Thanks guys. I drove everyone crazy on the Bachelor thread asking "stupid" questions about how the show works. I may have to miss this one for the rest of the year. Every show I have liked in the last 3 years has been a disappointment after the first year or two.....Sleepy Hollow, Arrow, The Flash, Suits, How to Get Away with Murder and now it sounds like this one was better the first year and fell of in the second. The only thing I have gathered about the 1st season is that Rachel was sleeping with the suitor? and possibly the guy behind the scenes? She also is bi polar or has anxiety issues and Quinn and Chet were involved. In fact, since I am guilty of fast forwarding, did they fire him after he attacked her, or does he still work there?

Well, as a first time viewer I am encouraged that others are finding an issue with this episode. I started watching this year because people I know were raving about this show, as were critics. I really have not been enjoying it, but I attributed that to the fact that I don't watch dating reality shows and did not understand some of the "inside" jokes, etc. In fact, I watched the Bachelor a little for the first time this year because I wanted to watch UnReal and my friends said I had to watch that first, and because they also told me the Bachelor was going to be diverse this year. I was disappointed with the Bachelor and and I have been disappointed with this show. I think maybe I needed to watch last season to understand or care about the characters, but I am so tired of them throwing around "we have a black bachelor!!" as if they want a pat on the back. Manipulating friendships and father daughter relationships, etc. It just all seems so frenetic and pointless, as does the multiple relationships they seem to have with each other. Instead of capable, Rachel just seems weak to me and I have not felt sympathy for her at all. I also don't like any of the interns. In fact, there really are no likable characters on this show. Maybe that is my problem. Surely the real dating shows don't operate like this? It is very disappointing that they have mishandled the issue of having a minority suitor, as well as the attack on a female. I can't decide if this is a drama, comedy or a parody. Luckily I fast forwarded and did not realize Rachel had called the police, etc. until I came here. It seems to me her boyfriend may be working with the undercover girl, but hopefully not. That would just be one more way for them to drum up sympathy for Rachel. I honestly don't see the Powerhouse acting everyone is talking about from anyone.

I am going to have to have to let you guys keep me up to date. I am not into the cyberhacking. I thought the show was going to be about a mentally ill man who somehow found his way back with help from friends, therapist, etc. I am not that interested in the subject matter and they have made Elliott less sympathetic. I was interested in the relationship with Krista. In the first season when I thought the show was going to be about Elliot exposing bad people by using his hacking skills I was intrigued. It has turned into something totally different that requires too much thinking for me! -
I caught that too! I don't know what episode, but he said something about that recently, then this week he said he had trained in mexican food with someone that worked with him or worked for him or something like that. I fast forward so much I doubted what I heard, but you just confirmed that I am not crazy!

Does anyone know who they have cast as the owner of Zoila's house?

After reading some of the comments I have to say that is true about this show. In addition to Lenny and others mentioned, I am not good with names, but it was Debbie?? the Asian, JAG, the Hispanic and a few others I can think of. It was not just about their point of view, but they were constantly being told they needed to be more (insert culture) than they were, and when they wanted to break away and do different things that was never a good idea. But then when you had Rue? that wanted to do South African food, it seemed like they wanted less of that. Great comment about McCargo, I think that is true. Although I don't think Ana was racist toward Tregaye, I do feel like she was dismissive about Irish food. She didn't really embrace that part of the challenge. I would actually love to know more about Cuban food. Tia Mowry, whom I usually like, annoyed me on the show for a reason I can't put my finger on. The thing is, no matter how much they say they want something different, they always seem to go with pretty much the same thing in the contestants. I rarely watch anything on the FN anymore. I just saw episodes of Cut Throat Kitchen at the nail shop for the first time a few weeks ago, and I keep deleting my episodes of Chopped.
-
So, was Ana on the Real Housewives franchise?
-
I do think Tregaye can cook and seems to have good recipes. My main issue with her is that she does not seem authentic. She just seems to be putting on a persona that she takes WAY over the top. A little goes a long way. Apparently I missed the episode where she was told to tone it down, because if this is toned down....I cannot imagine her before. To be fair to her, however, I don't think most people on the Food Network are their true selves...with the exception of a few. I just think some are better at pretending than others...and she needs to master that. I understand that their normal dynamic may be for her to rule the roost in the kitchen, but the challenge was to incorporate the person, so her interaction with her husband was strange to me. Ana seems to be able to cook and I don't know if I would watch her show because seems distant an a little condescending. To be fair to all of them however, it must be difficult to live they way they do and compete with the pressure, not to mention the "edit" that the producers decide to give certain contestants for drama or ratings. Jenard puts me to sleep with the tone and pace of his voice, but I think he can cook and would watch an episode if he was making something I was interested in. Domiano?? I would not be unhappy if he won, but I wouldn't watch his show...only because I don't know that his recipes would be of interest, but again maybe the odd show here and there. On a side note, I just saw an article where Ana was accused of being racist for the comments she made about Tregaye's possible show. I fast forwarded through that part, so I did not see it. When I said demographic, I honestly meant young girls sitting around gossiping and looking at their clothes, or people who would want her talking about things other than food. I was not focusing on race, so I think Ana should be the same benefit of the doubt. I never watched the Neely show, so I can't comment on them.

