They could have had Sam and the therapist meet by video (e.g. Zoom) which would look almost the same on TV.

I was chuckling at Isaac's shirt because a man I knew in the 70s had one a lot like it. From Leeuwenhoek, lion was a guess but it counts.

Speaking of dogs, I would have liked to see Jess greet Tristan enthusiastically, while Dash wonders "Who is this human?" (I think Dash arrived during Tristan's absence.)

Sorry about this ... Week 21: 4/5 + 3 *. I hadn't heard of cioppino but it sounded good so I'll bring a batch.

One clue reminded me of a riddle in the category Mythology and Medicine: "A mother's kids played loud music that gave her this type of earache. It was so bad that she killed them."

She said she had been a "weather girl." AIUI, that is an attractive young woman who dresses provocatively and reads the forecast (written by an actual meteorologist) off the teleprompter. I don't think I have ever seen one; the TV stations I watch emphasize the meteorology credentials of their people who present the forecasts.

The "previously" mentioned a pen that somehow had information on it. What was that? I don't remember it, although I have seen all the episodes.

This show must have several writers. Why didn't one of them look up how genealogy websites work? Because that wasn't it.

Wow, Ryan wore a red shirt but he survived. Maybe he's not a Star Trek fan.

Yecch. The only soap I want in a medical drama is what they use to wash their hands.

I'll give it another chance or two. For me it depends on the writing. Basing it on the Sherlock Holmes canon, the writers could go either creative or lazy. If it works well, we can have "Doylist vs. Watsonian" discussions. Morris Chestnut was in some other series (can't remember which) and left me unimpressed. We'll see.

S11.E4: Dreamers One and All

Yes, it's said that most people with European ancestry are descended from Charlemagne (a.k.a. Chuck the Prolific). He had a lot of children and lived a long time ago, and records of high-ranking people were more likely to be made. -
I trained myself that when I think Aukland I say "Awk, that's not the capital!" Wellington was a duke, pretty high up on the social scale.

I knew that the Roaring Forties are in the southern hemisphere. From there it was a guess, and I was lucky.

S11.E3: Stranger Than Fiction

Since they must usually have more material than they can use in an episode, I wish they would put the extra information on a website (with the permission of the guests). -
Week 20: 3/5 + 1 * YTD: 67/100 + 12* I have never tried a macaron but I like macaroons, so I'll bring those.

Drew's tie was neatly tied. Did he tie it himself this time?

If a farmer in Britain grew some sugar beets: If you kids want a cake, here's how you get sugar. Harvest some sugar beets, clean them, peel them, and slice them thin. Boil them until they are soft. Remove the beet pulp and squeeze it in cheesecloth. Add that liquid to the liquid in the pot, and boil it longer until it becomes a thick syrup. This will take hours and you have to watch it. Let it cool slowly, and sugar crystals start to appear. Luckily we use the kitchen stove to heat the house, so the boiling doesn't cost extra. Give the beet pulp to the hogs.

Do those Chinese genealogies list just the male ancestors, or the women too? -
Would sugar beets grow well in Britain? A quick lookup says they do best with moderate temperatures and consistent moisture, so maybe.

Amy had brain surgery four weeks ago, but it didn't affect her hair, huh? It would be easier for some viewers to follow the timeline if they had shaved her head for surgery. Then her hair would be short now and growing longer as the season progresses.

Farm equipment: Sign in a dealership: We stand behind everything we sell, except our manure spreaders. The contestants can see the scores. Where and what is the display?

Speaking of having something in your home that could poison your pet -- Xylitol ("birch sugar") is used in some products for humans: sugarless gum, some peanut butter, some mouthwash, etc. Xylitol is poisonous to dogs and cats. Veterinarians recommend that people with pets avoid buying products containing xylitol, or at least keep them out of the pets' reach.
