest time and money to produce a drug that only added a few weeks to one's life? While I don't think the hospital can decide not to press charges, I do hope that they intervene and mitigate any sentence that the misdiagnosed patient may receive. I'm assuming he's facing kidnapping charges for holding the pharmacists hostage. It seems at least for now that Conrad is just going to periodically pop into the hospital to advise the other doctors. If you're doing that, might as well be on staff (which I'm sure he will be shortly). Thankfully, the long lost progeny was missing from this episode. Looks like we won't be so fortunate next week. I thought the previews made it seem as if Voss and Bell were on the outs. Seemed fairly lovey-dovey to me. I did like that Voss didn't seem to know when to clap at the boxer weigh-in.

Sure, there were still elements of the "old" Dexter there. I guess I was thinking more in terms of his interactions with people. He seemed more at ease with the new girlfriend than he ever did w/ Rita (IMO, mileage of course, may vary). And I can't imagine "old" Dexter going thru with the role play of getting stopped by the cop and it leading to sex in the back of the patrol car. I also thought he seemed more relaxed with the town folk than he ever did with his old coworkers. Even with the ones he considered friends, like Angel, there always seemed to be a bit of distance between them. That distance didn't seem present with the shop owner, or the preacher, or the high school kids, or the bartender. The old Dexter seemed very focused on learning how to act normally as he went along. This version of Dexter seems to have mastered it (for the most part, at least.)

I noticed Maggie Grace was billed as a guest star. Is she no longer with the show full time? Much like the original, my interest in this is waning quickly. Also, much like the original, they are getting waaaay to many characters. If a nuclear explosion didn't thin the herd (so to speak), I don't know what will.

I was coming here to comment on this. Dexter seemed to be much more comfortable fitting in here than he ever did in the original series. I guess the explanation is that he's had 10 additional years of practice. He really didn't seem out of his element at all and that was always one his main characteristics on the original. I did miss the voice over narration. I think I liked it more than most who've commented. It didn't reinvent the wheel, but it was kind of like putting on an old comfortable shoe you haven't worn in awhile. I'm in for the duration. I know they are billing it as a limited series, but is there any doubt that if ratings are good, they will continue past the one season.

Did I miss it, or did ghost Deb not curse a single time?

Was this the first time the crew has done only one rescue in an episode? What happened to the dispatcher that was giving May the hard time? Did she just disappear? Hen/Ex - Don't care. Lou seems to have made a miraculous recovery. If I'm ever seriously injured (say a piece of rebar through the skull or a slice across the throat), I hope its in LA where my chances of survival will apparently go straight up. Is Chimney seriously driving cross country? Once you get out of state, wouldn't flying make more sense? What was the story that NotAmyAdams was looking up on her computer? I saw the word doctor, but didn't catch the rest (and didn't care enough to rewind).

The internet says there is only 9 years age difference between Fillion and Dewan, but every time I see them in a scene together I think its some kind of "take your daughter to work" subplot.

Since all of these divergent storylines begin with Joe's college graduation, have they ever actually mentioned what Joe's college major was? Seems that should have given him some idea of the career direction he would want to take.

The hamster storyline reminded me of an old Everybody Loves Raymond episode where they were referred to as "disposable pets." But yeah, sending him home every night with a different student seems like overkill and a recipe for disaster. Do the parents get no say in whether they actually want to take the hamster home or not? (Of course, Jenny had probably agreed to it and Joe was likely completely oblivious as TV dads usually are.)

LOVED the opening montage with Buddy. I have a soft spot for English Bulldogs (see the user name). That made my day. Didn't expect Pat to go all Liam Neeson on Rick's uncle. Although, I can't imagine good guy Pat roughing him up too much. And even if Rick's uncle wanted the charges dropped, isn't it the state that decides these matters regardless of the victim's wishes? (Like when an abused wife doesn't want charges pressed against her husband, but the authorities charge anyway.) Clearly there was ample evidence that would have supported an assault / battery charge against Rick. I would guess that the victim's wishes would likely only come into play at sentencing. I probably shouldn't try to apply to much real world thinking to a superhero show. I like Cindy working with the team. While I don't mind her becoming one of the good guys, I don't want to see her lose her edge. Maybe make her an anti-hero.

I was very surprised by the time jump, but actually think it might be a good thing. Shows sometime need to shake things up a bit. As someone above said, a whole season of everyone acting morose over Nic's death was not my idea of entertainment. Bell's confession to the hitchhiker has to come back to bite him at some point, right?