I tried, I really tried, but I just had to fast forward through most of it. No fashion to keep me interested and just a weak story that lacked imagination. Of course there had to be someone "coming after" Mike or Harvey, it couldn't just be about rebuilding the firm, etc. They also surely expected people to sue about Mike. I agree, had they tackled the Mike thing long ago it would not have made everything that is going on now seem so unbelievable. The whole Louis thing is tiring and repetitive as well. I don't even know what happened with Mike and Rachel. Was it too much to ask for Jessica to get a boyfriend (and not Jeff?) and for Harvey to have to really take accountability for what he did by hiring Mike? He did it as a joke, on a whim, and it has always bothered me how he did that to Jessica -who has always had his back-knowing what she would lose if it was ever discovered. So we get a little scene where he apologizes to only Jessica and Louis, and then we all do drugs and all is well? I have given up my fantasy of Jessica and Harvey realizing they are in love with each other.....

So, if it is in D.C. what is going to keep the tie to Sleepy Hollow? Are they going to travel back and forth? I had gotten use to the other FBI agent (can't think of her name), but I am glad they are getting rid of the male agent. Is Papa Mills coming back?
-
I just cannot stay interested anymore. I fast forward through most of the episode and then come to the comments for everyone to explain what happened. Cullen has become so unlikable, predictable, broken, etc. that not only do I not care what happens to him, I can barely watch him on the screen. I thought he was having a stroke at the end, something to do with his leg injury. I have never known what was going on with Mickey or Durant. I agree with the person who said he dies in the end. What else is there?
-
Well Ana goes to Salvation right? Maybe she can still win and the mother/daughter show can still happen. Is Joy still in Salvation? I am actually not even sure she is the one that I liked...no one is really standing out to me right now. I can't even remember who else was eliminated except Erin and Yaku.
-
It is clear to me from the comments that came in during the live demo that other people have an issue with the popping and fleeking, etc. She also did not know how to handle it.
-
Oh gosh, I forgot about the Salvation aspect. Who is still in it? Will it be someone better than the 3 we have left?
-
Yes, even though Reggie was very quiet, I did want him to win instead of Guy.
-
I am just glad I have not watched every episode. Tregayeis exhausting, but I think I would like her food. It is like she thinks she is on one of the other reality shows. How old is she supposed to be? I honestly don't think that even people in their 20's would want to watch a cooking show with all of her "fleekisms" included. She needs to tone down the persona, but in the episodes that I have watched the judges have encouraged this instead of having her tone it down as they told Jernard. I think her name was Joy? That is who I would have wanted to watch. In some ways (and not size) Jernard reminds me of a different version of Reggie Southfield, Southland, something that was on the season and lost to Guy. He was very quiet and laid back. I think Jenard can cook, but sometimes I think he would lull me to sleep. Domiano I can't understand and I don't know if they need another Italian cook. Why was Tia crying? I missed Bobby crying?? Over what?

Flea Market Flip - General Discussion
catrice2 replied to Meredith Quill's topic in Flea Market Flip
This is one of my favorite episodes and on now. I've been trying to catch it so my sister can see it. I actually liked all of their pieces, but was surprised they sold so high. I don't think I've seen another episode that got that much money. I too thought the other team was out of line. That being said, the first time I caught this show a couple of years ago, there was a team of loud New Jersey guys that the other team gave a hard time. They ended up helping the team that was being mean to them sale their items even though it was obvious they were going to win. Great attitudes and humble competitors. I know they encourage some trash talk, but some people get WAY into it! -
How many times can I like this post? Who would really watch a show with an adult using these phrases all the time? She seems like a nice person who can cook, but I don't know why they think this language would be appealing to a demographic. Sorry, didn't read all the posts. Someone had already touched on this. I would also have a hard time watching Jenard. He just seems sleepy to me all the time. It is unfortunate that they have made Ana seems so unlikeable because I think with some practice she could have a great show. I suppose Tregaye could as well, if they could remove all the "extra."

