  1. The Trolley Problem won a Hugo Award at the World Science Fiction Convention, for Best Dramatic Presentation, Short Form. 2. Not that I could find. On the other hand, my husband looked at Carolyn and said "Doesn't she remind you of Mallory Archer?"
  3. Nadia, the dumb guy. I figured Frank's mother was toast, too.
  4. I fanwanked Bill's actions as him being so worried that Villanelle was after Eve that he forgot to protect himself. And he'd been out of the field for a good long while. He'd gotten sloppy.
  5. You're right ... lots of people do that. My father the lawyer always recommended against it. "Sure, your kids would never do anything not in your best interests, but people make mistakes, and your daughter may be trustworthy, but what about the sleazeball she married? Hum?"
  6. "Not sure how it is going to turn out but it kind of seems like the point is harassment. Like the ex is getting back at Hen by blowing up her marriage and putting custody in doubt but I doubt seriously custody is seriously in dispute." That may be the whole point ... she neither expects not really wants custody, but she does want to trash Hen's new life without her.
  7. "I think they thought she was starting on dementia with the way she (and Frankie) let the house get to the point that the bathtub fell through the ceiling" When I was 59, I went out into the backyard to fill the bird feeder, and when I came back in I discovered that the entire drop ceiling, living AND dining room, had collapsed. And don't ask about the holiday weekend leak from a retrofitted pipe that went through a beam. House stuff happens. You get your knee replaced and you get help ... rehab, visiting nurses, visiting PT, stair lifts. And why leap into assisted living? Even if they DID need some help they could have explored in home or retirement housing facilities before making the commitment to AL. My mother managed at home with some outside help til she was 98 and only then went into assisted living. I know it's just a TV show, but I would rather have seen Grace and Frankie figuring these things out on their own.
  8. Yeah. Jason saves the day. At least temporarily. Bortles! Michael! No!
  9. We bought a Kia Soul a while back. (We've been perfectly satisfied with it.) During all that car buying rigamarole I asked the salesman "so, what's with the jive hamsters, anyway?" He looked unhappy, and sighed, and said "I have no idea. But it's the most successful ad campaign we've ever had."
  10. Ah, but that's not really white chocolate. White chocolate is sweetened cocoa butter, with milk solids mixed in, and when well done is sublime. And perfect for the Good Place. (The really crappy stuff isn't even lard ... it's Crisco.)
  11. This is why I love this show. And on a shallower note: I am very proud that I managed to space it all out ... no more than one episode a day! And really shallow: I want the cocktail glasses in the last episode. I want the martinis in them, too, but I want those glasses.
  12. There's some decent discussion over on A.V. Club.
  13. That clip was fantastic ... Sally and Massimo are both sorely missed. Does anybody have any fun on B&B any more?
  14. Of COURSE Nicole said yes. Simple child has never accomplished anything in her life but incubate Raya's Golden Child. She has nothing else to show for herself, and she seems to have no other desires (certainly not for Zzzzende) or hopes or ambitions of her own.
  15. I'm 66, so younger than Grace. In 1973 I got a job and moved to the big city, and was denied credit in my own name. I had to get a lawyer (ironically, my father) on the case to break one loose.
  16. From the interview: Well, at least one man on B&B knows exactly what he wants and goes after it. Every other guy on the show is a chronic waffler. [Laughs] We call that being a ”Bell boy.” Emphasis mine.
  17. It's embarrassing how much I love this show.
  18. So: what happened to Malcolm? Elevator all the way down?
  19. Also, when Ridge/TK first showed up, he was driving a Tesla.
  20. I confuse easily ... who picked up the Red Hood at the end?
  21. Fun episode, limited Katrina, but ... am I the only one who thinks Hawley deserved some expression of sympathy from someone about the loss of his final shred of family? "Dude, I know she was important to you, sorry she went all evil and stuff and had to be put down like a dog?"
  22. There's a graphic series (OK: comic book) called Planetary. Features a super human team who go around saving the world. The team is led by Mr. Snow, an older guy with a truly excellent tailor. Another member is Jakita, a young Mrs. Peel type, smart, but mostly muscle in a cat suit. Turns out Snow was in love with Jakita's mother, an African princess/Nobel prize scientist or some such, but mother was in love with another dude. Baby is born, and mother and other dude get killed for reasons of plot. Snow rescues the baby and has her raised by very carefully selected foster parents. Made for a genuine bond, and they never got icky. I kept hoping Red and Wiggy would turn out to be something similar.
  23. So: Melissa McCarthy as Pam in the live-action movie? Whadaya think?