The scenes with the senior citizens at the retirement home were some of the worst acting I've ever seen on this show. Did the producers just want to give their grandparents cameos? No way were those professional actors. Jeez. I know its not PC, but a slap to a mouthy teenager is not something that is going to get my hackles up too much. Meh. I am still enjoying Mae and Harry's scenes together. And I liked Bobby and Harry's interactions. Was there some omitted scenes between Eddie and Hen? Why did they seem to be barely tolerating one another during the exercise guy rescue? Felt like I had missed out on something there. Nice product placement with the Nike shoes, although I wonder if the company really wants to send the message that wearing Nikes could potentially lead you to a hospital stay. I guess the makers of Mirror wouldn't shell out the product placement bucks (although, again, not sure that's a storyline they want to be associated with). Mae did seem kind of loss during the chainsaw guy call. I don't really fault Claudette for intervening. Could Mae have successfully handled the call? Probably. Did Claudette essentially save the man's life? Absolutely. While Claudette is clearly getting the villain edit, I have a hard time calling her a bully. Mae might want to consider that she might actually learn a thing or two from her. I also don't think Claudette was wrong about not sharing personal info with a 911 caller. Yes, it worked out this time, but I can definitely imagine more scenarios where it doesn't. And where's Sue? Buck "teaching" Probie? Yawn. Wasn't really a fan of this episode overall.

I guess the retcon of Bell is now complete.

OK, I'll admit to getting a little something in my eye towards the end of the episode. Probably would have had a more emotional impact if it hadn't literally been all over the internet that the actress was leaving. I'll never understand why they publicize stuff like that. Back in ye olden days of only three channels, the deaths of characters, especially main characters, were surprises and kept the viewer much more invested. Would it really be that hard to keep that kind of thing under wraps until the episode airs? I'll get off my soapbox now. While I fully support organ donation and think its a good thing for shows like this to highlight it, it seems to be a very tired trope that every time a character dies on a medical drama and donates their organs, there conveniently happens to be another patient who just happens to be in the exact same hospital at the exact same time and just happens to be a perfect match. Bonus points if the character has some sort of pre-existing relationship with the deceased. Frankly, I could have done without the other patient and his wife taking up air time. Seems the whole episode should have been devoted to Nic. I did snicker at Devan calling the patient with the breathing problem his favorite COVID patient, when Nurse Hundley, who we know had a severe case of COVID (which was even featured in a flashback) was standing right there beside him. I know Conrad is supposed to be the absolute best doctor on the planet (and I actually don't usually have a problem with that), but not sure I really want to spend time with him becoming the best detective, accident reconstructionist, engineer and whatever else he has to become to solve the mystery of the crash.

Bobby kicking down that barrier and marching past those autonomous zone fools was the most I've ever liked the character. More of that please.

That's so weird. I hadn't even missed Albert at all. And I actually liked the character. I don't think the actor's name is in the opening credits, but I haven't heard anything about him leaving. Inquiring minds want to know.

I'm somewhat surprised by the reactions. I thought this was bad on soooo many levels. Bad writing. Bad acting. Terrible CGI. This type of show is normally right up my alley, but when you have characters make direct reference to other, much better shows, you know you're in trouble. I may give it one more episode just to see if it improves. I'm guessing the chances of that happening are slim.

I've never been to LA, but my understanding from extensive television watching is that traffic is bad even on the best of days. That said, it certainly seems like the characters are able to get around just fine during the blackout when you would think traffic would be especially clogged. To be fair, I think Bobby did have a throw away line about traffic being bad, but every scene they showed of someone driving seemed like traffic was moving fairly smoothly to me. Loved the alpaca storyline. The expectation that they would encounter something ferocious only to find them confronting something that normally doesn't seem ferocious at all. (Although I have heard that they can be aggressive if agitated.) I have nothing to say about Lou that hasn't already been mentioned. It defies belief that Athena (or anyone else) would not have checked up on him in FIVE days. Especially since she knew that when she last heard from him, he had captured Hudson. I am glad the character didn't die, even if it does go against all rational explanation. The ventilator kid storyline was sweet. Unrealistic, but sweet.

I'm assuming at least 8 hours passed between the events of the last episode and this episode. So in that time, are we to believe that a major hospital in a major metropolitan area did not have a single patient requiring a cast? Even if you accept there were no patients, was there no staff assigned to work in that area, or even any staff that just passed thru that area? And what happened to that nurse? Is she laying on the floor somewhere waiting for somebody to find her? She said she didn't feel well, but didn't mention going home (as best as I remember). Seemed like too many holes in the chemical gas storyline. And when Devan was found, he was halfway out the elevator door, but in his fascinating recap of events we had already witnessed, he clearly collapsed inside the elevator and the door shut with him inside. Sloppy show, sloppy. Billie, if you want to keep something a secret, its best not to discuss it out in the open. Haven't you ever watched Grey's Anatomy? The doorbell of doom finally came about. Next week should be sad.

The city should hire the hacking expert they just used over on The Resident. She solved their problem in just one episode.