It also true that in the past courts (which usually in family court means 1 judge) did lean more towards the female parent. That is slowly, but surely changing, especially in the cases where you are talking about two seemingly educated professionals. In fact in some jurisdictions they are making a huge effort to show they are not biased towards parents based upon gender because of previous rulings. It is a crap shoot, quite frankly, depending on the judge you get. That was evidenced in the recent sexual assault case of the swimmer, or the case I just read about in Canada where the judge asked the victim why she did not just keep her legs closed. It is about what that judge who is hearing that case believes deep down even though they are supposed to be impartial. It may be that they just eventually agree to joint custody. Since he was not just a boyfriend and the nanny when they started the relationship, it goes towards the pattern that the father will try to show of her making inappropriate choices and that her sexual relationships and decision making could impact the child, including the environment around them and what and who they are exposed to. If a court starts asking them to list their stable long term relationships and he has a 20 year marriage (and I have learned a wife willing to stay home with the child) and a current wife, that is going to weigh heavily when the judge has to consider (since she put it out there) that Karen not only slept with a father and son in violation of her professional ethics because one was a patient, but recklessly picked up unknown men for sex. She even got pregnant in their relationship, which was not planned. Nothing has been shown that Karen has had one stable relationship and her character witnesses have issues of their own. All of this goes to the safety of the child and questions whether she puts the welfare of the child above her self interests if she is sleeping with the nanny (while he is still employed) while he is on duty, not after hours. Since she has also slept with women, so even if she said she would get a female nanny they would have to ask if her faulty decision making would not allow her to pursue a sexual relationship with whomever is caring for the child. It really is not about the sex, it is about making good decisions and who can argue that it is unwise to get involved with people who work for you, or worked for you. It is however, a fictional tv show and not one that I have enjoyed for some time so I am not that invested in what happens. I am sure Karen won't lose custody and they will unearth something terrible, hilarious or shocking about the new wife. This show is not deep enough to examine what would happen to a mother if her child were taken away, and the actress who plays the role is not strong enough to carry it anyway. Based upon what everyone is writing, I expect this is the last season. I just have some perverse desire to know what happens at the bitter end. Probably because I enjoyed the British original so much. It was nothing special, but it was not this bad! You at least liked some of the women, and occasionally their partners.

Oh, they will let him off for that claiming that he was still grieving his wife's death, or some other reason. Courts still view a two parent home as more stable than a single parent, unless, as you say, there is something criminal, medical, etc. that makes the two parent home less desirable. Courts tend to be pretty conservative, so his getting married within x number of months and Karen moving into a sexual relationship with the nanny won't be viewed as the same thing. He could argue the baby was being neglected if they were having sex while the nanny was supposed to be caring for the child. It is all so silly, including having Joss's ex with Harry's sister, and of course having man child's girlfriend come back and coincidentally be in his band.
-
Lord, when you said paired up I had to remember April and the man child, along with her bratty daughter. Do they not spend anytime around each other with their kids, etc.? Real friends would try to tell her she needs to get the little girl in order, regardless of her tragic "reveal" that her father was still alive, etc. As I think about it, it would have been way more interesting to put April with Joss' ex. I'm sure no one really even cares about the sister, including Joss. Wasn't April Savi's really good friend? It seems odd that she would not mention Savi, and that she would be so behind Joss' relationship with Harry. Has she even mentioned going to visit her or anything? From what you guys are writing, does Joss have a job? Have they tried to make Harry marginally interesting?

I'm sorry, but the Zoila romance is just not believable. She has to realize something is wrong with him, and his relationship with his mother. If a man puts you on a ledge, you do not go back for more. I realize they wanted comedy in this show and I got the stereotypes as being part of the show, but they have really gone too far with Carmen and Rosie, especially Rosie. She is such an exaggerated stereotype that it has become painful to watch (and hear) her scenes. So far the circle is boring. Great casting on the love interest for Evelyn. I hope this goes somewhere and she does not end up with Adrian at the end of the season. To me it was totally believable that Gail would go after Adrian. I missed some of the episode, but saw the previews. Does Marisol want Jesse back? Of all the people they could have put him with, why Carmen's niece? Susan Lucci and the Powells are the reason I watch! Zoila is just boring, always has been boring, and for a smart woman Marisol just says and does stupid things...even for laughs.

Yes, but he did not say dine and ditch he said dine and dash. Maybe it is regional

I may be in the minority, but this was my least favorite series. I was not particularly interested in any of the stories, and I am a little confused. Are we to believe that Morse has wanted to be involved with Thursday's daughter? Was she running away with someone or on her own? Do we interpret the last scene as Thursday being angry or disgusted with Morse because he believes he knows something or had something to do with it?
-
What was dine and dash also not an acceptable response? I have heard people say both.
